4 comments about Memorex 80 Minute CD-RW 4x-12x High Speed 25 Pack Spindle.
  1. Product was new as described, Excellent High Speed Media. The seller was quick and reasonably priced. Excellent product and supplier.

  2. Lives up to description. Have used over half, and have never had a bad experience. Worth the cost.

  3. I bought this 25-pack to back up my iTunes library.

    Pro:
-Burned roughly 40 songs per minute... wow that's fast (in under 2 hours we burned all 8.65 days worth of our music)
-Read-write capable (at speeds up to 12x)
-13 discs held 2165 songs, and since this was a 25-pack, we still have 12 left
-No problems with writing, no chipped, scratched, cracked or otherwise defective discs
-Comes with a holder and a cover that twists and "locks"
-Case could hold what I estimate is another 8 discs or 33 total if you remove the foam spacer and clear CD-shaped protector
-Minimal packaging waste to deal with and easy to open, no act of congress to open
-Very good price and even better value
-"Sharpie" ink pen writes on surface ok

    Con:
-Disc graphics are annoying, no significant clear space/area to write... surface covered with small "silver squares" that dot almost the entire surface

    Neutral:
-Top is clear #5 plastic (base is black #5 plastic), good for seeing inside, bad for letting in UV light (hence the nuetral)
-Scratch resistance is unknown. We burned our discs and then packed them away.

Bottom line: Highly recommended. Have had no issues, discs appear to perform as expected.

  4. For whatever reason, these don't work on my iMac (dual intel core), using OS 10.4.11. They don't appear on the desktop at all. When viewed through Disk Utility, I'm told that they are "readable" only, & that I can't write to them. When inserting one of these CDs, iTunes is opened automatically (that's not a problem), but when burning music to them & re-inserting the CD later, the CD again does not appear on the desktop, & the CD is no longer recognizable by iTunes! I have other types of Memorex CDs (CD-R type) & they work fine with my computer, but not these. Be wary of them if you have a similar iMac. They might work for you, & they might not! I'm now looking for a CD-RW that works with my computer.

5 comments about Kensington 33199 Digital FM Transmitter and Auto Charger for iPod (Black).
  1. This is the best FM transmitter I've ever used, but after I upgraded to the new iPhone 3G the unit only works as a transmitter. The iPhone 3G displays a message saying this unit will not charge the iphone. The old iPhone worked fine with the unit.

  2. I have had this FM transmitter for about a month now and I really like it. The sound quality is not crystal clear all the time, every once in a while I get a little static, but it is never bad static, and it never lasts long.

One of the greatest features for me is the iPod charger plug, because I never have to worry about having a dead iPod, when I turn the car off it turns the iPod off and I don't have to fiddle with the iPod volume to make the sound quality good(changing the iPod volume does nothing).

I would recommend this to anyone without a tape deck or aux input who has an iPod.

  3. Okay, so I've had this product for over 2 years now, and it just recently started to go bad, it randomly switches which side of the car it plays on. But I am very pleased with this product over all. I go to college out of state so with the combination of driving to school and all the other driving I do, this unit is pretty much in constant use. It works well for me living in a metro area, and through all the country roads I use as well. I also love it on my road trips as it is so easy to quickly change the radio station as I am driving though different parts of the country.

Obviously when purchasing an FM transmitter you have to remember that you are using the last resort for playing outside devices on your stereo. For me this was my only option as I have a custom car stereo with no tape deck and no bluetooth input, to my knowledge anyway. So I went though several FM transmitters before this one. including the ones that just plugged into the ipod without using the dc power outlet in my car, to other ones like the Kensington, with no good results. I gave up looking for one as I figured they where all the same. Until one day my dad brought me home this one and said that the worker at the electronics store had recommended it. So of course I tried it, and it hasn't left my car since!!!! It plays with near perfect quality all the time! This is an amazing product, and I am writing this review after 2 years because I have returned to buy another one!

  4. I thought it was great when I first got it, the ease of having to push a button and it moves to another set station if it starts to get static. It worked great up until the past couple of months. The charger piece where you plug it into your ipod has been very finicky and the sound cuts out if the wire is moved or touched the wrong way. I am looking for a new adaptor. I think I paid around $50, and it has lasted me one year. Buy it if you want, but beware that the wire may give out after a little while and you may have to cradle it in your lap as you drive to be able to listen to your music without it getting cut out and sound like the singer is in a cave!

  5. I do not recommend this product. This will be good if your car is not moving.Otherwise you will hear only buzzing sound..

5 comments about Skullcandy Hesh Headphones Black/Red.
  1. These headphones are awesome what more can I say. After a little research I decided on these and they are worth the money. The first thing you notice is how good they sound and how much outside noise they cancel. They have a nice rich sound, good distinct highs and nice low and mid range response. They also are pretty comfortable, after a bit of adjusting they fit well, also cover the ear well, mine are pretty big and the fit is awesome. When at the store compared with a pair of Bose and they are very similar. If you are in the market don't think just get HESH you won't be disappointed they are candy for your skull.

  2. If you would consider yourself an audiophile and/or have owned a pair of Bose headphones, avoid these! I owned a pair of Bose Triports that broke and bought these hoping they would be a tolerable replacement for the money. Big mistake! I know I shouldn't have expected any comparison, as these are only 50 bucks, but they have raving reviews and some have even compared them to Bose. If all you care about is loudness, these are for you, as they are very loud, perhaps louder than Bose. Loudness does not equal quality or clarity, however. The frequency range on these headphones sucks! It starts at 100hz, so any frequency below that is cut out. You are missing a lot. They are also uncomfortable as others have said and hurt your ears after awhile. You can wear Bose for days and never be uncomfortable. I can also vacuum wearing Bose and not hear it. Not so with these. Those of you who think you are getting great quality at a low price are mistaken. It is well worth the $125(sale price)-$140(reg price) for Bose quality, which is something you won't find in these cheap headphones. If you want perfect sound quality, perfect comfort, and excellent noise canceling, put these back on the rack, save up some more money and spring for the Bose. I ended up returning these, sending my broken Triports (which are out of warranty) back to Bose, and they are sending me a brand new pair for only $60 bucks! ( only $10 more than these!) Trust me, if you're an audiophile, these headphones suck!

  3. being the audiophile i am, i'm looking for something that sounds great but also affordable being on a very tight budget. I was recommended skullcandy a few years ago which were said to be a quality product. i usually used their smokin' buds which had excellent sound for its ten dollar price tag, but eventually a few months down the road one bud would quit on me. however, i picked this product up just a few months ago imagining that i'm paying for even better sound and quality. However, the sound quality was rather sub-par, even inferior to their smokin' buds. it mellows out the sound erasing the dynamics to deliver the most inferior sound your fifty dollar can buy. After my dog took the courtesy of chewing them up, i had the opportunity to take it apart to reveal their construction. Honestly, these headphones aren't worth 50 dollars; most of what we're paying is bulk plastic for a mediocre sound with the same quality as their 10 dollar buds. save the fifty for a better pair of headphones or perhaps a concert ticket to hear the real deal. needless to say, i've been looking to other brands for audio needs.

  4. Let's start out with the big pro to these phones: They look nifty, and shiny too. The big, bulky, monster cups have a charming retro appeal, and the shiny silver skull on simple black background design is satisfying on some slightly ridiculous level to, well, probably everyone. Another slightly useful feature is the cord, which comes with a free extension so you can customize the cord length to either ridiculously short, or average.

On to the cons; the sound here is really only decent. The bass is nice enough, although a bit fake-sounding, the mids and highs are muddy but better than a standard pair of 20 dollar headphones; notice that I didn't say 30 dollar headphones. The sound leakage is also a lot more than I would expect from its circumaural design; these phones are absolutely not for mass transit use. However, it's the comfort level of these phones where they fall well below the average mark for their price; the phones pinch your ears and form a vacuum-tight seal around the general area of the sides of your head. Using these phones while exercising is a great way to make your ears and head incredibly hot, red, and uncomfortable. Using these phones at a computer is also next to impossible, as after half hour or so it feels like the edges of your ears are beginning to implode from the cramping and suction.

I got these phones at a pretty decent sale price and I would still say I didn't get my money's worth; all in all I wouldn't recommend buying them at any price over 20 dollars. Sennheiser or Grado Labs headphones at this price blow these things away in every respect, except, perhaps, nifty-skull-lookingness.

  5. I'm not like a professional or sound engineer or anything... :P
... but I really like these headphones! The sound quality is great and the Bass is incredible... I've been through like a handfull of headphones, and these are the best buy yet! Very powerfull sound! Impressive...
I wouldn't shed out 50 bones for them, but you can get them at a really good price of >> $35 << if you get them from RCS Experience through Amazon.

5 comments about 8-DEVICE Learning Upgradeable Universal Remote.
  1. This remote is perfect for me. I only really needed it for my TV because the one I had was starting to go bad (sometimes the buttons would work and sometimes not). It's cheap and works very well. Plus, it has an attractive design compared to many other remotes.

  2. for the price, it is a good purchase, would recommend for anyone that wants a reasonabile remote that learns !!!!

  3. I got the 10 device before the 8 device and must say I am impressed with both of them. It was programmed with ease. Learning of the remote is such a nice feature. I would recommend this to anyone that needs a good universal remote. Great thing is that it works with Dishnet as well as Directv . Having had Directv it was hard to find a universal remote that would work but this one did the job. The 8 device is much more comfortable in the hand then the 10 device which seemed a little big for comfort.

  4. I have been using this remote for over a year, and have been happy with it. Good flexibility, great price! Now I have just gotten a few new components in my home entertainment system, and so I need to get the new codes for those items. Those codes are nowhere to be found, and the support websites of the company are either badly out-dated or not working at all. They do not provide any support phone number at all, and their e-mail support seems to be down as well. Unless this is a temporary problem that they are fixing, this looks like a company that is going out of business. I advise: check for current support availability before buying from "One For All".

  5. I wanted this remote to work with my Kenwood stereo, it worked with the TV just fine but it wouldn't for the stereo.

  1. The price I paid for this spindle of CD-R's was pretty good and have not had a problem yet. The only price that I have seen that beats this one was Staples running a sale of 50 for $10, but I have yet to use the stock that I bought as I still have about 25 left on the spindle. If you don't want to wait for their sale, this is an excellent bargain. The print surface has done very well with the inks from my Epson Photo R-220.

  2. The 16 discs I've burned & printed so far all worked very well, no problems at all. And, they have a white printable area, which gives much nicer results than the silver-printable variety.

These have standard (40mm) non-printable centers. Had I given it more thought, I'd have ordered "hub-printable" discs instead, which have smaller (20mm) non-printable centers and permit the creation of nicer, more professional-looking labels. Of course, I don't know whether such discs would be as reliable as the Maxells or show the printing as well as these do.

  3. I've printed and burned a spindle with no coasters. You can print all the way to the inner hub (my replicator is set for a 25mm hub) and it works aces. Great product.

5 comments about DVD Refill Pages, Capacity 20.
  1. After much research I settled on the Case Logic DVD Wallet (140 Capacity) and refill pages to add to the capacity. The price was way less expensive then any others on the market and I am thrilled with the quality and ease of use (it even stands up to my 2 year old's flipping through)...I highly recommend this line for anyone looking to organize and/or save space with their DVD collection.

  2. I agree that this is the best DVD refill page I have seen available. They fit two different types of bindings; the band-type and also the standard 3-ring. However, I was fooled into thinking there were 10 refill pages in the package. Would that be too much to ask at this price? Apparently so because there are only 5 pages in this package. That makes room for 10 title notes and 20 discs. I still can't figure out why the DVD storge cases cost more than the CD cases do. Binders are still the best way to go if you have a ton of DVDs, for sure, if not the most economical. -1 star for price.

  3. It is impossible to find these pages anywhere other than Amazon and they are a lifesaver as far as organization goes. Some DVD pages aren't big enough to hold everything properly but these are the right size and good quality. I'm glad I could find them on here.

  4. Ok - I only get 5 pages for $11.99. My DVB80 came with 20 pages to start with - and the album for $29.99. So - if I wanted 20 pages to use in my many albums - then it would cost me $47.96 (4 x $11.99 refill cost)!!!!

I could purchase 2 NEW DVB80 albums for $59.98, get 40 refill pages and get 2 binders to use for other purposes!!!

Does Case Logic think it's customers are idiots???

  5. This is a terrific product. I'm still working on sorting all of my DVDs into this format, and will definitely need another filler to make it work. The DVD is well protected in the sleeve and there's a great place to see the filler notes/cover page, making it a quick way to find things. Once I'm done, it will really steamline my entertainment area, and allow me to find things quickly. And, this makes it easier when we travel to pull out our collection for the kids to go!

5 comments about Corel Painter X Win/Mac.
  1. This product is the best graphic program ever. It works great in my operating system VISTA. The only limitations of Corel Painter X is the artists creativity.

  2. I must admit I do love PS better, but once you learn the program it is really great! The different tools available are excellent.

  3. I guess if you can get Painter X to work when installed it is a good product. If you can't (Vista, 8 Gig memory, 2T disk, Cintiq21), you have to pay for support by the call (for education version which is same base program w/o some of the bells and whistles). I kept trying and got it installed and working but pallettes would not move out of center of screen or dock anywhere but the center. Any attempt to change brush size/characteristics abended program. I am glad I was EDUCATED about Corel before buying the full price version.

  4. This incredible software can do digitally any art media. Immense variety of brushes and tools from pastels to inks and all kinds of textured canvases make any former hands on art media methods a thing of the past.

I have always liked to draw and paint, when I installed Painter X I started dabbling and tinkering, not knowing anything at all and was able -- after about 35 minutes -- to replicate a favorite Maynard Dixon western painting. You can see it in the image gallery.

The huge options and abilities of Painter X are covered nicely in the product description.

I am especially interested in creating animation cells using sequential photos that I have enhanced with detailed art and then putting them into iMovie of Final Cut Express on my Mac laptop.

So far, the painting and airbrushing and pen & ink enhancements are dazzling using Painter X. I have barely tapped into the power and potential of this software and am looking forward to expanding this review and posting additional paintings in the image gallery.

Currently I am using a Wacom tablet with about a 4x5 drawing area. I plan to get a larger tablet or a laptop monitior on which I can draw directly.

I am not aware of any software for the price that comes close to what can be done with Painter X.

    Highest recommendation.

  5. I'm a Photoshop user but had read so many great reviews and tried the trial version of PainterIX and just had to buy this. I'm very happy with it. For me it was a very quick learning curve from PS to Painter. Painter is much more "painterly" than PS and the brushes and paints really do react very much like the real deal. Coming from studio painting using acrylics for my underpainting and oils on top I found that Corels' oil pastels actually gave me a very similar look and feel once I learned how to tweak the brushes to my liking. In my opinion the most important things to learn to really get what you want from Painter are learning how to adjust the brushes to your liking, learning to use "papers" as textures instead of the brushes as textures (that's how PS works), and getting used to the color wheel. But I found the color wheel indispensable once I got used to it. I actually found myself wishing I had the color wheel in PS when working in it.
Oh yeah, and if you don't have a tablet yet, I suggest the wacom intuos3 6x11. IN FACT, you may want to check on Corel's website. They almost always have a bundle deal where you can buy Painter and get a Wacom tablet at a discounted price instead of buying them separately (sorry Amazon...maybe Amazon has a bundle price too though...?).
I can't even imagine trying to use this software with a mouse. Spend the extra little bit to get the cd version of the software. It comes with a great book that covers a lot of Painters features, including their new "real bristle" technology, as well as some goodies on the cd.

Overall if you're looking for a more "painterly" end product I think Painter is the way to go. You may also want to look on [...] for some great dvd tutorials on using Painter. I bought Ryan Church's and Puddnheads tutorial dvd's and although their styles and workflows are very different I learned a great deal by watching and working along with the dvd's and I'm sure I saved myself a great deal of time rather than just trial and error.

3 comments about Targus TSB07501US 15.4-Inch League Backpack.
  1. I despised lugging my 17in laptop in its shoulder strap case across campus. Initially I wanted a SwissMade backpack, which are carried in Best Buy. However when I checked it out, it couldn't fit my laptop, and I was surprised how small the bag was. The price was high as well. Instead I ordered this Targus and was pleasently surprised. The built-in laptop case easily carried my 17in laptop, although now it carries my 15.4in equally comfortably. It has two waterbottle holders, carries all my books, is very well made, and has several layers of pockets. I use it for school, for vacationing, and for hiking; it suits all the above purposes very well. It makes carrying my laptop for long distances much easier. Highly recommended.

  2. It's much more than what you see in the pictures, the two main zippers are as big as the backpack itself and the second one has 2 extra compartments where you can carry a great deal of things... It's very light weighted and very confortable... and for that price I'd buy two more if I had more than one pair of shoulders... ;)

I bought this for college, so if you were looking between this and other targus backpacks for that purpose I strongly recomend this one because of the size, the other backpacks are as good... but they were too big or too expensive for my taste...

  3. I bought this backpack laptop case for my son, who begins college in the fall. First of all, amazon's shipping is once again nothing short of incredible. I ordered this yesterday morning, and it came this morning. It was shipped via the free shipping offer. Way to go, Amazon.

As to the bacpack, it is a really nice product. Targus is known for not making junk... and this is no exception. It is made very sturdy, has logical storage compartments, and the zippers/pulls are quality (should last a long time). This will be a nice tool for him to carry his MacBook Pro to and fro with.

If you are looking for a good laptop backpack, this one delivers! Now hopefully he will do well in his frosh year of college. 2 graduated, to in college and 1 in hs... life is movin' along!

  1. Product works great. The price is about half what the brick & morter stores charge. the size is A4, which is annoying but it works.

  2. I use a Mac and also use Disc Cover 2 for my insert label printing. I'm sure its a program issue but when I select the Memorex template it always prints the image too small and I have a white border. It never lines up with the spine perforations which is my biggest complaint. The spine perforations seem to be too wide so when you put it in a standard dvd case it overlaps both the front and back, bleeding the spine image. I also use Meritlines and they don't have a spine perforation and the template in the disc program always lines up.

The paper is thicker and whiter then many others out there and that is why I like the Memorex better other than the spine perforation issue.

  3. The software is some what cumbersom to use and doesn't offer some of those little things we enjoy like spell check. The card stock is what it is. And it is card stock that is perfectly perferated so that all you have to do is fold and tear and slide it into your dvd case (cut one side if using slim dvd case). That is what I like most about this paper. Print and rip. You don't have to use a cutting board or try cutting a straight line with scissors. The down side is that it is a thicker card stock, the sort used when you print your resume and use paper that is a bit more than just plain paper. The prints are certainly not the quality you get when you buy a dvd, but hey when your burning dvds and stealing cover art from the internet. Why not? They do look slick.

  4. I am a videographer who is expanding to provide custom covers to my DVD creations. These are NOT of high quality. If you want to catalog your families trips or store something, they'll be fine, but really, they are pretty cheap. You have to download the software, which is a bad deal for those with dial up. They'll work, but I'll buy higher quality next time.

  5. Memorex provides free download software to use with these inserts. What they don't tell you is the case inserts paper size is A4. I have used these for about three years now and have created hundreds on perfect inserts on both HP and Brothers printers. The only errors were my own. Be sure the paper in loaded properly and paper guide is properly adjusted. Be sure the printer knows the proper paper size, A4 for DVD inserts and Letter for disc labels. Other poto paper setting works best. Enjoy your personalized inserts and display with pride.
