5 comments about JVC XVN330B DVD Video Player.
- I bought this dvd player in spite of some of the negative reviews because I have always had faith in JVC. My faith was rewarded as it plays all the types of dvds as advertised. And, the picture and sound quality is excellent. For a low price, it does a wonderful job.
- My mother used to say, "If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all". Well Mom, this JVC DVD player is certainly Cheap! Sorry Mom, but I feel I've got to warn others that there may be better choices.
My wife bought this DVD player as JVC was considered a good brand & the saleman told her it was. Yes, it played DVDs, but it could not rewind (play backwards) or fast forward. If those buttons were pushed, this JVC DVD player jumped to random places in the DVD. The controller also had to be within a narrow range (reception cone) to work. My previous Panasonic DVD, which died suddenly, could receive almost anywhere. I also had trouble with the closed caption being properly displayed.
Finally, who designed the black buttons on a black background? Even in bright light they were difficult to see & read, let alone the dim light most TV viewing is done in.
Seems like all DVD players now suffer from having to be China-Cheap & are designed to be poorly designed, frustrating, throwaway items.
- Ever since I bought it, it has worked improperly. It freezes every 10 seconds or so, then unfreezes, and then the counter resets to zero. Of the 30 or 40 dvds I have tried to watch on it, I only know of 4 dvds that it did not freeze-up on.
Don't bother with the replacement plan! It will cost you just as much time and money packaging and shipping this to the service provider. They will not replace or refund any product until they have attempted to fix it several times.
Don't lose faith in JVC. My other JVC works fine. I'm sure this was damaged in the shipping process. But that is not an expense you want to incur.
- I am a long time buyer of JVC products, but lately they seem to be generating nothing but bottom of the line items. I purchased this DVD player when my old JVC DVD player got zapped during a power outage. The old player worked flawlessly for over five years, but this one couldn't even make it through a day. This player skipped and stuttered through every dvd that I tried. I definitely don't recommend this DVD player to anyone.
It's sad to see that a company that used to be my preference for electronics is quickly becoming a company that I will never buy from again.
- This particilar DVD player was purchased because my previous JVC DVD player stopped working. It has since started working again, so this one is used primarily as a CD player. It works fine, but the buttons on the unit black, the unit is black, and the labels are a dark subtle color. If you don't have bright light in the room, you can't see which one to push. Back lit labels would be a huge improvement. The unit is surprisingly light and appears cheaply made, but is still working without issue. It's about 9 months old.

- This is one of the best RJ Tech DVD Players currently. I have seen it used in many small electronics stores as samples and Karaoke parlors. The quality is excellent, and the cost is affordable. The RJ-1900DVX surely will last the buyer many years of use. Makes a high quality, reliable present.

5 comments about Sony DVP-NS575P/S Progressive Scan DVD Player, Silver.
- Just like the majority of the reviews, mine died after a year of very little use. I doubt that it read 60 DVD's. It played everything I threw at it until it died. This player is ripe for a class action suit. This is worse than Sony's old "Error 13" problem. This is the last Sony product I will ever buy. The quality goes out before the name goes on. Welcome to the world of Communist China's electronics.
- Bought this DVD player almost two years ago. Have never had any problems with it. We use it to play DVD's that we rent and are very satisfied with the picture quality and performance.
- This player is complete trash. It lasted only three years before its main chip begins overheating and shutting down the player. Sony wants me to buy a new one???? Rubbish. I paid almost eighty USD us dollars at Best Buy for this trash and they expect me to pay them more? Whatever happend to good craftsmanship? Are they not have no pride in their products? Sony has lost me as a customer. I will not pay Sony anything anymore. Sony, you owe me.
- I have owned this DVD player for 4 years and most of the DVDs I played on this device worked great. No skipping or other annoyance. However, after 4 years, the device is starting to skip a little during movies, and most recently could not play 2 minutes worth of video without stopping the video/audio. While the video/audio is paused, it sounds like the device is trying to read the DVD. I played the same DVD on my computer, and there were no problems at all. So, time for a new device. This time it will not be a Sony.
- I used this solely as a cd player because it is very thin and takes up little space on top of the receiver. I didn't love it while it worked, it took too long to turn on and to eject a cd, sort of slow moving. But the sound was fine and really for the price it was ok. But after 3 1/2 years it just one day stopped turning on. I had to break the cover to get the cd out because it only ejects when it has electricity. So I will look for something new, not Sony, to see if something else holds up better.

5 comments about Initial IDM-1731 Portable DVD Player with 7-Inch LCD.
- Sound and Picture clarity is good, I dislike the batery usage, not good for more than 2.5 hours movie.
- My mom bought this DVD player for my kids this past Christmas. She paid $179, with the promise of a $30 rebate. It stopped working after a month. It runs and runs but nothing appears on screen. Unfortunately, she had purchased it two months in advance of giving it, so that the 90-day warranty had just run out. I called the company and explained that we had only had it since December. After a lot of back and forth, the only solution they offered is for me to give them $49 to fix it, or $79 to replace it. I would rather put $79 towards a real name-brand DVD player. (And the rebate has yet to arrive, two months later...)
- Bought this 3-4 years ago before Portable DVD players became really popular. (I paid like $250+ for it.) It has taken a beating from my 3 yr old..kicking it many, many times, dropping it, etc. and it just keeps going. We mostly use it in the van, but also use the plug in adapter once in awhile. We've never used the battery. It has never skipped (only if the DVD is dirty so not a player problem). The only problem we are having right now is we need a new car adapter and will order one. I bought a second player for my older DD so she can watch her own movies (a Panasonic-only because it was really cheap) so I hope that one lasts just as long. I basically just use mine in the car. There were times that it didn't cut on, but I never power it off so what we do is turn the power button off and then back on and it's good to go. We really got our money's worth.
- Sorry to say, my husband has not even unpacked this DVD player! He wasn't too happy that our daughter bought it. We both told him to hurry up & make up his mind whether we should return it, but he hasn't done that either...
Sorry I can't do better than this.

- When I first purchased this portable DVD player I was quite pleased with it. The picture was clear and the sound came thru nicely. However, after just 6 months of use, it just stopped working. It keeps telling me "no disc". It has only been used by my daughter while sitting in the car so it has not been dropped or abused in anyway.
Now I know why it was on sale. I won't buy this brand again.

5 comments about Disney by Memorex DVD2000C DVD Player (Classic).
- We have had this DVD player for well over a year now with no problems at all...and we're talking about a kid who has scratched the heck out of every DVD he owns! Sorry to say it folks: But either you've got some bad luck in getting the one faulty product in the bunch...or your kids are doing something to the DVD player that they shouldn't.
Besides the complaints of reliability, I'm surprised no one else had pointed out the one thing that irks me to no end: The lack of arrows/menu control on the remote!! In other words...the remote has play, pause, stop, FF, RW...and that's it! I don't know what moron thought of this scheme. Let's see...I buy, say, Disney's Aladdin with a ton of extra features...and there is no way for the DISNEY DVD player to play them! Or even more frustrating: Let's say you pop in a televison series...like Batman the animated series... for example...there's no way to move the selection to play the other episodes!! You better hope that when you pop in a DVD, the highlighted selection defaults on 'PLAY MOVIE' or else your kids are watching whatever it does default to.
I haven't attempted to try an aftermarket remote...but I am completely dumbfounded on why they left selection arrows off. Kids made need things to be simplified, but they aren't stupid.
- I was suprised to read some of the other reviews as we have had ours for 2 years and have had zero problems. It works incredible, easy as can be and I couldn't find a problem with it if I wanted to even with my son banging on it and pressing all the buttons on off, on off, on off....We love it!
- There are reasons why to not buy this:
1.It's terrible!
2.It sucks like azz!!
3.It's only for punk azz littie kidz!!!
4.It Finally broke!!!!(YIPPEE!!)
And...
5.Disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!
I would rather buy a Sony dvd player than this garbage!!!!!
- Disney would only lend their name to outstanding products and it is!! Well made and very kid friendly. It is easy to set up and has 2 remotes (one for parents and one for kids) and they (like the DVD player) are well made. The kid size is perfect for little hands and the parent's is larger. Even my 4 yr old couldn't harm it. The "feet" are removeable so you will get many years of use and it will fit any "Mickey" TV 13" or 19"
- This is the absolute WORST piece of electronic equiptment that I have ever had the misfortune of buying! It worked for a very short period of time and then started making loud noises from time to time. Occassionally it would play for a few minutes then stop again, now it has stopped playing them all together. What a piece of junk! I also had trouble with her portable Disney princess DVD player as well. It had stopped working correctly and I found out that there was a recall on them for using cheap Chinese manufactured batteries. The cheap batteries actually damaged the DVD player but Disney would not replace them, they would only send replacement batteries for it. I am going on record here saying that I will never purchase another Disney product!! Shame on you Mickey!!

- I ordered this DVD player from VCT electronics on January 30, 2008.
It stopped working on April 11, 2008.
This is beyond Amazon's 30 day only warranty, so VCT electronics will do nothing, and I am out of luck, so to speak.
I certainly recommend NOT to buy this DVD player from VCT.

5 comments about Panasonic DMR-ES35VS DVD Recorder / VCR Combo with DV Input.
- Hi,
I read good reviews about the Panasonic DMR-ES35VS DVD Recorder VCR combo, and they turned out to be true. It works great and it was fairly simple to learn how to use it. It is easy to use once you've read the documentation and done it just a couple of times.
The best part for me is being free of VHS
- Was formatting a disk yesterday to record the UH vs Boise game, the machine completely freezes up. Remote doesn't work, even the inputs on the machine itself don't work!!! Was gonna give it a dumpster ride, called Radio Shack, first question out of them was "Did you buy the extended warranty?", evidently I'm a few weeks past one year. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone, wish the US would start manufacturing electronic goods again, I'ld gladly pay the extra money if the quality was there....
- Very well satisfied with this Panasonic Combo Dvd Player & burner. Simple to transfer VHS to DVD-- Easy one button recording fron video-- Excellent manual.
- Bought this product to transfer personal videos to DVD. Easy to operate and have been successful thus far with the transfer.
- I'm a videophile, I have well over 1000 original Hollywood movies as well as home made footage and video that I shot professionally. So I bought a couple machines last year to do the onerous task of transferring video to DVD. This is no fun if you have a lot of material.
The Panasonics have a significantly better video player than the others. This is highly important, especially if your original is less than ideal.
I did have a machine quit but I was about done and it was bought as 'remanufactured' so I don't know its history.
The Panasonic is quite a bit better than the Samsung and the GO Video machines I used previously.
