5 comments about Tripp Lite P516-001 VGA/XVGA Monitor Y Splitter HD15M/2XF.
  1. I bought this for my laptop so I can hook up two external LCD monitors (using one as the primary and the other as an extension). Well it did not work. The image on both were the same. Why would I want to hook up two external monitors for a short-distance that display the same image? What makes things worse is that the brightness on each monitor is diminished by about half which make it hard to see clearly. I hope Amazon will clarify or change the description of this product and allow me to return it.

  2. I was trying to split my vga output to a monitor and a projector (via a 50 ft cable). I had the same experience with ghost images on my monitor as one of the previous reviewers. I'm guessing this splitter isn't designed to work with long cables. I ordered a 2-Port UXGA Video Splitter Extender (Cables To Go - 29550) which works much better, although it was somewhat more expensive.

  3. I bought this product to split my desktop computer to my main monitor and to my HDTV in the other room. As others has said it does diminish the brightness on the monitor, but it hasn't done so on my HDTV. As I mainly use my computer on my HDTV these day I haven't had a problem with the lose of some brightness on my monitor at my computer desk. Besides for that little lost it works great as it was indented for.

  4. The splitter works fine, but was really unusable for me because it reduced the brightness on the monitors to a level that really made it hard to see. It's not a problem with the product itself, though -- just a side effect of splitting a signal in half. I tried using a signal booster in conjunction with the splitter, but that didn't seem to help.

  5. This product was the cheapest I could find and works like a charm. Don't pass it because it's cheap--it's a great product.

3 comments about DB Premium USB 2.0 SD/SDHC/MMC Card Reader / Writer - Black.
  1. This small USB device reads the SD cards from my cameras in a flash -- Windows shows the files & folders almost the instant the card is inserted. It's tiny and lightweight, roughly the size of a USB Thumb Drive.

Simple and to-the-point, this reader does exactly what it's supposed to. My only issue will be keeping track of the end caps & not losing them.

  2. For some reason, each time I insert either of my 2 SD cards in this reader, a notice appears on my computer screen stating that the card needs to be formatted before it can be used. Since one of them is filled with my photos, I obviously am not going to format it and delete them so I am unable to use this reader with it. The other card--a Sandisk 2.0--is blank, but when I try to format it, I get another on-screen notice stating that Windows XP is unable to complete the formatting. Using a card reader which came free with the Sandisk card (purchased from another vendor,) the "need to format" pop up does not appear and I have no trouble reading from and writing to either of the 2 cards. I have no idea why this is happening, but this reader is useless to me and I will be returning it for a refund.

  3. I bought four of these, one for each family member to use with our new LG ENV2 phones. They all work perfectly and are extremely convenient for creating content in iTunes & Quicktime for custom ringtones, music and videos.

5 comments about Griffin 4045-TRPAUTOS iTrip Auto FM Transmitter with SmartScan for iPod.
  1. I've bought many FM transmitters from Kensington to Monster to DLo. This one is by far one of the best ones I have used. Kensington worked well, but stopped working after about 3 months of using it. I had returned others because there was too much static. I like this one because it searches for the 3 clearest channels that you could use, a feature that many others FM transmitters do not have.

  2. This product works great for my purposes. I use it on the boat and it tunes in easily and without any interference, It scans for 3 choices and if one doesn't just go to one of the others. My wife now uses it in her car during the week and finds it just as easy to use. Great product better price and fast delivery and works fine. highly recommend.

  3. This product works very well, is easy to use and has very minimal static noise. The built-in iPod charger is a great feature. I really like the SmartScan feature as well, which automatically finds the best stations to set the device to. The SmartScan works fast so there was minimal interruption to playback. I would recommend this product.

  4. The SmartScan feature is worth the price. However I find myself wishing the FM transmitter had more power. I constantly have to turn up the volume.

  5. Got this gadget for my son's 19th birthday. He was impressed by its ease of operation and quality of transmission. Works great as he travels--searches for stations effectively, AND charges his iPod. Good choice.

5 comments about IOGEAR Pocket Card Reader Supports Memory stick Pro Duo & Memory Stick Duo Cards (GFR202MSDW6).
  1. I bought this to replace an MS PRO adapter that failed, and it does work well, reads and writes fast, on my computers.

I also bought this to quickly print from USB on my Brother laser printer with Direct Print. A plain USB flash drive works, but this USB reader does not work in the printer's USB input. I learned online that some USB readers do not work like a plain USB drive as they have a USB hub function. May be the case with this reader.

  2. It does what it said it would do. I haven't had any problems with it what-so-ever. I'm very happy with my purchase.

  3. Exporting pics from the Sony Digital camera was way too complicated for this simple but necessary step. The cord supplied uses lots of battery power and for me, it's only use will be the video and audio outputs from recorded MPEGS.
I had another memory stick adaptor, GE's Memory Stick USB but it also was made to accept other memory cards and getting the Memory Stick Duo RAM card took many attempts for a good connection.
The IOGEAR is simple, sleek and the memory stick slides in good and firm. Sony's software recognizes it and loads automatically.
Best solution! I would recommend it highly.

  4. Product works fine for some weeks, but the plastic outside is of very poor quality, so it broke after some time of usage.

Better prefer: Sandisk MicroMate Reader-for Memory Stick

5 comments about Philips SHE9850 In-Ear Headphones with Advanced Acoustics.
  1. 1. Great clean sound, through superior engineering
    2. Comfortable wear
    4. Great frequency response 20hz-20khz
    5. Quality metal case, for protection of earphones

The only fault I can find is that like many of today's headphones, the cord is a little short.

  2. I'm not a big time A/V geek, but I was a musician back when CDs first came on the market (and yes, there is a point to this tangent).

For the perspective of you younger folks who have known nothing but digital sound, the greatest thing about CDs, and later DVDs was not that you could hear and see electronic media with crystal clarity, but rather what it did for accoustic sound. Suddenly, when you heard an acoustic instrument, you heard not only the notes but the overtones as well; you heard it like you were really there. Suddenly we could hear music at the quality that previously could only be experienced at a live show.

Sure, there are overtones coming from electronic instruments, it just doesn't matter as much when you're listening to an electric guitar. Drums and cymbals, the piano, and vocals on the other hand, absolute glory with the advent of digital recordings in the common market. Many of us who had hundreds of albums on vinyl and high grade tape tossed our entire collections and replaced them with CDs.

Anyway, when it comes to digital recordings, a cheap CD player is as good as an expensive one--literally no difference--but the speakers or headphones matter a lot.

These headphones certainly provide the level of sound quality that I'm familiar with in the ultra expensive studio headsets I used to use--only in the studio of course, as they were too expensive to own for myself. Now, not only can I afford to own that quality of headset, but it fits in my pocket!

Again, these may seem unremarkable to someone born in the mid-80s, but to anyone even a bit older, this is huge.

COMFORT: These truly cancel ambient noise, and the rubber earpieces block out most other surrounding sounds--so no need to blast the volume and cause yourself nerve damage just so you can "shut out the world" with your MP3 player. No need to disturb everyone in the elevator or subway car just so you can be alone in a crowd.

With these on, I can clearly hear the music even at a whisper quiet setting, and yet not hear my wife nagging me much at all--awesome.

One significant CON: How is it that the makers of such fine audio equipment can make such an increadibly crappy case.

Sure, it looks good on the outside, the surface is extremely abrasion resistant, but putting your headphones back in--well, you would be better off putting them loose in a large matchbox.

There's also no place in the case for the multiple ear bud/in-ear/rubber thingamajiggs that come with it, or even adaquate room for the accessories that are made to go in there--yet there's a lot of space.

My advice is don't use the case, because you might just end up damaging the headset as a result. One crimped cord, and they're toast.

BOTTOM LINE: Awesome headphones, but be aware that the case sucks and you might feel the need to come up with your own option for it.

  3. Being a stickler for good sound I must admit to not having much faith in the sonic quality of these in-ear headphones before ordering them. But I was very pleasantly surprised to discover they sound really good - not quite excellent, and definitely not perfect, but solidly good. I'd say they are well worth the investment, particularly for those who want earbuds with a snug fit that effectively block out environmental sounds. I haven't tried these on an airplane yet, but I'm banking on them substantially reducing surrounding noise. I plan on taking them an a forthcoming trip to Turkey and will modify this review to let potential buyers know how they hold up.

For now, I'd call these headphones a good buy and strongly suggest purchasing them.

  4. I haven't had a good pair of earbuds (or even headphones) since I was a child. Most of the time I used whatever came with the portable electronic product (which was usually very low-end), and it was adequate for my usage. A few years ago I started to travel more and used noise cancelling headphones (NOT Bose, JVC and a few others). I was very happy with the quality of the sound as well as the quietness which these offered. However, the bulk is quite annoying-I travel frequently by train for day trips to Washington DC, and the NC headphones took up too much of my briefcase space. Then along came the Philips SHE9850 in-ear headphones. Again, I don't have much else to judge it by, but the Philips have both excellent sound reproduction as well as (because of their earbud nature) noise deadening abilities. I can use these on a train or plane and as long as some music or sound is being played these function as well as bulky NC headphones for sleeping on overnight flights, or deadening out the low-level, constant humming.

I usually listen to opera, Abba and language instruction tapes.

  5. Pros: Sound excellent, clear and detail, bass could be better but expected from reading other reviews. It comes with nice little metal case. The silicon plug are so air tight you actually can feel air pressure in you ear (this could be a cons), and that acts like a passive noise cancelling, blocks about 80% of high freq noise. Personally I like the included memeory foam plug which feels much better, yet still blocks some noise. Price at sub-$100 is not bad for the quality

Cons: Not a lot of places sell them, I can only find Amazon. Because of that I am not sure where I can find replacement for the memory foam attachment plugs that phillips recommendss to replace every 3 months! It could use a softer wire, but I have seen worse in much more expensive brand. Softer wire == less noise when the wire is moved around with the silicon attachment. Foam doesn't seem to have that problem.

5 comments about NGHP LRRX-2 AAA-TX (Extra RF Transmitter For 433.92 MHz).
  1. I already had the NGHP ATH-433 RF REMOTE CONTROL EXTENDER 433.92 MHz FREQ which supports one remote. I purchased this so I could have a second remote extended. Works perfect!

  2. This product does exactly what it claims. I replaced two other RF remote extenders with this product and it works with any of my four different remotes. Even through walls.

  3. I almost ordered this additional IR transmitter but since this ships from a different vendor it may be better to go ahead and get the entire second unit instead, like I did, if you know what I mean. This way you get the backup receiver unit as well. Hint.

  4. Hate to disagree with the 3 previous reviews, but my extra transmitter simply does not work. I have tried every possible combination of different remotes, fresh batteries, different battery positions in the remote, location, etc.

Strangely, the original unit works satisfactorily, but not great. It seems to work ok with some remotes but not others. Best results are with an Innovage Unit. My objective is to control an RCA DirecTV Receiver from a distance of about 30 ft. in an adjacent room. The original RCA remotes don't work well at all.

  5. Although my initial 433.92 MHz set-up worked well, I am rather disappointed that this spare transmitter/battery did not function out of the box. It was not the battery - probably an error in frequency or in the transmitter's manufacturing. I returned the unit and am waiting to see if they send a replacement which works properly. Good quality control is important and was lacking in this case.
