  1. This is my first HDTV. I bought this TV to replace my old SDTV and my fairly new dell monitor. The game options also peaked my interest. As a computer monitor it has met all expectations. I have large space to work with and everything looks great. I haven't played many games yet but I haven't seen any ghosting in TF2, Vampire: TM, or Audiosurf. Be sure to set the view mode to Dot to Dot when using this as a monitor, it looks best that way.

I have my WII, PS3, and PS2 hooked up also. WII and PS2 games look just as good as they did on the SDTV. I am only using the PS3 as bluray player/dvd upscaler at the moment. Bluray looks great and DVDs look a lot better than they did on SDTV.

Over the air HD looks great. SD over cable looks good to unwatchable depending on which channel I watching. Unfortunately the channels I want most are not offered in HD yet by comcast. The scifi channel is extremely bad and is the channel I care about the most. I might cancel my cable until they have HD for it. There is no SD channel that looks better than it did on my SDTV. You will want to keep this in mind if you are watching mostly SD.

The best thing about this TV is it has inputs up the wazzu. No need to buy a $50 to $100 hdmi switch box with this tv. Note also the component inputs are 1080p as well.

The bad thing about this monitor is that there is no DVI input. I am using a dvi to hdmi cable for the computer. This is the only way to get the resolution I want. Another poor point is the way you change inputs. They way it is setup makes using a universal remote hard. They didn't include a separate button for each input. Instead you have the cycle through to the one you want. There is no way for a universal remote to know which input you are currently on so you can not setup a macro to switch to different devices because the remote will never know how long to cycle through inputs to get to the device you want. If each button input had a button assigned to it using a universal remote would be easy. Minor problem but enough to take off a star for me.

One more thing that is bad about this tv. There is no Picture in Picture or Picture Beside Picture. Given all they packed into this TV I find this odd to leave off.

Even with the problems I think this is a great TV. No ghosting or banding. No dead pixels. Just the right sized for my small apartment. Not perfect but darn close.

  2. The only drawback is high price, but SHARP LC-32GP3U has the best picture and sound quality of any 32" LCD TV currently on the market. 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution works great as PC monitor using DVI-to-HDMI cable. Very slick design. No regrets.

  3. This is my first and only HDTV. I do have to say it is by far the best I have ever owned. I normally buy high end TV's and this is certainly one. Picture quality is great, and the user friendliness is easy.

  4. Sharps AQUOS LC32GP3U exceeded all my expectations. After an intense education process about HD TV's. I knew I wanted a good picture (even with an antenna only) along with enough hookups and choice in hookups for my VHS, DVD, Games, etc.. Sharp really accommodated my main concerns without buying added equipment or cables for what I already had. This LCD really accommodates every hook up possible except DVI, the newer upgrade to HDMIx3 was not needed for my use because I'm not using this as a computer monitor. The ability to hook this up to a computer and use it for on-line use was also an appealing option. The swiveling base as also a nice feature as well as the slim design and extra side hookups for easy access for games camcorders etc. From the moment I pulled this out of the box to full set up it took less than twenty minutes. Very easy to work and I didn't need to rely on the manual or a professional to install my TV, as a single female I didn't need a strong man to pick it up for me either. I highly recommend this TV and may even purchase another one for my sons games. The only draw back is watching VHS, which is not set up for HD quality. Even liked the analog stations, but not as well as the HD. I am not disappointed at all.

  5. Excellent product with good sound from the speakers in front. The LCD has the ability to recognise the active port and is capable of displaying PS3 games in 720p & 1080p when connected via HDMI. The regular DVD's also have better clarity and sound.

A good product for a person wishing to operate a gaming system on, highly recommended.

  1. We had been looking for a LCD TV and found this model that would fit into our existing space. The price on Amazon was considerably less than local stores. We recieved the item in less than a week in good condition. Was a little skeptical about ordering something of this size and cost on the internet, but we would do it again.

  2. After much research I decided to go with Samsung. So far it has lived up to the good reviews and I am quite pleased with it.The price including shipping was $300 better than anywhere else and was delivered sooner than expected. So far this is about my 5th purchase from Amazon and all have been very satisfactory.

  3. I was a bit skeptical on my first purchase of a television from Amazon. But received great service and a fantastic product. A little trouble with the delivery company but quickly sorted and delivered on the agreed date including set-up!

I was happy with the product and purchased a second television within 3 months.

  4. This TV is so clear, sounds good, and over all looks sharp in design. I am very pleased with my purchase. Seeing movies and shows like never before. If I was you, I would buy this TV from warehousedeals.com.

  5. Went with Consumer Reports recommendation and purchased this product. It is high quality, easy hook-up and a great buy. Shipping was fast. Would recommend this product!

  1. PROS

    Video:

Consistent high picture quality across all resolutions, but at times consistently over saturated at 480i analog. With available custom user settings, the SE94 allows one to set a custom preset 480i color compensation. All the following were reviewed via Cable TV setting, DVD player or using the [...] test DVD.

    color balance
    image movement
    still
    sharpness
free of artifacts: jaggies, ghosting, image runs, especially in fast motion video

These are the settings I've tested:
480i via analog TV signal or digital
480p standard DVD output and digital TV
    720p Broadcast HD digital
    1080i Broadcast HD digital
    1080p DVD output upconverting

Sharp's advanced video features are set at default, most are OFF. The test DVD showed a small amount of red color bleed and slight staggering in anti-aliasing tests, but no moire patterns.

I compared the video with input provided by a Sony NS700H/B DVD Player. The video is inferior via composite but there is little difference in images between component and HDMI inputs. I compared audio RCA cables instead of component cables on the component jack and was surprised by a slightly degraded picture, so slight it would not be noticed unless it was compared against HDMI.

HDMI offers some convenience features: it auto selects the HDMI input once signal is detected, and turns off the device automatically once the TV is turned off.

    Tuner:

Includes NTSC, ATSC and QAM tuner. The QAM tuner allows access to 'open' digital channels, not advertised by the cable company.

    Shipment:

Via Amazon ordering, deliverer carefully followed sign off instructions to the letter: allowed me to examine the condition of the box at delivery, open box, and examine contents before I signed off on the delivery.

    Setup:

Quick and easy. Attach speakers then mount stand, all screws or bolts supplied with tools. Plug into AC and cable coax, and the SE94 automatically detects signal and begins EZSETUP process. Follow onscreen instructions and when done, the TV is ready to watch cable or air broadcasts.

For Input jacks, equally easy. Just snap on the cables as color coded or the HDMI, then select INPUT from the remote until you receive signal from the device. On HMDI devices, it auto detects signal and auto selects that input first.

Setup is unique per input. The SE94 remembers the volume and video setting of each input.

    Packing:

Very durable and sturdy. The lower half of the box serves as a stand until you can assemble the enclosed stand. Importantly, the styrofoam pads never go farther than the metal frame of the LCD panel, and thus do not touch the glass panel anyway. It would be wise to save the box in case this TV needs to be returned, its very customized to the TV and difficult to provide the same protection for shipping as this box.

    Instructions:

The Sharp manual is not as well written as a Sony manual. It seems to require more careful reading, whereas Sony's has always been user friendly.

    Cables:

None supplied. I used or bought cables elsewhere.

    Faux leather trim:

Is almost invisible, other TVs with shiny metallic borders often get dulled by fingerprints, the faux leather appears cleaner longer because it hides dirt better.

    CONS

Remote layout poor but provides access to all the TV's functions: related or frequently used buttons are not grouped logically together and often small; it can't be operated without looking at the keys, e.g. the universal controller has a toggle that lights up LEDs when its set for DVD, VCR, TV etc., whereas on a Sony, these are all unique buttons, and easier to find and press.

Bands: Using the detailed [...] TV tests, slight bands were detected on my SE94 using 'grey scale' test, its otherwise most invisible. On some LCD TV forums, there are reports of sizable bands in the SE94 series that are annoying and can be seen in regular video. Just how common these are is unknown.

Volume is a tad weak: at 15Wx2 its rated stronger than many competitor LCD TVs yet it output is weaker compared to my old analog TV. The emulating 'Surround' algorithm of Sharp is not as 'surround' as the SRS algorithm.

    CONCLUSION:

Given the audio issue, I'd rate it 4.5 Stars versus 5. The video is so stellar, it more than outweighs the audio drawbacks. Buyers should be cautious that reports of banding has been reported in the SE94 series, and it can be very troublesome.

  2. Very good picture. The high-def image looks amazing. I've only had two small problems with it. First, I'll sometimes hear a high-pitched noise when changed from a digital channel to an analog channel. This goes away if I switch back to digital, then to analog again. Second, I've had the picture not display when turning the TV on. To fix this, I turn the TV off, wait for a few minutes, then turn it back on.

  1. Many folks are going for the samsung lcds because the blacks look blacker.
but those tv's have a glass screen that reflects everything. This tv is sharper than a xbr4 or xbr5 , those were last years models. the engine in this tv is equivalent to a xbr6. I replaced a great 50 inch sony sxrd
tv with this one. Sony's newer 52's didn't have all the features of this one. the s, v, and w's are fine tv's but they don't have deep color the new color standard that future discs will have. Nor do they have x.v. color which is here already and is used in digital photos. this one does. the w does have 24fps or film speed that words with a ps3 or blu ray player to show a movie in it's real speed. Of course this isn't a benefit for older dvd's as they are processed in a 2:3 rate anyways. that means that one frame is dropped for every 3 shown. but for blu ray this feature rocks. And like ALL lcds standard non hd tv looks ok but they don't put standard tv on in showrooms. so people take these tv's home and expect it to look like HD content. this is true for all lcds, plasmas , lcos , dlp's and the rest. But this tv shines with hd content and blu ray. However, I will miss the extra four inches of screen. but this tv is in many ways future proof for a while. the 120hz feature for motion and other features make it one of the best tv's made so far. The toshiba 540 and 550 series are comparible but this tv is the clearest of the new tv's. xbr 7's will come soon but they will be much more expensive. the jump in size from 46" to 52" is also a substantial jump in price. So I can live with a 46" tv with this quality. This tv took 2 days to get to denver. which is great! I picked it up myself as the box and tv are not too large and this means I don't have to hang around waiting for a delivery. I would say that if you have a smaller tv 46' or less go down to ceva wharehouse and get it yourself. This tv though with it's three key features: deep color, x.v. color and 24p or 24 frames per second film speed for blu ray only I would say make this tv in many ways future proof. I knew when I bought the sxrd that new technology wasn't far off that technology is here on the sony z series and it's good enough on the sony to make the tv a keeper for many , many years.

  2. Ive not got alot to say except if you are looking for
a great LCD/Flatpanel TV, not just a good one, you've found
it. Put it in your car and check out.
You are now the owner of the best LCD on the market.

  3. Were it not for my current problem, I would rate this TV a 4 or 5. I did exhaustive research on LCD televisions and made repeated trips to stores to compare picture quality and features. I gravitated to this particular set for its small footprint (bezel) around the screen, the exceptional picture quality and the Sony name. I have always known Sony TVs to be high quality and reliable........until now.

I babied this puppy on delivery, as if it were fine crystal. It sits on top of a cabinet, free-standing, with plenty of ventilation in a large room. For 23 days it worked great. Then a powerful windstorm knocked out power in NE Ohio and took down cable across the region. The following day I had the TV on throughout the day as I waited for cable to be restored. Late in the afternoon I noticed vertical lines across the screen instead of simply a blank screen.

The set was totally unresponsive via remote or otherwise. It didn't even work with my Sony DVD player --just random vertical lines and no sound. I called Sony. They put me in touch with their technical repair contractor, QualServe. They sent a tech 8 days later. The guy replaced the heart of the thing....the main processor and circuit board. No change. He was stumped and called Sony. After a long conversation heordered a new LCD screen!! 2 wks for delivery to QualServe then another week for them to send one of their techs out to install the thing.

I am awaiting resolution. When all is said and done, it will be 4 wks of repair time for set I had a mere 23 days.....and given what they're replacing it will essentially be a new TV. My out of pocket costs for the repair? Loss of TV for a month and the bill for the cable I cannot watch. Sony has been responsive and apologetic to a certain point but also unwilling to send a new set in the box.

FOR THOSE ORDERING THROUGH AMAZON --- be advised, I ordered this TV on Amazon from a company called 'OneCall'. Amazon TOTALLY screwed up the purchase and shipping info. Amazon is usually stellar and organized with these things, I do not know what happened. The OneCall people were good to work with however I was surprised they were not more concerned about the mix up.

  4. It's my first HDTV, so I decided to go with the top of the line. I have not been disappointed! The menu is easy to use and has all the functions. I also got a PS3 and the two work great together. I have ATT U-Verse and when the compression isn't too heavy the picture rocks! The only drawback would be when you turn the TV on the TV banner stays on for 30 seconds. I am sure there is a way to turn it off, i just haven't found it yet. Overall a GREAT purchse and the delivery was quick and easy.

  5. I have had a Westinghouse 1080p 42inch monitor for a few years and have really been pleased with it. However, with the new features on the market (120hz, 24p, etc) I was ready to upgrade. I initially ordered a Samsung LN46A550 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV. The picture was actually really good on this set, but the glare on the case was VERY annoying. It also lacked the features I was looking for in a new set, but I tried it out because the price was so good. The glare was too much to put up with, so I sent it back and started to research Sony's since they are one of the few sets on the market that you can still get without a glossy case.

I sure am glad that I found Bravia Z series! WIthout going up to an XBR, the Z series is the way to go. If you look at the specs - most of the high end features offered by the XBR are already in the Z series, so it is a really good value when viewed that way. It makes sense why the Z is not offered in a 52 inch size - it would probably really impact sales of the XBR. What a great looking TV (both the picture and the case). I have been extremely impressed with both the blacks on this LCD as well as the vivid colors it produces. The amount of picture calibration offered on this setup is remarkable - especially compared to my old Westinghouse. I find the 24p mode on Blue Ray disk to be quite impressive - it really adds a whole new level of enjoyment to watching Blue Ray movies. The 120hz mode is also wonderful when watching football. I really cannot say enough good things about this TV - spend the extra money that the Sony brand demands, and you get what you pay for.

Although I did not have the issue with this TV, there is a lot of discussion around the Internet about a sparkle issue that this TV has. Be advised that this was an issue, but Sony has released a firmware update that resolves the problem. I have done the update and everything is running great.

If you are on the fence between this and the Samsung LN46A650 (which is in the same feature class as the Sony), be aware that the Samsung has a very glossy screen - not to mention a sure to be dated red outline on the case. This really kills one of the great features of LCD's! The only Samsung I would even consider against this Sony is the Samsung LN46A550 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV, but it lacks 120hz, 24p, and has that hideous glossy case. It seems to me that there is no viable competitor to the Sony Bravia Z-Series KDL-46Z4100!

Another side note... When my TV was delivered they also picked up the Samsung for return. The delivery guys were telling me that they have to pickup Samsungs EVERY day because people are returning them. He said they have never had to pickup a Sony. This is proved if you look at the used/new link under the Samsung and Sony's - you will see tons of open box Amazon Warehouse Deals on the Samsungs - but none on the Sony's!

  1. 15 Lcd Flat Panel Tv, Black
I have the LC 15AV7U which has the speakers on the sides. Still a 4:3 format. The picture is great and sound is good for the small speakers. Okay for a small setting. If you want to connect to a surround sound system, the LC15AV7U has a Digital Coax Output for that purpose. It also has a headphone jack if you want silence. Good TV. Mine has both ATSC and NTSC tuners.

  2. I already own a older Sharp 15 inch TV and have had no trouble out of it so I picked out this one and have had great service so far it has a great picture and the sound is fine I don't think you can go wrong with this one the price is great and shipping is free and no Tax.

  3. My TV stopped working after less than 3 months (convientiently 2 weeks past the 90 day labor warranty). To get it fixed I would have to pay at least $150 in labor and shipping on a TV that cost less than $300. What a racket!! How could I ever trust another Sharp product after this experience. What has happened to product quality?

  4. I am very happy with our decision to purchse this TV for our kitchen. I read the reviews regarding poor sound quality and almost didn't purchase this TV, but I'm glad we did. The sound is fine and the picture is great.

  5. The tv is the perfect size for my need. The sound is tinny and the picture is ok - not great. It was very easy to set up and program with just a cable cord.

  1. The Sony Bravia KDL-26M4000 is by far the best Sony TV I have ever purchased. The picture quality is unbelieveable. Although this tv is a
HDLCD, I don't have HD service but the picture is just like HD with just a cable hook-up. I highly recommend this model.

  1. We received this LG last week and couldn't be happier. My husband set it up himself and had it programmed and ready to go in a short time. The picture is great and we are extremely pleased with the sound. We looked at many LCD's before making this purchase and I know we made the right choice. The price, unbelievable. No matter which angle you look at the screen, the picture is clear and sharp. It doesn't matter if the room is dark or well lit, great picture!!!

  2. Good deal for the price. I bought this instead of the Samsung 550. The only problem is the remote - Consumer reports rated it down - I wasn't all that concerned, but I tried to program it for my Samsung DVD/Surround Sound system and it wouldn't work. I e-mailed LG and they said they wouldn't guarantee compatibility with other components - which is fine - but I thought Samsung was a well known brand enough for it to be compatible.

  3. Picked this set up at Frys last week, I was weighting it against the new Vizio 47 inch 120Hz. Read that the Vizios 120Hz mode left something to desire. Got this LG for $1399 which is an incredible deal for this TV, actually same as the Vizio. 120Hz is great for viewing broadcast, when watching DVD it makes the picture funky. Overall picture quality is great, sound is also very good. Love the swivel stand and the sleek design. The USB in is a great little feature, just plug your usb drive or camera in and do a slideshow while playing your favorite music, great when entertaining guests!
Menu is easy to navigate. The only low is the remote not being backlit and no quick button for subtitle which I use alot. Also the power button on the front is going to be a pain once our 1 yr old figures out that it actually is a button. He turns off all tvs he can.

  4. I recently purchased this TV from Fry's Electronics for about $1400.00 with tax. I have been waiting (for almost a year) for the Samsung 650 to drop below $2000 but finally decided to go with this LG. I could not believe the price of this television given it is 1080p and 120 hz. So far, I could not have made a better purchase. The sound is great and the picture is absolutely wonderful. I've been watching movies on Blu-ray and playing games on my Playstation 3. My jaw drops every time. The picture is really incredible. To be perfectly honest, I couldn't see a difference between this television, the Samsung 650/750 and the Sony XBR. Now that it is in my living room I have no regrets. It looks amazing!!!

  5. Had to return it within a week because of a 1/2 inch blue dot that had formed in the middle of the screen. Got the second one home and the faux chrome decorative piping at the bottom of the frame peeled right off when I (carefully) removed the protective plastic. The picture is wonderful for most applications; it has excellent color and deep, rich blacks. The standard audio and the surround-sound simulation are both very good. I'm not entirely sold on the 120Hz feature, though. Couldn't really notice any difference with it on or off while watching football or hockey in HD. I guess plasma is still the king when it comes to fast-motion applications. Still a very good buy. I might more strongly consider the Samsung A650 or Panasonic Plasma if I had it to do over again.
