  1. I really loved this player however it doesnt play while charging, which isnt a great concern since it has a long battery durability, headphones are not included, not a great concern again since it has the jacks and you can purchase that, what bothered me the most is that IT DOESNT HAVE SKIP PROTECTION!!

  2. This is GREAT DivX player. Phillips seem to be the best at this. Yes it is a little noisy at startup but this is because it is reading COMPRESSED files (DivX format and Mpeg4) and is normal and goes away once the movie starts. I get 6 movies (DivX) on a standard DVD so this is why i choose this player. The battery life is AMAZING and the screen is great. The sound also seems fine to me. I wouldnt buy anything different for my DivX movies. It is also easy to unlock to region-free as i watch a lot of UK movies. Another excellent point is that it will play all my music files (mp3) on a DVD. Be careful as most players will not recognise mp3's on a DVD only on CD so check before you buy! I had not realised this before. I now have around 100 of my CD's in mp3 format and record them onto a single DVD so i never have to change the disc on a drive from East coast to West coast!(I work all over USA). I then plug the DVD player into my truck sound system and use the remote to change tracks etc. Great buy!

  3. Item came quickly. Packaged well and has all components. Does have a lot of scratches on the cover but the inside looks great. The picture is great but as other people have reviewed on amazon about this item, it is loud when you turn it on and while the dvd gets ready to play and while it's turning off.

  4. This is my second portable dvd player, my first was an akai 7" which lasted about a year then suddenly stopped working.
This portable dvd player is everything I expected and more. I've had it for at least a year and haven t experienced any major problems yet.
The main feature I was looking for was a multi-regional player which this wasn't but the region-free hack from a previous review fixed that problem and now I can watch all regions of dvd.
It s definitely a great idea to buy a big-brand portable dvd player (eg sony, philips, samsung etc) rather than a random low budget brand - it's worth the cost.

    PROS:
    Beautiful looks.
Decent display, not as great as i had hoped though...
    Long battery life.
Plays many different video and audio files.
    Nice remote, with many features.
The included headphones were surprisingly amazing quality!
    Includes case.
    Worth what you pay.

    CONS:
No fast-forward and rewind buttons on the player, but on the remote.
    Flimsy disk drawer.
Great sound with headphones, below-average sound without.
Fairly scratch-sensitive, unlike some other portable dvd players.
Whirring sound when disk is loading, but stops when it s playing.

It s very tempting to stop the disk before it stops spinning but I suggest you don t, I think it messes up the player...

  5. Great quality, doesn't skip when used in the car. Great resolution, has been a life saver when traveling with the kids. Would recommend it.

  1. Pros: This product has a truly amazing battery life, and excellent built-to-last quality. Screen resolution is nice (screen cover is too glossy which produces glare easily).

Cons: Sound. It's ability to consistently play DVD's.

We bought this at Radio Shack for a long day of plane flight for our 3 year old daughter. We charged it the night before, opened it up and loaded a brand new DVD, pressed play... "Disc Error". I thought "Must just be this DVD", so I tried 4 more DVD's all without any major scratches or smudges (I checked carefully!). Same error each time. Finally (days after the plane trip) I managed to get 2 DVD's to play. I thought "Ok, it's going to work now". Then the next time I tried it, "Disc Error". No rhyme or reason. It's like the player decides for itself when it is ready to play a disc!

I took this back to Radio Shack, exchanged it for another one expecting the first to be a fluke. It wasn't! Same errors and problems.

I was expecting way more out of a Sony since all my other Sony products have been great but this one really didn't hit the mark. In fact it failed miserably. I would have suffered through less battery life, screen glare, or low sound happily. But it's a DVD "PLAYER", meant to "PLAY" DVD's not have them all say "ERROR"! This was very disappointing. Thankfully, I was refunded all of my purchase.

I am not the picky sort of person so what you see here is what you will get if you buy this unit.

    Buyer beware!

  2. We had this product for six weeks now and it works great. We only use it on the road though. The sound is not great, but acceptable. We can hear fine going 70 mph on the interstate. The image is clear also. Others have stated the remote is really big, but it is not. Remote is about the size of an iPhone. Battery is detachable which is neat.
I hooked it up to my stereo system once, but was only able to get sound out of the left speaker. The DVD Player acted as the right speaker.

This product is a good product on the road.

  3. I've only used the DVD player once, on a 3 hours road trip, and it worked nicely. I just hope that it keeps working that way for at least some time, since I felt there were a lot of bad reviews out there for all portable DVDs in general. At least it came fine out of the box ;-).

  4. This piece didnt work in India , tried indian cd's/dvd's(region 5) but of no use. I even tried some of the hacks provided in the net.I am just waiting to upgrade the firmware if possible to make it multi region player.

  5. I bought this for my daughter, and she loves it. She would rather watch DVDs instead of tv now! It has a beautiful picture and clear sound. It's her most favorite birthday present, ever!

  1. This unit is unbelievable value. Extremely easy to set up, and has RCA, S-Video AND Component output. NTSC/PAL compatible, and a 2 second google search shows how to make it multi-region too.

    Great unit, unbelievable price!

  2. great for watching DVDs and playing CDs.

ONLY downfall would be my remote does not work!!

  3. I bought 2 of these DVD players. They were put in one position on top of the TV or on a shelf and never moved. One only worked with the remote from the very beginning. None of the buttons on the device worked. Within 2 weeks the other didn't work at all. Not with the remote, and none of the buttons worked. What a piece of JUNK!!!!

  4. I brought three of these. one hardly worked straight out the box. only one remote doesnt work. two of the three dvd players just stop working. one minute u are watching a dvd and when you take it out to change it the next disc or the same one for that matter comes up "bad disc" i have only had them for about two and a half months. I am so disappointed. so now i will have to buy a new dvd player. It is really sad that they were only made in may of 2007.

  5. Excellent DVD Player for the price -- No Bells or Whistles but easy to set up, simple to operate and plays EVERYTHING -- I have bought 3 of them so far (one for me and 2 for gifts)

  1. The TV was great but you need to use cable and I was putting it in the basement and it was going to be a hassle for the cable company to install a cable in that room. I bought the best antenna but it didn't work. The description should have included that cable was necessary. The remote didn't work either. Amazon was great about taking the return.

  2. I received this product for Christmas and really enjoy using it. I wanted an under cabinet TV for my kitchen but the depth of my cabinets and the under cabinet lighting don't allow for the installation of that type of TV. This is a great alternative. It's small enough to use very little space but large enough for comfortable viewing. The DVD player is easy to access and the sound is quite good. If the sound quality were a bit better I would give it five stars.

  3. I was looking for a small TV that had a cable tuner that I could fit in my roll-top desk. This one was the only small TV I could find with a cable tuner. The screen quality is not the greatest, but for the price "who cares". I have not tried the DVD player, which I understand from other reviews is problematic. I've only used it for a couple of weeks, but so far I'm ecstatic.

  4. This is a great little kitchen TV at the right price. Powered right up and took off....great picture...ok audio...works for me. It arrived in three days.

  5. I wanted a small TV for my 'yoga' room to watch yoga DVDs. I also wanted it to be able to connect to cable TV so if I wanted to someday move it to a bathroom or the kitchen I could. It comes with a nice cable adapter. The DVD player works great along with the remote control. It's very light weight. I also like that it has a clear glass cover over the LCD screen. So far I have no complaints.

  1. This player didn't even make it a year before breaking down. Bought it in April & it no longer displays a picture & it's only November. The player was handled with care & no abuse. Bought other cheaper models that at least lasted a full year before problems began. Don't waste your money on this piece of .........

  2. This is a great DVD player with excellent image quality, great battery life, an adapter for the video, remote, and an AC adapter that works in both 110V and 220V. The only drawbacks to this great "portable" DVD Player is that due to the screen size, which is a large part of the higher quality of the image and overall DVD experience, that it is not as portable as other model and that it tends to run a little hotter than other models. Think of it as almost a mini-laptop. However, if you are purchasing this model, you know the dimensions and have foregone the portability for the superior image size and clarity and the long battery life. It also has a carrying case and an means to hang in your car along with a cigarette lighter adapter for convenient in vehicle viewing at a fraction of the cost to install one. Overall, this is a fantastic portable DVD player and must buy for the media aficionados of the world. The image and sound quality are one of the best in the market.

  3. I received this item as a gift. I consider myself fortunate to have been given such an outstanding portable DVD player. The picture quality is supreme and easily matches my 21" LG Flatron Wide Screen for clarity and performance. The manufacture states that one may get up to 4 hours of playtime on the attached lithium battery when fully charged. I've read some reviews that claim 4 hours is the norm; I've gotten 4.75 hours which is fantastic.

Sound quality from the internal speakers is marginal as one would expect. I hooked-up a pair of Logitech R-10 speakers into the headphone plug-in and with the Virtual Surround Sound option selected the overall sound quality is excellent.

Again with other reviews, a negative point is the mechanical noise that can be heard when the unit is starting up or searching the DVD. I've used this portable DVD player and I must say that this is nit-picking. Although you can hear a "clicking" sound during start-up and search, it doesn't happen when the actual DVD is playing a movie and that's what counts. Some claim that the unit is "hefty" in weight. Again I don't give credence to such claims. This is a larger than average portable DVD player with it's 10.5" screen. I would expect it to weigh a bit more than an 8" or even teenier unit. The soft carrying case makes the whole unit easy to take anywhere. A cradle is supplied so that the DVD player can be hung off of the back of a head rest so people in the backseats of the car can watch movies. There are also 2 headphone jacks, but headphones must be purchased separately. I should mention though that sound quality through a decent set of headphones is awesome.

  4. As I travel for business, I needed a small, light DVD player without too many bells and whistles. This is definitely it. As previous reviews stated, the battery lasts long enough for at least one full lenghth movie and the buttons are easy to use. Also, as previously stated, the volume is a bit weak when used without headphones. But with headphones, it's GREAT.
Perfect weight and size for airplane use, as well. I would definitely recommend this model.

  5. I originally got this for my wife. She and I have both used it and really enjoy it. The picture quality is great. The sound quality is so-so, but acceptable. I've used it outside with Tai Chi DVDs to learn new forms and refresh my memory on old ones. I haven't used it with the battery much, so I can't speak for the battery life. We usually hook it up with the A/C adaptor.

  1. UNIT WAS OK WHEN IT WORKED --ABOUT TWO MONTHS. RETURNED UNDER WARRANTY. I PAID TO SEND IT TO COBY AND THEY CHARGE $18 FOR RETURN POSTAGE. NO PROBLEM UNTIL..... THEY SENT A LESSER MODEL 7050 - WOULD NOT SEND EQUAL MODEL UNLESS I PAID TO RETURN IT. I MENTIONED THAT WARRANTY REPLACEMENT SHOULD EQUAL OR GREATER VALUE (WOULD YOU WANT A 25" TV IF YOUR 46' WAS SENT IN FOR REPAIR) THEY STATED THAT THIS IS THIER POLICY. COBY PRODUCTS ARE CHEAP YES. THEY ARE ALSO JUNK AND THE COMPANY SUCKS .. SONY IS SOOOOOO MUCH BETTER IN TERMS OF QUALITY AND SERVICE

  2. My purposes for the 7060 is to play MP3 CD music via my FM radio in my 2002 SUV. I want to play my home made CD's that give me +10hrs of my music. I ordered it taking a risk making the assumption that Coby 7060 would have common-sense controls. I now know why Colby never respond to my web site queries and why they do not have the 7060 listed on their web site. Answers to my questions have now been discovered:

FM TX only has four preset frequencies 88.1, 88.3, 88.5, 88.7; if you have a near strong station you will get interference. They should have added four 107 MHz frequencies if they insisted on presets. Plus the head phones run off the same FM TX (not IR as implied) so you get loud ear pops with near strong station interference.

Confirmed - FM TX has barely 6'distance; the audio has raspy highs.

Still unknown what the battery is; Lithium or NiCad. What is alarming is only 300 recharges before degradation can be expected. No MSDS label on the battery for proper disposal.

There are NO controls for R/L audio balance or bass/treble! No super bass or enhanced audio modes. The controls are NOT back-lite for night vehicle or in-the-dark use.

The BIG BLUNDER of the 7060 as a CD/MP3 music player is there are >>>NO<<< "random" or "shuffle" modes - this really sucks making it nearly worthless as a music player!!!

Needless to say I'm disappointed in the 7060 but I'm more disappointed in Coby for the lack of sales information baiting us into purchasing a substandard device that doesn't meet the established bare-minimum common-sense industry standards.

  3. So far we love the DVD player it works great. It plays movies well and the screen looks great. I was a little disappointment when I found out that the DVD dosen't slide in, you have to take the player out of its case to change movies. I was under the impression that it loaded from the side. Also the headphones work well where I live, but if you are in a larger city they can be overpowered by other radio stations. I just returned from DC/NYC and the headphones did not work at all there. They just picked up outside radio stations. Over all, great DVD player for the money.

  4. Product arrived quickly and in good condition. The mounting bag was great and I really like the appearance of the whole thing. The problems was with the DVD player. It was so loud when playing a disc, you could hear it making a loud buzzing sound while the disc was spinning. The headphones also had terrible interference and we couldn't use them in the car using the FM tuner which was why I purchased this item. I sent it back right away and Amazon quickly refunded my money.

  5. I recently received my Coby player and found some things that were not very well thought out in the overall design. Here are the Pro's and cons that I found.
    Cons:
    1. DVD load mechanism. This is a significant flaw as it does not allow you to easily load a DVD when vehicle mounted. The mechanism requires that you remove it from the holder, open it up, put in the DVD, close it then re-insert it into the holder. Very poor design that is a royal pain to change DVDs if the car is moving.
    2. Manual AV/DVD switch. On the left side of the unit is the sliding switch which turns on the player to one of two modes, DVD or AV. The manufacturer should have gone with an electronic switch vice a manual switch as it is not easy to ensure you have the DVD mode since it is in the center of the selection slide and there is no audible or 'feelable' indication that you have it in the correct position. This becomes more inconvenient when you are sliding the player in or out of the holder.

    Pros.
    1. Good picture quality. The picture is clear and easy to see.
    2. Sound control easy to use. Spinning wheel sound control is easy to adjust.
    3. Compact slim design. Overall design is especially well suited for vehicle mounting and allows the player to sit flat against the back of the headrest. This keeps it from being kicked or jostled if you have a toddler in a car seat. The fold out one I had was prone to being kicked by my 3 year old.

Overall the player is a good buy for the money but I couldn't rate it higher as the two design flaws are significant in detracting from its ease of use.
