  1. This compact, easy to set up, portable, one-piece unit delivers incredibly good sound. Our 10 year old granddaughter was thrilled. Not the latest model, but the price was fantastic as a result and who cares about the model number anyway!

  2. This is a relatively cheap speaker with good sound quality - perfect for a small room or to bring to trips - particularly hotel rooms and cruises. The AC adaptor comes in different plug options. Included bag for the speaker is also nice. The only downside: volume is pre-set to a certain volume every time u turn it on - and it's way too loud.

  3. The sound is of good quality for compact easy to pack speakers. Nice tone and range. Sufficient volume for an average sized room. Perfect for a hotel, cruise ship cabin or college dorm. I have always liked Altec Lansing speakers and this is no exception. Comes with an excellent well padded travel case. I have owned and used it for almost a year and have no reliability issues.

  4. I really loved these speakers with their cute little bag that had a space for the ipod itself (yes, lame reason, but there it is). They also had such good sound for small speakers, that when they started malfunctioning by making popping cut out sounds with heavy bass, I returned them for a refund and ordered them again from a different seller. Unfortunately, I had the same popping noises happen again within a week, so I had to return them once again. Now I give up despite the cute bag. The manufacturer really needs to work on this major defect if it effected one buyer twice!

  5. I purchased this for my husband for Father's Day 2008. He loves it! He uses it outside in the backyard, camping, on vacations, etc. It is a great little system. It charges your ipod and comes with it's own travel bag. He was amazed at the great sound for such a small unit. Great purchase. Highly recommended.

5 comments about Shure SE420-K Sound Isolating Earphones (Black).
  1. ***Please see updated at the end of the review.****

Recently purchased the SE420s after using the SE310s and the Jays q-Jays. Wanted to try another set of dual driver headphones to compare to the q-Jays and was interested in the comparison between the SE310s.

The SE420s provide as much of the clarity as the SE310s but adds the bass that was missing. With the SE310s, I need to change the EQ to rock to get the sound that I wanted. With the SE420s, I do not need to do this which is a good thing.

Compared to the q-Jays, I feel the SE420s edge them out in terms of quality of sound. The SE420s provide a better sound stage and it's easier to locate instruments while listening to my music. The only downside is that the SE420s are probably 3 times the size of the q-Jays.

Also, the new version of the SE420s that I received came with an extension cable that fits the recessed jack for the Apple iPhone. This was a nice surprise. Shure must be doing this for all of their latest headphone extension cords.

Price was right as I was able to pick up the SE420s for $250 shipped from an eBay reseller of Shure headphones. I thought the $250 was a good deal from the $300+ that you usually see for these headphones.

    ***Updated***
Found an awesome deal on the Shure SE530s ($50 more than what I paid for the SE420s). After careful comparison, I've decided to sell my SE420s and keep the SE530s. For the $50 premium, I feel the SE530s are the better deal. The fit isn't as flush the SE530s, but they are still comfortable to use and the sound is absolutely amazing! If you have the money and keep looking, you can find the SE530s for under $300. The SE530s also came with a new modular cable that works with the iPhone.

  2. I purchased a $5 pair of generic headphones for my trip to Seattle as I had left my Bang and Olufson earbuds in the wash the night before (not the first time, but I one of the drivers was tragically ruined this time around.) Of course I was saddened to be brought back into the world of the common person's music experience. I had raved about the B&O's for so long, and now, they were gone!!! :(

Needless to say, the $5 head phones I bought lasted me an hour; before getting caught on the seat, ripping the wires. While in the DFW airport I went looking for some headphones to rival my B&O's. Low and behold I came across a store with every headphone you could think of. I was like a kid in a candy store. I had no cash in my bank account (student loans ughhh) so I was looking to spend $99. I tried them all and found they couldn't beat my B&O's. So I looked into the more expensive ones, thinking to myself, I can wait and save for a set later and go without for the trip.

I came across the Bose line (all of which I could never recommend to a friend.) So I hit up the Sennheiser and the UE lines and didn't like anything below $1000!!! So I came across the Shure line. I tried them all on. After having about 15 different IEM's in my ears (not just Shures), I came across the 420's and the 530's. While I had no words for the 530's quality I did have a heavy gasp when I heard the price. I wanted them so badly, but the $420's were only $350, and I must say, there was a noticeable difference between the two, but as far as the price to sound quality goes, these IEM's took the cake. The 420's beat out everything I had heard up until the 530's. Having fallen in love with them, I bought them on the spot with my credit card.

Looking back on it, I wish I had bought the 530's instead. I love my 420's, don't get me wrong! But my next pair will be the future equivilant to the 530's. I should look into trading up if they'll let me do that.

  3. I originally purchased some Bose Quiet Comfort 3 earphones, but returned them and bought these instead, and am generally glad that I did. The pure sound quality on these is better than the Bose. The only area where the Bose might be better is if you want to listen to some really loud pounding bass, although the Shure's have good bass in my opinion. I have tried both these and the Bose on airplanes and commuter trains, and I think the noise cancelling of the Bose is only slighter better than the noise deafening that these provide. If you have the Shures on even medium volume, you won't hear any airplane or trains noises. Turned off, the Bose will probably block a little more sound. But these are about 1/20 of the size, and can fit into a small purse if you wanted or in the side pocket of your work bag, while the Bose are huge, both to transport and to wear. That is the real difference in my mind - that, and the pure sound is better with these.

My only complaints are that it really takes some time to learn to fit them just right to your ear. If you don't have them fitted just right, you lose half the sound quality and sound isolation. Sometimes if you jerk your head quickly one of the phones might get pulled a little out, and you have to spend 30 seconds tinkering with it to get the earplug sealed just right again. If not for that, I would give these 5 stars.

  4. I've had the SE420's for about a month now and they are out of this world. I was looking to buy the 530's but just couldn't justify the steep price. I found these babies new online for about $215.00 and words can not describe the pure musicality of these IEM. For all the folks that complain about bass response, this is more user error than a issue with the 420's. Being that I have a Zune, I don't have the luxury of having a EQ, which is fine with me. The 420's give you exactly whats recorded. To quote the 1970's R&B Funk group the Ohio Players "Heaven Must Be Like This".

  5. I gave up on the Bose Quiet Comfort 2 after having 3 pairs break. I had read several positive professional and user reviews regarding Shure earphones and decided to give the SE420 a try. I have used them for about 3 months now in the office and on airplanes, including long-haul flights. The noise blocking is excellent - my co-workers and flight attendant have been super-annoyed because they have difficulty getting my attention when I wear them - the noise isolation is that good. I thought the Shure earphone noise isolation worked better than the Bose QC2 noise-canceling. The sound quality seems better, too, but I'm not enough of an audiophile to comment on the nuances.

The Shure SE420's performance and comfort is dependent on selecting an ear sleeve with good fit and comfort and properly adjusting the position in the ear -- else, the sound quality is rather mediocre. But fitted and adjusted properly, the performance is amazing.

The earphone case is much more compact than the Bose QC2 and I do not have to carry spare batteries with me. Another advantage of the SE420 over the QC2.

The reasons I am not giving the SE420 5 stars are: 1). The extra time it takes to get just the right adjustment for optimal performance and 2). The price is rather high. But, given the opportunity to do it all over again, I would have skipped the Bose QC2 and have gone only with the Shure SE420.

5 comments about Sony SB-V31G Game and Video Selector with 3-Component Functionality.
  1. Solved all the problems I hoped it would. We're able to have the PlayStation, DVD player, & VCR all in one jack. Very easy to set up & use - our 8 & 11 yr. olds mastered it instantly.

  2. Simple to set up, seems to work just fine. It's not a razzle-dazzle product, but a simple solution to what I needed.

  3. The product does exactly what we wanted it to do...change from the DVD player to the Wii and the Xbox. Very Happy

  4. Warning: this unit does NOT come with a video cable to connect the selector to the TV. You will need one.

Selector: Works great, real easy to setup. It is also easy to tell which switch is active. If you have multiple game consuls, I would recommend this unit.

  5. THIS IS THE BEST THING TO HIT MY ENTERTAINMENT CENTER IN YEARS. EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED FOR THE DVD PLAYER, VIDEO GAME SYSTEM, ETC.

5 comments about Case Logic DCB-66 High Zoom Camera Case (Black).
  1. It's is a great little camera case. It's red, so it should be hard to misplace.

  2. Looking for a nice compact camera case for your digital SLR and maybe a flash? Well, the DCB-66 is probably not for you. It's a "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" item, a full sized camera bag somehow miniaturized to a size appropriate for, say, a pocketable zoom camera and a couple of batteries. Imagine a lady's cocktail handbag and that's about the size. The quality and finish is up to Case Logic's usual standards, and it is an elegant - little - thing, but not useful for anything but the smallest of modern cameras.

  3. The bag fits this camera perfectly and also has room for the charger, an extra memory card, and an extra battery. Perfect fit with those 3 items. However, if you want to add anything else this bag will not work for you. I just wanted the basics, and it is very good for that!

  4. Amazon's description indicates that this camera case is 5 x 7.5 x 5 inches.
    It is not.

The exterior measurement is between 4 1/4 and 4 1/2 inches from front to back. The bottom of the case is smaller than the top in all dimensions. The case is about 4 3/4 inches tall. Measuring from side to side, it is about 6 1/4 inches across the bottom and 7 inches at the widest point near the top. The above measurements are taken from the outside, not the inside, and I'm not including the width of the padded flap in front in my measurement, since that doesn't give much idea of the size of the case itself.

    Interior measurements:

Front to back -- about 4 inches. It can bulge slightly since it is a soft case, but getting it to bulge to 4 1/2 inches is really stretching it.

Top to bottom -- about 4 inches at the edges and 4 3/4 inches in the middle.

Side to side -- about 6 inches across the bottom to about 7 inches at the widest part near the top. This is if you remove the dividers, which are held in by velcro. The dividers can be moved anywhere because the velcro adheres to the fabric lining the interior front of the case and the interior back of the case.

I measured my camera very carefully before ordering, and going by the measurements on Amazon's page, there would have been plenty of room. Instead it's a snugger fig for my camera than I expected and it will take some creative rearranging to fit my SD cards and other camera stuff in the case.

There is a pocket on each of the 2 dividers and pockets on the right and left sides inside the case. There are no exterior pockets. The zippers at the sides of the handle on the top of the case allow access to the interior and aren't a pocket.

It's a nice red red -- not an orangey red.

It looks reasonably durable, but some of the seams aren't sewn straight and pull at the corners.

It's a reasonably good case for what Amazon is selling it for. Just be aware it's smaller than what Amazon's description says.

  5. This case looks bigger than it really is, but it has ample room for my camera (Fuji Finepix S8100). It fits just fine with room for cables, memory card and batteries. What appears to be side pockets is an illusion ... you must open the case, exposing the camera to get to anything inside. A small outer pocket for batteries and such would have been nice. Color is not as bright as is appears but all in all, its exactly what I paid for.

  1. it was super cheap and arrived extremely quickly. had it for months now and it works fine. A++++++

  2. These cables to Go 6 ft. usb. work very well with the printer I got for my son. They were delivered when promised.

  3. the cord works fine. No problems. Cord does look old might have been used once before.

  4. This product is exacaly what I wanted. I had visited other websites, local stores and national chains looking for this cable and found them at 4 to 8 times the cost. I am pleased with the product and will order again from this seller.

  5. I chose to buy this item on a hunch in conjunction with two other items. The waiting for arrival was short, but seemingly long only to me. I was anxious to try it out because an ex-employer swears by the equipment in his office. Now I see why; it is easy to maintain, all other affiliated products are reasonably priced, and easy to find. I would definitely recommend this item to all with a five star rating. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase.

  1. I ordered this case for my macbook and its fantastic. It is a beautiful hot pink color but not like the reddish magenta color that they are selling now. Its durable and fits on the mac book perfectly. It protects it well from dust and other damage. This color is hard to come by so its great to find it on amazon. A+++++++++++

  2. Exactly as described, easy to install and attractive. I chose the Clear case for my Black MacBook as to not call attention.

  3. I love my cover! it protects my mac from scratches and dirty surfaces! just snap it on and you're done! does not ruin my mac what so ever! i just throw my mac in my bag and go! i showed it to my sister and she ordered one that night. recommended for the college student (or anyone who travels with their laptop) who wants to protect their $1500 investment

picture is a little deceiving- its really a clear cyan blue not aquamarine.

  4. I ordered yesterday under the promo and was billed wrong amount.
I was billed the wrong price on this order, it is supposed to be 10.99 which should be the amount charged to my account
Protect Your Mac and Save Big on This Hard Case
    List Price: $49.95
    Yesterday's Price: $22.99
    Today's Discount: - $38.96
Gold Box Price: $10.99 (78% off)

Other comments were posted by other customers with the same problem.

  5. This see-thru hard case was a great way to color the wife's laptop pink. The white MacBook just wasn't sufficiently girly and this was a great addition. It was easy to install, reasonably priced and undoubtedly will provide some small amount of protection (Hopefully we will never have the opportunity to test that). The case has slots for ventilation and not ports are covered. This is the way to go if you want to colorize your white MacBook.

  1. I am 99% sure that this is a fake product. Someone got a bunch of salvaged parts and started creating these fake adapters out of them. They sell them for very cheap, so it is more trouble to return them than it is worth. Add a little something about them not working for all video cards and they're off the hook.

  2. Worked for me. Don't blame the adapter. It's your video card that doesn't have the TV output capability. Read the item description!!!!

  3. It works fine depending on the laptop video card. it is not working in one of my laptop.

  4. The image comes through all distorted. Both the RCA and the S-Video signal.

Sorry... it's the truth. Glad I didn't spend too much on it.

  5. Like the others have said, this adapter does not work. I tried it on a Dell laptop that I use for work and have used with projectors before and the adapter did not work.

  1. This is a great product. I was able to fit my huge 17" laptop inside. Since there is no velcro to hold the cover, I don't have to worry about scratching my nice glossy laptop.

  2. I bought this to protect my 17 inch Macbook Pro. It works great. The price was perfect. Far more affordable that other similar products. Was shipped promptly. Highly recommend.

  3. This sleeve is perfect, no zippers, no velcro and my laptop fits perfectly: not to tight and no sliding around inside the sleeve. If you are looking for something to protect your laptop, this is it!!!

  4. The sleeve fit my dell studio 17 laptop and stretched to accommodate the small stand the was connected to my laptop. The sleeve stretches evenly and provides a wonderfully snug fit. If you are thinking that your 17" laptop will not fit you are likely wrong like I was.

  5. First of all this thing fits my 17" widescreen gateway p-7811fx laptop perfectly.

The catch is, it smells bad, like burn plastic or something similar.

Have to wash it several times before the smell go away

Other than that, everything looks great

  1. Excellent addition to our Zen Stone Mp3 players. Great for when a computer USB port is not avail. for charging such as on vacation/traveling. Works great and the price is very affordable. Was delivered on time and without a hitch..keep up the good work. Thanks Rhino

  2. The shipping process was fast...that's why I gave it a star.
However the charger is a piece of junk. I still am trying to charge up the Zen Micro MP3, now going over 24 hours of charging and the battery is still showing low charge... Would not recommend this charger to no one.
I am not even going to waste my time returning it... it's not cost effective.
Shipping cost more to ship back.
