5 comments about Hot Link Pro Remote Control Booster System ( 8225P ).
- this unit works as advertised. i have a panasonic 46" plasma and as long as i keep the receiver about 3 feet away it doesn't interfere. the receiver does pick up some interference when flourescent lights are first turned on in the room but it just makes the blue indicator light come on for 20 seconds or so. i hope it lasts because this is a great product and i like to support home grown invention. congrats on your success hot link inventor, maybe you can make me a remote controlled variable audio output unit for my tv so i can hook a subwoofer to the audio output which is fixed(therefore the sub volume can't be controlled) on all but sony tvs.
- I purchased this product based upon the reviews. After installation with my equipment in a closet behind a 52" Sony Bravia XBR everything worked well...until I turn on the TV. The IR receiver becomes completely jammed with spurious IR from the television. Adjusting the location of the eye does not help. It might work in one location during the evening but during the day it does not. It's basically a complete waste of money if you have a late model large LCD screen.
I'm an electrical engineer, and why it does not come with an IR noise filter is beyond me. It seems that the design is too sensitive to be useful with large LCD or plasma screens which are known to radiate IR.
- I had heard of these before and thought why not? I bought two and installed both in less than 30 minutes. They both work great. All I had to do was play with the eye for inteference and now I can point the remote anywhere in the room and every thing works just how it was described. ( Full Disclosure, I am a caveman )
- Setup was easy, instructions were ok. Even followed ad-on instructions on how to keep down interference from TV. Seems everyone else isn't having any problems but my Sharp 46 really puts out a lot of signals. Giving up on this item and having to get a different one.
- To all:
Thank you for your interest in this feedback forum for Hot Link Pro.
Following are some answers to the problems, questions, and suggestions that have appeared on this forum.
We make every effort to make certain clients can contact us with support questions. The web site and phone number are molded into the bottom of every unit. In the case of this forum we have yet to make contact with those who have had less than a stellar experience with Hot Link Pro.
Hiding the Eye:
We intend no holes to be drilled for the Eye to see through. There is a Velcro Kit and a screw tab for mounting the eye. This screw is meant for non-visible, internal surfaces, not the outside of a cabinet.
Hot Link Pro does not work "hidden behind a cabinet door", it works great behind a cabinet door "slot". It also works on the back of flat panel displays, behind speaker grills and cabinets. It does not need direct line of site. The Blue LED is separate from the Eye so that the Eye may be hidden while the LED may be mounted in a visible location.
Compatibility:
Hot Link Pro is the most compatible IR repeater available. Works with all IR remote controlled DVRs, Sat Boxes, DVD players, CD players, Xbox, etc. It works with all the new 58Khz carrier based gear like Scientific Atlanta 8300, the new AT and T VIP1200, Hughes, Motorola, HR20, etc. It even extends IR Keyboards and mice.
Only a few devices that use 455Khz carriers will not work. Some Kenwood high-end receivers and a couple of Sony high-end "ES" receivers. And a few older pioneer Elite Receivers.
Many professional installers prefer Hot Link Pro to multi-piece systems because it is broad band, works better with flat panel displays and does not need to be visible like other IR repeaters.
Reliability/Quality:
Hot Link models have been in the field for 15 years with extremely few failures. When something does go wrong, we repaired or replaced units for free. Even when the customer cut or removed or damaged parts. While Hot Link Pro will not work if an emitter is cut off, the warranty is not void if a client splices and extends the emitter for the purposes of running it to a ceiling mounted projector. (Usually with great success.) Total overall failure rate is less than 1/4%.
Rugged Design:
When the emitter wires peel apart they do not damage the wire. It is our specification that the wires not tear the insulation while being separated. Consider the alternative, 7 connectors which reduce reliability, and 7 individually bundled wire sets. The whole product uses about a ¼ of a watt, lowering the risk of damaged components from heat, over time.
Remove-ability of Emitters:
Emitters on Hot Link Pro apply with high-grade 3M thick clear tape that is easily removable and replaceable and does not harm plastics. Place thumb and finger on opposing side corners at the lower part of the tape and peel up emitter and tape together. Or push sideways to break adhesion. Using foam tape as suggested on this forum has 2 other consequences: Heat inside cabinets often causes these tapes to fail especially "removable" tapes. Also heat and age cause some foam tapes to stiffen making removal difficult, possibly scratching the surface of AV equipment. Much research has gone into the tape selected for Hot Link Pro. We offer free replacement tape on our site.
The plasma/LCD compatibility question:
Sometimes the "noise" causing the blue LED to stay on is from another source in the environment like a laptop LCD screen or compact high efficiency florescent lamp.
Hot Link Pro has worked with almost all plasma TVs with the known exception of 60 and 61 inch Plasmas and the Sharp Aquos 37 inch LCD NTSC model. Even though Hot Link works with the Aquos 42 and 45 inch and the smaller Aquos LCDs. The 37-inch NTSC model emits to much IR radiation for most IR repeaters to function properly. Hot Link Pro will work with the IR and RF- noisy Sony XBR series.
The 60 and larger plasma displays will work if an Eye with Y Kit is used with the Hot Link. Recommended Eye mounting procedures will be on our site. Noise indication during warm-up of LCD TVs is easily mitigated. Turn on LCD TV after cool down. While standing to one side so as to not add local reflection, place the Eye on the back of the TV and roll it until the Confirmation LED turns completely off.
Since an IR repeater must be broad band and many of the frequencies that cause noise are very near the remote frequencies, multiple direct frequency filtering is actually less effective than power vector filtering accomplished by mounting the Eye in a hidden location. The energy in the vector of the remote going forward is greater than the vector of the noise of the TV reflecting back toward the TV.
Doors open and not functioning properly:
The Hot Link Pro does work with the doors open as well as closed, unless noise is not mitigated or if the LCD or Plasma TV are sending out IR noise directly to the AV gear and affecting remote performance.
Remote To Eye Distances enhanced:
Hot Link Pro enhances useful distances of remotes. Comments to the contrary are often because of not mitigating noise or misplacement of emitters. In the case of the Scientific Atlanta 8300HD which has poor IR range to start with, distance is often enhanced when 1 to 5 layers of masking tape are placed between the Hot Link Pro emitter and the 8300HD IR receiver eye.
We make every effort to make installation as easy as possible with the recognition that some installs are easier than others and we provide great customer service to help with the trickier installations. Please call us for help at 800-999-8846.
At your service,
Marcus, Microsmith Inc.

5 comments about Shure MPA-3C Music Phone Adapter for iPhone.
- I can't use this product unless in a quiet space, like my apartment or office, which totally defeats the purpose. The idea is to talk hands-free when you're walking down the street, but people cannot hear me at all over the noise because the mic seems to be ultrasensitive and omnidirectional. Soooo annoying! I can't count the times I've scrambled to unplug the headphones from my iphone because someone is shouting that they can't hear me over the din, even when I'm on relatively quiet streets. I love my Shure SE310 headphones and have no choice but to use this adaptor because the headphones alone cost hundreds, but the Apple microphone on their freebie phones are better than this $40 piece of crap.
- I use the phone adapter with my Blackberry Pearl, and it works very well. Callers tell me that my voice comes through loud and clear, even in noisy environments. And, of course, I can use my choice of headphones, which happen to be Shure also, allowing me to hear my caller as clearly as possible. As other reviewers have commented, the only awkwardness is the amount of wire. But, I've experimented with a couple different methods of cinching up the extra wire - keep in mind that it's the wire from the headphones, not the adapter, which ends up being the extra wire - and it's not so bad.
- I expected a bit more from Shure. The cord is way too long and the mic is only so so. If I had to choose over again I'd probably look for other options.
- When I got my iPhone and tried the included earbuds with microphone, I knew it wouldn't be the solution for me. Earbuds never stay in. I usually use set of behind-the-neck stereo headphones when walking or on the bus, but also have a Bose noise-cancelling headset as well.
I researched the alternatives and, based on what I read, decided to go with the Shure even though it was the most expensive of the 3 alternatives I looked at.
The Shure MPA-3C delivers great sound to the headphones. I have asked people I am on the phone with about the sound quality of the mic and all have said it is good. The switch on the microphone works as promised -- one click to pause or resume, two clicks to skip to the next song.
The plug is angled and does not stick out far from the iphone. I have had no problems carrying my iPhone in a pants pocket and have at no point had any worries as far as the plug goes. A couple of the alternative products had much longer plugs.
The microphone is a little heavy and droops when hooked on a shirt collar. To solve that, I got a second cord clip for the headphone cord. This allows me to secure the microphone in two places and hold it inside the collar where it is less obtrusive. (Shure, should add a second clip to the MPA-3C package.)
The excess headphone cord issue is easily solved with headphones, just wrap the extra cord around the headphones and secure with a twist-tie. You can't do that with earbuds.
Good job, Shure.
- The microphone is too far away from your mouth, and you have to hold it up (looking like a complete fool in public) and talk into it... and despite the fact that it looks fairly well constructed, mine shorted out in 3 months somewhere near the plug... I can live with the microphone being far away, but for that much money, I expect it to be built to handle forces from daily use... The headphones also are poorly constructed as the little rubber part has come free from the hard plastic (but that is another review)...

5 comments about Toslink To Optical Mini Adapter.
- Inexpensive, quick delivery, and can only be found on line. Needed to use optical audio with any Mac
- I needed this to connect my Logitech Z-5500 speakers via the Optical output on my Sounblaster X-Fi Extreme Gamer sound card. (Why does Creative skimp and use a 3.5mm "flex plug" for optical out??) The adapter diminishex the light level to the point that the sound quality is effected. I have since gone back to the analog connections.
- it is a very high quality product both in construction and performance, although it would be better to purchase this on a larger order so as to justify the shipping cost. I think the shipping cost more than the product, but it is a good product.
- For anyone who's happened upon my review of the TOSLink-to-MiniTOSLink cable by Dayton, this review will sound pretty familiar and with good reason. I went two different routes in what I ordered, trying to cover all my angles in case one product turned out to be junk. I'm happy to say, both were great. In this case, here's the situation: I recently bought an Intel Mac Mini and was faced with both a golden opportunity to improve the quality of my sound output, and a dilemma. The Mini can output audio by both an RCA jack and offers optical output as well. The quandry? They're both built into a single outlet, which means that the optical interface isn't your standard TOSLink/SPDIF-sized port. But I couldn't sit by and not take advantage of feeding output directly to my home theater digital decoder.
This TOSLink-to-MiniTOS adapter allowed me to convert one end of an existing Monster cable and hook it up to my Mini. My iTunes library sounded phenomenal on my full 5.1 surround system.
These little guys were also priced just right, so I bought several of them just in case anything ever goes wrong with one. Overall, I'm very pleased I can take the Mini in a solid HTPC direction with this product.
- I bought this to use with the optical output on my new laptop, but it broke because of all the moving around that comes naturally with a laptop. The base of the tip broke, so now the whole tip wiggles, but surprisingly it still works fine. I guess the optical fiber inside of the tip is flexible, while the black plastic casing around it is not.

5 comments about Bose® QuietComfort® 3 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® Headphones.
- Once I put the headphones on immediately after taking them out of the box, I was amazed with how good the sound was. I actually experienced new sounds and nuances in tunes that I've been listening to for quite a while. That might say something about the hifi setup I normally use, but I'm used to listening to quite decent set-ups (B&W loudspeakers, Denon amps, etc). Of course, this effect might occur due to the noice cancelling effect, and the fact that you listen a lot more carefully when testing a new pair. Anyway, I've had the headphones for a month now, and I'm still quite impressed. Not fair to compare them to my old Koss Portapros, but I would definetely say that they are worth the price (in Norway these babies are 650 bucks...)
- If you are looking for the finest in noise cancellation headphones, you have found them.
- I had been creative noise cancelling headphones for about 1 year and was flying a lot for work, i couldnt believe the difference, i found my self feeling smug that i had only spent £30 and was getting this satisfaction. When flying for work london-dallas, i was ugraded to business class on AA and they have these available to use on the flights. i thought i would try them to see how better they were. £200 later, i wish i hadnt! they are much much better, the noise cancelling is better, not £170 better, but better, the reason you would pay the extra is for the sound quality, the bass is so crisp and the overall sound is amazingly different. If you are a regular traveller and listen to music these are well worthwhile the investment.
- I had suffered long enough with a cheap pair of "skater" headphones that cost about 30 bucks, when I finally decided to bite the bullet and go with the creme of the crop Bose QuietComfort 3 noise cancelling headphones.
What I was looking for was a relief from ambient noise when I would walk with my iPod nano. I found car noise to be the biggest setback when trying to enjoy music, as the sound frequency range of the passing cars seemed to compete with the music. It was a masking blanketing effect that was not about volume as much as competing frequencies. I realized that any noise cancellation headphones might work more on the low end of the spectrum, but not eliminate the "white noise" effect of passing cars completely. Still, anything would be better than what I presently used.
In a word, I was wrong! While the Bose QuietComfort 3 headphones were very comfortable to wear, seemed very well-made, had a rechargeable battery and case (including extension cables and plug jack adaptors to boot), and they cancelled noise to a very satisfying degree (even car noise), something was not right. I found the sound to be actually very "muddy". The bass was pronounced, as boasted via the Bose in-store kiosk at which I sampled the phones described. The sound was very "up-front" or intimate...but downright muddy. It was as if the bass range was being over-compensated for, with a midrange boost in the 250-300Hz area. I played the obligatory Steely Dan CD's (a good source to start with because those albums are so well-recorded). I played a remastered CD of Al Stewart's "Year Of The Cat", for which the acoustic guitars seemed dull. Sure, I heard all the parts coming through, but as if they were behind a pillow case. The same can be said for Ambrosia's "Biggest Part Of Me", a song that sounds great on most equipment. Music of the R&B Genre, or Rap, will not suffer such a criticism because it is more bass-dependent program music by nature.
So my conclusion is this: The net result when putting on the phones is like finding a quiet room in which to hear muddy music. Where is the trade-off? I think I would ultimately rather have fleeting moments of great sound on cheap phones than a noise-free session of less-than-stellar sound for $350.00.
I did not buy the product through Amazon, and to be fair, the Bose store was very pleasant upon sale. I will be returning the Q3 phones tonight. The search goes on.
Anyone else experience this?
- The Bose QC2 are worth every penny. I'm on my second pair. I wore out my first pair after 5 years of heavy use. These headphones are EXTREMELY comfortable and the sound is incredible. I use while I travel, which is every week. I simply slip them on, close my eyes and forget that I'm back on a cramped overcrowded airplane. Whether you travel a lot like I do or just need an occasional time out, they are worth every penny.

- Great service. The tapes came days before I expected them. They were just what I wanted. At a good price. Thanks.
- Hey, after reading all the other reviews, I had to get in on the action. Great price, great product!
- good product for the I did not find anything wrong with this tape. I already used 2 of them, and the quality of picture is also good.
- Tapes were shipped immediately after I purchased them. They were packaged very well, and I saw no damaged merchandise. Price per tape is the lowest I've found. Tapes record and playback with no apparent problems.
- Quality of this product has been uniformly positive. Made in Japan, as opposed to outsourced to another country, product is also competitively priced if one is willing to shop around. With free shipping, it's hard to beat when Amazon stocks and ships this product itself.

5 comments about Driveway Patrol Sensor and Receiver Kit.
-
Hooked it up, it proceded to start chiming and never stop. I adjust it time and time again it either went off continuously of never went off.
- We had one of these Driveway Patrol Sensor and Receiver Kit and it lasted for years. However, this one did not last two weeks. Quite possibly moisture was the problem and it failed shortly after a very hard rain.
- I can't believe I even payed for thi thing. What was I thinking. It doesn't work at all. Except for the little red light on the reciever blinks, but no warning of anything crossing it's path.
So do yourself a favor and look for something else
- I bought one of these a year ago. It stopped working after 14 months.
When it worked, it worked well. Few false alarms (mostly because of the sun hitting it at a certain angle).
For the money, I suppose it's worth it, but not much more!
- this product is ok i guess . it works fine but i thought i am getting some thing for my driveway . but this product dose not work in the rain . i think it's only for the inside .. mine worked for only a week after it rain it stoped and didn't work . so if you getting it for the out side thing don't get this product my friend

5 comments about Sony MDR-G57G S2 Sports Street Style Headphones with Reflective Ear Piece.
- these headphones are awesome, fit really well, look sturdy too. quality of music is pretty good, for 20 bucks i wudnt expect anything better. They tend to hurt the upper part of ears in the beggining but u get used to it in a while and u learn to adjust them properly so that they stop hurting. Ideal for a workout or a bike ride or just general, they look cool and do not fall off!!
- This headphone sounds good (Sony's headphones, even the under-$20 models, almost always give really nice sound), and the build quality is as good as any I've seen for this price. The behind-the-head band and ear loops hold the phones very securely and allow you to wear a hat. However, I found the band a little on the small side, like it would fit a child better than an adult. The ear loops could also be a problem for people who wear eyeglasses. I have worn these phones for about 2 hours at a stretch and didn't find them to be intolerably uncomfortable, but for a really long day, 6 hours or more, they might chafe your ears too much. If it weren't for the too-tight fit, I'd rate them 5-stars. I am using them with a Motorola cell phone (to listen to MP3's), and sound quality is very good, loudness is about right.
- The sound quality is wonderful for the price... It grips my head very firmly which is good (in the sense that on runs I don't need to worry about them slipping) but can be uncomfortable for long periods of time (say, listening to music at work all day). However, overall, I am extremely satisfied with this product.
- The head phones are fine. If you want to wear them all day long, I wouldn't get them. I use them to work out in and they are fine. I think they would get uncomfortable if worn for a long time. The fidelity is good. I bought them because of the price and I have been happy with them.
- I've had two pairs of these headphones. Within a month or so of buying them, I lost sound in one of the earpieces (sound would only come out of the other one). It's too bad because these are otherwise fairly comfortable headphones.

5 comments about Belkin 17-Inch Messenger Bag (Chocolate/Tourmaline).
- This is a really well made bag. My only problem with it is that it is a little too small. It fits my laptop perfectly but I don't have room for my books along with it. But other than that it is a very nice bag that is perfect for all my classes but English.
- Because of the screen size, I was worried about finding a bag to fit my 17" Macbook in. This worked out perfectly, with room to spare for accessories and folders.
- I struggled to find a bag for my 17" laptop that I liked, then I stumbled upon this little gem at amazon. It holds my laptop securely and allows room for a few extras. The colors are great and the messenger style is a nice look for a 40-something going back to school.
- My 17" laptop just fits in this bag. When I add my cables and mouse, it's a little tight but not bad. I was looking for a bag that wasn't too bulky and this bag fits the bill!
- It was hard to find a 'fashionable' bag for my 17" laptop. Most of the bags I came across were expensive and there was a small selection for that size laptop. I am very please with my purchase; I love the look of the bag and it fits my laptop perfectly. I've gotten several compliments on it!

5 comments about Etymotic Research HF2 Hands-Free Earphones / Headset (iPhone Compatible).
- Having recently purchased an iPhone 3G, I wanted a pair of headphones with in-line microphone to round out the experience. To be honest, I'm not thrilled with iPhone's sound quality on busy streets nor were the people on the other end of the line able to easily hear me. These headphones change the ball game. I can't really imagine using iPhone without them. Here's why.
1. Sound isolation. This is most of the magic. The in-ear headphones all isolate outside sounds quite well with a few caveats. One, the cable does transmit some sound as it hits against clothing. Nothing deal breaking to me. The only other sound I hear is a muffled wind noise under very windy conditions. The other aspect of sound isolation is that the microphone does an excellent job of filtering out extraneous noise to deliver a very clear sound to the person on the other end of the line.
2. Sound reproduction. Without a doubt, these headphones produce clear, precise and accurate sound. They don't do big bass, which is appropriate because you can't get big bass out of tiny drivers. No perceivable distortion either. I feel the sound from Etymotic is superior to my previous pair of Shure earphones.
3. Size and Design. Discreet! Unlike the Shure models, these are minimalist in design and don't require the user to awkwardly drape the cables over the back of his ears. The plastic's quality is high and I was satisfied with the fitting of the standard flange attachment. The microphone also has a button which allows one to answer incoming calls, pause music and also advance to the next track. I can tell you it is seamless in operation.
4. Value. Why buy an iPhone and use the standard Apple headphones? You'll hear barely anything in heavy traffic, the mic is lousy and because there is no sound isolation, the necessary higher volume levels will damage your ears. I expect these Etymotic HF2 to last a good number of years so over time, the per year price will be relatively low. I learned to invest in quality products and keep them. Hopefully both these and iPhone will meet that standard.
- Accuracy.
Accuracy can be a tricky subject. Not everyone has an immediate preference for accuracy. I see so many reviews that basically only discuss preference.
Simply put, these Etymotic hf2 in-ear canal headphones (with in-line mic and control button for iPhone) reproduce sound the way you are SUPPOSED to hear it. The frequency response is flat - rather amazingly flat, in fact, and the high efficiency means that even a portable player can power these headphones ACCURATELY.
I see so many reviews that mention bass - most of them saying something along the lines of how they would PREFER more bass or a "warmer" sound. Having that preference is perfectly fine - to each their own, I say. But that is what "bass boost" and equalizer settings are for! The ONLY job of a speaker or a headphone is to ACCURATELY reproduce the audio signal that is being sent to them. If a headphone is reproducing more bass than is actually in the signal - sure, some people may prefer that - but it is NOT accurate.
These are accurate headphones. They "tell it like it is". And if you have a preference for: more bass, less bass, "warmer" sound, less treble, etc. No problem! Use the equalizer and adjust the signal for your preference! But it is vital that your headphones reproduce the sound accurately and do not alter the sound all on their own - which is exactly what virtually all other headphones do!
My greatest wish is that everyone would buy these headphones or speakers or headphones that are equally as accurate. I'd be willing to wager that the majority of people out there have no idea what their recordings are actually SUPPOSED to sound like. Having personal preference is totally fine. But start with accuracy first and then adjust from there!
BUY THESE!
Outside of the headphones sound reproduction performance, the in-line mic for these hf2 is very good, although - as with almost any phone mic - it can become less effective with wind blowing. In comparison to the pack-in iPhone headphones, the mic's reception is clearer and essentially works just as well if not a touch better than using the iPhone as a traditional phone with the body of the iPhone itself up to your ear.
The control button is very good. Small, but raised and very easy to press - no difficulties at all with the double-click-to-advance commands and never difficult to press (unlike some competing headsets)
Microphonics (cable thump) IS present. Looping the wires over your ears and using a cable clip can certainly help, but these are not a good choice for working out. Then again, if you are working out, you likely wouldn't be paying critical attention to musical details! Therefore, I would recommend that you only use these hf2 for more serious listening or for when you are seated at work, for example. Have some other headphones for the gym ;)
- I have had Etymotic's ER6i's for a couple of years and they have been fantastic. I decided it was time to relegate those to running only, and upgraded to these for my new iPhone 3G.
These are even better than the ER6i's, which I find hard to believe. I used to turn the EQ onto either Rock or R&B with the ER6i's, with these I have it off and they sound superb. So clear, concise, sound is perfectly balanced and true to the recording.
Highly recommended.
- I have been using ER6i for almost 4 years. When I started using its like a dream come true when you wish you dont want all the noise around you. This perfectly isolates everything and makes your own world. It makes a huge difference to your listening experience. I couldnt believe how I was listening before using the regular earphones and people still are. We crank up the volume to overcome the noise around with regular earbuds, which damages our ear slowly. But these ones just gives what you want to go in to your ears. These are of good quality and durable too. This is my second 6i now. The first one I handled so roughly... it got stuck in my backpack and pulled it so hardly. Now my second pair still doing a great job even after going in and out of a washing machine and dryer. Sadly my ipod is dead in the machine! Now got my new iphone and will buy HF2 soon. I have tried other cheap in-ear earphones, they are not even close to what these are.
Well as cons, there isn't much to say. The wires in 6i may be stiff get curled between ears and shoulder over time. I sometimes useit for hours pushing it too hard in my ear. I get a little pain after few hours sometimes, guess its better than listening at high volumes with regular ones for hours. I hate someone disturbing me when with earphones on, not easy to remove and back on very often. Not easy to talk to someone even with music paused. Must be very careful when walking in streets and crossing roads. You hear the wind passing over the wires on a windy weather. They say bass not enough, but I hear all the delicate sounds which are usually not heard with other earphones. For me the bass is ok and I hear what is meant to be heard.
Well these are the best of the best and they are well worth the premium price. No doubt the additional mic in HF2 is of same quality. Will buy this one soon. Nothing else.
- I've used in-ear headphones and monitors almost exclusively for just over two-years now, both for use on-stage music monitoring, and for day-to-day ipod listening. Obviously, comparing in-ear monitors to in-ear headphones isn't quite fair -- they don't do the same thing. But, judging each pair for how well they succeed at their given task, i would definitely say the ER HF2s are hands-down the best pair of headphones I own.
(I currently use a pair of EarPeace LiveWires for on-stage music monitoring, and have used Shure E2s and E3s... And, having just started using an iphone, I decided to upgrade a little from the Ultimate Ear super-fi 3s I was previously using for my ipod.)
The HF2s are clean and transparent -- I won't go too far into detail about that here, given the glut of other reviewers saying the same thing. I will say, though, that the HF2s are really very impressive across the volume board -- they seem to provide the same punch for low-volume listening as they do at higher volumes; unlike my UEs, there's no "sweet spot" that they need to be set at in order to reproduce well. And unlike any other pair of in-ears I've owned, I truly can forget that I'm listening through headphones with this pair; unlike so many others that constantly make you aware of exactly how much they're coloring the tone (for better or worse), the HF2s really just step back and let the pure tones come right through. Highly impressive.
(Of course, the casual headphone buyer is probably not willing to spend this much dough for headphones -- so I won't spend too much time pointing out that if you're used to having your home or car EQ goose your bass way up, or if you use a pair of phones that have super-jacked-up bass drivers, you'll be disappointed with these.)
Cable noise was a concern for me based on the other reviews, but I decided to take the plunge anyway -- and let me just say, the reviews are right. If the HF2s have any drawback whatsoever, that's it right there. The provided clip does very little to help -- and, as previously noted in another review, wearing the cables "over-the-ear" (which would greatly minimize the amount of noise generated by the cable rubbing against a collar or lapel) is almost impossible with the HF2s -- the microphone would be too far away from one's mouth if worn that way. And, despite the fact that the dB isolation is really incredible with the HF2s (up to 42dB!!), the rubber on the cables -- AND the rubber on the driver housing itself -- picks up TONS of sound, most noticeably wind noise. (Even my relatively-cheapo UE super-fi in-ears didn't do that!) So a lot of what gets blocked out winds up getting re-introduced via transduction, at least at low-volume listening levels. (I was quite shocked when I first heard the sound of the wind hitting the driver-housing being reproduced in my ears. Now I don't mind it -- I actually sort of like it; it makes it seem as though you're not QUITE so isolated from the world around you. But if you're used to other in-ears, this might take some getting used to.) Be warned -- if cable-noise is a deal-breaker for you, you might want to look elsewhere.
That said, I wouldn't trade these in for anything. I'm even planning on getting a pair of fitted Sensaphonics sleeves to replace the drivers -- an expense on TOP of already expensive in-ears. But that's how great I think they are. As for the cable noise -- I'm planning on using a little piece of tape, to affix the cables to the top of my shirt, instead of the clip -- that should cut the noise to almost nothing, making these PERFECT. I highly, highly recommend them to any iphone user -- it will change your mp3 player from a toy to a audiophile-worthy piece of gear.
(P.S. -- I'd take these down to 4 1/2 stars if I could, because of the cable noise, but since I can't give it a "half" star, I'd place it closer to a "5" than a "4".)

- I absolutely LOVE these headphones. I only use them in my bedroom for watching loud movies or TV but they are great. The quality of the sound tickles my eardrums and for the price I paid when I got them I am ecstatic. Highly recommended.
The one con would be the fact that there is no recharger. Also, the batteries that came with mine were dead but once I replaced them they were good to go. Also, a single set of batteries will last you a long time. I actually got these about 8 months ago and have only replaced the batteries once and that was because I accidentally left them on. oops.
- The product is exactly as described. The sound is great. Delivery was timely and the headphones were recieved in excellent condition.
I bought a batery charger and two additional sets of rechargable batteries, since when the batteries go, they do so very quickly.
There is a little distortion/static when the headphones are three walls away from the main unit, but it is not a big problem.
- This product was flaky from the start; when first plugged in, the power light on the sending unit did not come on, but then suddenly came on about 10 minutes later without being touched. It worked okay for a day or two, but then the power light went out again and never came back on. I returned it for credit, and Amazon handled the return in easy fashion, even paying return postage. I have had other Sennheiser products that I was pleased with, but this was a definite lemon.
- I am past 60 and for my age, my listening is worsening day by day that too after a surgery on my right ear. Earlier I used to enjoy TV programs (like Discovery, National Geography, HBO, Star Movies etc) almost till midnight.
Nowadays the TV programs are becoming more and more garbled (to me !) and couldn't enjoy the music and understand dialogues. I thought I have to settle down for the rest of my life with this deficiency.
I heard about wireless headphones which can be used for listening to TV programs. I read all reviews about Sennheiser wireless headphones and the almost unanimous recommendations by users.
Earlier days it was difficult to get these world class electronic devices in India. However things are improving and to my surprise I could get this headphone slightly above the international price (Rs. 3,500 equivalent to about $ 75).
I have used this for the past 2 weeks and I think I have made the right decision to go ahead with Sennheiser. Once I wear this and listen to TV, I am in new world altogether. The sound is so crisp and clear and I don't miss even one small whisper in movie and I am surprised how wonderful the normal mundane songs are with lots of additional instruments, which were not heard earlier !
The range is quite astonishing. I live in a two storeyed concrete building and when I wear this and go to open terrace, I could still hear TV programs (of course slight deterioration because of concrete structure). Within the house I can roam around all rooms and still don't have to miss anything.
The battery lasts reasonably well (I had to change only once during the past 2 weeks). I feel instead of rechargeable battery of RS120 or RS130 (which have almost identical specification), this replaceable battery is better because we can always use NiMH batteries and separate charger, thereby ensuring better reliability.
Overall I feel this investment is really going to serve me well.
- We pay extra for names. Bose, Mercedez Benz, Sennheiser . . . We pay because we have come to expect the best from such brands. Well, Sennheiser has definitely lived up to its name. These headphones are astounding. I was angry that someone stole my good JVC headsets that I've had for a zillion years. I was upset that I had to fork over more money because money has a way of disappearing. I am definitely not upset now. This was well worth the money. Set up only took a few minutes and was pretty straight forward and the sound is outstanding. Reception is perfect all through my (tiny) house and though the instructions warn of possible interference from other electronic devices, I have not found this to be a problem at all.
I would expect to pay at least double for this quality of sound. If I had to, I'd do it again with a smile on my face.
