  1. Picture is not bad when it is working but do not bother to buy this unless you buy a car adapter power cord. When fully charged the battery only lasts about 10- 15 minutes, so unless it is plugged in somewhere get ready for a black screen.

  1. I wanted to tape TV shows and then put them on a DVD to save and share, also wanted to be able to cut out the commercials.
I also wanted to be able to share the shows without knowing or caring what kind of DVD +/- or whatever a friend's machine could play.
This machine does it all. I can record on tape or disk, easily copy from tape to disk or disk to tape. I can cut out the commercials and make the disk readable by any machine.
The instruction book isn't the best, it is a bit confusing, but once I started using the machine I really didn't need the instructions very much.
I did a lot of research on different brands on Amazon and elsewhere before choosing this machine. The features and price were exactly what I wanted and I've been very pleased with it.

  2. Received Emerson DVD Recorder/VCR in timely matter, but DVD did not work. Returned to DiscountJungle for credit. No e-mails received acknowledging their receipt of product and in turn no credit to my credit card. Called 800 number and left message but no reply. As of today 6/1/08 still have not received credit for purchase.

  3. I received it in good time and though the manual power button on the front of the machine does not work, it seems the remainder works with the remote control. I am still testing out the entire system, but so far there have been no other problems with it.

  4. the unit works well and is fairly quick in changing a vhs to disc. i am satisfied with the product

  1. We purchased this item and took it on a plane; it generally works fine. The volume seems a little weak. The picture was not as good as the IPod Classic screen (understandable since the picture is a lot bigger). We ended up using our IPod Classic and putting the ILuv aside....If two or more people were watching the movie, we would likely use it; for individual use, however, its benefits are equivocal.

  2. I am very satisfied w/ the purchase. Good pic. quality. I would recommend
this product for good portable viewing.

  3. Hi, I purchased to view videos with my kids, I used only one time on a plane and while it was in my hardcase carry on bag, inside of a protected sleeve, somehow the screen shattered, it must have been hit by another item in my bag? I wish they would make the screen fold inward when not in use, so that the screen is not exposed to damages all the time. Overpassing this big limitation, the quality, use and features of this product where excellent.

  4. I purchased this as a used item. I saved money which was good. The product works fairly well. The screen is hard to view. The product did not come with either the remote control or the dc power cord. I asked the distributer to send me those items, but so far no response.

  5. I thought I'd like this far more than I do. I had the old iLuv player (the one with the iPod slot on the back), and really liked that one, I thought this would be an improvement on the theme after our old one died of extreme use. This is a fine dvd player, but I feel it falls short in the execution.

First, the pros: it has a beautiful, large screen and playing dvds is fairly straightfoward. They have also added a battery meter so you no longer get surprised with a dead battery and it works with all models of video iPod.

Now, the cons: there's nothing obviously wrong with this, it just isn't very user-friendly. First, the physical unit itself is unweidly. The iPod on the side makes it too large to fit in any cases, and the unit itself has no way to hang it in a car - which is really my primary use(no room for straps, etc.). It's fine to use at home, but for travel it's really too large. Next, although the controls look nice on the unit, I find them very frustrating to use when operating the iPod, I simply can't get it to switch videos without opening it and using the actual iPod controls. Also, they're very easy to hit by accident if you don't lock the keypad.

In the end, it's fine for use at home. I have, however, found myself seldom using it while traveling and instead just giving my son the iPod and some headphones to use in the car. It's also much easier to use as simply a dvd player, which is fine, but there are other stand-alone portable dvd players out there that probably work much better. If I had it to do over again, I would get something else.

  1. Excellent device with amazing clarity. The only fault is the manual is short on detail in some areas while overly detailed on others.

  2. I recently purchased this product from Amazon.com and received it promptly via their free shipping option. It was very easy to set up and after spending about 1 hour reading the instructions, I was ready to try recording with it.

I instered a blank DVD + RW, and was prompted to format the disk which only took about 3 minutes. I then set several programs from my cable network to record. Upon returning home, I checked and all programs were recorded and when played back, were of very good quality. I used the 6 hour EP mode, as the directions indicated that using the 8 hour EP mode may result in poor sound quality.

The recordings were erased after viewing and new programming was set to record. It did just what it was programmed for, and these recordings were also very good.

I have tried the VCR recording mode also and have been quite happy with those recordings also.

Since I am not hooked for digital cable or over the air programming, I have only used the analog tuner for recording.

The only drawback is that it does NOT have an HDMI output, but neither does the TV I have it hooked to, so no big deal for me, but it may bother those who do have HDMI available on the TV.

A GOOD VALUE FOR THE MONEY.

  3. I was a little leary before I purchased because another review described recording as difficult, but it had the best reviews in the price range so I purchased anyway. The connection was really easy but I had to read the manual to be able to operate the player. One quick review though and I started converting my home videos to DVD. I rate it 4 stars for 2 reasons - the player is really loud and because it takes awhile to warm up. The manual does provide instructions for the latter but then the player requires extra power even when turned off. I still recommend for the price.

  4. This product is like dial up internet it is slow. It warms up and turns off like an old pc..Even changing channels is a wait. It will not record DTV on VHS. You must use dvd-Ram disk to get full use of recording. DVD+RW works but you cannot set recording speed and leave it like VHS. You have to go into fuctions and program the managment each time you use it or it records in XP ( 1 hour only ). I have yet to get a full 6 hours of recording as promised, probably due to the formating of disk by the unit. Like most Panasonic operating instructions be prepared to call tech support. You need the remote to operate the machine. VHS works well on Analog broadcast. Except for being so slow the tuner is good for both Analog and DTV. It is claimed to have an instant on funtion with a warning that it uses more power and I would suspect cuts the life of the unit short.

  5. I have this for over 6 months and it locks up when I use the remote to
change channels too fast or other functions, I have to unplug it to get
it back, and yes I have update the firmware. It takes over 3 seconds to
change channels if you press the channel up/down too fast it locks up
and you have to unplug to cycle the power. The analog tuner can not
take a strong signal on channels 7 and 9, I had to put a 10db pad in.

  1. Do not buy this portable DVD player. I have called Disney, Target, and Disney event transferred me to Memorex customer service for help. Memorex doesn't even make these players and never has, so that was 2 hours wasted on the phone. I bought this player online and did not know about the extended warranty, otherwise I would have bought it. We have only used this thing about 5 times and it has been well cared for. This was a special treat for my kids to finally get a portable DVD player and now it is broken and I feel like Target and Disney have ripped us off. I would feel better shopping on ebay from a seller with a 5 star rating than I would buying another expensive product from Disney. I am very disappointed and feel let down by Disney Corp.

  2. I bought this at Target June 2008 because it was on sale. I thought$147 was a great price. I got it home and it looked like a quality product. I set it up and the picture was great. However, the remote control stopped working the day I bought the system. I took it back to Target, they exchanged it and brought the 2nd one home. The remote worked on this one, however, the 2nd screen jumped evertime the voices spoke and then the first screen stopped after 15 minutes and had strange vertical lines on the screen. I will take this back tomorrow!!! Don't waste your time!!!

  3. I just bought this DVD player at target like an hour ago. I came home and started reading the reviews and i'm going to return it! I bought this DVD player for my two year old boy/girl twins. I am taking them on a four hour airplane trip & thought it would be great for each of them to be able to hold their own screen so there would be no fighting, but....there is no battery pack so it has to be plugged in for it to work! I thought about just keeping it for the car but it sounds like a piece of junk :( I too was not offered the extended warranty.

  4. We purchased this unit at Target last month. Fortunately we tried it out at home before leaving on a long road trip. It worked great... for about 45 seconds! Then the main screen went to static and we smelled a strong electrical smell. We brought it back to Target and received a full refund. We expected that Disney would only put their name on a quality prodoct, but sadly we were wrong!

  5. This unit has been a curse for me for a year now. We bought the first one before an 8 hr trip to a family reunion. It was a last minute purchase & we didn't test it first. BIG MISTAKE. It wouldn't even read the dvd. After the trip we returned it to Target & they exchanged it for a new unit assuming it was a fluke. Well we got about 4 months out of that one. The speaker on one of the headsets started to crackle & eventually quit all together. I contacted the disney folks via the email listed in the instruction booklet & was informed that they would do nothing about it. I was out of my exchange period ( only 3 months ) at Target & the manager at Disney that I spoke to literally just blew me off. After several battles back & forth I finally took it to Target & spoke with a manager who advised that so many of these come back all for the same reasons. She exchanged out the old machine for a new one & unfortunately out of the box there's no sound again. Again I went to the store today & was informed by their electronics person that this is a no name company that makes very poor products. He said he would never be able to exchange it for a machine that would last more than a couple of months. Basically eat the cost & go with another company. Ugh!! Don't waste your money like I did!

  1. I bought this as a replacement for my broken after 6 months Toshiba DVD player. The quality was noticeably worse. The only thing good about it was it can play so many formats. So after about 4 months I bought the Toshiba HD DVD A-3 and it is the best upconverter out of all of them. Shouldn't have wasted my time with the LG.

  1. Got this bad boy for Christmas. (A gift from me to me) I totally love it! This is my first portable DVD player, so I don't have much to compare it to.

Pros: The big screen is great, clear, bright and adjustable. The video input is a great feature. I love the magnetic hold downs and the swivel and lay flat screen! The USB and CARD readers are a nice touch, although not something I will use much. 2-3 hour battery life is great, and since it includes the cigarette lighter plug, you can use it on a plane or car for as long as you like.

Cons: The buttons feel a little cheap and plasticy, and as the disc slows down as the laser reaches the outer parts of the disc (towards the end of the movie), the player emits a high pitch whine that can be annoying. 4.5 hour battery charge time seems really long.

Conclusion: I paid $180 for it, and feel its worth every penny, as I could not find anything else above 7 inches for less than $200. It is a lot of gadget for the money.

  2. Shopped around ALOT before I bought this at Best Buy (179.99) and included a free extra battery with AC charger. This unit has it ALL:
AC charger, DC charger for car lighter outlet, slim remote, BIG screen with swivel, dual headphone jacks, VERY LIGHTWEIGHT(about 2 lbs) compared to many that are 6-7 lbs. Perfect for flying or for those long airport lay-overs. Better performance than I expected for twince the price!

  3. VERY SATISFIED WITH THE CD PLAYER. IT HAS MANY MORE FEATURES THAN I NEED ,HOWEVER IF I DO NEED THEM THEY ARE THERE. SHIPPING WAS AS STATED. NICE TO ORDER SOMETHING AND GET WHAT YOU ORDERED WITHOUT PROBLEMS.
