5 comments about Unisar Sounds TV Listener.
  1. This is a terrific product. My 30-year old daughter surfed the net to find a pair for watching tv at bedtime while not disturbing her husband. She recommended the TV Listener to me for the same purpose, and I was elated at the reasonable pricing and crisp stereo sound resolution.

My mom came to live with us...she is hard of hearing, so I bought two more; one for the theater room and one for her bedroom. The volume adjustment is on the headset and is battery powered. We can keep the volume on the tv at a reasonable level and she can turn the headphones up as high as need be.

As long as the batteries are good, there is no static and the stereo effect is noticeable. The headphones are comfortable--we've all fallen asleep wearing them---turning them off after use will prolong battery life. Reception range IS limited, so don't try to run to the kitchen for a snack. I've not tried Unisar's other models, but highly recommend this product.

  2. Exactly what I wanted it to do. Sound quality could probably be a little better, but not bad for the price.

  3. Works well. Used the plug from the Direct TV Receiver. Makes listening easy, and my wife can practice her harp in the same space without either of us being disturbed. Very clear sound.

  4. The next best thing to the $160 TV Ears. I have one of each and I use the Listener more often. I like not having to get up and trudge across the room to get the earphones. with the Listener the earphones can be right beside you

    Try it, you'll like it

  5. I've had these for over a year and they work just as described. As with any headphones that cover the ear they do become a little uncomfortable (not excessively) after a couple of hours but that was to be expected. I'm truly puzzled by the negative reviews as I've had no problems. However, when you move out of the line of sight of the transmitter there is a static-ky noise but only for a second. I recommend this product to anyone who has trouble hearing all the dialogue in DVD movies.

5 comments about iPod mini Battery Replacement Kit - 750 mAh.
  1. I bought this product to replace the battery which was not lasting less them 30min. Product itself may be fine, but replacing it in mini may be tricky and may damage the unit. Instructions which comes is not for mini IPOD. You will need to send email to vendor to get it or find it on cnet.com for video instruction.

I would recommend not spending money to try doing it yourself as you might not get it working after the attempt.

  2. Exactly what my title says, I followed the instructions to the T and everything came out well. I do recommend that you are a bit handy and have dealt with similar stuff to an ipod because it is a very fragile and meticulous device.

  3. iPod mini Battery Replacement Kit - 750 mAhAfter my frustation of trying to find out how to replace my ipod mini battery, apple wanted 69.00 for the battery replacement program in which you would have to send your ipod to them. I somehow knew that there had to be another way to replace the battery. As always my search landed me on amazon. After finding the replacement battery and reading customer reviews, I gave this product a try. I had nothing to loose because the price was beyond reasonable although the shipping cost more than the product the price remains beyond reasonable. I received the product fast and it came with everything I needed to replace my battery even handy tools. The package insert was not very helpful, but a previous customer recommended going to CNET.com and veiw the video to replace the ipod mini battery. I had ordered 2 kits. It literally took me 15mins to replace the first battery and 5 mins to replace the second battery after looking at the video on CNET.com. It was not difficult at all. Not only was it not difficult to replace the battery but my ipod had atleast over 4hours of continuious play, at first the battery died after about 40mins. It was really easy to replace the battery. Just take your time. I did use tweezers to pick up the tiny screws. You will know what I mean when you replace your battery. I am so thankful for reviews because I always purchase products based on reviews. I highly recommend this product

  4. Battery works great, however, the instructions are only for replacing the battery in an iPod Photo 1st - 4th generations and video. This is a confusing listing. The actual product title is for a 750mAh battery, whle a the description keeps mentioning a 650mAh. What I actually got was an 850mAh. It's always better to get more then less. Satisfied. The tools work great. You'd be hard pressed to find anything you already have in your garage that do the trick as well as the ones here.

*****DO YOUR RESEARCH AND LEARN EVERYTHING YOU CAN BEFORE REPLACING YOUR IPOD BATTERY!*****
Replacing the battery is only cheaper if you know what you're doing. Otherwise you could end up replacing the entire iPod itself.

  5. I saved about $60 by replacing the battery on my ipod mini myself. Very easy to do. I found a step by step video on Cnet.com on how to replace the battery and it worked perfectly.

5 comments about Shure SE530 Sound Isolating Earphones.
  1. I've never used earbuds before and these are winners. Although not cheap they produce a very clean sound. There are no enhancements to midrange, bass, or other ranges. Nothing is artificially bright. They create a very transparent sound. I had my doubts about the cost, but after 2 months of use I believe the quality is well worth it.

Pros: Sound quality is outstanding. Very clear and smooth (I only use these with an ipod and do not listen to mp3 files, only apple lossless or uncompressed files). No ranges are "boosted". No big drop offs. Very consistent, transparent, clean and unaltered sound quality. These are almost as good as a very expensive set of Sennheiser external earphones in terms of getting it all (if those are a 10, these are a solid 9+). The clean nature of the sound means no fatigue after long listening periods.

Also, compared to external earphones you can use much lower volume and still hear all ranges. In order to hear everything on a pair of Sennheiser externals I have to play at a substantially higher volume. This is probably very good for long term ear health.

Very comfortable, even for long flights. They ship with a bunch if different size ear pieces so experiment to get the best seal.

For those who are worried about using buds, it is easy and took me maybe five or six attempt to learn how to quickly fit them in the ears properly. Just a little patience is needed to learn how to do it.

Very good sound isolation - I've used these on several 4+ hour flights and they are much better than active sound isolating devices both in terms of comfort in the ears, isolating ability, and music quality (no hiss or hum).

As to sound isolating ability - I much prefer them to Bose and Sennheiser active noise canceling earphones I have tried. As noted above the active earphones have some hiss and hum for soft music passages (both Bose and Sennheiser). Also, the Bose boost some sound ranges, making some too bright and some too dull and the Sennheisers have a lower range (less bass and fewer highs).

Cons: If you like big booming bass, forget it. Bass is consistent with the clear and even quality of all ranges but not emphasized.

Be careful to keep the volume very low when initially listening, you don't need much gas - if volume is set high you could get a real unpleasant blast. This of course would be true of any high quality earbud style of earphones.

  2. I would not call myself a serious audiophile, but I have a couple of pretty nice systems (Naim/Rega and McCormack/Magnaplanar) and a pair of Grado SR325 headphones. I got the Shure SE530's mainly for travel (airplanes and airports) and for other situations when noise cancellation is useful. They are very impressive. Easily driven by the iPod - no amplifier needed. Comfortable in the ear. Excellent (near complete) isolation from exterior sounds. They are not good for running unless you find a way to clip or secure the cord to your collar. Activities that involve excessive movement of the earphone cord can cause vibration sound that travels right up into your ears!

I would describe them as dynamic - very smooth midrange and somewhat umphy low end and very precise if not forward high end. They can't compare with the warm low end and engaging quality of the Grados, but they do reveal more detail whereas the Grado's bloomy bottom end does slightly mask some of the mid and upper range. It is funny after 5 minutes into a listening session with the Grados I like them the best and then likewise when wearing the Shures. Each one is different but each is good enough to reveal limitations with your source equipment. For in-ear phones, the sound are not fatiguing - pretty flawless overall. Very happy with the purchase.

  3. these little earphones are amazing! i use the foam inserts and take the time to 'install' them properly. once they are properly placed in the outer ear canal and given time to 'seal', the sound is incredible! they are well worth the $$, and also protect your hearing by blocking out external noise so that you can enjoy the full sound of the music without blasting your eardrums.

  4. I started looking for an exceptional pair headphones after purchasing a new itouch and assumed over the ear noise canceling full size headphones would be the best option. I tried model from both Sony and Bose and found them to be adequate but rather flat sounding and difficult to travel with. I then decided to try in-ear sound isolating models based on feedback from experienced users. I have now had the opportunity to test 3 different in-ear type headphones. The Shure SE530, SE310 and Sony MDR-EX700LP.

In order to get right to the point, I won't waste too much time talking about the SE310's. For the money, they just don't stack up well against the other two models for full bandwidth sound reproduction. For $300 bucks you have the right to expect the type of performance that brings a tear to your eye. Needless to say this does not happen. Spend $50 - $100 and you will be much happier.

The Shure SE530's purchased from Amazon arrived on time and beautifully packaged in an aluminum cube. Well done and a very nice marketing job of creating an out of box experience better than any other headphone brand. I have to admit, I was expecting that type of presentation for $449.99 so my expectations were met. Overall build quality is mixed. The drivers are plastic and oddly shaped with obvious seams in the plastic where the 2 halves are joined. The Shure logo as well as the "L" and "R" are paint screened on and looks cheap. The cord is heavy duty and I love the around the ear cord design. It adds a secure fit and discreet look that works great on the plane. Sound quality is very good and extremely accurate. It was the first in-ear model I tested that actually produced bass frequencies below 50hz. The highs are good with a slight bit of roll off at the very high end which has a dampening effect on cymbals. Soundstage is deep and tonal quality very accurate. Fit is good and Shure's sound isolating claims are real. They do work better than noise canceling for airplanes and public places.
    So here is the grading: Presentation = A, Fit = B+, Build Quality = B, Sound Quality = A, Value = D
OVERALL GRADE is a C+ because the sound quality and build quality does not justify the price. If you are a pro athlete or CEO and want the exclusivity, have at it.

Next I tried the Sony MDREX700LP from Sony Style after a friend told me about them. I would not have figured Sony would have a model to compete with a boutique type manufacturer - but they do. I was unable to find them anywhere but [...] so maybe they are new. Price is $299.99 and they also come with an interesting case. Different from the Shure models that come with an oval zippered semi-hard nylon clam shell, the Sony uses a real leather jackknife type case that allows you to wind your cord. Also, unlike the SE530 that uses 3 distinct drivers, the Sony uses a single 16mm driver that they claim has a multilayer diaphragm. Regardless, it sounds great. Out of box was surprising mediocre given the $300 price and I would have expected this to be Sony's strong suit. Typical cardboard box with anonymous packaging. A customer would have no idea they were buying a product of this calibre. Build quality was again mixed. Driver units were nicely finished but the cord was very thin (presumably to reduce weight since these headphones will dangle directly from your ear). As with the SE530's, Bass was awesome. Test tracks using a 20Hz note gave me a big smile. Good for bass heads. Sound quality was excellent with both high and low frequencies extending better than the SE530's but with a slightly more colored sound. Where the SE530's reproduced sound clinically, the Sony's seemed to have a bit more attack. They sounded slightly more forward with a bit better detail and more spacing. To be fair, this is crazy nit picking based on hours of technical listening. The extra detail of the sony's can really expose bad MP3 players and poor recordings, especially in the higher frequencies. Fit was good and while a bit more comfortable than the Shure's, I prefer the SE530's wrap around the ear and slightly better sound isolation when using the foam inserts.
    Grading: Presentation = B-, Fit = B, Build Quality = B+, Sound Quality = A, Value = A
Overall Grade is an A- due to the value. You can't find headphones this good for this price.

Final note- Efficiency is very important in headphones being used with MP3 players. Particularly APPLE models due to their mediocre battery life and low output. Compared to over the ear models, both of these were superb. Much lower volume levels are required than with any other headphone I've tried (and I've tried many). The SE530's did have a slight edge in efficiency but I found that to be irrelevant since they were both so good.

  5. The sound on the Shure 530 earbuds is very good, but the wires are very bad, especially for the price. After less than 10 months the wires became stiff, even a little brittle. After 11 months the connections at the earbuds and wires became frayed, even without mistreatment. I would not buy these earbuds again. Very disappointing, given what I paid for them.

5 comments about URC RFS200 PowerPak Bundle w/ MasterControl RF20 and PowerBlaster.
  1. I have used many other brands of Universal Remote controllers but by far this is the best in the market today.
The learning feature on the remote is excellent and there is enough memory to programme any number of keys/operations. Truly amazing piece of work!
Also the wireless extender facility works without any problem. Two storeys down to almost 100 feet away, it works simply fine.
Guys/Girls, don't look at saving a penny here and there by looking at other Universal remotes. This is the best that is on the market today.

  2. I got this for my boyfriend for his birthday. He's an electric engineer but also the type of guy that REALLY takes his time. He programmed our DVD player, computer, cable box, and TV in under 45 minutes with ease. But that's also including the time it took to get the items out of the packaging which also used a significant amount of time.

Never had to reprogram anything. The range is GREAT. You don't have to press very hard on the keys either. Actually, sometimes when you actually bump into the remote, the button gets pushed, so I don't suggest if you are one of those people like me, sitting on it by accident or letting it get a little lost on the couch.

It also comes with backlighting that you have the option of turning off which is always nice. Other reviewers are right, you could even point the remote away and the buttons still work!

  3. My requirements were very complex if not outright strange. A brand new Samsung Series 5 40" LCD on the wall. Other components - A three year old Philips HTIB unit and a Motorola Cable STB tucked away in a closet in the passage way along the living room (with the TV on the wall you wouldn't want to destroy the 'theme' by leaving other devices visible around it.. would you?). In a setup like this, while the TV can do with IR, other components need RF!

That was the simple part... the Philips HTIB remote setup happens to be a little strange so with the simpler universal remotes, I had never been able to go beyond play, FF, FR... even a simple power up was impossible to set up; let alone other capabilities like volume up on the rear speakers and others.

To add to the strangeness, when I configured the power on/off macro on RF20, sometimes, either the cable or the HTIB would get left out (Philips HTIB and Motorola devices are best described as being sluggish and at times strangely unresponsive).

Now this is how I solved all of the problems using this magical remote -
    1. Wired up RF for HTIB and STB
    2. Used the learn function for all the functions of the HTIB (and a few of the STB). There is no dearth of keys as this device lets you extend the number of pages to 8 and even custom name each key on the LCD
    3. Within the TV mode (since it is the top most and most convenient to navigate to ) I renamed several keys and programmed power functions of each of the STB and HTIB. Now if any of these get left out, I have an option to individually control them. This feature is described in detail in some of the other reviews of RF20
    4. Even programmed some conveniences - For example in the TV mode if I hit the channel up key, the channel up of my STB gets invoked. If I hit the vol-up/down button, the corresponding volume control features of the HTIB get invoked

If you do not have any of the problem devices, probably a more simplistic universal could be a better choice but if you need some degree of customization, RF20 may not be the only choice but certainly one of the better and more economic ones.

Also a word on battery life of RF20, as I didn't find it mentioned anywhere. Given that the LCD is active all the time and there is also this back light feature, it doesn't seem to be too bad. I have used this remote for about a month without any noticeable battery drain.

  4. Got this two nights ago. At first I thought I was going to return it because when you program the remote by using the provided codes, you really aren't programming it for that specific remote, but more for just the basic commands for that remote (power, ch up, ch dwn etc.). It quickly became apparent to me that I would be spending a lot of time using the "learn" feature. While this is true, it is so easy to do, that with the addition of each button the remote becomes more and more customized, so I became more and more excited! Now comes the power blaster!!! I just hooked it up. Let me just say that it is so awesome to be able to change the channels on my sirius radio while sitting outside on the patio...no more coming back inside to change music channels. I did not even have to use the remote flashers. Since all of my components are in a center with the fronts exposed, I just placed the blaster across the room out of site and it sends the IR signals from the front of the unit. This was a pleasant surprise, as I did not realize the flashers are only needed if the components are actually in a closet.
I love this remote. now the only thing I need is pants with big enough pockets so I can carry it around with me everywhere!!!

  5. I just received this remote in the mail a couple days ago and based on the reviews to date, I planned on it being a pretty good device but taking quite some time to program. After using it for a couple days here I would agree that it is a good device that fulfills my needs perfectly and even better, I found it very easy to program and use. I started with using the "pre-program code" mode to setup my cable box, audio receiver/amplifier, TV, VCR, and DVD. This was easy, worked perfectly, and got me going in a "simple control manner" before I started to program advanced functions. The next thing I noticed was that the infrared from the RF-20 (without even using the Power Blaster) is very strong and works the components without even pointing at them. As I began to use the remote to control the various components, I found it annoying to have to navigate out of the "Cable" menu to go into the "Audio" menu every time I wanted to control the volume. Fortunately the "Punch" feature covers this by allowing select buttons to always control a specific device even when in another menu area. So for instance since I use an audio amplifier/receiver for sound (instead of the TV) I always want the Volume Up/Down to control the amp - no problem with this remote. I will say the Punch To/From nomenclature was confusing.

I then began programming custom pages and buttons to control some very low-level functions of my amplifier and this required the "Learn" function which I found intuitive and needed to look at the manual just briefly and then I was cruising. I read several reviews that stated how difficult the macro programming was and so I suspected this would take some time but actually I found it easy. You press Macro (nothing counter-intuitive here), then the button or display selection that the Macro is associated with, then go through the steps of what the Macro should do - lastly click the Light button to Save/Cancel/Exit. This is very similar to recording a Macro in something like Microsoft Excel or programming languages like VB, etc...

I would think that even for a novice or someone who is techno-phobic, with a little reading in the manual or watching the included DVD you should be up and running in no time. Many of the negative reviews are about the time it takes to program this device but that is what you get at this price. If you want to pay another $300.00 you can buy a better remote that can be programmed by your PC via USB, etc... and then spend another couple hundred on a good RF/IR box. I chose to save the money and spent minimal time to program it by starting with the pre-programmed codes and then teaching it a couple things and adding a couple macros - DONE.

5 comments about SANUS SYSTEMS BF-31B Wood Speaker Stands.
  1. These do the job, just take care when putting together. I can see why others have had problems, but if you take your time you shouldn't have a problem. The foot print is kinda big, but not a deal breaker. You don't have to use the foot pins if you have hard wood floors.

  2. I am very happy with the Sanus speaker stands. The box arrived pretty beat up, and with one wire cover missing. But everything was in good shape, and Sanus sent us out a replacement for the missing part very quickly.

  3. Going from 5.1 to 7.1, I needed to get an extra pair of stands. I have a pair of 24" Sanus I bought 7 years ago for my B&W 601's and have been very pleased. I needed taller stands for the side surrounds and since these are basically the same as my 24" stands, this was the set I needed. However when I started reading reviews about the assembly and splitting of the stand I began to wonder what is so different, because I don't recall my 24" assembly being any problem. The reason I didn't recall is because assembly is indeed easy on this set. All you need a screw driver. People having problems with this are obviously doing something wrong. Assembly tips: Put the spikes in first, (I was able to do it by hand) Start the 4 screws in the bottom base (not all the way) but just enough so a little bit sticks out far enough to align them to the holes in the pillars, Align the pillar holes on top of the screws then hand tighten. repeat for the top. I had these stands assembled in minutes without any splitting or problems. They will hold a pair of B&W 656 just fine and for the Amazon price you can't beat it.

  4. received stands in a very timely manner. they were incredibly easy to assemble and they look great in my home theater setup.

  5. These speaker stands work great-- i have them on wood floors (didn't use the spikes that came with it). They are just the perfect height I was looking for and are an improvement of having my speakers on the floor. I would recommend this product.

  1. If you want solid, well constructed cable that you are never going to have to think about again then Belkin is for you. I've never had one problem.

  2. Littly pricy, but a great cable. You will plug this in and never get another, so why not get it? You may want a longer one though, I just use this from my cable modem to my router.

  3. No problems so far; does its job.(if you are setting up a wireless network, get windows XP. 1 click and you're set up.)

  4. I bought these Belkin cables. They are very nice quality. They seem heftier than a lot of the other cables. My system analyst neighbor mentioned that he prefers to buy the 1000 foot roll. He runs them to wall outlets, then uses the 7 foot or 14 foot snap in cable from the wall to the PC. That way, you don't have to buy a 40 dollar crimping tool.
You can't solder these cables. They require a metal to metal contact, and lead-solder doesn't qualify. Also, it is critical to keep them spiraled, all the way up to the end. Even when attaching, instructions call for twisting them right up to the connection.
Since the tech instructions, tell you to keep them down to under 350 feet, these cables, whether they are long or short, are in the right lengths.
I know Amazon doesn't print prices in their reviews, but they have the local major chain office supply stores beat hands down. The 50 foot roll was half again as much locally.
These are the Category 5e cables. They give you a better return feed, which results in better overall performance. So insist on 5e instead of just 5. I initially bought some wall plates from (a nation wide electrical supply store) that were Category 3, then I returned those for the snap in option Category 5. Those were returned also, when I went to (a nation wide building supply center)... (of all places to go networking) and they had the complete Leviton line of 5e accessories.
If I had to do it over again, I would still buy the Belkin 50 footers. I don't want to have a 500 foot roll of ethernet cable hanging around.
These are tops. Gold plated connectors, Snag free ends, that protect that little lock in tab on the ends. You know the frustration of unsnarling a phone wire, out of a wiring mess, and the little tab bends over backwards, never to work properly again. Well Belkin built twin arches over the sides to prevent just that. Way to go. Highly recommended, good stuff, for a good price.

  5. I needed this cable after buying a second computer and a router. I only needed a short cable and this 3-footer worked perfectly.

  1. Works great for router to lap top, and for Xbox 360. Good price compared to stores, and ebay. Used from basement up to 1st floor.

  2. Web site had enough information for me to make an informed decision to purchase. Ordering process was efficient and fast.

  3. Bought this 50ft Category 6 patch cable made by belkin from Parts Express, the cable showed up at my house in 3 days and for around $7 its the best deal online and I could not be happier. I use this cable to connect my XBOX 360 to my modem and it works flawlessly, can't ask for much else.

  4. I purchased this cable so that I could play online with my PS2. It is not only fast but also durable. I accidentally broke my original cable (it was my fault and not the cable company's) and Amazon sent me a new one for free without even having to return the original one.

  5. Super fast delivery. Item was as described in Belkin Package. What a bargain.

5 comments about Oster 4281 Counterforms 12-Cup Coffeemaker.
  1. The Oster Counterforms is a bit bulker than I expected, if you don't have a corner to put it in it protrudes a bit to much over the counter space. Over-all it makes descent coffee, it has alarm functions that go off when the coffee has finished brewing and also when the coffee pot shuts down. The water well is a bit ackward to fill and some spillage can occur. So far the coffee is brewed quickly and it is hot. Not a bad coffee pot for the price.

  2. This is the first time I've really loved a coffeemaker! This thing is wonderful! You can adjust the heat setting for the burner, so it won't get worn looking. It has an alarm that you can turn on or off that lets you know when the coffee is ready & also when the automatic turn off is happening. It comes with a reusable filter, so there's no more shopping for filters. It has a plastic cover over the metal, so it's easy to clean & won't get scratched.
You won't be dissapointed if you purchase this one!!!

  3. Finally a coffee maker that makes hot yummy coffee! I had done my research before purchasing this coffee maker and I am not disappointed in the least. It is easy to clean, the spout does not leak when you pour, keeps the coffee hot but doesn't cook it in between cups, has an auto shut off that beeps and has a delay brew feature--that's everything I needed all rolled up into a stylish, stainless steel-looking package. For the price, it cannot be beat.

  4. I've had a simple, trusty old Braun 400 for years. When it finally gave out I tried its replacement, the Braun 510 and returned it immediately. It made weak coffee. I moved on to this one. I do not need all the extras (timer, clock, brew strength, etc.) but I decided to try it anyway. I don't like the size and bulkiness of this coffeemaker, but boy does it make a great full-bodied, rich cup of coffee. It's a keeper. Would give it five stars if it were more compact.

  5. I first purchased a Mr Coffee for $49.95. After using it for two weeks I was so upset with it I purchased a Oster 4281 for the same price. The difference was amazing. Easy to use, makes good coffee and keeps it hot for up to two hours I like the option of using filter papers or using the included coffee screen. I have recomended this brand to several friends and will continue to recomend it to all.

  1. I really dislike ear buds. Maybe I'm unusual, but they just won't stay seated in my ears unless they're jammed in so tightly that they hurt. I've got a couple of old "behind the neck" bands with little ear bud-sized speakers on them that I found and have used with my iPods, but they don't provide the microphone for iPhone use. With this adapter, I can listen in comfort and still take or make a call. The only real negative is that the cord is so long that attaching just about any set of headphones leaves you with a lot of cord hanging around (I tend to carry my iPhone in my shirt pocket, so it's only about 10 inches to my collar for the microphone clip, leaving a foot or more of loose cord hanging, not including the excess cord from the headphones.

  2. It was useful, while it worked. Unfortunately, the right channel disappears after only about one month of use.

  3. It's every bit as well built as you'd expect for the price. Yes, you need to deal with the cord issue, but that's pretty much unavoidable.

The switch is nicer than the one on the standard Apple buds, too - easy to find and switch.

  4. It is hard to get a connector between earphones and the iPhone wrong. At it's most basic level the cord allows you to connect the Shure E3C-N headphones to your iPhone and it does the competently. Since the E3C-Ns has a removable extension cord using the iPhone adapter just requires swapping one for the other. It seems like it would work with other headphones, but I didn't try it.

The adapter has a small plug allowing it to fit, unmodified, into the recessed jack on first gen iPhones. This is only a minor offering since 5 minutes with an X-Acto knife gets you the same result using the standard cord. Other iPhone specific features include a microphone and a button to pause/unpause music and answer calls. I didn't find any difference in sound quality between this and the standard cable.

Why only 3 stars? The microphone hangs pretty far away from your mouth and that makes picking up your voice a bit harder. It comes with a clip that helps, but people say they can hear me better on the standard iPhone earbuds. This is forgivable except for the fact that for what it is, I find the cable to be very expensive. 30-40 USD felt a bit steep. At half that price you're looking at a 4-star review.

  5. When I first researched this product I could not confirm anywhere whether it acted like the Apple iPhone earphones in allowing you to forward to the next song with a double-click. Well, as it turns out, I bought a set and confirmed it myself.

This is one of the only iPhone adapters I know which will not only let you answer and reject calls, but also will let you forward music to the next song in iPod mode.

Also, like Shure earphones themselves, it uses a thick heavy duty wire which does not tangle easily and is rugged enough to handle daily use (and stuffing into my pockets).

Overall an excellent product. Recommend highly.
