5 comments about Etymotic Research ER6i Isolator In-Ear Earphones (Black).
  1. I am a long time user of Shure E2c headphonesShure E2c-n Sound Isolating Earphones (Black), and I'm a big fan of ear-bud noise isolating earphones. I suspect that many of the negative reviews of both Shure and these Etymotic earphones are made by customers who can't get a proper fit of the earphones which is essential for creating any bass. For those of you struggling with the sound of these Etymotics, I suggest 2 things. 1. If you can hear external noises fine with the rubber eartips -- they don't fit. Try Foam eartips (the only ones that worked for me), and 2. on your ipod, under Settings, go to EQ, and select "Treble Reducer". Doing this I have found a pretty good sound. As others have said, the bass is here. For me, I just needed to turn down the treble to hear the full sound! :(

If you are thinking about these vs. the Shure earphones, I would go with the Shure earphones. Shure earphones have many more eartips sizes which means you are more likely to get the best fit. Second, you shouldn't need to change the EQ setting to get balanced, natural sound.

I recently lost my Shure earphones and thought I would give these Etymotic ER6i earphones a shot based on the customer reviews of superior fidelity. My experience, unfortunately, is that the eartips on the Etymotic earphones absolutely do not work with my ear. I have tried both large and small eartips and I can't get either into my ear even with water. (On a side-note I am curious what most people use for water ... spit?! Given all the germs in the human mouth, inserting spit deep into your ear canal just doesn't seem like a good idea). So, I am forced to use the foam eartips. With the foam eartips I can get a pretty good seal and now that helps allot. Even with these, however, I find there is so much treble in these earphones I am forced to adjust the EQ on my ipod. At first I was increasing the bass, but then thinking back on the reviews of others that the bass is very high quality on these earphones, I tried to instead reduce the treble. This has given me very good results and I can say that now I have really pretty good sound.

  2. Comes with regular, small and foam earpieces. I don't find them uncomfortable and have worn them up to two hours in airliners. Fantastic in airliners to cut cabin noise...can listen to music at reasonable volume without having to max out iPod volume to overcome cabin/engine noise. There is a technique to putting them in--not something you want to keep putting in and taking out frequently. Great sensitivity, good volume and bass out of an iPod. Be careful not to pull on cord when taking them out--I haven't broken the wires but they look fragile.

  3. Once I figured out how to get the earphones all the way into my ear canal without putting too much pressure on the ear drum (which required a certain amount of trial and error) I find that these work better than any of my noise canceling around the ear earphones (Bose and others).

  4. I purchased the ER 6i's to wear on a recent motorcycle trip and on short Saturday morning rides. I'm aware of the damage extended exposure to the decibel levels experienced while riding that can occur and want to avoid it with full plugs rather than ear buds. These plugs, while effective at diminishing ambient noise to a safe level, give only a partial spectrum of frequencies found in music. That which is missing, is the bass. Many tunes with bass solos, seem absolutely quiet during the solos. it's like it isn't on the track. Listening to these plugs while on an airline flight is adequate. Therefore, high ambient noise levels experienced while motorcycling (and probably other noisy activities) seem to over tax the ER's ability to reveal a full musical spectrum.

  5. I'm not sure what everyone's talking about with these. I bought them based on reviews, and the sound is really disappointing. Could it be I'm doing something wrong? Is there some button or switch I need to flip on these things? Cause the sound is terrible. No bass whatsoever, no matter what the EQ setting on my iPod.

And noise isolating? Again, I don't get it. I thought my ear canals were pretty mainstream up til now, but maybe I have fine grooves which let in ambient sound. I'm going to return them and buy something cheaper and better.

5 comments about Griffin iClear Hard-Shell Case for iPod touch 1G (Clear).
  1. After visiting the local Apple store and seeing that they wanted $25-30 for iPod Touch cases, I decided to visit Amazon and see what they had to offer. I found the same Griffin iClear case for HALF the cost and when I saw that it had nearly a 5-star rating from over 25 people, I knew that was the case for me!

I've been very pleased with the iClear so far. It is an exact fit for my 8GB iPod Touch and adds minimal bulk to the dimensions. There is a generous slot at the bottom for a dock connector and headphones and I was even able to snap on my external mini-speakers. Some have complained that this case makes the sleep button at the top harder to push, but I find that it's actually easier for me to locate the button by running my finger along the top left corner and letting if slip right into the little recess in the case. It's almost like it lines your finger up!

Even the price wasn't good enough, the Griffin iClear even came with a clear screen protector film and a soft cloth for wiping finger prints. I recommend washing your hands really good and giving your iPod a thorough wipe down before encasing it in the iClear, because you probably won't be taking it out again, 'cept to change the screen protectors! Of course, if you don't want to even do that, get yourself an Invisible Shield protector.

  2. This is really a nice protector for my IPOD Touch. I pondered the leather case, but I didn't want my system concealed. This product is made of a sturdy plastic that will protect it's contents. I've accidently dropped it a few times and was amazed that it maintained the system and did not split in two pieces. I do recommend the clear screen protectors for extra protection which if they do get scratched, you can easily slap on another one. The only drawback to this item in which I did not rate a five star is the dock connector opening. You can easily connect the USB cable to the IPOD with the case on however, I have to remove the case if I want to dock it to my IHome system. I do not know about other dockable systems however mine will not allow the IPOD to dock without removing the cover. I do recommend the product as I have had it 6 months and love it, coupled with the price...you can't go wrong.

  3. Just got the new Ipod Touch (32 mb) today and went to Target to buy a good case. I picked up the Griffin iClear Hard-Shell Case and took everything home. After trying for a good 30 minutes to get the case on, I finally went to the Apple site and checked the depth of the new Touch. The new Touch has a depth of .33 (8.5m); whereas the old Touch's depth is 31 (8m). Yes, just that little amount of depth will render the case useless. Nowhere on the packaging for the case does it give the acceptable size for a good fit. And I thought I was getting a great deal because the case is on sale at Target for $10.00. Too bad it doesn't fit the new Touch. Beware if you're planning to buy any case for the Touch, make sure it says it will fit the new Ipod Touch. My next stop will be at the Apple store.

  4. If your buying this case to protect your ipod touch from breaking when dropped this product is amazing but for Scratches. Its completely horrible. The case has put an amazing amount of scratches around the backing of the metal on my ipod and the case its self gets very scratched. Not the best case.

  5. Got this product several weeks ago; it works perfectly, I've dropped my ipod a few times, no scratches and the case held up. It's a great protective case if you don't want to camouflage your iPod but still want to protect it.

However, if you use the dock, my ipod won't sit on the dock anymore, I have to unplug the cord from the base and connect it, which is kind of a drag, but regular connectors still fit easily and I haven't had any problems with my car adapter.

Plus, it's the cheapest price I saw from several stores I looked at before buying at Amazon.

  1. These cords sell for $120.00 at the mall where I live. Can you imagine? This cord works beautifully! Absolutely no difference from the cord my brother in law purchased from Best Buy for an astronomical price. Please, don't waste your money on a high priced Hdmi when you can purchase this one. Let's stop being gouged by mall retailers!!!

  2. I ordered this cable to get a longer extension. I thought it wouldn't be as high in quality since it was so cheap. Boy was I wrong! It works just as great as those overpriced Monster cables.

  3. Nice cable. It works as great as any other but for a minimum price, even come with protectors for the connectors. Buy it.

  4. bought this for a tv that had to be 10' away, works fine, no problems

  5. At first I was a little skeptical about the quality of this cable, now I realize that I was wrong. The cable works fine. I use it to connect a Toshiba SD-6100 Upconversion DVD player to a Mitsubishi HC1600 Home Theatre projector. The cable has no problem to support the 1080i resolution. (Note that I didn't use this cable with 1080p resolution because my projector doesn't support 1080p). The result is spectacular: beautiful colours, sharp images, 16:9 widescreen, upconversion to 1080i, ... However I have to wait and see whether the cable and its connectors are durable and reliable. I have a 6 feet Belkin Pure/AV HDMI cable (much more expensive) and I'd say that its connectors are "stronger" than that of this Link Depot cable. However, I'd say that the quality of the images produced by the Link Depot cable matches with that of the Belkin cable.

5 comments about Sennheiser RS 130 Wireless Surround Sound Headphones.
  1. These headphones are just what I was looking for. Crystal clear sound and very comfortable to wear...I highly recommend these.

  2. I'm quite happy with the Sennheiser RS 130 head phones. The sound quality is excellent for wireless headphones and they are quite comfortable. The complaints I hear must be from audiophiles, because honestly, I don't hear a high pitched whine. The only thing I hear is a mild hiss when there is low or little sound, but that's to be expected from wireless head phones. The sound quality is very good and they don't have any "lag" when I'm watching TV (lips synch correctly). They are very small profile, so I just put them on top of my TV and grab 'em when I need them.

I only have one complaint about these headphones...My ears get hot when I wear them. I can usually wear them for about 1 to 2 hours before I get uncomfortable.

Not a ding on the product, but a ding on Sony...For those of you that own a Sony TV, be warned, Sony is stupid. You must turn OFF the TV speakers to enable audio out. It's quite irritating. So, make sure your remote has plenty of battery power, you'll be switching the audio on the TV on and off quite often.

  3. I have been using the Sennheiser RS130 for approximately one month. It was purchased to alleviate a bit of domestic discord over the volume at which I listened to our Plasma TV. In order to get most of what was said I had to increase the volume to where it was intolerable for my spouse. I was grasping at straws when I ordered these headphones because I was certain that they would give substandard sound due to the wireless transmission of audio which can be interfered with in a number of ways. I was wrong. These headphones not only allow me to hear at whatever volume I choose, they actually increase my ability to hear the TV to a point better than I could have heard at any volume with just the TV alone.I now frequently use the head phones in order to better hear a program's content even when volume is not and issue. The headphones are comfortable and controls are easily accessible while wearing them. I am entirely satisfied with them and am very impressed with their quality.

  4. These headphones are awesome-they exceeded my expectations. My wife and I use them when we're on the treadmill; but realized I can wear them anywhere around our house or out in the yard, and still get crystal clear reception. Highly recommend if shopping for wireless headphones!

  5. I enjoy the freedom of movement while listening to my playlist. I have a range of about 150 feet outside my home( in a county setting). Quility is great and wieght is ok.

5 comments about Targus TXL617 17 XL Notebook Backpack.
  1. It is a decent bag and can fit a lot to stuff. However, I found one issue with it. It's back is straight without any padding, so the bag sticks right with the back. Therefore there is no breathing room and the back can get wet and sweaty on a hot day.

  2. I clicked on the the Targus TXL717 17 XL ROLLING Notebook Case and many of these reviews are for a BACKPACK Notebook Case. What gives?

  3. I was very disapointed in this back pack. It's extreamly big, the strange place with the two nets is practicaly useless, and even though it appears that the zippers are hidden by a weather gaurd to help protect the computer from the rain, they aren't. All in all i would have liked a different pack.

  4. I bought this backpack to use at college. I've had it for three weeks and I love it. I have 15 in macbook and bought the Brenthaven Edge II Sleeve (Black) for 15.4" MacBook Pro case to protect it. the case has a lot of structural integrity, far more than a sleve and thus adds a lot of bulk, but this backpack fits the laptop in the case in the laptop slot.

With the laptop in there, I can still fit my notebook, calc textbook, history textbook and reader and another 500 page book all in the laptop pocket and the first pocket after that. Then my ac adaptor, calculator and other bulky non book items can fit in the third pocket. And then theres those two mesh pockets and the whole front part for small stuff or anything else.

The only negative thing about this backpack is its not so good for packing clothes for a trip if you want one backpack for absolutely everything. also the zippers don't look so heavy duty, but no problems yet.

While this pack fits a lot of stuff and is very light. when nothings in it collapses real well so I still like it even when I'm just carrying my laptop or a couple books. It also is much more comfortable then my old Jansport backpack. I can fit about twice the weight in this backpack, but I get fewer aches and pains from carrying a full load around then I did with my old backpack.

If your like me and you like to have everything with you, I don't think theres a better backpack out there.

  5. happy w bag

5 comments about Griffin TuneBuds Mobile for iPhone (Black).
  1. I have searched for quite a while and was dismayed at the cost for earbuds that I researched (at times, 10 times the amount of these); and I was refreshed to find a much less expensive option. They are perfect for what I wanted -- iPhone compatible (original and 3G) with mic and play/pause button, noise-canceling, good overall sound with enough bass and decent highs and mids, a strong cord and seemingly durable construction. The mic has been a little muddy at times (on the other person's end) but is better depending on its proximity to my mouth. My largest concern was to not spend a lot, considering how vulnerable I am to losing them. These match all my preferences exceptionally well.

  2. These are great. They fit in your ear and block out lots of outside noise. I love the fabric exterior of the cord instead of plastic. It makes them feel much better. The sound quality on the mic is excellent people cant tell I am using them ! I highly recommend these !!

  3. I received these headphones about 3 weeks ago, and was initially disappointed with the sound. My previous phones were Sennheiser CX-300 earbuds which lasted me well over a year and had pretty good sound. The equivalent pair of Sennheisers with an iPhone mic and button are $100, so these Griffin earbuds looked like a good compromise. I eventually got accustomed to the sound on these phones and was more or less a happy camper, until about a week ago (two weeks after first receiving the headphones) i discovered that the cable is starting to pull out of the fabric at the junction with the plug, and now the wires inside are damaged and sound cuts in and out of both sides of the earbuds. Granted, I only spent $30 on these headphones, but at the very least I expected them to last me 3-6 months, not 3 weeks. This is not so much a faulty pair as a faulty design. The plug is much too tall and provides no yield at the point where the wire comes in, so placing the iPhone in any location where there is not 3 inches of room for the headphone jack and cable will inevitably bend the cable at a right angle from the jack, causing excessive wear.
I would contact Griffin about a replacement pair, but since they will surely have the same design flaw they will probably break in a matter of weeks, as well.

  4. These headphones are cool in a number of ways that are all irrelevant because they sound terrible.

    Good:
-Fit in ears nicely with customizable sizes.
-The fabric-coated cord feels nice to the touch.
-They have a little carrying case I immediately threw away (although some people may use stuff like that)

    Bad:
-You'll need to use Bass Booster to hear any low end in your music at all...
-But you wont be able to because you'll need to use Treble Reducer to avoid headache-inducing, shrill, knife-like sound.

I only purchased these earphones because the ones that came with the Iphone fell apart after a few months. I bought my headphones retail for $40 - a mistake. I wish I could return them, but like underpants and swimsuits - earbud returns are considered unsanitary.

At the current Amazon price (~$20) they are a fair deal, provided you don't care that much about sound quality.

  5. After reading some reviews here at amazon.com I purchased this headset last month and returned them promptly. These were some of the worst headphones I have ever had. I wish I listened to the few reviews that said they were tinny. But I thought there are so many good reviews how could I go wrong.

I just hope this saves some of you from making the same mistake I did.

  1. Initially, I had no issues with the auto-reverse flipping sides with the adapter, but then it started flipping and ejecting the adapter. I followed the modding instructions posted by J. Christofferson on March 27, 2007 and the auto-reverse problem seems to have been solved. Sound-level is excellent on this product and hopefully there won't be any more problems. If I could, I would shange the rating to 3-4 stars.

  2. Good enough for the price, I guess, but yesterday I was surprised to discover a short somewhere in the output jack that kills half of the audio track unless jiggled in exactly the right position. This adapter has lived sedately in my car since I bought it a year & a half ago, so has experienced almost zero wear & tear.

  3. I wish that I have bought Philips cassette adapter from Walmart ($10) before buying this (with shipping $13), Philips adapter worked on my car and my friend's car, whereas this one is not recognized by the tape player

  4. PROS -Excellent sound quality, Dual position jacks, my tape player does not spit it out.

CONS -Sometimes the jack on the end of the ipod makes scratchy noises if barely touched.

  5. This adapter did not work in my car's tape player. My car tape-player has an auto-reverse feature that can not be disabled, so I assume I had the same problem that other reviewers noted. The description of this product should make it very clear that if you cannot disable the auto-reverse, do not buy this! I have since bought a different brand of adapter, and have had no trouble

  1. Regardless of what its chief competitors tout about their respective products, I've been satisfied for many years with the performance of Energizer batteries. They are long-lasting and are priced just right for the thrift-conscious shopper.

They do "keep going and going and going..."

  2. I thought this was a decent, prudent purchase, for it saved and saves me from having to drive to the store. Now of course, I could have searched for cheaper prices, but nothing to me beat Amazon Prime, and I am going to take advantage of it until I am either broke, or my computer stops working...(ha). Thanks Amazon.

  3. Not much to say about the batteries. They are Energizer and the brand certainly meets everyone's expectations. My batteries were received and the date on the package was well in advance, so no complaints here.

However, the price is a bit above average. If you are ordering for convenience fine. But if you want the best deal, you will likely need to go to your local discount store. The local store usually runs about $.70 per battery or less when purchased in bulk (more than 4). At the current Amazon price ($13.95), that comes out to about $.85 per battery.

  1. Good well built product for the price. I mounted a 26" and 32" flat panel and got great results. Seems very sturdy, make sure you have at least 2 screws into the studs. A good range of mounting hardware for different TV vendors. Good value for the price, not worried at all about the TV's stayingup on the wall.

  2. i am happy with the mount. i had a 32inch tv which fits well. It solved my purpose. package and delivery was as expected. easy mounting and it fits the tv well.

  3. I am sure that the TV's it does fit it works just fine but the bracket did NOT accommodate Panasonic TH-42PX80U.

  4. Do not purchase this mount if you have a 40" or larger TV it will not fit as advertised and you will get charged with the postage and a RE-STOCKING fee for your refund ...........

  5. This mount will not work on a Vizio 42" TV. It also includes screws in only one size diameter for mounting the supports to the TV. Check the specs carefully before you buy. It is also small and relatively cheaply made.

  1. They are okay, not too comfortable for wearing for a long time but good value for money. I'm not sure these types of headphones do anything more than cancel out aircraft noise because when used under other continuous background noise scenarios, like with a lawnmower, they seem to block only the same frequency as for aircraft noise.

  2. I bought two pair of these for an oversees flight. The batteries easily last for the 9 hour flight. They were comfortable, not too hot and had good sound dampening cutting out most of the engine noise. They had good range for music and in-flight entertainment. No where near as good as the bose, but for less than 1/3 the price, I'd recommend them to a friend. Folded up easily for storage.

  3. I looked at a variety of active noise cancellation headphones. The BOSE high-end ones were far an away the best in terms of eliminating external sound and sound quality. They are also very expensive and I just couldn't justify the price. I found the Sennheiser's to be the best under $100 so I went with them. They are reasonably comfortable, the sound isn't as bright as I would hope and the external deadening is very obvious but not as great a it should be faced with variations like people talking. If you are price sensitive then they are not a bad pick. If not then move to the next level or be disappointed.

  4. I tried these out in a local HiFi store and found them to be very nice headphones. The sound was quite 'tinny' with the noise-cancelling circuit off, but a very rich and beautiful sound with the circuit engaged.

However, I ended up having to return them. It turns out that the circuit wasn't shielded against 2.4GHz spectrum, and in the office it suffered an incessant humm from the 2.4GHz devices. Most disappointing and I had expected more from a product designed to cancel noise in the office (I had purchased with the intent being to use them in the office, and for travel).

I would buy them again in a flash if they produced a model that was shielded from interference.

  5. I take public transit daily which includes a bus and train ride. These headphones work great to cut out the background noise from both. They are comfortable and sound great for the price. My only hang up are the cords.
