5 comments about Koss UR-20 Home Headphones.
  1. One word...Awesome! I have owned many pairs of headphones over the years, and for the price...These are perfect!

  2. To emphasize a couple of points made on other reviews. 1) These are fairly comfortable, passively block noise pretty well, and sound quite good. 2) they look and feel like inexpensive headphones, not bad, but no better than the $35 they cost. 3) I thought the detachable cable would have a standard 1/8" connector, but it is actually a phone jack connector on the headphone side, not very robust. 4) The impedance on the Koss website says 60 ohms, but on the actual package it says 112 ohms. 5) The wire from one side to the other is under the band, i.e. against your scalp, so if you are bald like me you have a soft, lightly padded band with a wire bump against the top of your head - its not terrible, just not ideal. Overall, these are acceptable given the price.

  3. I bought this exact model of headphone from Amazon on July 14, 2005. (At least that's the date Amazon says I bought it on.) They lasted me 3 years before they became unusable from wear-and-tear. And when I say wear-and-tear, I mean a 3-year beating.

I used it between my computer and my stereo system the whole time on a near daily basis of changing between the two. The plug withstood it all. I've yanked the cord (which is about 8-feet long), dropped the headset, tossed the headset while plugged in, crushed the headset under everything from books to a computer (long story on that one), and on more occasions than I can count, fallen asleep and rolled on top of them. They took all the punishment and kept going.

The worst damage that occured was that a piece of the plastic over the Logo oval and below the slider stop on the earpiece (you can see it in the picture) on the inside of the headband broke off after 2 years of me overstretching the headset, and that was easily resolved by replacing the plastic piece that broke off back in place and wrapping the area with some black electrical tape.

The sound quality is exceptional. You can hear the highs and lows of every note in a song and clearly understand every part of a conversation in a game or video. And once they are on your head, outside sounds are gone. Someone could crash their car into your house and you wouldn't hear it.

It finally broke after the wiring in the right earpiece couldn't take my abuse anymore, and even then I was able to get it to work on-and-off for a month after that before it finally said no more.

It survived all that and I only paid $25 for it. All in all this headphone is tank-like in the long run. I'm planning to buy two more. It's a great headset and worth every cent considering how long it lasts.

  4. I have had these headphones for about 7 years now. I have been very rough with them at times. They have been dropped, stepped on, and otherwise crushed. One side where you adjust the fit cracked years ago and is now held very securely together by about half a roll of electrical tape. The fabric which rests upon the user's head frayed, and I had to MacGyver scrap fabric (from an inferior, broken pair of headphones) over the affected area. The material around the cushion is disintegrating, as is the foam pad between the speakers and the user's ears.
Yet despite all this, I am proud to say that they still sound as good as the day I bought them. These things last forever - It never ceases to amaze me. Well done, Koss. Well done.

  5. Just got mine a few days ago and I must say that I am very impressed!!! The sound quality is phenomenal, they fit securely( but not too tight around the head), the ear pieces completly cover my ear and while not noise canceling they do block a lot of the outside noise. The sound is amazing!! The bass is nice and deep with no distortion noticed. My only concern is the plastic adjustable frame which the head phones are encased. From what I have read these have a tendency to crack or break. This would be a concern if the headphones were in the higher price range, but since they are under 20.00 if this does happen I can replace them ( or duct tape them) without too much cost. Excellent sound quality for a very reasonable price. Much better sound quality than my sony headphones which I paid twice as much for.

5 comments about Cables to Go 29164 Velocity S-Video Y-Cable, 1 ft. - Blue.
  1. The product is exactly as represented in the photo and description. It was mailed to me the same day I ordered. Super good service.

  2. As always, Cables To Go exceeds my expectation with cables that are not only high quality, but durable! I purchased this particular S Video splitter so that I could record gameplay from my xbox and see what I am doing at the same time. This is a must if you want to record montages! (If you are using S Video, then this is the cable for you, if you are using AV in-puts, then get AV splitters. Cables To Go sells them too!)

  3. I was a little worried that my signal/resolution would degrade after installing this splitter cable, but that wasn't the case. I wanted to be able to DVD record off my DirecTV Tivo unit and needed to split the S-Video output b/w my Onkyo receiver and the DVD recorder. This cable was the solution, worked perfectly.

  4. Great product. Does exactly what it says. But the price is not right. The manufacturing cost of this little Y cable can't be that high. I hope other cable manufacturers come up with the same thing to give this a little competition.

  5. This a good, solid, well-built cable. While splitting off s-video will always cause signal loss, the shielding works pretty well in this one. There are cheaper adapters that split the signal at the plug, but this at least extends out and gives you room to work.

2 comments about Jwin Electronics I168 HD Radio.
  1. I got this "clock radio" yesterday and will be returning it today. I feel as if I have never been as disappointed in a product.

First, as a "clock radio", it seems odd that the clock cannot be seen when the radio is playing. You can only see the radio station information. This was a problem when it woke me up this morning and I couldn't see what time it was.

Second, there is no battery backup. Everytime there is a service interruption or the radio is moved, everything must be reset.

Third, it comes with TWO external antennas. Which is good, because without them the radio reception is poor. I live within 25 miles of NYC but could only pick-up a handful of stations without the antennas.

Finally, although it's an HD radio, it never "found" an HD station while I waited. Of course I only gave it 10 minutes so maybe it would have switched over to the HD channels if even a proper chance.

    Really, avoid this product.

  2. Bought this radio to listen to AM-HD, sent it back the same day.
Manual clearly says AM reception is analog only.

AM-HD is a terrific technology. Why buy a radio that doesn't
    support it?

For that matter, the unit I received failed to decode even one
FM-HD signal in my slightly-marginal reception area.

    Skip this stinker.

5 comments about iHome Shower to Beach Portable Speaker System for iPod.
  1. I did a lot of searching for similar products before settling on this one.
It's a lot bigger and heavier than I had imaged, but it works great. It has good sound, and I love being able to jump forward and back through a playlist while in the shower.
    My iPod stays dry.
Also, it's plenty loud enough. Put the iPod volume on the loudest setting then use the volume controls on the speaker. Using it that way, I have the speaker volume at probably halfway up.

  2. This is a peice of junk and a waste of money!! First of all, it works itermittently, with the Nano and the 60GB IPODs, if you barely move it, it loses it's connection and won't work at all. Secondly, the function control buttons don't all work!! The volume up and down work, but not the pause, ffwd, rewind and stop, they don't work! I also have purchased two of these just to make sure one wasn't manufacturer defective; they both work and don't work the exact same. JUNK!I will be returning these for a refund! Do alittle more research then I did.

  3. I have been using this with my Nano 2nd generation without any problems at all. I just got a Nano 3rd Generation and the user guide says the controls won't work with this or it won't charge it either, I plan on trying the universal cord as a speaker jack and that should work. I love it, we have an IPOD speaker in each room of our townhouse and this one is great.

  4. I use it everyday during my shower. I definitely feel safe that the iPod's that I plug are safe and the sound is definitely good. It would have been nicer if I could use exactly the same functions as in the iPod (you can't use the shuffle play for example).

But I'm happy with this product.

  5. I could not even figure out how to make this work properly. It didn't fit either of the ipods that my husband or i have. So it just went into a pile for a yard sale.

5 comments about Ibex 17" Notebook Backpack.
  1. After trying out numerous notebook backpacks, this one was the only one that could comfortably hold my 15.4" notebook. It's very rugged, with heavy duty straps and a cable-reinforced top handle. It's absolutely cavernous inside, with enough room to easily hold my laptop, mp3 player, various ac adapters, usb dongles, a book, an umbrella, a poncho, sunglasses, etc. and I've still got lots of empty space.

The only major issue I've had with it so far is with the much touted stand-up base. The bottom of the backpack is definitely sturdy and reinforced, but there is no reinforcement or bracing toward the lower section of the front pockets, causing the entire backpack to fold forward onto the base when set on the floor. This was a pain until I just stuck a hardcover book in one of the front-most pockets to keep it from being able to bend. Otherwise, I'm super-happy with this purchase.

If you don't mind putting something rigid and inflexible in one of the front pocket to keep the backpack upright, it's a great buy.

  2. This back pack is very good. Well made, sturdy for carrying all the weight. The two items missing that keep this from being a 5 star review are: no waist strap, With all this wieght in the pack this would help alot. 2nd is no rain flaps on the zippers. I am in Seattle and I am concerned over rain getting into the bag on the long daily commute.

17.5 inch laptop (10lbs) 4lb power brick. plus lunch, note book, paper work, coffee thermos, Oracle manual, Reading book. Yep, alot fits in this while staying compact.

  3. I bought this to use with my oversize 17" Dell XPS and it fits perfectly. I love all the compartments. You can carry legal files, computer, charger, cell phone and the rest of your mobile office.

  4. I really needed a bag to hold my widescreen and networking gear. Shopping around--this bag caught my eye. OMG! Everything fits in it nicely with room to spare. Great separation with all the pockets. I've got networking gear here, books there, widescreen--all conveniently packed away. Anyone looking for a 17" notebook backpack should pick this bag up. And I got in just in time to go to the computer conference at a really GREAT price!!!

  5. Fits my HP dv9830us fine (15.16" L x 11.65" W x 1.57" H)
comfortable, lots of spare storage (almost too many pockets)
    looks pretty cool too.
Only real complaint is it's kind of expensive and a little hard to find

5 comments about Solio Universal Hybrid Solar Charger (Black).
  1. I'm in the Marine Corps, and considering that I'm not Infantry, I'm able to bring things with me to Iraq that others wouldn't normally be able to bring. Like an iPod for instance. I bought this in order to have a power source out there for scenarios that might not have an outlet for my iPod charger. Everyone should know or assume that Iraq has plenty of sunlight, hehe.

I'm going to Iraq in January '07, and I'm looking forward to giving this wonderful contraption a shot. It's been nothing but spectacular for me so far, stateside.

  2. This device has performed exactly as advertised. It's nice to have the advertising describe the product accurately. I spend a lot of time in the high country of northeast Utah and it is with me constantly.

  3. This product was virtually useless. It charged feebly for a week or so, then couldn't sustain a charge for more than 10 minutes (after charging all day in direct sunlight). I use it as a paperweight now. It is a brilliant concept, but don't waste your money.

  4. Unlike some of the reviews on here... I LOVE MY SOLIO!! I am really not sure why others would say that it is does not work, because I use my Solio to charge my phone and iPod ALL of the time and have never had a problem. And the one time I did have a question, their support team was super nice and even sent me a free tip for my new phone :)

One thing that is cool about Solio versus other solar chargers I have tried is that it stores power. It does take about 8 hours of good sun, but I just leave mine in the car or outside on nice days, and it saves the charge for when I need it. I am slowly trying to get into living a GREENER lifestyle and Solio was a great start. Now I want to go solar for everything!!

  5. The charger worked well the first time that I used it, but now the power will not stay on to charge my cell phone. The website states that this is a known problem with some motorola phones, but it also occurs with my blackberry. Totally worthless to me.
