5 comments about Sony RM-V310 Universal Remote Control.
  1. I have had a number of multi-brand remotes, some even cheaper than this one, and this is the worst. It suggests it can do much more than it can. Not only can it not program my VCR, it would not even allow me to change channels by entering the channel number. I had to go through each one. Control of my audio components was horrible. It would do some things, but not other more important ones. I tried all suggested codes for my devices, and went through the instructions exhaustively, but nothing helped. Also, there is no backlighting. This may work OK for some brands, but not for my major brand components. The only thing it worked well for was its own brand, Sony. You can do much better with practically any other cheap remote.

  2. I purchased this remote to replace my lost Sony DVD remote control and to consolidate all my remote controls to one. It works with my DVD player and Sharp TV. I thought I could use it for my Direct TV/TIVO satellite receiver/DVR combo. There was no code available for any satellite receiver/DVR combo. I still have to use 2 remote controls. Had I known, I would not have purchased this remote.

  3. If you are using a Comcast cable box, forget this product. It doesn't work.

  4. I have all name brand electronics... all of which were listed in the code number listing for this remote. Panasonic plasma TV, Panasonic audio receiver, Philips DVD Player, and Scientific Atlanta digital cable box. This remote wouldn't operate a single function on ANY of them. Wouldn't even power them on/off. Before you go assuming I just don't know what I'm doing, I've programmed several such remotes, and done extensive work with home, car, and office electronics. I ended up getting a philips remote for much less that controlled all of them with no problem at all.

  5. My biggest complaint is the twinview button. It will get me into that mode, but there is no button to switch it off!!! I tried turning off the tv to get rid of twinview, nope. I tried going into the menu and looked for a reset function, nope. Maybe if I unplugged it and let it sit for awhile? Luckily I have the original remote, otherwise there doesn't seem to be a way to switch it off the twinview without it.

Sony's implementation is terrible. They could have made a twinview on/off toggle button rather than having a dedicated off button on the original remote. This would have save them the cost of needing a dedicated "off" button---Actually, it might be a "regular view" button---well, they did save the cost of not having it on this remote and screwing those of us that need this button.

So,my best option is to get a remote that has a learning/programable feature so that I can waste a button to make a dedicated button to button off the twinview button.

5 comments about Tripp Lite P132-000 DVI to HDMI Gold Adapter - DVI F to HDMI-M.
  1. This is my first time writing a review about anything! I'll make it short and sweet. This piece was great. It did everything it was supposed to. The only downside to this is that with the adapter and the plug already being so big, it sticks out quite a bit. It would be way better to get the cable that has hdmi on one side and dvi on the other. Nothing wrong with this product at all, though. works perfectly!

  2. If you are using this to go from DVI from a computer or something into a flat screen TV, it may not work for you. I had to purchase an HDMI extension cable in order to make it work. The reason is that many TV's these days have the connections recessed up into the body, and this connector, combined with another DVI connector, makes it too long to fit in the recess. Other than that, it's a great product and works as advertised. Seems very well made and sturdy.

  3. works great. I use it to allow my belkin flip switch to work with my hp hmdi laptop. and it works awesome

  4. I use this adapter with my Playstation 3. I thought that the adapter might block the LAN port (which is right next to the HDMI port on the PS3), but this is not the case. Needless to say, the picture quality is great.

  5. After buying this adapter I realized I should have just bought an DVI to HDMI cord. The adpater works and feels pretty solid but I have had issues using it in the back of a few TVs. When attached to a DVI cord it is just a little long. I did find it very useful connecting an XBOX 360 to my monitor but I had to take apart the XBOX's component connector in order to make both fit. (I needed it for the audio)

5 comments about Terk HD-TVS Slim Profile Outdoor HDtv Antenna.
  1. I received the antenna from Amazon in very good time. I mounted the antenna using the supplied mast on the side of my home about 15' high. I pointed the antenna towards the broadcast towers which are about 35 miles from my home. I could only receive one station, which was a disapointment. So, I would try one more location before giving up on this small antenna. I then mounted it on the very top of the roof with a 15 degree tilt up. To my surprise, my signal meter on my tv jumped up to around 85% for six HD stations. Please take some time for proper location and you will be very happy you did. Also, very easy to mount.

  2. It works as it is designed to be. Once it is mounted outdoor, it works well. The only problem I experienced is that when the wind is blowing, the reception becomes spotty. Maybe this problem is caused by some big trees in my backyard. Interestingly, the problem only occurs on digital HD channels, not on regular analog channels.
If you use it as indoor antenna, the reception is not as good as outdoor.

  3. Check the dimensions...I didn't realize it was as large as it is. Very clean looking design. I do get a few more local digital channels...but I'm wouldn't pay this much again. It is just an antenna.

  4. I just got this antenna hooked up and now have several more channels than my old rabbit ears. And the reception alone is worth the investment. The picture is amazing on my Optoma projector. I also picked up the Samsung DTBH260F HDTV Terrestrial Receiver, since my projector doesn't have a tuner built in. What a great combo! All of my components are tied into my Harmony remote and work perfectly. It did take me a minute to get any signal at all on the antenna, until I realized the problem. I used my old Dish satellite mount, took off the dish and mounted the antenna to the same setup (the antenna is fairly lightweight). I plugged the RG6 cable into the antenna and the receiver...nothing. Then I realized that the cable coming from the former dish goes through a splitter with two inputs...one for the satellite signal and one for the antenna. I switched the cable to the antenna input and viola! I had the best reception by pointing the antenna straight up to the sky (not pointing it directly at the towers), then finding the strongest signal by rotating it around toward the north. It looks kind of strange having an antenna pointed straight up, but it works. The design is a lot more pleasant to look at than the old dish or one of those gangly christmas tree antennas, and it is outside so no more rabbit ears in the house (so tacky). This is a great solution for those who are looking for something aesthetically pleasing with good reception. It was easy to hook up (at least for someone who is replacing their old dish with the wires already run) and the neighbors won't have their view obstructed by an outdated monstrosity of an antenna.

  5. We are 30+ miles from most of the TV stations in the Atlanta area and we are in the process of changing from Analog to Digital reception for all TV's in our house. We had two old standard external (inexpensive) antenna's installed in our attic that we had not used for a few years. We purchased the Terk HD-TVS antenna specifically to move to DTV reception. Our neighborhood has a covenant restriction against external antennas but because the HD TVS looks like a dish, we thought that it would be the perfect solution. We received the product and connected it outside before mounting it permanently and the reception was awful. Only the closest stations worked at all. The signal strength was very very low. We connected both of our old antennas just to see what would happen and to our surprise, both of the standard external (inexpensive) antennas mounted in our attic receives all of the local DTV broadcasts. The reception strength is very high on the closest channels and low for the channels at the greatest distance but all of the channels work. The Terk HD-TVS was much worse than the standard external (inexpensive) antenna so we returned it.

5 comments about Case Logic Nylon CDW208-Disc Wallet (Holds 208 CD/DVD).
  1. I'm getting another one for my step-son. Got the CD holder for holding my Church Services CD's.

  2. The older version of this cd case was much sturdier in it's construction and also had a removeable 16 DVD/CD visor wallet that snapped in the front with a little case logic tag on it . Now they re-manifactured it to save a few bucks and screw you over for the same price. My bet is they'll claim that it was a needed step in the evolution of the product because of higher gas prices so they had to cut back somewhere but didn't want to fire any employees so they cut back on quality...B.S. ...Greedy ... Feels like they smacked you in the face and said pay for it. It's not Amazon's fault that case logic has money problems, so don't take it out on them because case logic wants to screw you over for a couple of bucks instead of just charging a little more to maintain quality. I'd rather pay 3$ to 5$ dollars more than sacrifice quality. If your new to case logic than it's a great product, if not then you know what your missing out on in design and construction. Complain at case logic's home web site which you can probably google ... I'm not posting the link because I want people to get to read this and complain at case logics homepage in hopes of an improvement.

  3. Exactly what I was looking for: a decent quality wallet to carry CDs and DVDs. There's nothing extraordinarily great about it, but no shortcomings either. Fairly good value for the price I paid ($28).

  4. My 22 year old son has more CD's than he knows what to do with, and this is a great solution to his clutter problem. He likes it so well, I am going to save enough points to order him another one for his movies. Thanks Pepsi for another great product!

  5. This is a good case for the cheaper-end spectrum of cases. As long as you don't expect it to go into battle with you and back again, it will serve it's pupose!

5 comments about Tripp Lite N031-050 Cat5e RJ45 Modular Connector, Stranded - 50 Pack.
  1. I have been using the cables I made with these for a couple weeks now and they are all doing great. When I received them they shipped in a small envelope which protected them without adding unneeded shipping costs.

  2. What can I say about RJ45 connectors except they worked! And the price was right. I will definitely buy more here next time.

  3. I'm using these after going through a box of Ideal RJ-45 connectors. These Tripp Lite connectors feel just as durable and look like they won't corrode. My big test is after I crimp a twisted pair cable end, I like to pull the tab up. So I get a click when I plug the cable terminal into an ethernet port. I've had instances in the past where the tab will break when I pull it up. So far I haven't had any Tripp Lite break on me yet. So that is saying something good about the durability.

  4. Excellent quality I'll probably order these again, but I'd like to see them a little cheaper. They're a good price if you're buying locally, but this is online. Other than that, no complaints whatsoever.

  5. I bought these at the same time I bought my first crimper, so I was a bit skeptical on how the whole process worked. In the end, I found these connectors to be great. They always grasped the wire firmly and crimped on with ease. I will certainly buy these connectors in the future whenever I need to make more CAT5 cables.

  1. Fits the classic or the nano and it works. It stays on tight enough while i'm walking and easy to take off. You can change the song just fine and its cheaper than going to Target or the mac store to get one.

  2. Ok for the average runner and or jogger. Not really great to use at the gym though. The holder moves around too much not keeping the ipod stationary.

  3. This product is terrible. The iPod stays in the flexible pouch fine, but the material the pouch is made from is too flexible and the armband is only held on by a small and narrow piece of bungee fabric. This results in the iPod swaying all over the place because the band does not have a wide enough stance and the pouch material is too flexy. That in turn resulted in the stitching coming apart because it moved around so much. All in all, I give it a poor review. It's fine if you don't move around much (fine if you're lifting weights), but it's terrible for running. I can't even wear it around my arm anymore because of all the jostling, which means I don't wear it at all and I wasted $20.

  4. Quickly delivered. Could have been more description of the product on Amazon, but overall I was very statisfied.

  5. This is for an older I Pod. It is thicker than the newer ones. It is great for holding the IPod during a work out.

5 comments about Monster Standard 100 Instrument Cable 12 ft. - straight 1/4 plugs S100-I-12.
  1. Monster is the best cable ever.

  2. This is a well made, well designed cable. It looks like it'll hold up well.

  3. Monster is known for good quality cables but also for being pretty expensive, so I was suprised to see that these cables were only running $20 for 12 ft. and $25 for 21 ft.

I didn't bother looking at them at Guitar Center as I just thought, I'm sure they're nice but I won't even bother looking at the price. The sales rep recommended them when I asked about some quality cables and told me about their lifetime guarantee. I'm tired of cables going on the fuzz and having to buy new ones only 2-3 yrs. after purchase so after seeing the price, I went for it.

End result, they work perfectly. I was having some buzz and noise from my older cables but that's all gone now. The Monster cable sounds clean and clear. No more background interference.

If you'll notice from the picture, Monster wisely chose to cover the bottom of the plug with a nice rubber cover. No more of those metal covers that unscrew, allowing dirt and dust to get in there. Those things caused alot of trouble for me over the years and I'm glad to not have to mess around with them anymore. The blue stripe is one of a few different color bands, which are included, that you can use to color code your cables with. So you can color each one for each purpose. Good feature.

I like this cable and it's good to know that it'll be replaced for free forever under normal use and wear and tear. I've stayed away from Monster for home theater as their audio/video cables are outrageously over priced. But for playing guitar, I think I have my new brand. Recommended.

  4. Fast shipping, perfect condition. Picture shows 1 end 90 degrees and one end straight. It is actually straight on both ends.

  5. Monster lives up to their reputation; great performance.
The service and packaging were exceptional.

  1. Well... I purchased this item to replace RCA-to-eighgth" that I used to have, but had to canabalise.

I'm pleased with this product (and the seller I bought it from who shipped at lightning speed) but mainly because of it's length, which is a good bit longer than my last one. I use this item soley to transfer songs from my four-track onto my computer. It does the job well.
