5 comments about WWE In Your House 27 - St. Valentine's Day Massacre.
- This PPV was horrible, the last man standing match was boring and dragged on, the cage match was good, and the only reason why this PPV even gets 2 stars is because during the Shamrock/Val Venis match Shamrock's sister goes face to face with Shamrock and she hit him, just before the slap if you listen closely you can hear Shamrock say "Slap Me" in his normal voice reminding her what to do at that moment, that was funny.
- I love this video. It is a great ppv from 1999.The best matches were the Rock vs Mankind in a last man standing, HHH and Xpac vs Kane and Chyna ,and Stone Cold vs Vince Mcmahon in a cage match. The Rock and Mankind tore the house down until both beat each other senseless.HHH and Xpac were out for revenge since Chyna joined the corporation but they had to get through Kane first. Then Stone Cold beat the crap out Mcmahon but was in for a surprise.............The Big Show!
- Goldust vs Blue Meanie
Funny match, great way to open the show.
Rating: 6.0/10
WWF Hardcore Title Match
Al Snow (C) vs Hardcore Holly
Great, Entertaining match. This was an good match with a good ending.
Rating: 7.5/10
WWF Intercontinential Title Match
Ken Shamrock (C) vs Val Venis
Special Ref-Billy Gunn
This match exceeded expectations by far. Great match with good ending.
Rating: 7.5/10
Big Boss Man vs Mideon
Quite possibly the worst match in the history of PPV's. The most boring match of 1999 by far.
Rating: 1.0/10
WWF Tag Team Title Match
Jeff Jarrett and Owen Hart (C) vs Mark Henry and D'Lo Brown
Pretty good title match. It didn't disappoint.
Rating: 6.5/10
Mixed Tag Team Match
Triple H and X-Pac vs Kane and Chyna
Boring match until the end, the end made the match good.
Rating: 6.0/10
WWF Championship Match
Last Man Standing Match
The Rock (C) vs Mankind
Good match, but not even near their match at the Rumble. Very good ending though.
Rating: 8.0/10
Steel Cage Match
Winner Is #1 Contender for WWF Title Match at Wrestlemania 15
"Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs Vince McMahon
Great match, great ending. Perfect main event for this type of PPV.
Rating: 9.0/10
WWF St. Valentine's Day Massacre is worth a rent for casual wrestling fans, but this PPV needs to be bought for any hardcore fan.
Overall Rating: 7.5/10
- I have been a wrestling fan since 1996 and have watched all kinds of wrestling. I have a wrestling DVD/VHS collection spanning over 50 all together. This is the most complete and accurate review of this VHS you will find. I hope you find this review helpful; remember to vote helpful or not helpful. (Note-Each VHS I review has a "Match of the VHS" award somewhere in it.)
WWF St. Valentines Day Massacre
This PPV is one that can be over looked really easy. Most people only remember it for it's last two matches, but it carried some great mid-card action as well. It had its slow points, but it was overall a very strong show. Also, if I remember correctly, this was WWF's last IYH PPV. If I am wrong on that, please leave a comment and correct me.
Goldust VS Bluedust
The Blue Meanie from ECW has been taunted Goldust for weeks now. He has even went as far as dressing like a blue version of Goldust. This was an entertaining opener. The match was kept short and filled with comedic action.
RATING- 6/10
WWF Hardcore Championship
Al Snow VS Bob Holly
This was for the Vacated Hardcore Title. This is the match that went all the way to the Mississippi River. This was one of the better early Hardcore Title matches. It included all your usual hardcore antics; there are many weapons used and lots of backstage brawling. The match ends in a fairly innovative way.
RATING- 8.5/10
Big Boss Man VS Mideon
This match was boring with little interesting action. The best part is when it ends. I'm not just saying that as a joke at how bad the match is either, the aftermath is awesome and included a wicked beat down of Boss Man.
RATING- 3.5/10
WWF World Tag Team Championships
Jeff Jarrett & Owen Hart (c) w/Debra VS D'Lo Brown & Mark Henry w/Ivory
A solid tag featuring some heated confrontations between Debra and Ivory. The story is that Mark Henry still liked Debra, and became easily distracted by her. Ivory was meant to be the equalizer. All wrestlers do well in this match.
RATING- 8/10
After this match, Mankind gives an interview about The Rock's attack on him earlier.
Special Referee- Billy Gunn
WWF Intercontinental Championship
Ken Shamrock(c) VS Val Venis w/Ryan Shamrock
Val Venis is with Ken Shamrock's sister. Shamrock doesn't appreciate this and is losing his mind. Billy Gunn provides some of the most entertaining refereeing ever. This includes slow counts, no counts, not knowing what moves are pins. Shamrock and Venis put on a strong match.
RATING- 8/10
Triple H & X-Pac VS Chyna & Kane
Chyna turns on D-X and joins the Corporation. This is really just your average tag match. What makes it so entertaining is Chyna beating up on guys and Shane McMahon is on commentary. Shane McMahon makes his presence felt by attacking X-Pac. I liked the ending as it made no one look weak.
RATING- 8/10
Last Man Standing Match (Match of the VHS)
WWF Championship
Mankind(c) VS The Rock
This match was brutal. Some people say their match at WWE Royal Rumble 1999 - No Chance In Hell was better; I haven't seen it but you should check that match out too. The Rock suplexes Mankind on the floor three times. Mankind DDTs Rock through a table. Both men use chairs and stairs to attack each other. It another great match from The Rock and Mankind.
RATING- 10/10
Steel Cage Match
Winner Goes on to Wrestlemania Main Event
Vince McMahon VS Stone Cold Steve Austin
This match starts off with some brawling outside the cage because McMahon refuses to get in the cage with Austin. They go up in the crowd and brawl. McMahon tries to escape Austin by climbing into the cage. McMahon pays for it as he is caught and falls through the announce table. Eventually, Austin gets McMahon in the cage and the match finally starts. The match is entirely a beat-down of McMahon, but it's one of the most entertaining beat-downs there has ever been. Paul Wight, better know as Big Show, would make his debut near the end of this match.
RATING- 9/10
- Goldust vs The Blue Meanie
Weird match with that reject from Extremely Crappy Wrestling(ECW)The Blue Meanie.Thank goodness Goldust won which as I was rooting for him in this match, even though that is something I dont normally do.
Hardcore Holly vs Al Snow(champion) for the WWF Hardcore Title.
Good macth with good hardcore wrestling. Now thats my kind of match. They eventually wind up at the Mississippi River and Hardcore Holly wins the title.(They would have another match for the harcore title at Backlash 1999 with Snow winning).
The Big Bossman vs Mideon
The Undertaker and The Ministry of Darkness are doing an promo backstage before the match. Then the match begins with the Bossman and Mideon. The Bossman wins but after the match he is attacked by the Ministry of Darkness and is taken backstage.
Dlo Brown and Mark Henry w/Ivory vs Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett(champions)w/Debra for the WWF Tag Team Titles.
Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett win to retain the WWF Tag Team Titles.Ok match, good catfight after the match too w/Ivory and Debra.I was wishing Ivory could of ripped of Debras top and we could of seen her puppies but that didnt happen though.
Ken Shamrock(champion) vs Val Venis for the Intercontinental Title w/guest referee Billy Gunn
Venis wins after guest referee Billy Gunn fast counts Shamrock. Then they fight after the match.
HHH and XPAC vs Kane and Chyna
I love this feud!Chyna had turned on HHH the month before and this set up their friction among one another!Anyway Kane and Chyna won when Kane choke slammed HHH and Chyna got the pin. Also Shane McMahon does guest commentary for the match.
The Rock vs Mankind(champion)in an last man standing match for the WWF Title.
Neither man won after both were counted out after the count of 10 resulting in an draw. However since Mankind was the champion going into the p.p.v he retains the WWF Title.(He would lose the title the next night on Raw to the Rock in an ladder match).
Vince McMahon vs Stone Cold in an cage match(If Austin wins he gets to go to Wrestlemania 15 to face the WWF Champion)
First let me say one thing....did you ever think you'll see Vince Mcmahon headlining a p.p.v?Neither did I,but anyway Austin dominates the whole match and then the Paul Wight aka the Big Show interferes and slams Austin throught the cage but however the door opens and Austin falls out for the win.Stone Cold is going to Wrestlemania 15 to face the WWF Champion!
Overall a good show Michael Cole and Jerry "The King "Lawler were the announcers after J.R had been out since December of 1998 returning in April of 1999.They made a pretty good announce team in J.R's absence. Also every single match was just about good w/the Last Man Standing Match between The Rock/Mankind,and the Cage Match between Austin/Vince being two classics.Youre not an fan of the WWF/WWE unless you buy this tape!

5 comments about On Valentine's Day.
- A quiet little gem with building moments of intensity, "On Valentine's Day" is based on the life of the grandmother of Hallie Foote, daughter of Horton Foote. Hallie stars as her grandmother in this lovely film. Screenplay is by Horton Foote and is produced by Lillian Foote. A young couple marries against family wishes in 1917 Wharton Texas. They move to a boarding house, living with characters who gradually reveal their hearts(including a young Matthew Broderick). A shy, lonely and plain girl befriends the new bride and they soon share their joys, fears and the news that Hallie is pregnant. "Bobby", a troubled, alcoholic and world-weary roomer (played by I believe Michael Higgins) brilliantly emits a sense of impending doom and you can't take your eyes off him. He creates a sense of danger, and you hold your breath, hoping you are misreading him.
Softly photographed, you can almost smell the magnolias. This film brings back the sense of community from a time when neighbors truly knew one another, shared lives and a rhythm of peaceful grace was the rule. This film is a gift from a man whom you may recall wrote "To Kill A Mockingbird", "Tender Mercies" and "Trip to Bountiful", among other works. It is a treasure to cherish from a family which has contributed much to American literature. This certainly is worth getting on DVD as it will only become more interesting with age and you will want to share it with grandchildren as they get to an age where they can comprehend the real message this film contains.
- This is the second movie in a projected series based on the plays of Horton Foote. ("1918" was the first.) This time the year is 1917, the place still rural Texas, and it's a slice-of-life look at a single family in their day-to-day trials and tribulations, which include drunkeness, insanity, and financial struggles. It can be slow at times, but like "1918" it's always absorbing and very realistic. Worth seeing.
- Horton Foote's trilogy was produced for PBS years ago. It was called "The Story of a Marriage." The first in the series has now been released as "Courtship," the second is on "Valentine's Day", and the last is "1918". Horton Foote who is one of America's greatest writers paints a wonderfully accurate portrait of the slow pace of Texas life in the early part of the 20th century. What might seem slow pacing to those used to action-packed drama, is really Foote's beautifully sparce but meaningful language. This was a time when gentility mattered above all else. As was the case in small southern towns, the odd and eccentric were protected and cared for by the town, while hopefully kept out of sight. Foote embraces the damaged and the frail, weaving their lives along with those of the main characters, to portray a quiet tale of compassion, love and strength of character. The characters will stay with you forever.
- Horton Foote is a playwright and screenwriter of the gentlest, most powerful kind. His beginnings in small town Texas has informed most all of his writing ever since. He has written for broadway, live television and hollywood. He wrote the amazing screenplay for "To Kill A Mockingbird" based on Harper Lee's book. He wrote the films "Tender Mercies" and "Trip to Bountiful" (based on his play) He's won the Pultzer Prize for his play "Young Man From Atlanta" (1995). Many of his plays have ended up on video/dvd and "On Valentine's" is one of them. It was first shown on PBS.
There is a series of plays written by Mr. Foote called "The Orphan's Home Cycle". Nine terrific plays, gentle and rewarding individually...put them together and you have a gorgeous epic that spans decades. The plays follow a boy named Horace from childhood to adulthood.
The middle three plays of this cycle are: "Courtship", "Valentine's Day" and "1918" and are all on DVD and available on Amazon.
"On Valentine's Day" picks up two years after "Courtship" and takes place in a small town Texas rooming house where Horace and Elizabeth live as man and wife. A baby is on the way and it's Christmas Eve. There's been a divide between Elizabeth and her family because of who Elizabeth decided to marry and this play is about the reunion of the spirits and the love of a family as it comes back together. (Made all the more poignent because Horace is an "orphan" and is counting on Elizabeth to be her family.)
Other residents of the rooming house give a view of the world around them and the delicate script gives a profound and addicting take on life and what makes up love, family and security.
"On Valentine's Day" stands alone as an amazing timepiece. Put the film together with the previous chapter, "Courtship" and then the next chapter: "1918" and you have an amazing statement of life in small town America from 1915 to World War I. You have a dramatic poem about love and endurance. You also have an important document of Amercan theater by having a record of this great playwright's work come to life.
The same wonderful cast is in all three films, offering great continuity of performance and sparse, tender storytelling.
1918, Courtship, Horton Foote's - Alone
- It takes a certain sensibility to enjoy the small but hardly insignificant pleasures of a Horton Foote story. Like Chekhov before him, he brings together a group of fully-drawn characters with hopes, aspirations, disappointment and sorrows and provides us with a glimpse into their interconnected lives. Set in the years before WWI, in a small Texas town not far from the Gulf, this story centers around a young married couple expecting their first baby as the bride's parents come to terms with her marriage - an elopement with a young storekeeper they regard as below her station. Also figuring in the story are an alcoholic boarder in their rooming house, a simple-minded friend of the young bride, and a relative who seems to be losing his mind and mysteriously comes and goes, handing out money.
The first half of the story takes place on Christmas and the second half on Easter, the two chief holidays of the Christian liturgical calendar. The Valentine's Day of the title, which comes between them, is the couple's first anniversary. Together, they represent the cycle of birth, love, and death that seems always at the background of whatever story Foote has to tell. A small-scale film, structured in the style of a stage play, "On Valentine's Day" has wonderful performances and evokes a place and time long lost in the American past.

3 comments about Winnie the Pooh - Un-Valentines Day.
- I like winnie the pooh but this is just plain not good.Wanna know why? Here is why:
1.The point of the story is they cancel valentines day because they get to many cards. So what if you have to many? What are they trying to teach? That the cancel one of the most important holidays OVER A FEW TWO MUCH STINKIN'CARDS?!?! 2.Pooh gets a valentine, and thinks it was from piglet and he gives it to him and piglet gives one to tigger.etc...What are they turning it into,a card giving frenzy? It wastes the whole thing about that and they all say its from chirstaphor robin!Didn't you ever hear the saying not the victem until proven guilty?IT COULD BE EEYORE BUT NOOO THEY DON'T EVEN THINK OF HIM.Poor, poor eeyore... 3.Then Rabbit makes a show for chirstaphor robin.Again with no thinking of eeyore! He is always sad but then they make him even sadder?WHY DOESN'T HE GET A SPECIAL SHOW?There so mean to him.Just because he isn't as exciting as the rest of the pooh crew?BADSee?Thats why.But if you like it,thats okay, ... If you buy it sure you will see your favorite pooh charecters but hey, charecters don't matter
- This video is great for Valentine's Day! Rabbit decides to cancel Valentine's Day because Pooh sent way to many last year causing a huge mess in the Hundred Acre Woods. But when a Valentine pot of honey arrives on Pooh's door, he leads to the assumption that Piglet sent it to him. Because Piglet always fumbles up easy tasks, the whole of the Hundred Acre Woods is soon secretly giving Valentines to one another behind Rabits back. I gave it 4 stars because I wish it were longer and I wish Eeyore had been in it more! A bonus "Three Little Piglet's" cartoon has been added. It's the classic story of the three little pigs, but in the style of Winnie The Pooh. Also, for the smaller crowd, is a "Rollie Pollie Ollie" short from Playhouse Disney's new hit computer animated show! Buy this video for your family today!
- This is a wonderful charming video that I have been watching for a long time. It is great, and if you love Pooh, you will love this. I think out of the two Pooh Valentine's Day movies, this one is better.
Join Pooh for a charming holiday, and you will enjoy it, because Pooh, Piglet, and everyone else, tries to make Valentine's Day special. This is a great video for the young and old, even though it is not like the originals, get it, and bring a little of magic to your day.

- I bought this dvd and I do not repent myself, a product of excellent quality. Congratulations Amazon.com because she was perfect in the delivery of the product.
- 20 years ago another act like this was made by Bob Geldof to bring new attitudes against one of the most biggest problem of mankind... Well, twenty years later we're seeing that the poverty is growing and now many countries have been "shoted" by this problem...
It's very hard to say if this act, to promove shows around the world against the poverty, using singers and famous groups it's the best thing to do... But I think we need to have a position about this subject using some kinds of "guns", and the music is good way to touch or even to send a message for the people and to the government...
Well, about the dvd what can I say? A great box with a lot of music... You'll have about 10 hours of music and shows.. I liked that they promoted this stuff including all the main languages on the subtitles, english, german, french, and portuguese (thanks god!)! Great sound and a great images from the shows around the world...
I can give an important value to this event to get the reunion of the Pink Floyd after so many fights and discussions through the years.. Well, if they could come back and play again, why we can't believe that the poverty can disappear?? : ))
Great show and package... Buy it.. You won't be disappointed...
- This is a 4-DVD set, which takes some of the performances from most of the Live 8 venues. Performances by a number of the "big names" who performed at the nine Live 8 venues appear here (there's about 10 hours of material). This is a good set for a starter, to get a good cross-section of the artists and venues. However, DVDs have been issued for at least some of the individual venues; so if you're more interested in getting a whole DVD of one of the venues, it's worth checking to see if the venue you want has been issued individually.
- Loved most of it...some of the acts don't do anything for me but the ones that do are great.
- Great service from the seller! DVD and packaging in excellent shape. And, the content was much better than I expected. I bought this for the Pink Floyd reunion and got that and so much more. The quality of the DVD is amazing and the backstage footage is fun - it would be nice to have had more of that, though. It's a phenomonal collection and I'm really glad I purchased it. Thank you, Amazon!
