5 comments about 4 Pin to 4 Pin IEEE-1394 Firewire Cable-2 Meters.
  1. Ordered this one after getting screwed over by another vendor on Amazon for the same product. This one is cheap, but works fine. Great and fast service!

  2. What can I say? It's worked good so far. And as another reviewer said, bits are bits. Hooks up to my laptop and my miniDV cam and works just fine. That's all.

  3. Works great and transfers well. I am using it for to connect to my JVC GRD-73US to my laptop. Nevertheless, the one I received was not 2 meters. It was very short. Just a little warning for those who need it to be 2 meters. (It was more like 2 feet, not 2 meters!)

  4. Great price.Seller is trustworthy.Product does what it says.Using it with Sony DCR HC-26 and dell inspiron laptop.

  5. Amazon.com did not allow me to change the shipping. I called immediately to cancel the order, but after hours on the phone and 3 Amazon representatives, they kept repeating the company line "Please contact the seller, we cannot cancel an order, or change an order.." I could not even hardly understand any of the Amazon representatives either and believe me I tried. I think that is by design. Amazon wants you to call the "Seller", but Amazon computers WHERE the seller! Then it's "You're covered A-Z" Except that you don't get the money back for months. I'll never buy Amazon as they stand, again. Mp3 yeah, but nothing they ship. Oh, I also got charged for the same package they didn't ship, twice. Then the cable company gets involved and says for even more shipping charges, they will actually send me what it was I ordered in the first place. NO, don't buy from these guys. It's all a scam.

5 comments about Logitech Harmony 890 Advanced Universal Remote Control.
  1. After repeated installations and removal of software (no easy simple deletion task), never was able to get the software to operate. I have a macbook pro with osx.5. Save yourself a lot of frustration and time by avoiding this product.

  2. 890 works great for a one room one zone unit. For more zones choose the Pro. I own both. Good support.

  3. Wow. Not only was the CD defective, but neither the Mac version or Windows software would successfully update the remote. Looking at the support forums, seems to be a common issue, and people have complained that Logitech has not been very helpful solving the issues.

  4. Just got the Harmony 890 remote a couple of days ago, and it's AWESOME! I upgraded from the Harmony Xbox 360 Remote because of the RF capabilities of the 890, and I must say that it's been great! My home theater is set up so that the components are behind me, and being able to control them all, without having to contort my self to aim the remote behind my back is HEAVENLY!

The only cons that I've experienced with this remote are:

    1. The documentation that comes with the remote is beyond useless. I had to figure out, on my own, how to update the firmware in the RF receiver, as it's not mentioned on the quick set up poster (just so happens you just plug the receiver into a USB port and click "Update Remote". Go figure.)

    2. The trial and error of getting everything to work correctly took a LONG time, and can get frustrating. Updating both the remote AND the receiver when you discover something doesn't work correctly gets REAL tedious when you're initially setting the thing up. When you're done, it's worth it, though!

Other than that, I have no complaints with the remote. No, it doesn't power on or off the PS3, but that's because of Sony deciding to use Bluetooth instead of infrared or RF (like ever OTHER device in the world!) It DOES control the other functions of the PS3, if you use the Nyko Blu Wave Remote PlayStation 3 Blu Wave Remote, which is very cool!

Also, the people complaining about having to use the internet to setup the remote... we should welcome them to 2008! Is it even feasible to expect a remote to operate the MILLIONS of different electronic devices in the marketplace WITHOUT downloading codes from the internet? What about newly released electronics? Should it just "know" all of these codes too? Crazy!

All I'm saying is, if you've got a little time (and a wee amount of patience), then this remote is great! If you're actually sick enough to ENJOY configuring electronic devices to work exactly as you wish (like yours truly!) then you will LOVE it!

  5. The features of this remote are well documented and some are quite good but want to comment on why I chose not to keep this remote.

First, I found the button layout to be very hard to use without looking at the remote. My ideal remote is one that I can use without looking at the buttons. The button shapes and sizes in the Harmony 880 and 890 are too similar and too close together to easily locate by touch. I tried to adapt to it for almost a month before giving up. The key buttons for me are volume, mute, skip forward, fast forward, skip back, play, and pause. When I watch something on Tivo those buttons are the ones I use most. Because of the location and similar shape of those buttons in the 890, I frequently pressed the wrong one unless I looked at the remote.

The second issue I have with the 890 is that one cannot make any changes to the remote without first updating the RF module. Even if one only wants to rename a button, he must first disconnect the RF module from the power supply and all the IR blasters, connect it to his computer and update it. Only then will the Logitech software allow one to update the remote. It is very frustrating to have to go through all that to make simple changes to the remote.

I decided I really did not need an RF remote so I replaced my 890 with the newer Harmony ONE. I am very happy with the Harmony ONE because all the important buttons are centrally located and are of different shapes. The Harmony One is very easy to use without looking at it.

If you really need an RF remote, I recommend you look at the ones made by Universal Remote Control (URC) before buying the 890. If you don't need the RF feature, get a Harmony ONE.

5 comments about Sony RM-VL600 8-Device Universal Learning Remote.
  1. For $25 you can't beat it. It does everything I wanted it to do and then some without all the expense and complicated software that goes a long with one of those Harmony remotes. Those things are just way overpriced and overcomplicated for the average home theater system in my opinion.

It does a great job of programming most common functionality using the different codes based on the devices you have. Anything additional can be programmed by simply pointing the two remotes together and having the remote "learn" whatever button you want. It also has the ability to program up to 4 macros (A, B, C and D) which are what really make this remote worth the money. I have mine set up to turn everything on/off with one button and then a couple other buttons to switch the inputs for DVD/TV/etc.

This remote has made my life with my home theater system a LOT easier. Definitely well worth the money.

  2. This Sony Rm-VL600 Universal Learning Remote is the best remote control I've ever used. It works with VCR/DVD player, TV, and Satellite box. Point it at your old remote and turn it on and it learns to do everything the old remote did. It's amazing. It's nice to be able to control everything with one unit too.

  3. Sony RM-VL600 8-Device Universal Learning Remote

The list for codes included with the product is inadequate. For example there is no code at all for VIZIO TV sets though they are one of the most popular sets on the market. So you have to use the remote to remote learning method. Two problems occur: 1. The code is not learned at all, 2. The code is transmitted but causing multiple unwanted actions.

Emailing Sony did not produce an answer. Calling Sony Support was not helpful either. I was ready to return the product when I found this site:

    http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/rc-sony/list.cgi

It helped solve my problems and now I am on my way to productively use this product that does a lot for a great price.

  4. First a little history:

I have a couple of TV's whose remotes have not been able to survive my children's abuse. Also, I got tired of switching from one remote to turn on the TV, another to play/watch DVD, then my cable, etc.. I saw so many good reviews on this that I bought two, figuring I could return them if I was not happy.

    The Bad:

Okay, so I don't really have anything bad to report. You need to read the instructions and all will be made clear. Also, you need a little patience, not much, but a little.

    The Good:

So, once I read the instructions (I have never used a learning remote before) I was just amazed! At first I was a bit upset because it did not control all of the functions I wanted.....well, a bit more reading (yes, I'm one of those guys) and voila, I was programming the remote with ease and within 5 minutes had ALL of the functions from my cable remote added to this one. I am so thrilled with this remote, I highly recommend it. I really thought I was getting something that would have freed up one control, I never really believed I would only have to use one remote for everything.....well, I believe now.

At first you might find that the code you enter does not completely control the machine as the original remote. No problem, just a couple of buttons, and a few seconds and you can manually "teach" the remote. I have not enountered ANY problems yet (I still have a couple of other things to program, so if I find any, I will let you know). There was no code for my Philips HD/DVR, so this is the one I will have to set up manually. Sure it's a PITA, sure some might knock it down to 4 stars, but when you see how many codes there actually are (and yes there are some Philips codes), then you will see why I did not knock it down. I figure I am just unlucky enough to have bought a DVR that there is no code for. No problem, I suspect I can "teach" my new remote every function within an hour.....I just need to find an extra hour.

If you have read this far and did not buy at least one of these, you are doing yourself an injustice. I can't imagine how much better a more expensive remote would be, but frankly, I have everything I need in this one.

  5. This remote did everything I expected it to do and then some. The learning feature was very cool, tedious but cool. It worked well with most of my components and was seamless in it's set up. Unfortunately I jumped into the universal remote scene expecting it to immediately fix all my multiple remotes problems. After switching the remote form T.V. back to cable back to T.V. over and over again to change the volume i realized that although cumbersome, it is sometimes easier to have multiple dedicated remotes.

5 comments about Bose® QuietComfort® 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® Headphones.
  1. I love my Bose headphones. Makes riding on the train and walking up a very noisy street no problem at all. The roar of busses, cars, sirens and horns was very stressing. I used to arrive at my desk frazzled, bombarded by noise. It has helped so much. Thank you for the fast service. I am a very happy customer.

  2. I compare these to my previous Bose tri port and I wish I did not sell the tri ports. As far as Bose goes this is another good product made by them. The base is not as deep as the tri ports (I think because of the noise cancelation) Noise cancelation seems to work by plugging your ear some how. I feel a slight pressure discomfort when I first put them on. It does go away. The sound cancelation only works for low noises like airplanes and no different with other sounds than the tri port. I feel more secure storing these in baggage or a back pack because of the folding design. For the over all experience I recommend the tri ports unless you spend more than 50% of listening to them on an airplane.

  3. Received the first generation of these a couple of years ago and have generally been pleased with the performance. Have used them for flying and also great hooked up to an MP3 player/FM radio for mowing grass & blowing snow on the tractor. When the ear cushions fell apart I was disappointed to learn that they wanted $35 for a $1 item. As for the headband cushion that had also fallen apart, there is no replacement but I can "trade up" for only $100. They also won't pre-ship the replacement - you must send the old product to them first and do without until they get around to shipping the replacement. Most retailers nowadays will send a replacement first with a pre-printed label for the return so you can re-use the shipping box. I'm disappointed in this level of support for a supposedly premium product. Get with it Bose - you owe your customers more for what you charge. I'll be looking at other brands.

  4. These are extremely comfortable. I have nothing bad to say about them, except perhaps the cost.

The only real con about them is I have to re-organize my music library, because now I hear imperfections in my digital music files I haven't heard before. It's as annoying as a fly in a glass of sparkling champagne. These headphones demand music of great audio quality.

  5. I have heard from friends how much difference it makes to have a set of Noise Canceling Headphones. My flights are 3+ hours or better. I arrive much more rested than I have in the past, add to that, the sound quality you get with Bose and you can't ask for better. I now use the headphones at work to cut down on the noise so that I can really focus on what I need to accomplish. I choose the over the ear style which helps even more than on the ear, also doesn't push directly on the ear itself.Bose® QuietComfort® 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® Headphones

  2. Well, it works just like the one that my XTi originally came with. It's nice to carry a spare around with you just in case.

  3. I am happy that I bought a spare battery for my Cannon. One is always charged and waiting so I never miss out on those great moments!!!

  4. An extra-battery is a must-have for "serious amateurs". I have a Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens for Canon EOS SLR Cameras and it really sucks up the battery. If it wasn't for this backup, I would have been photo-paralyzed a couple of times.
The battery also comes with a plastic protector for the contacts, as the one provided with the camera.

  1. I was going to buy a rolling laptop bag, but found this on sale and got it instead. Made my trip so easy! Plenty of room for my laptop and accessories. Plus tons of padding and pockets. I was able to carry extra books, electronics, etc. Sitting in an airplane seat it fit nicely under the seat in front of me and I was able to get to all my toys during the flight. I have used about 6 other laptop bags during travel, but this was definitely the most comfortable, roomy, and easiest to use.

  2. Even you put heavy stuff in the bag, you put it on your shoulder. It's light. Amazing! I love it.

  3. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I carry too many books around, and I this backpack only has 1 main compartment. You may be able to carry 1 Large size book in it ALONG with the lappie/binder, but this is not the Ideal bag for the college goer like me who has too lug over 9000 kilos of books around. Sturdiness is not an issue, the backpack has build quality way over par, and looks more expensive than it is, the only problem is OK space in the main compartment.

Also, this is great for travelling, or for the average hiker, who needs to carry clothes, ipods, cellphones, keys, you name it.It's VERY comfy. Al the compartments have great organizational structure and features, it's great for travelling and i believe that it will hold up to all kinds of stress and wear. I will definitely buy my next backpack from wenger (if i ever need to)

  4. I just got this bag and when I ordered I was torn between this one and the bigger version of it. It took a while for delivery but, I finally got it today. It is very nice. The material looks and feels very sturdy and there's a lot more room then I thought there was: FYI the laptop area fits my 15.4" laptop (the capability of the screen size to fit this bag was not specified anywhere; and believe me I looked everywhere online). Anyway, there is still room to add a book in the laptop compartment which is the last one (has a lot of padding here). There is another compartment, the middle one, which can fit about 3 folder sized items, and yet another deep compartment in the front with nice zipper/pocket areas. the padding is really comfortable on the straps and the back with "air" circulation noted which I assume is a good thing. Also, note the adjustable straps you see in the picture on each side of the bag; they are extremely useful because when you don't have this bag stuffed with things just tighten it up and it appears to be a smaller bag (which is good for me, since I frequently just carry my laptop). Worth the $35 I paid despite the delayed but free shipping. I think if I would have gotten the bigger version of this bag it would have been too big for my needs. (btw I am replacing a Targus laptop backpack which lasted only about 6 months and now it has a hole that is tearing on a daily basis at the bottom- so if anything I don't recommend targus backpack which I paid $30 for and the material was poor compared to this one and also it is much smaller then this one). This construction feels much stronger and durable then the Targus and I only paid $5 dollars more. Also seems more practical and convenient with the compartments and pockets.

  1. The stands were fine and assembly was very straight forward.

The stand could do better if the the loop for speaker grip in the rear was adjustable. However the sticky pads provided were okay to keep the speaker in place.

  2. Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3ST0MQ9SJIDYC

  3. These stands were just what I was looking for. Reasonably priced, sturdy (on hardwood floors), and my Sony speakers mounted directly to them with the included mounting hardware. I highly recommend them.

  4. I reviewed dozens of speaker stands online and in the store and this one is as good or better than any of the others. Speaker stands are way overpriced, but this pair was very reasonable. They are more sturdy than the other pair I bought a few years ago for $80. I highly recommend them to anyone.

  5. I got the speakers stands for both front and back speakers. I have Kirsch small speakers. The only problem I had is the speakers don't quite fit on the stands and the holes for attachment don't line up. They are not adjustable. I had to inprovise with some velcro to keep the speakers on the stands. I priced other speakers and these were the best for the value. they take up very little space and are unobtrusive.

My major reccomendation is make sure that they will support your speakers without a lot a modification.

5 comments about TDK 4.7GB 16x DVD-R (100-Pack Spindle).
  1. I have been burning DVDs for several years now, totaling over 2500 discs. I have used several different machines; at present I use a Magnavox that I paid $50 for at Wal-Mart. As for the discs, I usually buy whatever is the lowest price. The last 200 I bought were TDKs from Amazon. I paid only $21/100.
It may be hard to believe after reading many of the other reviews here, but my experience has been almost problem free. I doubt if I have lost more than 10 discs in all that time, and most of the failures were my fault. Why others have so many problems and complaints, I do not know and will not even speculate.

Maybe it's just good luck, but whatever the reason, I wish everyone else had the same experience I have had!

  2. Maybe it's the discs, maybe it's my DVD recorder, but about one out of ten of the TDK DVD-R discs ended up with a message "disc error" or "unknown disc" It's not so much the loss of a disc as the two hours it takes to record a movie, just to end up having to record it all over again.

  3. This product was exactly like what you would get in the store but at a much better price!

  4. I have an older Humax TiVo DVR which has the DVD burner inside. Though the Humax leaves a LOT to be desired. .. the TDK DVD's are the only ones that I can use in it and they work 99% of the time. I've tried lots of other brands, and have lots of problems, but TDK almost always works. When you're buying a spindle of 100, it's not impossible that you might have one or two that will give you a problem, but I find that with just about any brand, even on other DVD burners I have. I read somewhere that TDK was about the most compatible brand of blank DVD's that you can get. . . and that's certainly the case for me.

  5. I have finished more than three-quarter of the 100-pack spindle and I have yet to find a coaster. The thing with DVD's or CD's is that when you find a bad one, it seems to be bunched into the same stack as they were manufactured at the same place and at the same time. My recommendation is not to burn DVDs or CDs using the maximum speed, the chance of a bad burn tend to be much much less if you knock it down a bit. Same as filling up the data capacity, 4200mb seems to work best for me as filling up the DVD to the edge may become problematic.

  1. Honestly, there's no difference between this cable and another cable. HDMI is great. FANTASTIC PICTURE QUALITY. You'll never go back to the lame Components or AV 's ever ever ever again.

  2. This HDMI cable is not very good value for money. You can get much better cables at whatever length you want for much less at certain online vendors. Not sure why they market this cable specifically for the PS3, maybe the color scheme?

All in all just get a different cable.

  3. I bought this cable and it did not work at all on my new Samsung LCD. Poor workmanship.

  4. This is not a good choice of cable for anything - I could not get about 720p resolution from connecting it to a PS3 and then when I swaped it for the HDMI I had connected to my DVR, all I got was mostly static - this item was returned! Do not waste your time in buying this.

  5. I have used this cable on multiple HD Tv's & anyone who says they can see a difference is a LIAR! On paper this is better, but I have compared side by side w/ the PS3 standard cables & cannot tell a difference/ I have also done this on multiple different HD TV's

5 comments about Memorex CD/DVD Sleeves Paper with Window Cut-Out & Back Flap (50-Pack).
  1. These CD/DVD sleeves are very sturdy, and serve well the purpose of keeping CDs/DVDs protected. I have used these sleeves, heretofore, and will continue to use them in the future.

  2. These sleeves are just what I needed and work fine.
My only complaint is that I ordered them about a month ago at a price of a little over $3.00 per fifty. This last order they had doubled in price. Could have bought them locally a lot cheaper.

  3. It's just sleeves...and can be no better than sleeves..:) At least, they're in a good quality, a reasonable price, save more spaces and I like the larger than usual window design...PS: The shipping is amazingly fast. I got it the day after it's shipped, and it's only a day after I ordered it.

  4. These CD sleeves are great to hold CD's or DVD's that you are transporting or that you are just keeping around the house. I always have CD's laying around my car or my backpack, so these are a great way to keep them from getting scratched. There isn't much too them --they are what they are. But at a good price on Amazon, they will save on the cost of replacing scratched CD's.

  5. I'm not sure what you'd really want in a cd sleeve. it works, and they're cheap. I got 150 and haven't seen a bad quality one yet.
