5 comments about Sony MDR-V250V Monitor Series Headphones with In-line Volume Control.
  1. Listening to music through these headphones is like listening to music through a blanket. Everything sounds muted, the highs don't extend very far, the lows are almost non existent. Their sound is anything but clear. Dynamics? Forget about it

I'm looking for a $20ish pair of headphones to keep in my backpack at all times. I figured these might do the job...but wow was I wrong.

I found the Sony MDR-XD100, which is actually cheaper, sound much better. Did I mention the build quality sucks? The XD100s are a little more durable but still leave much to be desired. Perhaps that's just low end Sonys in general?

I'm thinking about just dropping the extra few bucks for a pair of Sennheiser PX100s or AKG K81DJs.

My main headphones are the Grado SR-80 and BeyerDynamic DT990s...I know what good sounds like. All my music is either FLAC or 192 Kbps VBR mp3s.

I'm giving these headphones a two star because I've heard worse...and much better for cheaper.

  2. I bought these headphones for their aparent (from the pictures) comfort, Sony reputation, and price. When they work, these headphones sound really nice and are comfortable. If you aren't going to spend $100+ on Sennheisers or AKGs, then I think these are a good option.

HOWEVER, within a year of owning these and using them very minimally (maybe only once every 3 to 4 WEEKS) the right speaker stopped working while I was sitting still at my desk listening to music at a moderate volume. I never dropped these headphones, tugged at the cord or anything like that. I realize all headphones are fragile, but come on! They break after a total of maybe 20 hours of use?!

  3. I need snug fitting headphones because I like to listen to music when I skateboard. The problem has always been finding headphones that stay on my head, but don't hurt my ears after prolonged use.

These are the best headphones I have found in that respect. They are comfortable, music from my iPod sounds great and I love the inline volume control.

I've had a lot of headphones in my lifetime, including older versions of these. Can't beat these headphones for this price.

  4. The Sony MDR-V250V are great. Mostly, I used them at work to hear some music. The sound quality is very good (even at considerable high volume).
One bad thing is that, as other reviewers have said, the headphones tend to bother your ears after wearing them for a while.

  5. First, a direct product link for the MDR-V150:

Sony MDR-V150 Monitor Series Headphones with Reversible Earcups

Now, why should you get the MDR-V150 over these (MDR-V250V)? Simple, the in line volume control will break over time and you will randomly lose sound to the left/right headphones (jiggling the volume control makes it come back, but it will inexplicably jostle itself loose again). These headphones are identical to the MDR-V150 in every way (power handling, frequency response, and so forth) except for two:

    1) The MDR-V250V has a volume control (as I've explained, this is actually bad)
    2) The MDR-V250V has gold plated connections. I love audio quality as much as the next person, but personally I think the potential issues you'll have with the in line volume control far outweighs any potential benefits from the gold plated connections. In fact, I sincerely doubt the connection within the volume control is going to help your audio quality any, so that's yet another reason to avoid these headphones

Make no mistake, I bought and owned these for a year, but the volume control has been a persistent problem in that entire time. I'm actually here shopping for the MDR-V150 headphones, and as soon as I'm done writing this that's where I'll be headed.

Please save yourself the grief and frustration and avoid these: either get the cheaper MDR-V150 headphones or shop for some slightly more expensive headphones (I'm sure higher end Sony headphones probably don't have this gimmicky in line volume control, but double check before rolling the dice).

1 comments about Griffin Wave Interlocking Case for iPhone (Green and Black Translucent).
  1. I used to have a silicone cover for my ipod and I didn't like it because it always picked up fuzz and hair. The Wave case is made up of completely smooth hard plastic but has a finish that doesn't show prints. Both cases in the duo-pack come with hard plastic screen protectors which work REALLY well with the touch screen (the screen is still very sensitive and even with the hard plastic is very accurate.) Everyone who has seen the case on the phone is impressed with how it looks and how it doesn't add too much thickness.

Why four stars and not five? The assembly process is a little difficult. It was a two man job apparently, and we had to hold the phone with buffing cloths to keep out dust and oil and then slip the protector sheet and the two sides of the phone in the right order. It took a few minutes to finagle the pieces together, and I was a little apprehensive about forcing hard plastic on a very fragile phone. However, my 3G has been in its case since the second day i got it, and I have a feeling it's going to look brand new for a LONG time.

3 comments about Monster iSoniTalk Microphone Headphone Adapter for iPhone - Microphone.
  1. I got this product for christmas (less than a month ago), after searching for the perfect solution to the iPhone's recessed headphone jack. This had a unique design that looked sturdy and well thought out, and it was cheaper than the shure headphone adapter for iphone.

My first impression was one of my worst fears, this is going to suck to have in your pocket. It just sticks out too far from the headphone jack, especially since headphones requiring this generally have bulky plugs. The next thing I realized is that the design, with the mic cord coming out directly beside the new headphone port, still limits the size of the headphone plug. My high end Sennheisers require an 1/4 to 1/8 headphone adapter already, and the resulting 1/8 plug is too bulky to plug into the iSoniTalk because the mic wire is too close to the port! Next, less than a month later with only very few uses, it seems there's a loose connection in the adapter assembly so that sound cuts in and out (it went from annoying to impossible in very short order. This is getting sent back and I'm getting the Shure headphone adapter instead. It's design is much more practical, with the only flaw being that it extends the headphone cord quite a bit.

That said, the mic assembly and button felt good and was lightweight, and I've been told the call voice quality was good.

  2. I have gone through both the monster i sonic and now the griffin i-talk.

First let's start with the Monster, outgoing call quality may be better that the Griffin but it has a huge and fatal flaw, and that is the dongle itself. The Monster has a huge connector, which at first may not seem like a big deal, but it acts like a lever when put it into your pants pocket. It will definitely remove your headphone jack from the iphone circuit board, it in fact did so in less than a week after purchase. (Thank you Apple Store SF. for letting me upgrade to 16gb as I returned my broken phone) This is just through normal use, I was even pretty cautious as I just bought the phone, if you put the phone in your shirt pocket that may help, but ultimately even that will lead failure.

Now lets move on to the Griffin. They took a different route. With this you plug your headphones into the top of the cable which makes for a much lower profile at the phone itself, but as noted adds that length to your current headphone cord. I am lucky to have fairly new headphones that allow for replaceable cords ( Bose OnEar if you are interested.) so the Griffin just replaces that which is pretty sweet. Now the bad news. The cord on the Griffin has a vinyl cover which seems to be the rage these days. I am not sure why however as in my exierience they blow. The problem is that the material is relatively stiff and now the cable is failing at the connector (hey at least its not my phone this time). So long story short avoid the Monster at all costs, and if you can manage to not trip over the Griffin's cord maybe buy 2 at a time as the crappy cord materials make it disposable at best.

Can I please get a decent solution? One with full functionality ( I am looking at you Bose). The i-phone is awesome it amazes me that noone can figure out the friggin cord though.

  3. I've had the iSoniTalk for about 6 months now and have used it for a variety of situations. I purchased the iSoniTalk because I wasn't ready to ditch my in-ear Sony MDR-71 headphones but needed to be able to use them fully with my iPhone.

    The Good News
    1. The iSoniTalk works as advertised. It allows any standard set of headphones to work as a phone headset and overcome the 1st gen iPhone recessed jack flaw.

    2. The call quality is fine with iSoniTalk as long as the microphone stays in place (see Bad News #2 below).

    The Bad News
    1. As the other reviewers have noted the adapter that connects to the iPhone is too large...it makes the overall headset connection much longer. This is a pain because the Sonys use a right-angle adapter (which worked great with my 1st gen nano).

    2. The interior of the microphone clip is nearly smooth, with the exception of a small plastic ridge. I imagine that the gang from Monster thought that this ridge was going to act as a "catch" to keep the mike from pulling off your shirt. It doesn't work very well. The #1 reason why people suddenly can't hear me? The mike has fallen off my shirt. It doesn't take much strain for the mike to fall...walking through O'Hare will do it.

It's a middling grade for the iSoniTalk even though I use it frequently. I'll continue to use it until I decide to find a suitable replacement for the Sonys that have the mike built-in.

  1. I was in dire need of new guitar cables. After comparing prices of several vendors, I found the HOSA PRO GUITAR CABLE, 15 ft. PRO. It was the lowest price and fit my requirements (so I purchaced three). On top of a great price, the products arrived quickly.

  2. I've been thru a million cables....I hate them. Decided to go ahead and buy a decent one so I did. It is decent and hasn't broke on me yet. It's been 5 or 6 months and I use it a few times a week

  3. We bought this cord for our teenage daughter because we were hoping it would be durable and provide quality sound. We were not disappointed. It's a great cord for the price. I plan to buy more in the future.

5 comments about Sony Ericsson K750 W800 W600 Z520 Z525 Data Kit USB Cable DCU-60.
  1. Light, transfers fast, and price less than half of from at&t store. It can even be used to install language pack and applications on my Z520 using the right software. The only thing I feel sorry is it cannot be used to unlock the cellphone.

  2. I found a few reviews stating that this cable did not work for Z525a phones. That made me a little hesitant, but I trusted SonyE and bought the cable anyway. After downloading PC Suite from their website, I was able to transfer files at will between PC and phone. I'm not sure what problem other Z525a users had, but this product has worked great for me.

  3. This data cable was a much lower price than the same cable at other, more well known locations. Still, the cable was shipped immediately and worked perfectly. I wish I could buy everything here.

  4. I ordered this item to help me upload pictures from my phone to my computer. I chose this route as a last resort when I realized that I could not transfer my photos any other way. I was very disappointed to find out that this item should have a cd with it and that because it had no cd, I could do nothing with it. Fortunately, I did not spend much money on this item.

  5. Cable came extremely quick and was an incredible value!
I saved an enormous amount of money compared with what I would have spent at AT&T. (where I bought phone)

  1. Verbatim DVD's are good quality. Haven't burner a drink coaster yet. The film reel design is a plus if you give your video the film look....

  2. These DVD's are the best I've ever used. They just don't feel cheap; they're not heavy, obviously, but they aren't light, either. They feel substantial, if that makes sense to you. They aren't as thin as some I've seen, and won't bend easily. They won't wilt when they get warm from the DVD drive. And the movie reel design is just cool...

  3. these discs are the best i ever used. they do not freeze when you play them back.the movie film look is awsome too.you will be a fool if you do not buy these because these are the greatest.excellent quality in video and audio. the picture and sound look excellent. and remember they do not freeze when you play them back.

  4. The DVD is excellent to use. I have never had an error with any disc to date, I feel I can depend on it with full trust. The design of a movie reel is of great entertainment to me. I recommend it to anyone, and I hope to see soon 50 or 100 sprinkle of it's digital movie design soon at a special price. Price is everything to a customer. but for now I am very satisfied with the price for the 25 sprinkle. Thank you for entertaining us.

  5. I have used all types, brands, speeds of DVD media through the years..since 2002 and got the very first DVD recorder and owned a few since...These are By far the very best in Quality and metal azo dyes.
Superb ! The only thing tricky is the X 4 and X 8 that are with the same product code with many companies who sell these. Be careful if you
are ordering X8 and somehow you get X4 ...but regardless..they are excellent. Good price too. A great investment for archiving films.

3 comments about Tripp Lite P950-36I Serial ATA II Signal Cable, 2x7-pin Straight Connector - 39in.
  1. It was short and expensive for me but works ok... I'm very disappointed with Segate and Addonics

  2. I bought this cable together with a 750GB harddrive for expanding my DirecTV's HD DVR. According to forum search on internet, the HD DVR will accept external HHD connected via ESATA cable, and only works with ESATA cable. I bought the two said items both from Amazon (Amazon, LLC). Amazon advertised this as ESATA cable.

In reality, when the item arrived, both the flex-film package as well as the markings on the cable says SATA; nothing on the package/product was labelled ESATA. Sure enough, when connected, the DVR did not recognize the external HDD. I then bought a ESATA cable from local BestBuy just to prove/dis-prove this -- and sure enough, with the ESATA calbe from local store, the DVR recognizes the external HDD.

Bottomline: This item is advertised by Amazon as ESATA, but it is not ESATA. I'm gonna try and return this item. If Amazon reimburse in full, including shipping, I'll change my rating to neutral. But as of now, I feel cheated (and have evidence to prove I got cheated) by Amazon.

  3. this was my first eSATA purchase. I had read reviews of many brands, some which are too stiff and unplug from computer port. I had read other reviews of other tripp lite cables and took a chance on the eSATA cable. It is a great cable! Well worth the money. It stays in the port just fine, and there were no problems getting it to work. ( I connected it to my external hard drive, a Western Digital My Book Home Edition). If your looking for a good eSATA cable, get this one. Its 36" long, enough to go from PC to desk beside monitor.

5 comments about iLive Home Music System with iPod Dock (Black).
  1. This is the BEST Ipod Docking Station.....the sound that comes out of it sounds like it is coming out of the best stero system that money could buy.

  2. I bought one of these off of Ebay several weeks ago. It seemed to work ok. When I brought it in to my office the right channel went out. Well I monkeyed around and now it works good. The sound of the IPOD is pretty good for the price. The problem with the unit is the CD, it skips all of the time. Even if you put in a new CD. The AUX input is great to pipe in you PC sound or other sources. I liked this enough that I bought another one off of Ebay and the CD player skips as well. I hit the unit many times and now the CD's seem to work for now. I recommend this product for the sound, the AUX input and sub output. The CD is not high quality, CD decks have been around for quite some time now and GPX needs to find a better CD player for this unit. I will probably buy a portable CD and use the AUX input. I paid 40 bucks for the first and 16.50 for the second. The price is very attractive when compared to other units that offer a lot less options. So overall I recommend this product for those who want a lot of options at a good price.

  3. After reading the mixed reviews, I decided to take a risk and purchase this unit. I agree that it has great sound quality, and has a nice look. I purchased one for my office; it's compact and a great fit. CD and radio work fine. However, the iPod function doesn't work, which was one of the main reason I selected the system. It charges it, and I can control the iPod - I simply cannot hear it. So for the price paid, I guess I should have expected problems. I have to send it back to the manufacturer (postage NOT paid) and the will send me another unit (postage paid). It's a great item in the event that yours comes in full working order. I'll let you know what happens the second time around.

  4. I purchased this item from Amazon (yes, with free shipping to Hawaii! =^_^=) and its awesome. Its set up in my bedroom and it works great. The sound system could use more base, but hey for $55, this is a great CD player, iPod dock, Alarm clock, radio, I use it with my iPhone with an AUX jack, and play my iTunes remotely. It also comes with a fully functional remote. This has a lot of features for being compact.

UPDATE: I JUST TRIED THE AUX JACK AND ITS TERRIBLE, THERE IS BARELY ANY SOUND COMING OUT OF THE SYSTEM. THIS ITEM IS BEING RETURNED FOR A REFUND. CAN'T UPDATE STARS GIVEN!

  5. I bought it and it works good it sounds right and it was what I was looking for this is a good buy
