- I purchased this DVD player as a second accessory and have been pleased with its performance. It is functional and does have all the options that are desirable in an entry level DVD player. I expect to get many more viewings out of this inexpensive purchase.

- This DVD recorder works fine as documented. The problem is it will only write on older DVD-R and DVD-RW media which are either hard to find or expensive. The fastest DVD-R supported is 4X, DVD-RW is 2X. DVD-R rated at 8X and slower will not work. No firmware updates for faster media are planned.
- I've had this recorder for a little over a week and it works flawlessly, including recordering on DVD-R 8x Media. I actually bought a batch of DVD-R 4x, figuring it would not work on 8x media, based on the manual and the one reviewer. However, I decided to test out an 8x and it worked just fine.
I bought this because my LiteOn LVW-5005 started to act up and fail on the finalization of discs when it was not the fault of the disc. At this early stage, I feel the Funai is a better machine. The test of time might prove otherwise, but for now that is my conclusion.

- DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS,DVD PLAYING IS CHOPPY AT BEST, DOESNT RESPOND TO THE REMOTE HALF THE TIME,WAY TOO MANY STEPS FOR RECORDING SHOWS AND I THINK THE REMOTE WAS LEFT OVER FROM 1984.
- The warranty is for 90 days. After about 4 months we started having problems with it, but wasn't terrible. After one year, we are getting rid of it.
Frustrating!
- Great combo unit at a great price. On-time delivery. Works well. Very happy.
- Delivery was just fine but within 2 months the DVD stopped working then a short time later the VCR stopped working. Now know why this product is not available. Will never buy Sylvania again.

- This was good when I purchased it but there are probably better options now. DVDs look great on my plasma.
- I replaced a regular DVD player with this Oppo unit after I read an independent lab report that ranked it best when compared to 30 other models. The unit works perfectly, has a sleek industrial design and comes with all necessary cables. I noticed a definite improvement in picture quality with DVDs played on my Sony Bravia 46" HDTV compared to my earlier unit.
- i put this unit on my panasonic plasma. it has fantastic features and plays every disk and file type i have tried. updating the firmware was easy and i recommend doing it first thing. i would take a better back lighted remote over the included cables. problem soved with logitech harmony remote. i love that oppo is out there to extend the life of my sd-dvd collection. when i get a 1080p set, a new oppo will soon follow. i highly recommend this product.
- I love it's performance EXCEPT that it doesn't output HDTV resolutions through the component video interface. My TV only has component inputs so this is a big problem for me. Beware, though this may have to do with copy protection compliance or something. Other manufacturers may have the same problem... We're kind of in the dark ages in video world where copy protection trumps functionality every time.
- It appeared to be a good player however it started malfunctioning after 1 year and by the end of the second year no longer worked.

- slim, small and compact. cheap all plastic body. the drive for light weighted design and cost cutting recuded reliability and durabiligy. You won't expect it work for your for over 2 years if your are heavy-duty user. portable design allows you to bring it with you on the run. You may even use it in your car without power converter because the DVD player used standard 12 voltage power.
can play dvd, vcd, svcd, mp3, photo disks with jpeg format files(nice feature, you can view your CD photo album on your TV!), some older avi format(doesn't support latest avi file in motion picture format of those video clips shoot by all Canon digital camera, this is big mistake Koss made).
It won't support real player file, mpeg-4 format, or any other newer computer based movie format.
some fussy about this player is that it produces a lot static charge on it after you played a disk. when you hand touches any button on the player you get electric shock! it is very annoying i guess that's because its body cannot be connected to ground on power outlet due to its design with converter power supply and the heavy of plastic material in the player body. you have to hold your car key to touch the button getting the player discharged! i see many times strong static discharges when i use my car key touching those buttons!
- Bought this one to use at home. Made sure to ventilate it well based on other customer reviews and we've never had the problem with getting shocked. However, it won't play any of our kids' Disney DVDs - guess they are just too loaded (special editions), none of the LOTR DVDs that we have, most of our Film Movement movies (too much extra with all the subtitles?), etc. So we've relegated it to our cabin where it gets used infrequently and only with older DVDs. Might be good as a backup, but don't count on it for every day use.
- Touch n go with this unit, currently on the shelve at the Salvation Army.
- exact product at an affordable price w a smooth transaction
- With this player I can watch DVD's from all over the world. It's neat, clean and easy to use.

- Ok....I read all reviews about the 2600 before I bought it and was really looking forward to purchasing a high quality machine. Boy was I disappointed. The picture is heads above the other portable DVD's I have looked at, there's no argument about that. I find fault with this machine, in that, to change cinema screens you have to stop the machine. I hooked the player up to my television and the Video out, which is NOT seperate from the audio, (you have one plug in to the AV and three plugs going to audio and video)did not work. I hooked my daughters Polaroid DVD player up and it worked flawlessly! My Toshiba costs over twice what I paid for her's. Last, the navigation of the Toshiba is very hard to manuever around. They should have made things a lot simpler to get around this machine. I was really disappointed in this product. I sent it back immedietely.
- After reading all the positive reviews, I decided to buy this model instead of the 2700 (although there appears to be very little difference between the two). Upon opening the box and testing the unit, I immediately noticed a 'hung' pixel in the upper left of the screen. It stays lit (white) on many scenes and becomes annoying at times. I was told that this is not uncommon and that another unit may exhibit a similar flaw.
The picture is very vivid once you get the proper alignment between yourself and the screen. Any movement up or down will necessitate a change in the screen angle to keep the picture quality the same. So, if you watch it from your lap in bed as I do, this may take some getting used to. Also, there are no color or picture adjustments that would allow you to customize the output to suit your tastes. I found this very limiting because some scenes are just too dark and the 4-way brightness adjustment is just not enough to get it right.
As far as the sound is concerned, the speakers are very weak and offer virtually no bass whatsoever (even though they are advertised as bass reflex). Headphones add a lot, but I also noticed quite a bit of distortion. Again, there are no sound controls that would otherwise give you control over this characteristic.
So, although others love this model, I cannot give it super high marks. Oh yes, the battery works fine and it has a remote that you need for many of the 'features', which seems ridiculous for a portable. I guess if you plan to use it to drive your home theater then the remote makes more sense, even though this model doesn't.
At $299 this would be a great value. Above that, it's average at best.
- No Stars would be better. My husband bought me this unit for Christmas. This was his first online shopping experience and he nor I will ever shop from Office Depot, Tech Depot etc..ever again! You think you are buying from Office Depot when your item get shipped from Tech Depot who then denies that they are the same company when you call them. It is impossible to know ahead of time but, they will not return ANY Toshiba products even if they are defective. They did apoligize that Amazon has an incorrect return policy posted on their site.....go figure! Do not purchase from them unless you want absolutely NO support.
- I purchased this player about a year ago and rarely used it. the picture ,the sound and everything else worked just fine until today . the player won't play anything at all . this is terrible . its not like i use it everyday. i recommend this player to no one. stay away.
- My unit was manufactured in March 2004 and died a year and half later after minimal use.
