5 comments about IncipioBud USB adapter for the 2 Gen Apple iPod Shuffle.
  1. After I accidentally stepped on my charger and broke off the stem, I looked for a replacement through Apple only to be shocked at the price. Some browsing on Amazon brought up this diminutive alternative, and although skeptical of the much lower cost, I was pleasantly surprised! It's much more unobtrusive (no possibility of stepping on it!), smaller, no cord to get tangled, easy to transport when traveling, and works just as well!

  2. I bought this identical item at 5Below for $5.00 (no shipping) put it on a neck chain with my shuffle - now I have everything I need to charge and sync my shuffle together! Considering Apple just halved the price of new shuffles these accessories should drop substantially in price including shipping - a plain envelope is fine!

I love my shuffle but I got tired of losing my place when I am listening to books (inadvertent pressing of buttons) and spent a lot of time "fast forwarding". I now have an iPod Touch (love it - but bought with points) and use my shuffle when I am in a place where charging could be inconvenient - when I fly long distances. The capacity is pretty amazing. I want to purchase a dock adapter but they are overpriced - no doubt the price will drop.

  3. So you have gone to the trouble of purchasing a 2G Shuffle (the real one, made out of metal) as a "second iPod"; you have at least one laptop upon which you depend for many of the essential features of 21st century life; then why in heaven's name would you want to be stuck with the brain-damaged dock that Apple insists on selling with the Shuffle?

The IncipioBud plugs into a USB port and into your 2G Shuffle, and you are off to the races. Small, easy to fit in the tighest carrying spaces (mine stays in the carry case of my Asus Eee PC 4G (7 Screen, 800 MHz Intel Celeron Processor, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB Hard Drive, Linux Preloaded) Pearl White, which is itself breathtakingly small and functional), and just plain cool.

Works with Mac, Microsoft and my ASUS Linux-derived OS -- so buy one! You'll thank me later.

  4. It does exactly what it claims to do. I have a little zippered case that is perfect for my iPod shuffle, the earphones and this little device. The original docking base that comes with the shuffle stays with my computer at home, and the IncipioBud goes with me when I travel. Plus, the IncipioBud is perfect for plugging the shuffle into other USB locations like boom boxes, etc., without having to haul the cabled docking base around with you.

  5. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4656
Has basically the SAME thing, ships free from China, and is priced at $1.40
Both sites are reliable, but airmail from china can take up to 2 weeks. That, and, I prefer to use amazon for my orders.
I know of one thing that might be a problem for both of these. The very end of this plug closest to the plastic-like plug, if you accidentally bump it while charging, there is a chance of a USB surge, so don't bump it. Other than that, this is what SHOULD have come with the shuffle to begin with. Where ever you choose, make sure It's from a trusted source.

  1. Very well made and does the job worth the money. You can keep alot of CD's in here. GOOD BUY!!

  2. This is very nice, with soft pockets for the CD's and clear pockets for the booklets. I'm happily consolidating my cd collection and throwing out jewel cases. I wish there had been a comparable case with removable pages.

  3. I have been running out of space for CD and DVD storage for quite a while now, so I thought I would try a hard case CD holder. WOW is all I can say, the construction and feel of the case is excellent. The album covers can be stored in the front of the clear pocket and the CD in the rear section, but as noted by a previous reviewer this halves the storage capacilty to 120 CD's.
I have been so impressed by the Slappa line I have purchased 4 of the DVD storage case (holds 90 DVD's each).
    Thanks Slappa.

  4. I looked for a while to finally buy this quality media carrying case. The aluminum cases were not very good & were not fabricated with carrying a lot or often & only looked good to someone who did not recognize proper heavy duty construction. This size is different as it had no problems with certain pockets being problematic at inserting media & it was the right size for me & my requirements.

  5. There is hardly a field with more inferior products than cd/dvd holders, but this one is excellent. I can't think of a way that they could really make it better.

5 comments about Creative Aurvana X-Fi Noise-Canceling Headphones.
  1. I compared these headphones to the Bose QC2 headphones for about a week. I was trying to decide which ones to keep. I tried them at home, in an airplane, in busy streets, everywhere I could. It was a tough choice.
I had read other reviews online touting the Aurvana XF-I headphones as the best, and that they blew away the Bose. To my ears, that's not true. The XF-I technology DOES improve the sound of compressed audio, but teh Bose headphones also sound excellent without the XF-I technology. I also read that the Aurvana cans were louder as well; however, my experience was that the Bose were a lot louder -- and I just couldn't get the Aurvanas loud enough to really rock out.

In any case, the XF-I function really does work, and the sound was excellent (with the power turned on). I didn't think they were that special with the power turned off. So as far as sound quality, the Bose and the Creative were close, with the Creative slightly beating the Bose in quality, but the Bose beating the Creative in volume. Both the Bose and the Creative sound excellent, though.
Sound quality Winner: Toss-up with an advantage to the Aurvanas.

In comparing comfort, I found the Aurvana headphones to be bulkier and heavier. The Bose were so much lighter and more comfortable to wear.
    Comfort Winner: Bose.

Sound leakage: My major complaint about the Aurvanas is that when turned up, people sitting near you can hear your music. You risk disturbing a fellow passenger with the Aurvanas. I found the Bose QC2 to be much quieter on the outside, keeping the sound in your ears, and not out into the world. Since I sometimes like to crank it up, this was an important consideration.
    Sound Leakage Winner: Bose

Finally, I omapared the noise-canceling quality. Both headphones performed admirably, and it was tough to get a read on it, even after switching back and forth 10 or 20 times. The Aurvana headphones did seem a little more quiet in certain situations, but I'm not sure if that was my imagination or not. But on the airplane, it was definitely a toss up. Both headphones did an outstanding job of noise canceling. You may hear a slight hiss with the Aurvanas as they emit the counter-frequency, but it's not annoying at all and very slight. You won't be able to hear it with music playing.
    Noise canceling Winner: Toss-up

Conclusion: Since these headphones are so comparable in quality and in noise-canceling ability, I had to base my decision on comfort and noise leakage. I returned the Aurvanas and kept the Bose.

This was a tough call, since the Aurvanas are excellent headphones. I think it comes down to a matter of what's important to you.
If you do love these headphones but find they can't get loud enough either, then I recommend going on ebay and getting a CMOY headphone amplifier. They're around $35 and they will crank up your volume. they are home-made in Altoids tins but very professional. They'll make your Aurvanas louder, but remember that the person sitting next to you will definitely hear everything.

Afterthought: Battery Life. The Bose QC2 uses just 1 AAA battery that is supposed to last for 35 hours. The Creative Aurvana XF-I requires 2 AAA batteries which are supposed to last 9 hours. However, the Aurvanas can still be used without batteries (quality is decreased), while the QC2 headphones will not operate without a charged battery. You decide....

    Happy shopping!

  2. I bought the Creative Aurvana vs. the Bose based on reviews in Maxim. Probably should have done a little more homework...They function nicely and do fit better than Bose (I have a big head) but I expected a little more clarity for this price. Overall, a good product just not outstanding.

  3. I experienced an unacceptable low background rumble in active noise cancelling mode with both the new pair and their replacements. I also own the Bose QC2 and find they generate a very slight but quite acceptable background hiss.

  4. I have had a set of the original BOSE NC headphones for many years and they are finally starting to deteriorate and getting a deep buzzing sound sounds a bit like a ground short. This old version has the external battery box and on off switch. I picked them up at the San Francisco airport and used them on one of those Embriar 180 turbo prop outfits United flies which are very loud. The sound of these off my IPOD is better than the old Bose ones due to the X-Fi. I would characterize the Aurvana as having more of an audiophile quality as opposed to a rock your socks. These headphones don't seem to have the same volume level that I was able to get from my old Bose headphones. So if you are a more discriminating listener and enjoy the nuances in the music I would recommend these over the Bose.

  5. I ordered these headsets only 7 days before a cross country flight. They were delivered within 4 days, in time for my flight. They worked great. There were several toddlers on the plane, crying, whining, and just generally being annoying and the Aurvana NC headsets blocked it all! They are well worth the peace and quiet I experienced. I am looking forward to many more uses.

  1. This is a great piece if you want to extend your coaxial cable line just a little bit. It's really helped me out when I was getting my DVD recorder set up. It's an absolute a must get.

  2. I've been using Belkin products for years from cable modems and wireless routers to USB, HDMI, mini stereo, ethernet cables and now these excellent RF coaxial cables. Like many Belkin products, it comes with their unbeatable lifetime warranty. They are built to last as well as provide high performance. Like their other products, this cable is very high quality using nitrogen-injected dielectric material and 24K gold plated connector ends with a yellow band for easy ID amongst other cables. I would easily stack up these Belkin cables next many of the Monster RF coaxial cables, but at a fraction of the price. This is an excellent, economical investment in any home theatre system or whatever.
Amazon offers some really good prices on these puppies too.

  1. This product was exactly what I have been searching for. I have purchased four similar products in the past two years and was very disappointed. I do not know of a better product for the price and for the satisfaction it has afforded me. I am totally deaf in my left ear and partially deaf in my right ear and this was the perfect solution to my hearing problems with television, record, cd players and radios. I would recommend this product to anybody with or without a hearing problem.

  2. We purchased the AW722 for my slightly deaf mother, who loves them. Very comfortable. However, they won't stay charged for more than four hours of TV time, and she watches TV all day long. The very short time they stay charged seems crazy to me, and I have no idea how to contact a manufacturer to see if this is normal. We recharged and drained and recharged three times, as per instructions, but even now, the charge won't hold more than four hours, five at the top. Too much hassle to go in and balance them in the cradle, then let them charge overnight, only to use them for four or five hours and go through this again. I'll be returning these to where we purchased them.

  3. This product allows complete comfort and sound. The batteries for the headphones last forever. Volume is completely at the control of the earphone, not the T.V. or other applicable appliance. The T.V. can even be put in the mute positiona and the earphones work independently.

The only complaint is that the volume and tone control for the earphones are not easy to locate by touch, especially when the earphones are positioned on your head.

  4. The Acoustic Research AW-771 gave out when I replaced different rechargeable batteries. I used the headphones just for TV and the 771 was an ok product but experienced long start up times. I purchased the 772 and hate them. Cheap plastic, no range, louding hissing sound, strap above top of head causes discomfort and difficult to insert in rechargeable cradle. Bought the Sennheiser RS12 and most pleased. Returned the junky 772 which is a deplorable product and should be avoided at any price.

  5. The price isn't too high but you get what you pay for. I have a pretty big head, I'm almost 6'2 and these headphones would slide off with the slightest of movements. I primarily use these headphones tied into a A/V receiver to listen to music/tv/video games when the rest of my house is asleep. The base station is no more than 6 feet away and I get static whenever I move on the couch. I have tried manipulating the settings, with no joy. It is just not a high quality product, but for the price it gets the job done. If you are an audiophile and superior audio quality is what you are looking for stay away.

  1. These are definitely the best headphones I've ever owned hands and eyeballs down. After going through at least 20+ pairs of headphones in my personal audio experiences, from the expensive to the not so expensive, I am finally in audio heaven with these things. You don't even need to turn your player (I have a Sony NWZ-A728)anywhere near the max, I keep mine 4 notches from the Min., that's how much output these INK'D things are bangin out (100MW In your ears!) These are the only pair of headphones I've ever had that made my brain rattle, and I'm being serious my I felt my brain vibrating. For Real. And that's with the volume nowhere near high. Plus they fit your ear really snugly. The best thing to do is when you open them and put them in your ears for the first time, make sure you're in a loud place and then slide them in, you'll notice just how much background noise they cut out, which is a lot. BUY THEM NOW! $10 is pretty much robbery for these things.

  2. Skull candy always makes good headphones, and this is a great example. These are very clear, with an amazing bass equalizer on it. It fits fine in your ear don't listen to other reviews, it's perfect. The sound is the best part, it's great. That's what's important after all, right?

  3. Saw these at my campus bookstore and decided to pick them up. BIG mistake. They hurt my ears whenever I put them in, and no matter which suction thing I put on the earbud, they fail to stay in my ear.

You're better off buying a cheap pair of Philips' or Sony earbuds for less than $10 than buying these things. STAY AWAY.

  4. It seems like ever since I bought a pair of these last year on sale at a circuit city, I haven't been able to be happy with anything else. Even the sony fontopias I bought weren't as good anymore. Mine finally started cutting out in one ear, after a year's worth of rough play so I went a-searchin' for something with ear clips or headband and after returning many head phones, dissatisfied with their sound, decided to return to INK'd buds. My first ones were metallic red, very nice and no paint worn off. I decided to go for these green ones instead just for the heck of it. Needless to say, very happy with them as well. The highs and lows are both distinctive without being overpowering and all levels are clear. You can go pretty high without distortion. Plus, they're sensitive enough I don't have to turn them up too loud. The picture shown on Amazon isn't what the buds look like, they're actually just the same as the rest.

Aaanyway, you could spend 30 bucks on another pair of in-ear phones, or you can spend $15~ for the same/better sound quality in these! Your choice!

  5. This product is way too expensive given the quality.

I recently bought the $20 J-buds and the $6 Coby's. Both sound much better than this one.

5 comments about Shure SE420 Sound Isolating Earphones.
  1. I just purchased a pair of Ultimate Ears Triple.fi 10 Pro Earphones, and the sound from those was so brilliant that I didn't want to destroy them at the gym 4-5 times a week. So I bought these SE420's for around $266 in hope that I can use them at the gym yet still have good sound.

These are a little disappointing. I'm a big fan of heavy, strong, thumping bass, and these are definitely lacking there. The treble, however, is very good and the clarity on the songs is great; I guess I was just hoping for a little more.

In terms of comfort, these are far more comfortable than the Ultimate Ears I have, and I was expecting this as my e4c's that these replaced were great too. They sit in your ear perfectly, they are light, and perfect for running / gym. I'm not sure what the reasoning was behind the cord / extension cord change, but not a big deal either way.

Good earphones - those that are stepping up from Apple's standard iPod earphones will be wow'd by the sound, those who have similar Shure's or have the Ultimate Ear triple.fi 10's I mentioned will be disappointed. I'll be holding on to them as they'll achieve their purpose of good earphones for the gym that I can knock around a bit.

    2 Year Warranty.

  2. This was my first set of over $100 headphones and I have been quite pleased. They provide a nice balanced sound but could be considered a bit light on the bass for certain types of music (i.e., rap). As I travel a fair bit they are used on trains and planes and do a great job of blocking background noise so all you hear is the music. At first they are a bit difficult to use as they have to be placed in just the right spot in the ear, but once you get the hang of it, no problems there. While this price might be a bit rich for many people these are a really nice product and I have been nothing but pleased with my purchase.

  3. I am a production sound mixer and absolutely love these. It's important for me to hear only what I'm mixing and no external noise or any "enhanced" frequencies that aren't going to the recorder.
These sound very transparent and do a great job at sealing out external noise.
My favorite attachments are the round, gray rubber ear molds. They have the best noise cancellation to comfort ratio.
Love the "over the ear design" for the cable.

  4. In a nut shell, the ear phones did not fit comfortably in my ear canals. I could never be sure I was getting all the bass response they were supposed to deliver. I'm sure they will be great if they will fit in your ear canals. I would suggest buying them from Amazon because you can return them without hassel if they don't fit.

  5. These Shure earphones have two drivers in them. They sound very good. They are full and rich everywhere, but just a little lighter in the bass department. For more bass, get the Shure 530 which has three drivers: one treble and two bass drivers. I also have other earphones like the Klipsch Image and others that have one driver in them. I also really enjoy the lighter sound too. Ocassionally, the Ultimate Ear and Shure ear canal phone can be fatiguing because the sound is so lush.

I really enjoy wearing them. I like the fact that they come with a number of earpieces to fit most ear sizes. They also come with a short wire with and extension. If you have an Ipod in a shirt pocket, you would not need the extender. I also like the carrying case for the earphones.

The fit is over the back of the ear and they fit very well. These earphones are extremely comfortable. The reviewer that said they are not as rich sounding as the Ultimate Ear Tri-10 is correct. The Tri-10 has three drivers like the Shure 530.

If a person feels that they really need the richer sound, then get the Shure 530. The price on Amazon--especially the Marketplace is very competative. It is really not much more to get the 530. I love my Ultimate Ear Tri-10, but that earphone simply is not as comfortable to wear as either Shure earphone. The 420, 530, and the Tri-10 all appear to be very well made with heavy duty cables. To date, I have not had a problem with any of them.

  1. The product is excellent but I didn't buy it from Amazon due to a total lack of communication. Amazon informed me it was out of stock after the order was placed so I bought it elsewhere within 24 hours. A couple of days later the Amazon "partner" sent me one too. After days of useless attempts to communicate with Amazon I contacted the partner and they were poles apart from Amazon, helpful easy to communicate apologetic for any confusion not of their making and even sent me a return label so I didn't have to pay for the return. They are now on my number one list and I am wary of Amazon as a result (after dealing with Amazon for many years)

  2. I bought these a year ago, to take to the park with me. They sound alright, and the volume is ok. But despite being very careful with them, especially about putting the cord away properly, they're now basically dead. They cut in and out, and the problem is at the base of the cord.

    Other thoughts:
-no battery indicator - plus, the 'on' light requires so little power that the light comes on even when there isn't enough power to run the speakers. I advise always carrying a spare set of batteries with you.
-you always need to turn the volume up each time you use them, as they start at the lowest volume

I suppose I got what I paid for. But I just hoped that they would last longer, especially considering that I take good care of my things.

  3. The speakers are perfect in sound quality. I'm no audio geek requiring a huge stereo system. It's nice to plug into the laptop (and it can power itself by USB) and watch some episodes with or bring to the beach to have some music.

However, it's very easy to accidentally close it on the cord and cause damage.

The battery case is very difficult to close and almost impossible to open once you have it closed.

It will not run on my rechargable batteries. This sucks! All my other electronics work fine with rechargables.

  4. I like these speakers, very portable. I carry it around with me easily when I travel. The volume can be turn up to very loud. I never have to turn it all the way up. I got these because my laptop speakers are not loud enough. I mainly use it to watch Movie or TV show online. And they serve the purpose. However, after 6 months, they're dead now. Because the wire that comes out of the speaker to plug into your computer is flimsy. The connection has been loose for a couple months, but I was able to manuever it to get it to work, but now it doesn't work at all anymore. So if you think it's worth the money to buy this and use it for 6 months. Then I would recommend it.

  5. I'm amazed at the sound from this little speaker. I wanted something to use in my camper for background music and this thing more then fulfills my needs. Compact and amazing sound for something so small. If your looking for something with big base and loud sound, then obviously this is not for you. If I had a negative, the audio cord is to short, if this was a problem you could always get an extension. I will be curious how long the batteries will last.
