  1. This cable is a fantastic value and works great. I run my HDMI cables from a PC, past several surge protectors and a paper shredder without any interference problems. Forget that overpriced Monster junk, get this instead!

5 comments about Zoom V.92 USB External Modem for Windows.
  1. I bought this modem, along with about eight other USB modems, when running a test at work. While the Zoom was functional I was pretty unimpressed with it. All of the other larger modems I tried had status lights on them. This isn't mandatory for most applications, but occasionally it is nice to have.

Basically, this modem just has nothing extra going for it. It's four times the size of the small form-factor modems, and doesn't have the features of some of the other options in this size. My preference would be either the USRobotics modem for the best driver support or any number of much cheaper options (you can get a USB modem for $10-15) that will work fine.

  2. Add problems settiung up server, ZOOM was great helpiong me fig out what i was doing wrong

  3. Um, it's 2008 and we're talking about modems. This is more than sufficient for the user who bought that cheap scanner and wants to use the fax function without ripping open their case to install a modem. No lights, but a few test ATDT dials from hyperterminal and I don't think you'll ever revisit the modem.

For the price I obtained the product for, I am more than happy with the performance.

  4. I added an internal modem to my computer and about a year later it stopped working. Put in a new one and had the same problem. I found out that my motherboard had blown the com ports somehow. My computer shop said I could put in a new motherboard but it would be different so I would have to reinstall everything. The other option was to get a UBS external modem. I just use the modem occasionally for faxing so I wanted the cheapest one that would work. This was cheap and works perfect.

  5. This is a great modem worked with easy with Vista when no internal modem would. Does not take up any internal slots. Also no power supply needed. Going to buy an extra as a standby have had to many issues with internal modems with the wonderful windows xp and Vista OS's.

5 comments about Grado Prestige Series SR60 Headphones.
  1. I bought these headphones about three weeks ago from Amazon. I am extremely impressed with the sound quality-- it's really unbeatable; however, I have some complaints about this product that may apply to you, as well:

    1) They feel "cheap"-- they're made of pretty flimsy plastic, and the ear-foam is definitely not durable (as other reviewers have stated). Given, for the price, I didn't necessarily expect leather.

    2) The sound, like I said is fantastic, but these are definitely not noise-canceling AT ALL. I thought that I would be able to turn them up loud enough to drown out background noise, but this is not the case. Further, when I turn them up, everyone around me can hear word-for-word what I am listening to. I just got back from a trip to Europe, and I felt really self-conscious on the plane while listening to these because they're so loud to everyone around me! You have to keep it at a really low volume for people not to hear, and at this low volume you can hear everything around you (irritating).

    3) One more minor complaint: the cord is really long, which makes the headphones rather cumbersome to listen to around town with an MP3 player.

OVERALL, I would recommend these-- it's a great value and sound, but I kind of wish that I had just bit the financial bullet and purchased some nice noise-canceling headphones.

  2. At first we thought product was defective but upon further examination the iPod we were using has an crappy connector and these headphones work great

  3. Im have not been overly impressed by these headphones. I bought them thinking that they would be a serious upgrade from my previous earbuds (which are more likely to do long term damage to your hearing and those little buggers will NOT stay in your ears). Basically I thought that by buying higer quality headphones I would be doing my ears a favor both safety wise and in respect to the enjoyability factor... ummm not so much. I have been underwhelmed by these headphones. The volume does not go up high enough for my liking and the shape is too bulky (it doesn't travel well). Look I wasn't in it for the fashion (if you want to look hip DON'T by these headphones) but I was expecting some kind of trade off. Im willing to sacrifice style for substance but I found that these headphones had neither. However, I will say that the sound quality of these phones is quite good. Im willing to give them that.

  4. I bought these because my cat chewed through one of the cords of my Sennheiser HD202s. Other than the relatively thin cord, which is pretty much standard these days, I was pleased with the Sennheisers. The Grado cord is more than twice as thick, and to my untrained ear they sound good.

  5. I've spend ten times more on a pair of headphones, but the SR60 combines sterophile sound with striking value. You can always find phones that are better (or more often, inferior), but the SR60 is a wnner:

    The good points:
    - Clear, well-articulated sound with good bass. You can listen to a wide variety of music and rarely feel as if there's some kind of sonic fault.
    - Value. These are the least expensive stereophile headphones available. Their sound compares to phones well over $100.
    - Portability. As with all Grados, the pads rotate so that they're flat in transit. Useful if you're carrying them in a backpack.
    - You can find lots of used units in good condition, if you're willing to look.

    Caveats:
    - There is significant sound leakage. If you're listening at night, or even in a coffee shop, others may be bothered by the excess sound. There's no issue with outside sound leaking in, however.
-The SR60 is, by some standards, rather unattractive - or "retro." It looks not unlike those mid-century radio sets - which is certainly distinctive.
    - Comfort is "okay," but parts of your ears may feel slightly uncomfortable during long listening sessions. The pads rest directly on your ears.

Given sound and value, I doubt the SR60 can be topped. I use them right along side a top of the line pair of AKG phones, and enjoy its sound, perfect for rock.

  1. Liking the 'inked' skullcandies so much, I bought a pair of these when they quit working. Big mistake. Muddy bass ruins the tone completely and they end up sounding like crap, even when you use an equalizer setting to balance it out, they end up sounding like crap. Buy some Sannheiser headphones instead for a bit more.

  2. The only think I gave to say about this product is that it's perfect. The noise reduction feature is better than my big heavy noise reduction headset. I just love it!

  3. Super comfortable! I have never seen an earbud with same design. The silicone (I assume) rings that attach to the earbuds make these fit incredibly well! You get three different size rings to choose from. They really stay put in your ears and don't fall out easily like so many other types out there. And I can wear these for hours without getting that annoying ache in my ears. Plus they really block out the sound since they seal into your ear so well. I love having the volume control on the cord, especially since so many songs are recorded at different levels. The only negative comments I have are that I don't like that the cords for each earbud are different lengths. The left ear is much shorter than the right ear. I also think the rubber coating could be a hair thicker so they wouldn't tangle quite as much. But these are worth dealing with for all the positives!

The comfort and fit is unbeatable, especially for this price.

  4. The color design is quite attractive and fun, and the earbuds are one of the best I've owned. Skullcandy is a good brand, and this product represents them well. No real downsides, the spound quality is awesome and the product on the whole is just very good, and for alot less than other quality earbuds.

  5. These are good earbuds. The bass isn't super strong, but overall sound quality is great for the price. You get what you pay for. If you're looking for unbelievable sound you're going to have to pay a lot more money than you would for these headphones.

  1. I have found Rayovac Alkaline Cells Last about 10% longer and have a slighty higher Starting Voltage than Most Akaline Cells.

  2. I got confused by the title and pictures shown. Are there 12 or 24 batteries out there? If it's the latter, I think it's a good deal, otherwise...

  3. I ordered this item an confirmed: it is two packs of 12 batteries each, for a total of 24 batteries. I though the price was good, and the batteries are not bad alkalines ones.

5 comments about Belkin PureAV AV22300-03 3-Foot HDMI-to-HDMI Audio Video Cable.
  1. I have now purchased multiple cables from the Belkin PureAV line and I am very impressed with the quality of cable. These cables are much better than the below $10 ones in quality but are much cheaper then the ones from Monster and other "Premium" companies. All of the manufacturers make their components in China now, and are only Engineered and Designed in the US. If you are looking for quality AV accessories look at the PureAV stuff from Belkin, they are a great value.

  2. HDMI cables do not work well with Motorola DVR's. They are slow showing the picture when switched on and do not forward the Close Captioned (CC) signal to the TV. That's why the cable company (Time Warner) suggested the use of a component (3-prong) video cable combined with a two prong audio cable, a solution that--according to tests with other equipment--provides equally good quality as an HDMI cable.

  3. I've always had good results with the Belkin name so when I decided to upgrade to HDMI I went with them. The prices are better then what you will find in a brick and mortar store but there are cheaper.

The cable is well made and high quality. I had no problem with picture quality or connection issues when setting everything up and like the feel of the cables.

I had a lot of components to hookup so next purchase I decided to try out a cheaper cable that had good reviews. I ended up getting a few of these, Cables To Go - 40315 - 2M (6.5ft) Velocity HDMI Digital Video Cable (Blue), and was not disappointed. They are flimsier than the Belkins but are still a good quality cable. If you'll never touch the cables again after hooking everything else up go with the Velocity but if you plan to mess with the cables on a regular basis the Belkin might be a better idea for you.

  4. I bought several of these 3' Belkin HDMI patch cables and they all work flawlessly.

I wondered if there was anything to be said for the $200.00 HDMI cables at the big box stores, so I also bought one of those and compared them.

Absolutely no difference in quality. So go with the belkin.

  5. Can't say much else about this. It works well with my new upconvert dvd player and my hdtv. Seems well constructed. I almost bought one of those cheaper $2.00 ones, until I noticed even the good reviews mentioned that they seemed flimsy and often caused sound problems.

5 comments about V-Moda Vibe Duo Earbuds / Headset (iPhone Compatible) - Chrome.
  1. Folks

I am writing as a somewhat disabused customer...

As it turns out I have within the past six months purchased no less that 3 V-Moda Vibe Duo for my iPhone and they all have failed me in short time.

To be honest with the first one I was pretty careless and after two month of intensive use it started to exhibit some hissing / cracking which finally turned into no sound at all. Well, I purchased a second one and after about ONE month of carful use I lost all sound in one of the ear buds... Still in love in what I believe is a great product both in terms of features and sound quality I recently acquired my third headset and this time I have decided to be super super careful. No bending in my pockets, always delicate insertions, well you get it... Much to my dismay it failed me after TWO weeks.

In all cases there is no visual clue of anything being damaged but the internal connectors obviously did not survive my use... I don't know if I'm doing something special or if there is some design weakness but all I can say is that the no-name el-cheapo headset I have used in-between the times I did not have my VibeDuo is still in good shape (obviously no mike, no remote control, poor sound but it WORKS).

So beware - very nice but not durable IMHO

  2. I've had these headphones for awhile. They're pretty good although more expensive than non-iphone noise canceling ear buds. I've had them for just over a year. I was pretty disappointed to see the mic on the cord lacking the pause feature that the free iphone headphones had. Then after about six months the mic stopped working. The covered cord doesn't really do anything to protect against internal wire degradation as now my left ear bud no longer works. I never abused these, they basically went into my bag to go to work and were used in a laptop that I do my programming on. So, $100 for six months of full use, six months of partial use and now they're done for. If these things actually were built to last I would have given them five stars.

  3. I bought one in the Apple Store. Great sounds, no doubt about it. But after a month and a half, the left side wasn't functioning already. I came back to the Apple Store to have them replaced. A month after, the new one wasn't functioning as well.

The Apple Store was kind enough to replace it but they just advised to give me a refund and look for another brand. Obviously, they get a lot of returns. They sound good but they won't last long!

  4. Do not buy this product. I am waiting for my third set to come in the mail. I hve had two sets that have broken. This product is great for the month it works and then you are left with nothing. I need mine for work and it has been a total inconvenience. Thanks v-moda!

  5. After picking up a new iphone 3g decided to replace my 4 yr old Shure E2Cs.

In comparison, the V-Moda's have better audio quality than my Shures (however it didnt block out as much ambient noise as the Shures did)

The V-moda's are able to hit the highs and lows pretty well, much cleaner than the original iphone headphones

  1. Here's what's in the package: earphones, 3 silicone ear plug adapters (small, med, large), foam fish skeleton to wrap cord around, black oval zippered case roughly size of altoid container.

    Pros:
    1) Noise reduction - I tried this at the public pool and it was like all those noisy kids were a mile away (aaaahhhh....), so very nice listening quality
    2) Can use it as hands free device while driving by pulling out one ear bud (only get voice on side w/o answer button)
    3) answer button works great, also hangs up when done
    4) Mic seems fine (so says the people I call) - appropriately located
    5) the case - great place to store the extra plugs and headphones when not in use, it would be a snake-filled nightmare trying to pull that out of a pocket or out of a purse (yes, the cord is that long)

    Cons:
    1) No clip - the last one I had a small clip so I could attach the mic to me, I miss that - no biggie
    2) The cord is way too long - you'll appreciate this if you are 8'2" - I'm 5'2" - half the cord is wrapped around the "fish"
    3) no instructions? I'll admit - the fish caught me off guard for a moment
    4) The fish - it's big, it looks stupid hanging off my headphones - but the cord is too long not to use something (sigh.... 1 star off)

EDIT: It would have been useful to say I am using this w/the iPhone 3G. Despite saying "compatible" and not "made for iPhone" it does NOT bring up the "do you want to switch to airplane mode?" screen, which I was a bit worried about, b/c that would get old fast.

5 comments about Radius Atomic Bass - Headphones ( ear-bud ) - silver.
  1. The sky is still dark when I set out on my morning run, the streets slick and shiny from last night's rain. I stop to stretch, click through my iPod for my running soundtrack, make sure my earphones fit snugly into my ears, then take off. It takes a moment to get into rhythm, to where my feet move by themselves and my arms swing lightly but then I fall into the groove. I am in my element. Me, my music, and the road.

It is usually at about this point in my run, a mile or so down the road, that my left earphone works its way out of my ear and slips down to my shoulder, then dangles and bounces with every step I take. Time to stop, break my stride, and pant while I try to maneuver it back in, wedging it somehow into my ear canal so that maybe, just maybe, it won't fall out for a few more blocks. But somehow, after that first slip, it's all downhill. I've even been on runs where my earbuds fell out so much, I just gave up, yanked them out, and used the fuel of my frustration to power through the rest of the run, angry with every step I took at how much money I wasted on a music device I couldn't even hear. But not this morning. This morning, as I round a corner and catch a glimpse of the sky turning pink, the thumping, thudding, thrashing metal that pumps me up and powers my run still fills my ears. Mile for mile, even into the home stretch as my "triumph song" brings me back, panting, to my front steps, my new Atomic Bass earbuds haven't budged.

I found these earphones completely by accident. After an embarrassing incident where my white iPod earbuds slipped out of my ears in the middle of a run, almost tripped me, and ended up yanked to pieces (I swear it was an accident), I set out on a quest. There had to be some way to listen to music while working out without all the hassle. I tried huge Bose over-ear headphones that delivered awesome sound, but decided the last thing I needed was a pair of earmuffs when I ran in the scorching afternoon sunshine. I tried a pair of Sony earbuds, but when I turned my head too fast, they fell out. Just as I was about to give up try running with an old-school boombox balanced on my shoulder, I caught sight of a small black box at the end of the shelf. Radius Atomic Bass earphones.

At first glance, they certainly looked cooler than my sterile white earbuds, but not just the color was different. The earbuds were shaped more like capsules, twisted inward, as opposed to the dime-shape of regular earbuds. That made sense. The tiny silicon caps looked a lot more secure and comfortable than other earphones, so I decided to try them out. And that has made all the difference.

While I was mainly looking for an earbud that would stay put during my workouts, I found a whole lot more. Radius Atomic Bass headphones actually do deliver breathtaking bass, along with amazing sound clarity for any type of music I tried-- rap and metal for long runs, jazz and soul for riding on the bus, or soothing classical for falling asleep. I really appreciate how the design channels sound directly into your ears, instead of letting it drift outward. That way I can blast my tunes as loudly as I want without receiving disapproving glares from fellow commuters or treadmill trotters. My running shoes have black stripes, so I bought my first pair of Atomic Bass earbuds in black, but since I also listen to music on the subway, and have a silver nano, I bought a silver pair on amazon to match. And you know, I was always fond of green....

  2. First off, the construction quality of this product is excellent and the sound quality is very good. I bought them based almost exclusively on the prior review (there was only one a the time) extolling their use while engaged in exercise, etc. I have small ear canals and have not had any success in finding earbuds that stayed put for more than a few minutes, especially while cycling or doing yard work. While these are better than others I've tried, they still do work loose, they just stay put for longer than any others I've ever had. If you have "normal" ears, I'd expect you'd love this product. I don't regret buying them.

ADDENDUM (07/05/2008): The left earbud stopped working on this product after less than a week's use, in the course of normal operation. Given the price of this product, it's hard to recommend them to anyone.

  3. My 10 year old son and I both found the ear buds that came with our ipods too large for our ears. Keeping those bulky buds in place was difficult even when being sedentary, and who has time for that! I purchased 2 pair of the Radius Atomic Bass ear buds and couldn't be happier with the upgrade in comfort and sound quality. Fitting comfortably in your ear, these earbuds allow you to enjoy your music at length without your ear feeling bruised and abused. The proper fit also allows me to listen to music while mowing the lawn.

  4. I've lived 61 years without knowing that I had small ears--but walking with my iPod Shuffle was so NEAR to a joy--but so FAR because of falling ear buds and discomfort. The frustration is over. These are a perfect solution for me--a great fit without any frustrations. And the sound is amazing. I listen to Bible readings that are set with the sounds that would have been around--sometimes I glance to the side while I'm walking, expecting to see the sheep or rooster I heard. I love it.

  5. The earphones sound very good and I have no problem with that. My problem is that I didn't know that one wire was going to be shorter than the other one. I guess this is fine if you put your shuffle on your sleeve, but I clip my shuffle to my front pocket. I wish that the specifications would have told me of the different lengths of cable for the left and right ears. I am used to having both cables the same and I like it that way. If they had disclosed this in the advertisement, I would not have ordered.

  1. A lot of work went into puting work on an inexpensive floppy disc and it did not perform, so all of the work was lost and had to be done over. This product has been a never fail disc that I can rely on.

  2. In spite of the forcasted demise of the floppy drive, there are still too many uses for a floppy disk to do without. Try installing a RAID system without one sometime! These disks are what I needed.

  3. I received the Sony floppy disks in a very timely manner. Thank you.
For every leading edge, there has to be a trailing edge. That's why I
bought the disks and two floppy disk drives. Besides, the banks still use electronic typewriters since the computers cannot handle their unitary/proprietary forms. The local typewriter repair companies are
    doing well handling this need.
