5 comments about Panasonic RP-HT227 Monitor Headphones with XBS® Extra Bass System.
  1. They are known to short-out over time, well over a long long time; talking at least 6 months to a year. (You can tell if yours is shorting out if you turn the volume control knob up and down.) I think if people hear a lot of noise, they tend to believe it's already a piece of junk. All you have to do is adjust it, so you can hear full sound on both sides. That's why they're only about 10-12 bucks anyway. If you want longer lasting headphones, just try to take good care of them or simply look into another brand.

For the new Panasonic RP-HT227s, the sound these babies put out is astonishing.. that's if you have a good enough MP3 player or CD player. If these headphones sound bad then obviously it may have something to do with your MP3 sound quality or what kind of player you got. The bass is superb for casual listening, great audio clarity and design too!

Update 1: I typed up this review March of 2006, and now it's near the end of July. As of today, they are STILL working great!

Update 2: It is now 12/18/07 (yes, you read that right.. 2007!) and I've been missing these headphones for a long time now (they ended up breaking). I couldn't find the RP-HT227 models ANY WHERE in the stores for some reason, so a few weeks ago, I decided to purchase them again on Amazon. The UPS truck knocked on my door, and to my surprise they arrived in today. I can now *hear* why I missed these headphones so much. :'-)

  2. I bought these almost two years ago and have just noticed that one ear is starting to short out(Is that the right term to use when you are talking about the volumes on either ear being different?) I mostly use them when I'm trying to fall asleep.

The cord has been stepped on(Sometimes resulting in the headphones being yanked off my head to crash onto the merciless concrete) and headphones have been dropped on countless occasions. So far the only damage it received is the internal wires being pulled causing one of the ears to short out. I'm usually a lot more careful with my belongings, so it probably would have lasted longer.

The cord was the right enough length for me, could be a bit shorter; it would always get caught on my knee which would cause the headphones to be pulled off. The only discomfort I've had with the headphones is after prolonged usage my ears would hurt from the pressure. For those with long hair - if you put it around your neck, be careful when you remove them; I've had strands of hair ripped out.

As far as sound goes(I'm no audiophile), I think they're good; they block out noises decently enough. The inline volume control is a godsend since I don't want to look at the bright screen of my MP3 player at night. The folding design is nice, though the cord won't stay wrapped around it(Still have yet to buy one of those cord wraps).

Aaand that's about all I can think of saying today.

  3. These headphones have done so well for me that I have ordered several to give as presents. They sound really good, have good bass, and the have a strong volume level. They are also comfortable. The inline volume control really makes them a great value. The one negative is that they will not stand up very well to abuse - I have had an ear piece break off when they fell of the counter and hit the floor, and the chord will not stand up well to significant tugging away from the ear cups.

  4. Would absoultely reccomend for those that do alot of listening to their small boomoxes, CD players , walkmans, Sirius stillettos or S-50s and any other portable or regular home audio devices.

  5. I'd say go to Walmart and get a pair of similar headphones made by Sony instead, it's worth the extra $5-10. These look very cheap, the cord is very thin and looks like it could be broken easily.
The in-line volume control is nice, but mostly useless as the cord is only 9 feet long.
They are pretty comfortable and light-weight. The sound is acceptable, it gets decently loud as well. I can tolerate these and will keep them until they break, but next time I will pay a little more for much higher quality. Don't pay more than $15 for these.

3 comments about Dynatron Miracle Remote for Emerson/ Sylvania/ Symphonic TVs - MR180.
  1. I have tried to find my original Emerson remote and could not. I then purchased 3 different universal remotes and none of them let me access my inputs so I could play my games. ThenI found the Miracle Remote. Now I know why you guys call it the Miracle remote. I just put in my batteries and it did work. It is the only remote I ever found that has the Game button to switch to games. It also works my menu and has a sleep button. I absolutley love this remote and recommend this remote to anyone. Darnel Rybec

  2. my original remote did not work, but I desperately needed the GAME button to watch my DVDs. I bough one of these remotes, and it did not really worked. When I though every hope was lost, I changed it for another one thinking it was defective and...voila! Now I have my GAME button and a remote that works perfectly. Yes, it is ugly. Yes, it is expensive (I guess I could have bought a used TV with remote for more or less the same price), but it is exactly what I needed.

  3. I could not find a remote for the TV I owned and needed the remote to be able to play games on it. I tried to buy what was suppose to be a TV remote made for this TV and it didn't work. Bought this, worked perfectly with no trouble. Don't waste your money on other remotes, just buy this one, even though it is ugly.

  1. Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2B9E6F67VUCNJ I bought this item for my husband three years ago at a kiosk in the mall. I was a little skeptical, seeing as though the kiosk was only seasonal, not allowing for returns/exchanges. It seemed pretty durable, though, so we gave it a try.
We have had this exact item for three straight years, storing our cd's. Since my husband teaches violin, he's constantly using it everyday. Needless to say, we have never had one glitch with our prolific use of this product. It was the best investment and I can't tell you how many people comment on it's sleek and compact design. Now that Discgear has gained popularity, they have a lifetime warranty on all of their products. I highly recommend this company and product to everyone!

  1. Obtaining Firewire cables locally would have been very expensive. These cables were excellent as to quality and proper shielding at less than half the local price.

  2. Needed a 6 pin to 6 pin cable. NONE available locally so ordered this. Came fast and worked great to move info from an old iMac to a new iMac.

5 comments about Wilderness Living.
  1. I learned A LOT from his books, they offered a tremendous wealth of information for any wilderness enthusiast. It teaches you how to skin a deer, preserve the meat, build a shelter, start fires, and much more.

However, the book could have added more depth. They only covered certain chapters with a page and barely discussed certain topics.

  2. Gregory Davenport's book is a masterpiece of clarity and brevity, and it covers all the bases. Use it as a reference book, as opposed to a cover-to-cover read. For instance, it starts off with a chapter on making buckskin. It's just the right level of detail if you're tanning a hide, but too much for the casual reader. Another example is the wonderful chapter on making snares. Davenport lists some nineteen types, all illustrated, and all with a practical application. Davenport's education was clearly of the outdoor variety, at the expense of the indoor variety, resulting in some cumbersome syntax, and excessive passive voice, but perhaps his editor is more to blame for that. Overall, it is a genuine masterpiece, and my copy is already dog-eared with use.

  3. Sure, this book claims to teaches you how to do a a lot of things to survive, except one thing: it doesn't teach you how to string up a log into the trees, so that when someone walks by and unwittingly pulls a trigger, the log comes swinging down and crushes them - like what Arnold Schwarzenegger did to Predator. I haven't yet figured out how a single person can do this, unless you're using a complex lever and pulley system. Anyways, you've really got to fortify some kind of defense if you want to survive, and at least encircle your lair with punji pits.

  4. This is a great book, a lot of good and useful skills in it.I find the water procurement chapter rather incomplete and because water procurement is of such high priority in the wilderness I don't see why he shared so little about it. He doesn't tell you how to build solar stills and other very important skills.
However most wilderness books leave something out so be prepared to do some research no matter what book you buy. I highly recommend this one.

  5. Wilderness Living contains all the basic information you might need for a long-term living arrangement in the wild. It covers all sorts of methods for providing shelter, water, food, clothing, tanning and tools/implements in a primitive environment, even if you have limited or no "man-made tools" available to you. I thoroughly appreciate that the author states right up front that your ingenuity is your best survival tool... because, while this book has lots of examples, it certainly doesn't cover everything you might need if you're out in the bush for extended periods. The author gives you the basic knowledge and assumes that you will be able to take his examples and expound on them to devise whatever else you might need to survive and prosper... which is exactly how someone living in the middle of nowhere needs to be able to perform!

Anyone planning an extended trip into the wilderness should tuck this book into their pack "just in case"!

3 comments about Built NY E-CLM-BLK Cargo 15" Laptop Sleeve (Black).
  1. Before I bought my MacBook Pro last month, I spent a lot of time deciding what kind of case I wanted to go with it. I must have looked through hundreds of cases, messenger bags, and sleeves. Having had some past experience with Built NY (I use one of their lunch bags and my wife and I each use canteens with Built NY sleeves), I knew their products were well-made. I really liked the simple but unconventional look of the Cargo Laptop Sleeve, and the brown and green color combination appealed to me. So I decided to give it a try.

The neoprene sleeve fits the 15" MBP perfectly. It's snug, without straining to enclose it. It provides a nice amount of cushioning both around the edges and on surface areas without adding a lot of size. The flared corner design translates into a little more padding in the corners, where you'd need it in the event of a fall. The interior uses a different material than the exterior neoprene, and is very soft, almost like terrycloth. As with other Built NY products I've used, the stitching is double reinforced and very strong. I was a little worried about the zipper, but it's plastic and secures in such a way that I do not worry about it scratching the aluminum case.

There are three open pockets that secure their contents simply through the stretchiness of the neoprene. In the large pocket I keep my power brick and cord. The medium pocket is perfect for a coiled iPod cable, but would also be a good place to stow the iPod itself. The smallest pocket is ideal for a thumb drive, memory cards, or the Apple remote.

Keep in mind that this is a sleeve (i.e., NO HANDLES OR STRAPS), so toting this long distances is not recommended. But it's perfect for sliding into a backpack, messenger bag, or suitcase, and provides extra protection from whatever else you have in there, or an unforeseen drop or collision. If you do drop it in the mud or something, it's machine washable in cold water.

Overall I would HIGHLY recommend this sleeve to anyone who is looking for a simple means to protect their laptop, and wants a little style and storage to boot.

  2. The three pockets are a great feature.

However, I wish there was a shoulder strap. Honestly, this cover isn't really thick enough. It looks nice, but I have my doubts that it will do THAT much to protect my laptop.

  3. The laptop sleeve is a nice way to store my laptop and cords when I am not using it, but for major travel not really the best option. The pockets are easy to slip things into, but then make the case bumpy and not really the right thing for pulling your laptop out of your bag. For me the sleeve got stuck on the other things in my bag, but I bet it I traveled with a little less stuff it might have been better.

I must say that I love the material, it stretches to fit everything then after you take things out it does go back to its original shape. I like the material so much that I have purchased a camera case too.
