5 comments about Sony MDR-EX90LP Stereo Earphones.
  1. The Sony MDR-EX90LPs are different from all other earphones out there - they don't isolate you from outside noise. For many people, this is a deal-breaker. But, if you want some ability to hear what is going on around you, the Sony MDR-EX90LPs are great. In addition, because there is little isolation, there is almost no "microphonic effect" (noise from the cord moving).

A more minor difference from other earphones is the fit. The Sony MDR-EX90LPs come with the same comfortable silicone tips that many other earphones use. This alone is usually enough to keep earphones from falling out. But, in this case, the large driver also sits in your outer ear much like a pair of earbud headphones. This makes them fit more securely than other silicone tip earphones, without sacrificing comfort.

Overall, the Sony MDR-EX90LPs are excellent earphones. Both the sound and build quality seem excellent; they are definitely worth the price. They are very efficient in terms of volume produced and have plenty of bass. If you need more bass, make use of their efficiency by EQing the mid and treble down and turning up the volume. (EQing up on mp3 players usually causes distortion.) Also, keep in mind that the cord is designed to run behind your neck; some people prefer a more standard "Y-shaped" cord.

Basically, if you aren't too concerned with isolation, the Sony MDR-EX90LPs are worthy of consideration due to their quality, secure fit, and lack of "microphonic effect". For activities where being conscious of your surroundings is important (e.g. running outdoors or working in an office), they are more than worthy - they should be your first choice among earphones.

  2. I my opinion, Sony is the best headphone manufacture because all their products produce accurate and mellow sounds. This EX90LP are the best earbuds I've owned so far, only inferior in volume compared to those huge overhead headphones. I switched from Microsoft Zune 80 Premium earbuds to Sony EX90LP ,it takes a about a week for me to feel comfortable with them. The thing that is little bit anoying is if you don't find the perfect size for you, it won't seal your ears perfectly. Overall, these are the best earphones you can get for casual listening!

  3. I purchased the Sony MDR-EX90LP Stereo Earphones a month ago and must say that I am totally satisfied with their performance. I use these with an Ipod Nano (2G). They produce crisp, clean highs and and powerful bass. They are also comfortable and stylish to wear. Try to avoid fake earphones from China that are sold at other sites for around $35. Amazon sells the real Sony product.

  4. I received today these Sony MDR-EX90LP Stereo Earphones and I'm totally satisfied. At first listen I felt that I'm missing some bass but then I changed medium earbuds to small and they fitted perfectly to my ear canals and sound and isolation improved a lot. I think that the outside noises are blocked out enough - you don't have to compete with traffic or people talking next to you. Bass is deep and high-end is clear - overall I think that you really don't need better earphones to listen to mp3's. Now I just think that why on earth I listened to my ipod for two years with ipod's standard earphones which are crap. [...]$ is bargain for these earphones!

note: I've played drums over 15 years so my hearing may have damaged a bit so... don't count on my review too much.

  5. I have owned these EX90LPs for about 18 months now. They were purchased to replace my perpetually dying collection of lower-end Sony earphones (EX70LP/51LP/81LP).

    The Good:

    * Build quality. I am happy to report that these are of significantly better build material. Specifically, they haven't broke yet and the wire doesn't feel like it's about to fall apart like my other Sony earphones do.
    * Sound quality. Like others have reported, they sound great, significantly better than all of my previous Sonys. Good bass with those large drivers that surprisingly don't funnily stick out of your ear. Clear treble.
    * Look. They also look quite nice with a clean polished metal look.
    * Cord length. Good 4 feet, unlike the super short EX71SL (without extension).
    * Case. The earphones wrap up in a plastic holder that fits inside a nice (real?) leather case that has a button for a secure close.

Unfortunately these earphones have hardly seen the light of day in the past year because of a few key reasons. Good thing I had that case!

    The Bad:

    * No sound isolation. I guess it's true that you don't miss things until they are gone. The bus got a whole lot louder after "upgrading" to these.
    * Less comfortable than my old Sonys. That large driver is not padded at all. After an hour or so my ears get sore. Maybe it's the weird angle of the ear bud. Maybe it's just my ears.
    * Price. Much better earphones can be bought at a price not much higher. I ended up getting the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro Earphones (White) for $150 when I had to spend some time working in a data center. I'm much happier with those as they are more comfortable, sound better, and block out the noise of industrial air conditioners and dozens of racks of equipment. I'm sure that there are other earphones in the same price range (or even cheaper) that are better products but I don't personally own any so I won't comment.

    Bottom line:

These are the highest quality Sony earphones I have owned. But they are also the most expensive Sonys I bought. They suffer from flaws that make purchasing them a bad value. Sony's noise isolating earphones have made me a loyal Sony customer for the past 10 years but it's time to move on to better things.

5 comments about Kensington Universal FM Transmitter for MP3 Players (Black).
  1. I recieved this product.. It worked for about 5 days.. Then, when i turn it on.. it works for about 10 seconds then goes out..

I then was issued a replacement... then, the same problem happened to this one within 2 days...

And now amazon will not give me a refund, even after i sent it in to them.. so i'm left empty handed and nothing to show for it...

    Do not buy...

  2. Did not work at all. I returned the same day I received it. I followed the instructions for use exactly and when I got it all set up, the radio static and interference is all I could here...I tried numerous stations.
It is a crappy and cheap piece of equipment. Don't bother. If you want good sound, spend the money on a nice unit.

  3. Okay, so I'm not sure how much I can really add to what's already been said about this product.

The first thing I would say is to not judge your purchase of this product based on the reviews. (Kind of ironic since I'm writing a review of it! LOL)
The saying "Your Mileage May Vary" would totally apply here. I'm quite sure that as many different models of cars, factory stereo systems and aftermarket stereos that are out there, that's how many different opinions you are going to get on FM transmitters in general... and this one is no different.

I purchased this unit, simply because my particular model of vehicle would require a high cost to install an aftermarket stereo system with an MP3 player hookup (line-in), so I decided to go the cheaper route with this. You can't beat ~$40 to connect any kind of audio device to your stereo!
I'll also say that I own a Zune, so the iPod connections out there won't work with my particular model of MP3 player.

The first thing I did was remove my external antenna from my vehicle, as it's very easy to do on mine. It's simply unscrews from the connection to the car. Your car might not be as easy to remove its antenna, so keep that in mind.

I'm pleased with the unit for what it does: let's me play my music collection through my car stereo. That benefit far outweighs any of the negatives that I have with this unit. Without it, I would have to listen to the radio, or constantly burn CDs whenever I get in the mood for something that I haven't burned yet. Which is all the time!

Now I will go ahead and address the cons to this unit, but these cons would go for ANY FM transmitter, not just this one.
First, it's an FM transmitter, so I'm only getting FM quality sound. It's not CD quality by any means, so that is definitely a negative for an audiophile like me. I love my music, and I love it as best quality as I can get, so I don't particularly love the sound quality of the unit.
It also takes up my cigarette lighter connection, so if I want to use it to charge my Zune (or any other device, i.e. cell phone), I wouldn't be able to use it. I suppose they make cigarette lighter adapters that let you connect two devices at once, so I may look into that if I feel like I have to have it.

So those are my only complaints with the device. If you can get past those, then this is a great unit for you. Hope this helps!

  4. I live in the country, drive most days to one of several towns 30-70 miles away, including one large city. I listen to audiobooks downloaded to my MP3 player. After considering a manufacturer based upgrade to my car stereo (very expensive) or a local shop's own upgrade (still 250) I found this solution and it works very well for me. Its true that the channel I tuned is only empty at my home --therefore if the reading of the book finishes while I am driving audible interference can be annoying for a moment. I simply mute the volume until I have a chance to start a new book or newspaper reading. As these usually last 1-8 hours, this isnt much of a limitation. So I find the device absolutely wonderful. It also plays just fine in mountain passes where no FM reception is available. Reception is as clear as a CD. Ive never seen fit to tune another band on
either of the unused alternative frequencies. I found getting started very simple and was up and running within 5 minutes of receiving the Kensington transmitter. My only warning to potential users is that if you have unrecorded blank space between songs you may really have to find an empty spot on the FM band at each location you visit frequently. If this is your pattern, see if you can do this with your radio before you buy it.

  5. This transmitter is the first one I have ever bought. I chose this one because of all of the high ratings it has gotten. I'm not disappointed in it. I bought it to play books on tape when travelling. I only have a cd player in my car (05 Civic), so I needed this to use my tape and mp3 player. It works well with the mp3 player. Took it on my trip from Denver to Albuquerque. Only had to search for an unused channel twice; Sante Fe, then Albuquerque. This isn't hard to do, so it wasn't a hassle. The tape players that I have are a different story. My Sony walkman worked with it until the player broke. The Tozaj(sp?) worked until it broke. The Durabrand one I have that still works won't output into it for some reason. I've also discovered that the tape player doesn't work with noise-cancelling headphones. That makes me think it's the tape player and not the transmitter.

The only problem I've had with the transmitter is not being able to see the station that it's outputting to after it gets hot. All I can see is 188.8. A little frustrating when I first turn it on, but not a big deal after I'm tuned in. 4 out of 5 stars.

5 comments about 6FT Shielded External Esata Cable M/m.
  1. If you need eSATA cable then do get this one as it is a higher quility than those that come with some enclosures or devices. Other than that, nothing special

  2. Great job guys!

A new Seagate 320GB external drive was born!

Awesome. Buy from these guys, you will NOT regret it.

  3. This cable is very easy to conect, brings inmediate speed boost vs standard SATA1 cables or USB - Firewire interfaces. In one word: FAST!!!

    Some facts:
If you have an IDE or SATA1 Hard Drive you will not notice the advantages of the speeds reachable with this cable.
To fully appretiate the true potential of a SATA2 or eSATA2 cable you MUST have at least two SATA2 hard drives that run at 3.0Gb/s both.

So if your external drive is SATA2 and your internal drives are SATA1 or IDE you will notice no difference in time transfers as you should with 2 SATA 2 drives.

From my HDD (Seagate SATA1) to a external SATA2 Drive a 4.88GB File was transfered through this eSATA cable in 6 minutes, 42 secs.
Same file through USB 2.0 cable was transferred in 5 minutes, 48 secs.

In other computer same file through 2 SATA2 Hard drives, one internal and one external using this cable, was transferred in 3 minutes, 19 secs.

So, change to SATA2 and wellcome to the almost SCSI speeds world!!

  4. So far so good. Have connected two external eSATA drives side-by-side using 6 ft. external shielded eSATA cables and they're working great. I use them for DV standard video capture and editing and have had no problems with data throughput.

  5. Good cable. Works great. I used it to connect a Western Digital HD to a DirecTV PVR.

5 comments about Case Logic CDW128 Nylon 128-Disc CD/DVD Wallet.
  1. This Cd wallet is well made and sturdy as well, however, the pages cannot be removed if damaged, to add new ones.

  2. It's A CD case. What more can I say? What more is the sleeves are filmzy (as in too thin) and easy too rip. The original reason in purchasing it was to carry my CD's around, but that can not be as it has no handle. Try another brand and make sure it has a handle!

  3. I picked this piece not for our music CDs or our movie DVDs, but for all the operating manuals and CDs that our house and office have gotten overloaded with.

It has been the greatest organizing I've done in a long while. All the CDs and operating manuals are now zipped into one place. Need to re-load a program? I can find the CD, the code, and the booklet in a snap.

No more pawing through desk drawers, thinking, "It's in here somewhere."

  4. Case Logic has a well-deserved reputation for quality construction and good design. This product almost lives up to that reputation. When filled, the wallet is strong enough to hold up to the weight of the contents. The cds fit securely in the pockets and are easy to put in and remove. Because of the two ring system, the pages are easy to turn and lie flat, allowing easy examination of the cds. Also, when the wallet is closed, there is no concern over the inner cds on each page being crushed together, The only design flaw, and for me was a major one, is that there is no handle. A full wallet is fairly heavy. At the very least, it is ackward to carry without a handle. And for $25.00, one should be provided with a king's carriage to transport the cds. The absence of a handle was enough to drop my rating down a star or two. (BE CAREFUL! THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION, AS NOTED BY AN EARLIER REVIEWER, STATES THAT A HANSLE IS PROVIDED.)

  5. This CD/DVD holder is great. It can hold 128 cds and they are all in one place.

  1. good looking little piece of equipment. sleek design. has more bass than other models in its price range. would recommend it.

  2. I purchased this item for the purpose of being able to listen to Ipod with battery power. This unit is compact, easy to carry and store, lightweight and has great sound, especially for the price. I won't compare the sound to Bose (it is not at that level) but it very, very good. I recommend this product to anyone wanting good sound at a good price that is easily portable.

  3. This compact, easy to set up, portable, one-piece unit delivers incredibly good sound. Our 10 year old granddaughter was thrilled. Not the latest model, but the price was fantastic as a result and who cares about the model number anyway!

  4. This is a relatively cheap speaker with good sound quality - perfect for a small room or to bring to trips - particularly hotel rooms and cruises. The AC adaptor comes in different plug options. Included bag for the speaker is also nice. The only downside: volume is pre-set to a certain volume every time u turn it on - and it's way too loud.

  5. The sound is of good quality for compact easy to pack speakers. Nice tone and range. Sufficient volume for an average sized room. Perfect for a hotel, cruise ship cabin or college dorm. I have always liked Altec Lansing speakers and this is no exception. Comes with an excellent well padded travel case. I have owned and used it for almost a year and have no reliability issues.

5 comments about Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3 Studio Earphones (White).
  1. I got this product after reading numerous reviews about the Shure and Etymonics earbuds that have similar reputations, and decided that these had better reviews overall. I originally got them for a trip, because I needed some good earbuds for an 18 hour plane ride. I have found that, if you take the time to figure out which size earcup works for you, they A) sound fantastic, and B) act like earplugs. I have worn them mowing the grass, and I can have the music volume extremely low, and can still barely hear the motor. People that have complained about these not having good bass response did not take the time to figure out which cup works best for their ear and are not inserting them properly. They really do have fantastic sound. I recommend reading the included instructions about how to put them in. It seems simple enough, but I thought it helped. One more thing, the reusable cups are great for normal use, but if you really want comfort, give the foam plugs a try. They're not as multi-use, but they really do sound great. Also, the cord is a little short, but you can get a replacement cord that plugs into the earbuds themselves from their website for about $20. The cord is also not the thin cheap stuff on a lot of other cords, this stuff is thick and durable. So then,
    Positives:
    - Noise Canceling
    - Great sound
    - Comfortable (I've worn them for hours at a time with no discomfort)
    - Really well made
    Negatives
    - Takes time to get fitted properly
    - Take more time that normal earbuds to put in
    - Needs periodic earwax cleaning

I hope this helps, I think that these are the best buds you can get for the money.

  2. I had high hopes for this product, because a product specialist had bought them and loved them. Unfortunately I did not have the same experience. It was nearly impossible to try the different sizes of the rubber tips- they simply did not fit on the main body of the earphone. I even had my brother try to get them on and he couldn't either. It also did not seem as if any tips fit my ears, though it was hard to tell because I couldn't get them all the way on.

  3. Several months ago, I made the decision to buy a pair of high-quality headphones. After doing some research, I found that the UE Super.fi 3 Studio Earphones were not only considered top-tier headphones but were also reasonably priced in the $70 dollar range.

One of the first things that has to be said is that the design of the earphones is unique. It does take some time to become accustomed to the way that they feel/fit in one's ears. Once you've figured out how you like to wear them, the sound quality is excellent.

A common complaint about these is that they lack a large depth of bass. These are not a pair of headphones you want if you are a bass-junkie; rather, they are suited for very balanced sound across the spectrum.

Overall, it is easy to see how some people may not like these earphones; but with a little bit of getting used to, they are the best pair of earphones that I have ever owned. I would highly recommend these earphones to any audiophile looking for the best way possible to listen to their music.

  4. Highly recommended. After using the UE super.fi 3 for about 3 weeks, I can say that they are a very good value and an excellent product. Using the silicone cushions, I was able to achieve the "seal" almost immediately by following the enclosed directions. Listening to mostly jazz, there's no complaint about the sound. There's ample bass without being "boomy" and clean highs. As reported by others, I am hearing things in the music that I never noticed before. If you like to walk around, these phones may not be the best for you. They provide excellent noise isolation (like you forget you're on the train), but when moving around, there are normally unnoticed "friction" sounds (from the earphones contacting the ear canal and the cord rubbing against clothing) that some may find a bit annoying. If you crank the volume, you might not notice those sounds, but then you won't hear the truck that's about to flatten your carcass either.

  5. After reading reviews for lots of earbuds by both professionals and users, I chose the UE Super.fi 3s. Maybe the quality has declined since they are being made in China (or maybe they were always made there), but these puppies sound tinny, with little bass response. Singing voices sound clear and precise, but I have to turn the volume up to even hear the lower frequency instrumentation. It is no wonder that the manufacturer recommends listening with these for no more than an hour a day(!); my ears ring when I take them out. Songs that give me goosebumps on regular buds sound flat and boring on these. Big disappointment. I'm going to return them and keep shopping for something better.

5 comments about Griffin SmartShare with Headphone Adapter for iPhone 1G (Black).
  1. The Griffin SmartShare + Adapter package is labeled as the "must-have connections for your iPhone," though I think the more accurate description would be the "nice to have connections for your iPhone in two or three specific situations." The package contains two separate devices: first is the Headphone Adapter that lets you use any 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo-mini plug headphones with your iPhone. Though Griffin says "without our Adapter, most available headphones won't fit," that simply is not the case. All of the headphones I own except for one pair fit into the iPhone headphone jack, and the one pair that didn't fit was my studio reference Sony MDR-V900s. Those cans are way too large to lug around with me all the time anyway, not to mention way to overpowered for the less than high-fidelity sound quality of the iPhone/iPod. But more importantly, if you really want to upgrade your headphones for the iPhone, why not just buy a pair that have the microphone already built-in? I love my V-Moda earbuds and bet that the V-Moda Vibe Duo iPhone-compatible headphones/headset are a much smarter investment.

The second item in the package is the SmartShare adapter that lets you plug two sets of headphones into one headphone jack, so each listener can each set their own volume level. Of the two items in the package, this is the more useful Ð though in very specific situations. If you and your partner want to take one iPod on a long plane flight, for example, this is the perfect device for giving each person a piece of the action while allowing he or she to control their volume independently. The sound quality on these is near-perfect and I could only detect the faintest alteration of the signal when compared to listening to the iPhone without the SmartShare. While it doesn't solve the dilemma of Slayer or Sade, the SmartShare adapter does give the two of you a way to listen on the music once you've settled on the playlist.

At $14.99, the Griffin SmartShare + Adapter is certainly affordable. And while this low price plus the quality for which Griffin has come to be known makes this a good purchase, I think the first question you need to ask is will I ever need to use these things? If you have a favorite pair of headphones that do not fit the small headphone jack on the iPhone or if you ever think you'll need a stereo headphone splitter to share tunes with someone else, then you can't go wrong with this product.

(Zach Zaletel, an Alaska Apple User's Group Member, with much input from Chris Schutte, iphone owning friend.)

  2. Best Quality and design of the adaptor of iPhone,
and with the Smartshare, I can listen the music with my GF,
    recommanded~~

  3. This is exactly what I was looking for. It's compact, works great, and the adapter fits without removing my iPod video case.

  4. it's Excellent, now me and my fiance can watch movies on the iPhone with the help of the splitter the quality is very good and the seperate volume control is perfect.

  5. If you have a generation 1 iPhone and need to split it or connect it to old headphones, this bad boy is for you.

5 comments about Xlii 90 High Bias Audio Cassette Tape (5-Pack).
  1. Now I'm noticing in the day & age of cd formats & mp3 downloading that finding good cassettes in just your average store here in michigan is hard to find now, so i was glad to be able to go through amazon to get what i needed,& me being into the quality of the maxell cassettes since the mid 80's i just can't use any other tape, mainly due to me still working pretty regular with a four track recorder which requries a high bias tape for the best sound, so even though some may feel like i'm in the stone age for still using cassettes but what i'm able achieve sound wise through equalizers & the four track is still cutting edge thanks to good tapes that can handle the pressure.

  2. Maxell manufactures excellent "Xlii high bias" 90 minute cassette tapes for all purpose general recording. As long as you have the right kind of equipment, these tapes record the sounds of record albums, radio shows, CD-Rs, people talking and more. These tapes have 90 minutes worth of blank recording tapes on them so there are 45 blank minutes for recording on each side. Record lectures, music, conversations, piano playing and more--whatever you want! The tape playback will work well in any basic tape deck including the one in your car.

The tapes are extremely well made in that they DO allow you hours upon hours of listening enjoyment because you can record over them many times; and they take up very little room so they're easy to carry around with you.

If you pay the current Amazon price of $13.77 for the five-pack you spend roughly $2.75 per tape. Some people will find that to be too expensive while others will want these blank cassette tapes anyway, not minding having to pay the price.

Unfortunately, these tapes still cannot produce 100% the same quality recording reproduction as a digitalized copy would give you. This means that if, hypothetically, you were to copy a CD-R onto another CD-R instead of a Maxell cassette tape, the quality of the sound on the CD-R copy would be at least somewhat sharper and clearer with less background noise than these Maxell cassette tapes will give you. Moreover, cassette tapes can break if not handled with care. They can also break if used a few too many times, too. Therefore, I recommend that any important recorded material should be copied onto another blank tape and then keep that second tape in a safe place to use as a backup. These shortcomings frustrate me and therefore I will have to take off one star to make this a four star review.

The tapes have small pieces of plastic on the narrow top of each cassette which you can punch out easily so that accidental recording over an existing recording is impossible. If you do wish to record over an original recording then you can merely place a small amount of regular tape over the hole. The cassette tape is now ready to record a fresh recording. I also agree with the gentleman who suggests that you clean the heads of the tape deck before using these cassette tapes to maximize the quality of the recording.

Overall, Maxell Xlii high bias cassette tapes makes a great choice when you want reliable cassette tapes to record music, the radio, people talking or anything you wish to record. I have used this brand for decades and I cannot think of any major complaints. I highly recommend Maxell normal bias 90 minute cassette tapes for you to use when you need to record something onto a tape.

  3. A GIFT THAT WAS REQUESTED BY MY BROTHER..SAID THESE ARE GETTING HARDER AND HARDER TO FIND...SO IF U ARE IN NEED HERE IS THE PLACE TO BUY THEM..GREAT PRODUCT.

  4. For about $3 per tape (including shipping charge), this 5-pack is perfect for the audiophile looking for near CD quality sound. I use a Sherwood cassette recorder with Dolby S and automatic detection of the High Bias type tape. Recording a local FM radio station rock music at the proper level gives exact reproduction of sound. I tested it after using Maxell UD and the difference is dramatic! The XLII is so clear and the casssette shell and tape are very sturdy. You should record at a level that shows into the red all the time, not just at the loudest parts. This allows the High Bias tape to absorb any slight distortion and the Dolby lets you record at the higher level. Any slight background tape hiss is eliminated.

  5. I have had consistently poor experience with Maxell XLii 90 High Bias audio tape. I have two high-end cassette recorders. The mechanisms in these tapes are problems in both recorders. They do not roll as freely as they should and put so much drag on the tape recorder mechanism that the tape recorder stops. On some of the cassettes, I can hear the reels rubbing against the sides of the cassette shell. This has happened on three different 5-packs, purchased at two different stores. Perhaps these cassettes work better on lower-end equipment. I have absolutely no problems using TDK SA90 cassettes on either of these cassette decks. The portion of the tape that does get recorded sounds great.

  1. I really enjoyed this case, good functionality, and I like that it is easy to get to the touchscreen. I loved this website too.

  2. I just purchased this case and am extremely impressed by the detail that went into the design of this case. In addition to the aesthetics, the functionality of the design is spot on in every respect. Everything is easily accessible while the iPhone is in the case, but you can also conveniently slide it out. I'm also amazed by the price. $25 would be a great bargain for the case alone, but it also comes with a microfiber cloth and crystal film screen protector. The latter cost me $15 for 2 of these on Apple's site. All in all, I couldn't be happier with this purchase and would be very surprised to find a better case anywhere on the market. And, no, I don't work for Marware :) In fact, I had never heard of them before this purchase (and have never before reviewed a product).

  3. I was very impressed with this product, it fits my iphone nicely so I can carry it, and still be able to view the phone as needed without having to pull the phone out of the case. I purchased a basic iphone case at the AT&T store, and it was too snug that it made it hard to get the phone in and out. This one is much better.
Also, very pleased that I received it so quickly. :)

  1. Have had this black case for about 2 months of continuous use. Fit, finish and durability are simply excellent. My only REAL gripe is it's tough to get to the ring silencer switch on the iPhone. And I tossed the accessories (plastic shield, rubber plug insert, etc.) into a drawer as they're kind of overkill. If I were in an environment like a beach or rock quarry with a lot of fine dust, I'd probably give them some credence. But reviewers on ars technica have tested this phone and found it near impossible to scratch the screen even when TRYING to do so.

The black case does tend to show pocket lint, but it's no biggie, just rub it off with your fingers. (Or keep your pockets clean, ha.) In short:

    - Phone still fits into my jeans pocket with the case, nice
    - Non-slip factor is great as I can put the phone on my dash and it'll stay put
    - I also keep a few biz cards in the back of the case between the phone and the case itself; handy little space there
    - Grips on side of case are appreciated; I haven't dropped my phone since I've had this case -- and with the thickness of the Revo, I wouldn't be worried if I did

A solid product at an okay price. Guess you get what you pay for in this case.

  2. Unlike many other covers I owned for numerous hand held devices, this doesn't only fit nicely on your iPhone but also seems to protect it from nasty falls (and yes if you use your phone often, it will happen regardless how careful you are).

I also would recommend you to get the Power Support Crystal Film Set for iPhone as it covers the entire front of the iPhone in addition to the privacy screen included with the iSkin revo (this only covers the screen). The Film Set, if applied correctly, is not distinguishable from the iPhone and does not decrease the screen quality.

Be aware that in the packaging is also a small plastic lens cover for the in-built camera (can easily be lost), the privacy screen (to protect your screen) that comes in addition to the plastic cover and a small rubber cover for the port at the bottom of the iPhone. Make sure all this is included.

Now, obviously this is not what the designers had in mind when they came up with the iPhone and any cover for the iPhone will decrease its appearance (its a rubber coat after all) and makes it look like a field laptop (the sturdy type used outdoors with rubber casings to prevent it from getting wet and being dropped). However, the iSkin revo may be better looking than most available covers.

Also, some reviewers commented on the plastic cover not fitting on correctly. I cannot confirm this, maybe a defective cover? Also, if you are careful you will avoid any air bubbles. This said, even if you do have some, these usually disappear with time (as you keep hammering your fingers on the screen).

Be also aware that although it isn't difficult to take the iPhone out of the cover, you want to avoid doing this too often as you will start cracking the rubber material if you are not careful. That said, it is not intended to be changed frequently.

One important fact not mentioned in most of the other reviews I saw is that you will no longer be able to use the docking station that is shipped with the iPhone if you use the iSkin. I had to revert back to using the cable, as taking of the cover is difficult (see previous paragraph).

  3. The case itself is great - It's rugged and gives you more protection on the corners (the more vulnerable points of the phone if you drop it). It comes with a hard plastic screen shield and some small soft plastic film (to stick on your iPhone screen). I just threw those away and used a non-glare LCD screen protector (search for "iPhone LCD screen protector" here) film for the screen instead. The case does seem to attract lint when you put it in your pocket (a side effect of the non-slip property of the rubber used). Most of the lint comes off by itself when you handle the phone and it makes it look even more rugged when on. But if you are more on the neat-freak side, you might want to consider one the hard plastic case types instead.

  4. I purchased this case two months ago and can say that I am very satisfied with it. It was not that hard to put it on. The privacy screen is very good. In addition to the privacy screen you have the protective screen. Even better. No chance of the phone screen being scratched. Very nice plus is that when you need to take off the protective screen you just put it in the back of the phone (has special grooves for it) and you do not have to worry about loosing it. I have already dropped the phone a few times and the phone was not scratched or anything. Do not have problems with the speakers, as I read someone else mentioned in their review. Can totally say that I am a very satisfied customer and am extremely happy that I purchased this case for my very overpriced phone.

  5. I was pleased with this iPhone cover - when I first purchased my phone I dropped it multiple times and was very upset with how many dings I'd accumulated. This case has been wonderful!!! I have dropped it many more times since and still no issues. It protects my phone well. It also prevents it from sliding out of my scrub top pockets and fits nicely in my jeans pockets. the grip also prevents it from sliding off of my console while driving.

I love that it comes with a screen protector as well - as another review pointed out - be sure to put it on smoothly and slowly so that you avoid excess bubbles. I was very careful but still had a some bubbles present and after 3 months of use they are all gone.

I would definitely recommend this case to others.
