5 comments about Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-46S3000 46-Inch 720p LCD HDTV.
- After months of looking a reviews and sets on the floors of many retailers I settled on the this TV. My set is a new build in Feb. 2008. I have no clouding issues, backlight is very uniform, and colors and blacks are great right out of the box. I agree with Consumer Reports that with a good signal you are hard pressed to see any difference with a 1080P set of which I have one as well.
Positves: No shiny screen or bezel, great standard definition, amazing HD, no motion problems that I can see, great price as these are probably being phased out, lots of zoom modes to your preference, plenty of color controls, enough inputs and outputs for most people.
Negatives: Really none to speak of!
- Excellent TV, bright/vivid colors, no viewing angle problems. I bought this TV through Amazon after much research. The whole experience was flawless.
- I am NOT a tech person, just average with TV's & PC's. The Sony Bravia was a snap to hook up, I used one HDMI cable from the cable box, and the other HDMI cable from the DVD into the back of the Sony Bravia, and I was all done! Simple. The set looks outstanding, and comes with a clear manual of instructions. It will do a lot more than I need (i.e. PIP) and yet it is simple to operate. An excellent buy for the money, and a Consumer Reports "Best Buy" in their recent magazine (according to my brother who noticed it). I highly recommend this set since 720p is what the stations will be broadcasting in and the picture is fabulous.
- Sony just makes great products. This year's NFL games in HD were even more spectacular on this unit. Sound quality is more than adequate. Black unpolished frame surround makes this blend well in our bedroom. My next TV will again be a Sony.
- We purchased this TV last fall from Amazon. Even though it's "only" 720p, the picture quality when watching HD channels and DVD's is excellent. The quality of regular TV channels is decent and watchable. We also use it to watch Netflix streaming movies through our computer and the experience is surprisingly good.
If you buy from Amazon, don't forget to watch the prices for 30 days after the purchase. If the price is reduced, Amazon will refund you the difference. We got almost $100 back this way, but they will not do it automatically. You need to send them an email and ask for it.

5 comments about Sharp LC19DV12U 19-Inch LCD TV with Built-in DVD Player.
- No problems so far. Just bought it today and hooked up the PC and Wii to it. Picture is really good. Have not hooked analog cable to it yet. Anxious to see how that looks
- I really debated this one when I saw it at a big box store, but I am very pleasantly surprised. One of the big pluses is how good the HDTV reception is off of the antenna. I have a large set that can barely receive off air (only some channels in the evening) but this little Sharp gets them all without any problem. I was also worried about the channel delay as it's very annoying with my big TV. This model is not that bad, better than the big screen, but there is still a pause between channels. I don't know if it's any better with any other digital TV. The other thing that's odd, but I've gotten used to it, is that the Sharp mixes analog and digital together as you use the channel changer. My big screen makes you switch into analog or digital mode to view those channels.
I was also worried about the sound quality since I have friends with flat screens that sound terrible, but there is nothing wrong with the sound from the Sharp, it's not amazing, but it has a good quality and decent volume. The remote is also easy to use, a great relief.
The DVD player so far has handled all my DVD-R home made disk without problem, which was a concern. it has some nifty features such as language and subtitles buttons not on my expensive player. Other than that it seems a normal DVD player with good picture quality.
So far I haven't found anything to fault accept the screen doesn't tilt (it's fixed) and there's no handle to easily move it around.
I would definitely buy it again.
- I went for this TV because, generally speaking, Sharp makes great LCDs. The cabinet facing is simply artwork and is well suited for our kitchen, but functionality is a whole different story. The screen on mine, admittedly is not calibrated yet, but it displays a uniform bright hue across the very top and bottom of the screen. So, in other words, the extremeties of the screen are washed-out whereas the rest of the picture is normal. Channel changing is slow and tedious compared to the older and cheaper Audiovox FPE-1505DV that I'm replacing. The Sharp cabinet is also notably thicker than the older Audiovox, although this is a bigger TV screen with a better picture between the aforementioned "rays of light" in the extremeties. The Sharp does have a nifty wire management area in the back of the set, but the engineers decided to drop the A/C plug-in on the other side. Hello? Note to the design team: Let's keep the wires together on one side of the set so ALL can be cleanly tucked away. This one's probably going back. I might as well save $300 and get a CRT with speedy channel changing if I can't get a Sharp UNIFORM picture with proper wire management. You'll grow old if you have over 30 channels to surf!
- I don't like it because of the glossy, shiny black trim around the screen. It reflects every tiny source of light in the room creating annoying distractions while viewing. Even the screen is reflected, since the glossy edge is beveled inwards toward the screen. In real world viewing, it's awful. The trim looks fine, as long as the unit is OFF.
I chose to mount this unit on the wall. The power supply cord is TOO short, at about 5 feet. I had to purchase a longer cord. Also the power supply cord goes into the opposite end of the unit than the other cables, making the power cord much more difficult to hide.
The 1.5 watt speakers provide only JUST enough volume for my 12' x 12' room. If there were much ambient noise, these speakers would not provide enough volume. This room is farily quiet, and I still have the unit at near maximum volume.
Other than that, everything seemed fine.
- I have been a fan of Sharp products for years and this TV has not changed my opinion of this company. I hooked the TV up to my analog cable and was totally amazed by the picture quality. It's hard to imagine how great the HD picture will be when I finally breakdown and buy a cable box for my office. All the programing features are easy to use, and swiching viewing modes (there are several to choose from) is a snap. DVD is simple to operate and works seemlessly. I highly recommend this TV.

- I bought the Samsung LNT3253H 32 inch lcd tv and found that after only a few months, the TV whistles so loudly it sounds like a tea pot. The picture is great, but the annoying noise coming from the back of the TV is awful. I'm sending it back. Hold off on buying this model until a fix is made.
- i had my tv since March (4 months) and its a complete piece of junk. after turning on the tv for about 5 minutes it starts a "humming" sound that gets so loud that its impossible to listen to the tv. i called for service and no one has even responded. (as i write this i have been on hold for 30 minutes)So take it from me..save your money DO NOT buy Samsung TVs - great picture, lousy TV.
- We bought this model in February from Best Buy, and a couple of months later it starting making a loud high pithed ringing noise and also seemed to get very hot. We called Best Buy and they sent a repair person from out of town (3 hours away). They took the set and won't have it back to us for at least 3 weeks. Best Buy won't give us a loaner tv, so we're stuck without our tv. This set definitely needs to be recalled. I couldn't recommend this set to anyone.
- I bought this TV even with all the warnings about the high pitched sounds and I'm glad I did. I got a great deal on it, the picture is great , and I don't regret it!
- I have had this tv for about 6 month's and I have to say it is a great tv! I LOVE IT!!!! my buddy has a 52' version of this tv and it is the same way! Just a all around great tv!!!.

5 comments about Sharp Aquos LC20S7U 20" LCD TV.
- This was a great purchase. The picture on the TV is wonderful. You can watch it from many angles and it's still clear. The installation was extremely easy. It is a perfect TV for a small room.
- Purchased this today to replace a tiny 13" in my bedroom. The picture is great. Right out of the box, plug and play. The remote is basic, but this is a basic TV and I'll be controlling the TV via my Tivo, so I don't care about the remote.
The one complaint (hence only 4 stars) is the sound. I'm here to confirm that the speakers sound almost identical to my alarm clock radio. Although the sound is less than desirable, it offers an audio output via Digital Audio Coax cable (so you can connect to external stereo, etc). If you're looking for a great sounding TV and planning to utilize the TV speakers, this is not the TV for you. Since this is in my bedroom and used as a second TV, it'll work just fine.
Other than the low quality sound, it is as advertised. Great buy for those of us who have not made the jump to HiDef yet.
- Is this a good LCD TV? Quite possibly, if "good LCD TV" isn't an oxymoron. There's the motion blur, which was even worse than I expected, and pixelization that's visible at all times but worse when there's motion, a little insult to add to your injury. Color and clarity on still images is very good, as I'd expect of a high quality LCD display. But I spent far less on my LCD computer monitor, and it has significantly better color and clarity (admittedly at much higher resolution) than this set.
Sound can only be described as miserable. Maybe we shouldn't expect much of a small, thin, flat panel, but providing bass and treble controls on this unit seems as silly as outfitting a moped with a nitrous injector.
A 20" set seems most likely intended for use in places like the bedroom, where viewers are likely to be fairly close to the screen, and where it's unlikely the set can be hooked up to a sound system. Since it doesn't provide good close-up viewing, and since the sound quality is so poor, I'm not sure this set has any really good applications. I ended up keeping the 20" analog Philips I already had setup in my bedroom and used the new Sharp to replace a 13" monophonic Sanyo in my daughter's room. Although the sound quality's worse, at least she has both channels now.
If you're looking for a way to prepare your less demanding viewing areas for DTV, this isn't the way to do it. Go to your local discount retailer and pick up an analog 20" set (while you still can) and plug it into whatever set-top box you happen to have at your disposal. That'll provide very watchable TV for years to come, and save you about $200 over the price of this set.
- This replaced a 13" CRT in the kitchen and fit nicely below the cabinets with a very small foot print. The picture quality is excellent with a wide viewing angle. After purchasing a 20" wide angle LCD for a bedroom we went back to the 4:3 format to use the entire screen. Others commented about poor sound but the sound is good for a kitchen or small room with base and treble adjustments. If I hadn't purchased the wide angle for the bedroom I would have purchased another LC20S7U. This one has a better quality picture for a lower price plus the 4:3 format which is most of our transmitted programs.
- Researched all the comparables, checked prices from all the Biggies, Best Buy, Cir. City, etc. Amazon had the best price by far. The Sharp Aquos is simply the best picture quality for the price. No question here. I have the 15" and bought another (20") because I'm sold on Sharp's quality picture and sound.

- MY tv needed repair and i was told to shipped it to arkansas which cost me $46.I did on april 24. i receive a refub on mAY7.It worked for 5 min. i shipped it back may8. Philips did pay for the shipping but as of MAY 28 i am still waiting for a replacement.I was told they should know something by JUNE
1 I will never buy another philips product
- Great price for what you get, but the quality of hte product isn't all that great. The picture isn't as crisp and clear as you would expect. I thought the sound was fine. Overall if you have to pay more than $300 it's not a good deal.
- ORDERED PRODUCT, PAID FOR PRODUCT, RECEIVED PRODUCT PROMPTLY, PRODUCT FUNCTIONS AS ADVERTISED. WHAT ELSE CAN ONE ASK FOR?
- I bought this TV, sight unseen, with little research into LCD TVs or even into the HDTV technology.
I love my little TV. It has a great picture quality and the sound is incredible!
The remote is easy to use, and the weight of the TV itself is amazing. I can set this on a bookcase and not have to invest in a piece of furniture just for the TV. It's definitely a product I would recommend.
- I received this item as a shelf pull from a Big Box store, and immediately noticed the large sticker on the base telling me that it's only got an analog tuner so it won't be able to get an over air signal after Feb of whenever, so if you're looking for a digital tuner, look elsewhere.
Anyway, I agree with the others on the volume issue, it's rather loud at the 1 setting on the volume, especially when I'm trying to go to sleep, but it's not a deal breaker, and is easily adjusted by using the volume control on your input devices (you might be surprised to know that many cable boxes and DVD players have their own volume controls)
The picture is great, and it makes a more than appropriate bedroom TV, if you can tweak the volume controls a little.

5 comments about Westinghouse SK-32H240S 32-Inch LCD HDTV.
- Great TV. Great company to purchase Great TV from. Best deal I found for a TV of this size and type.
- When I first got my Westy, it was wonderful. It had a great picture and was anything you could ask for with an HDTV.
... and then 5 months after the purchase the power supply on my TV died. now I'm questioning the Westinghouse brand.
On the other hand, Westinghouse customer service was awesome about it. I called them a few times with questions about the unit, and I only had to wait on hold once... for less than a minute. The customer service center is all in the U.S. as well.
When I called about the bad TV they immediately arranged to take care of it.
It was a good TV, they have good customer service, but the longevity of the unit is questionable.
- I purchased a Westinghouse TV and within 4 months the TV was broken. At that point I called customer support and they were NOT willing to stand behind thier product. I asked if they found it reasonable for a TV go out in 4 months, all they said was that they could not help me.
- I've never reviewed a product on Amazon before despite my many purchases here. However, I've been so frustrated by this particular TV that the time has come. I was able to use my TV for about 10 minutes - during which I have to say it looked and sounded pretty good - and then the sound went out. Completely. I returned the unit at my own cost to Westinghouse. That was in April 2008, this is almost July, and I still...don't...have a TV. Their warranty process is completely screwed up, and though the agents on the phone are plenty nice, they can't do a darn thing. So enjoy the TV if it works for you, but if it doesn't, be prepared for a long, drawn-out torture of customer service absurdity. You've been warned.
- I bougth this tv last February at Wal-Mart after 4 months the unit just won't turn on.Called up Westinghouse and they said it might be the power cord i tried buying another power cord which cost me, and still the problem is still the same. I don't recommend this product to anybody..

5 comments about LG 37LB5DF 37-inch 1080p LCD HDTV.
- The HDTV picture is sharp and the colors are crisp and clear. Flesh tones are excellent. Standard def picture is very good. DVD picture is very good. The viewing angle is good. Sound is very good. The controller and the on-screen menu are easy to use and follow. I highly recommend this t.v.
- The LG 37 is one of a very few 37 inch LCD units that are full 1080p displays. For those of us who want the best HD picture we can get, this is a good choice. The picture is clear and crisp and the audio is typical of sets of this type, which means if you want great audio, add a sound system. I found the controls somewhat hard to decipher, but once I got the idea, fine adjustments to color and sound were easy. I had no problem finding hanging hardware. Trivial complaint is the large red off light that I can do without.
- The TV came as promised. Very quick actually. No issues with packing. Set-up was pretty easy. Getting the picture quality up to the same quality as my girlfriends Sharp Aquos has not been easy though.
I started by swapping out the HD cable box, and, then had the cable company come out to the house to check the signalling. I upgraded to HDMI cabling but while the LG has a very good picture, i don't feel it is as high quality as other reviewers had suggested.
The remote works well, easy to figure out.
Overal all nice, but not superior.
- I did a ton of research on LCD and other flat screen TVs prior to purchasing this, I really wanted a full HD TV on my 37" screen despite the fact that many places said that on TVs smaller than 45" the difference wasn't noticeable. I got what I wanted and so far I love it! Great picture and great sound also!
- The picture is good on this TV, but the remote is very user unfriendly....small buttons close together and all alike. It is in a bedroom and almost impossible to change channels in the dark. Also I don't like the way the channels are set up. After each channel there is a dash and a 0 or another number that makes no sense to me whatsoever. It is set up in four channel types: TV, DTV, CADTV, CATV....why I am not sure...it is just confusing to me. I guess that is why they price was reduced on this unit. I should have sent it back, but I found that too much problem. Had I read a review stating this information I would not have ordered the TV. I cannot recommend it.

5 comments about Toshiba 42AV500U 42-Inch 720p LCD HDTV.
- The Toshiba 42AV500U is an execellent value. I was very pleased with the picture quality, brightness, and viewable angle. I have not tested it with HD yet. It is easy to setup and use.
- This TV is amazing. We own 3 Toshiba's. 2 of the 26" Regzas and this new model. It has a great sound system, and a beautiful picture. I would definitely recommend this TV to anyone.
- I've had this tv for a few weeks now and am very pleased. I've had more expensive LCDs previously (Sony and Samsung), and personally I don't notice a difference in quality. Easy to use features, sound is good, looks good. Only downfall is that there are only 2HDMI inputs.
- From the time I ordered till this very moment (three weeks later) both the shipping and the TV are perfect.
Great HD picture and great sound. Yes get this one, and the price was perfect too!
-
I recently purchased a Toshiba 42AV500U 42" LCD Flat Panel Television, and I was blown away by the performance and quality. Every channel looks good, and the HD channels are spectacular. The definition is sharp, the color is rich and the sound is crystal clear. I'm considering buying a 26" for the bedroom, and will definitely look at Toshiba first. I am very happy with this television, and for those who want high quality, a nice ample screen size and are on a budget, let me highly recommend this television as the one to own.
5 Stars!
