- At first, I completely LOVED this dvd player because it played everything from everywhere, and did so everytime!... One year later, I relunctantly LIKED this dvd player, because it still played everything from everywhere, but no longer did it do so everytime!... Two years later, I totally LOATHE this dvd player, and the dirty, lousy, rotten, stinkin' company that made this P.O.S. dvd player, ("Just-What-I-Needed" is flippin' right!), because it won't play anything from anywhere at anytime, anymore!... And the company replied to me, when I asked about "BUYING A NEW REMOTE CONTROL", that I'd "NEED TO BUY A WHOLE NEW PLAYER"! How's THAT for something I did NOT need? "jWiN iS tHe DeViL!"

- I bought the Polaroid because it had a swivel screen and advertised three hour batterly life. WITHIN 2 DAYS of buying it the screen was starting to flicker. Within a week the only way I could see an image on the screen was by twisting the screen a bit (like a potato chip). I'm taking it back today.
By the way. The unit comes with a case, but the battery pack will not fit in the case with the player. Oops!
Looking at the warrentee card, it only comes with a 90 day warrantee. I'm not risking my money with another one. I'll shop for a more durable model.
- After spending about $300 for this in October 2004, I was disappointed when the power cord stopped staying in place. Unfortunately, I waited too long to report it, so it will be cheaper to buy a new unit than have this one repaired. Also, even though we did not use the battery very often, it will no longer hold a charge (not even a minute). No more Polaroid electronics for me.
- The car adapter cord started coming loose after only a few months of use. Which means the movie stops and has to be restarted by jiggling the cord (VERY upsetting for a small child!) We finally solved this by leaving the battery pack in even while it was plugged in (which the product advises not to do as the battery has a memory.) Then we discovered that the Polaroid had been ruining our DVDs! There are circular scratches on them. My husband tried to salvage them by copying them onto a new DVD but many of them he could not save. The DVDs will only play part way and then the screen starts getting stuck. We have also had issues with error messages from the Polaroid thinking there was no DVD in or that the door was open to the DVD player. This product only has a 90 day warranty - I think it is quite clear why they don't warranty it longer!
- I did like the product in the beginning. Two months later, it stopped running the disk. Having read other reviews, now I do not even think about bringing it back to the retailer to fix it. Polaroid is always my favorite brand so this experience was quite dissapointing.
- Initially bought this in July 2004. It worked fine for just over a year. Then it quit working (DVD would just spin & try to read, but no go). Called Polaroid & they invited me to send in the old unit at my expense along with $50 for a replacement (an out-of-warranty replacement), which I did. They sent back a newer model of the same player, which again lasted slightly over a year. Soo... I think it's time to try a new brand. Assuming Polaroid still offers the same replacement deal, I figure I get a $60 model of some cheapy brand and if it makes it at least a year, I'll breakeven and I won't have to make a trip to the post office and wait several weeks for the replacement.

5 comments about Sylvania 6727DC 27-Inch TV-DVD-VCR Combo.
- The TV and DVD fuctions are great. The only problem I have is when I watch a VHS there is a loud hum while a tape is inside (Playing or not) the unit. That hum makes it impossible to covertly watch an adult movie without getting caught by your spouse. Also, when you hit stop the unit makes a loud noise. The DVD portion is quiet and the transition back to a cable channel is fast and soundless. Bottom Line. If you are watching something you don't your wife to know about use the DVD. Still a good buy for a bedroom TV. I also have it hooked up to my mini sound system and it looks and sounds great.
- I bought this unit at Sears, and they will not help resolve the problem. Within 6 months of purchase, the VCR will not stop or eject, and the TV powers down every time it is turned on. So even the TV will not work Sears wants $90 to come see the problem. Funai(manufacturer) says the VCR will never work properly and gave me instructions to unplug the TV for 45 minutes, then trick the VCR into ejecting by pressing fast forward and eject. Tried this over the course of 3-4 hours, with no results. Manually got the tape out of the VCR and the TV still won't come on. My wife and I put the whole thing in the trash. I am not spending another dime on it. With a lousy warranty like this, I'm very unhappy with Sears and Funai.
- I have had my Sylvania TV for over a year now, and have never had a problem with it at all. The picture is nice and crisp, DVD and VCR have not given me any problems, and the sounds quality is quite good. The only problem I havehad at all is that no universal remote (my TiVo and Comcast remotes specifically) seem to work with it. If anyone happens to find a code for it, let me know! I would and do recommend this item.
- This is a really basic TV, with one strange, exotic twist. In spite of NO analog sound outputs on the back, there is a single DIGITAL output--and it only works with the DVD/CD player. If you want to listen to the TV or VCR through your home speakers with an amplifier, you're out of luck. To me, this is a colossal mistake of the highest order. The VCR player is very noisy and slow when accepting a tape, and the CD player fast forward feature is very jerky--no comparison to my 1986 Pioneer 6-disc player smoothness (and I thought technology was improving?!) Don't waste your money. Get a TV that has at least one set of analog RCA outputs on the back. I'm happy to say I didn't waste my money--my wife won this in a radio contest.
- We just brought home this TV from Sears, after our 1yr old & 2yr old pulled our 32" TV off the stand and broke it. We hefted the extremely heavy thing into our house and plugged it in. The first thing we noticed was the loud humming noise that I am guessing the VCR is making (with or without a tape in it). SInce they are all attached you cannot just turn off the VCR, so the loud noise stays on. You have to turn the sound up very high in order to cover up the noise.
2nd Problem: We immediately noticed the screen was slightly bouncing. It is especially noticable when words are on the screen.
These problems were noticable immediately after we plugged it in, and we are taking it straight back to sears ASAP!
Our experience has been horrible with this one, I suggest purchasing a different Unit.

5 comments about SONY DVP-NC615/B 5-Disc DVD Changer.
- I ordered this DVD player before reading the reviews here, and that was a mistake. It plays normally about 50% of the time, and the other 50% it looks like it has a tracking error, even though there's no such thing on DVD's. My experience with Sony trying to get this fixed has been laughable, as they always say it's the DVD's, which always play fine on my PlayStation2. Support is terrible, so I'd recommend against buying this unless you like a nice looking paperweight.
- I've always recommended and purchased Sony brand. I didn't buy mine at Amazon.com, but I'm here 10 months later to buy a replacement. It stopped reading DVDs yesterday. I removed the cover expecting to find the sensor needed cleaning. What I found was that the disc motor isn't spinning it up to speed any more. Reading the other reviews, it's clear this isn't an isolated incident.
- I got the NC615 (not from Amazon) in July 2002 primarily to check for DVD-R playability and quality control (I'm a video producer and burn DVDs for clients). I had a total of about 3 hours use on the player in the first 8 months I owned it. Then I bought Sopranos DVD sets and started using it more regularly.
It was then I noticed it would stall, freeze, and then cut off periodically. At first it was so infrequent that I tried to attribute it to disc abnormalities and let it go. Dealing with defective products is such an incredible hassle . . . expensive shipping, multiple calls and many, MANY minutes on tech support hold lines, pulling out entertainment centers and dealing with a mass of wires and dust in a small spaces, etc. Also, since the measly 90 day labor warranty (by far much more important than parts) had long passed, I knew I'd likely be footing 90% of any repair bill at that point anyway, so I succumbed to the denial that the player was at fault. I could only delude myself a few months longer as the problem got worse and worse, the player eventually freezing and shutting off 5-10 times during any viewing session longer than 20 minutes. Of course by this time, the parts warranty had also conveniently expired. But since I've dropped over $20,000 on professional Sony video equipment in recent years, I thought Sony customer service just MIGHT want to keep me happy, so I phoned them. I was wrong. I was met with absolute indifference, abruptness, and a refusal to consider the individual circumstances which made it a travesty of fairness for me to have to pay for the repair of this product, which cost well over $200 at the time I purchased it. To make matters even comically worse, my sister was given the same player for Christmas of 2002, and hers started to exhibit similar problems late in 2003, also conveniently well after the labor warranty had expired and just as the parts warranty was expiring. Two out of two identical products with the same defects in one family is hard to attribute to sheer bad luck. This was very likely a lemon product, an inherently defective player with an abnormally short useful life that Sony is refusing to stand behind, even for a loyal customer that's given them many thousands of dollars in business. Because of this unforgivable customer service breach, I will never buy another Sony consumer electronics product and will certainly try to avoid purchase of as many of their pro products as possible. I advise others to STEAR CLEAR of this player and all those in direct succession to it, which is likely to be anything with a model number like NC6##.
- The one good thing about this product is this. When the motor that spins the discs burned out, I was able to buy the identical product with a different problem off of ebay for $20 and replace the motor. So many people have a problem with this product that you can easily pick up an extra one for spare parts.....sad.
I tried to just buy the motor, but Sony has some deal with the manufacturer so they won't sell this $2 motor to anyone but them.
- My DVD no longer works.... Why? I thought it was the discs. I purchased brand new discs opened the package and placed directly in the unit without touching anything elese... Nothing happened. I have always loved SONY brand name. I just finished reading what others have written, I am having a hard time handling the truth... Unforetunately, I have to concur with others that this unit is NOT something to purchase. I hope that its current status of 'Unavailable' is because the people at SONY read these reviews as well....
