  1. Es una estupenda compra. Se la compre a mi hija de 2 aƱos y medio, esta encantada! La recomiendo, es muy buena inversion, mi hija ha aprendido mucho con Diego, es mas, es su caricatura favorita.

  2. My Son is really into Diego, he is part Japanese and Brit. It is a novelty to pick up Spanish words, which he has questioned me about later. It has further established in his three year old head there are lots of different languages around the world. He is studying Japanese at school, even though we live in Japan, home lingo is only English. Wish there was a DVD as captivating in English and Japanese There isn't a one- Don't understand why? Anyone out there with inspiration on this venture. Let me know we will be your first customer.

  3. My son, who is a Diego fan, really liked this movie. Well worth the money for that little Diego fan in your family.

  4. This cartoon character is wonderful for younger children. The music is fantastic and the storylines are exciting without being brash. My little one year old has already learned a lot from the shows. He loves to watch and dance to the music. I would highly recommend it.

5 comments about Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown (Remastered Deluxe Edition).
  1. Charles M. Schulz shows us the dark side of the holiday with Charlie Brown's trauma & Linus's crush. However, it's this harsh look at reality that has made the Peanuts specials so endearing because CB never gives up, and humor can be found in almost any situation.

  2. I actually like this guy-Charlie Brown is one cartoon character I can relate to alot. This has to be the least sentimental valentines special ever.In it Linus developes an unrequited crush on Mrs.Authmar (his teacher)and Charlie Brown,in his ever growing search for friends, finds himself without a singles valentine.AWWWWWWWWWW!Like many children who saw this I actually wanted to send him one.And of course Sally continues in her fruitless pursuit of her Sweet Baboo.Whatching Linus scattering his box of chocolates, inteneded for his teacher over the bridge is one of the classic Peanuts scenes I can think of-each time Snoopy and Woodstock manage to swallow the chocolate lol.And of course the guilt wridden girls trying to pawn off a used valentine to Charlie Brown, which even for a kid if going pretty low only to be nearly repelled by the ever caustic Schroder. No matter-Charlie Brown in desperation takes the valentine.Ah well better to have loved delusionally then never to have loved at all.

  3. I already have this title in several editions (UK, US & German, how sad am I?!!!) however this edition stands out in both visual clarity & sound quality. I had to look at the release dates just to check they were really as old as they were. The remastering quality is stunning (why couldnt this have been done before?????????????). I have already ordered the 'Easter Beagle' in this set, and am looking forward to this in new & stunning clarity. I may now already have every Charlie Brown available on DVD, but i will certainly continue to buy these re-releases as the quality more than justifies the cost, and the little extras are a real bonus too!

  4. This Peanuts DVD includes three love-related specials. The title feature, "Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown" is the first of the three cartoons on the disc. This special aired on television in 1975 and was nominated for an Emmy. Mostly based around Schultz's original strips, the main story follows Charlie Brown as he survives Valentine's Day. The cartoon begins with Snoopy dancing around as cupid and trying to hit Charlie Brown and missing every single time. Charlie Brown faithfully checks his mailbox hoping to get a Valentine and brings a briefcase to school to carry home all the cards he plans to receive. Meanwhile, Linus has a crush on his teacher and buys her an expensive box of chocolates as a gift that Sally believes is for her.

The second special on the disc is "You're in Love, Charlie Brown". The school year is quickly approaching the end of the year and Charlie Brown finds himself head over heals in love with the cute little red-haired girl in his class. He fights to overcome his shyness to speak with the girl before the school year ends because after that, he won't be able to see her until the fall.

The third and final special on the DVD is "It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown". This time it's October and the school is gearing up for the big homecoming game and dance. During the homecoming parade, Charlie Brown is informed by Linus that he's going to be the queen's escort at the dance and he will have to kiss her on the cheek. The Queen is none other than the little red-haired girl and Charlie Brown finds himself more nervous than he's ever been before. Of course, before the homecoming dance there's the big homecoming football game.

In addition to a few trailers, BE MY VALENTINE, CHARLIE BROWN also includes a featurette documentary, "Unlucky in Love: An Unrequited Love Story." I really enjoyed this documentary. It includes interviews with Jean Schulz, Charles' widow; his son Craig; Stephan Pastis the creator of "Pearls Before Swine", and several others. They talk about the reoccurring theme of unrequited love that appears in "Peanuts", who the real little red-haired girl was, and why "Peanuts" remains relevant.

BE MY VALENTINE, CHARLIE BROWN is a must-own DVD for any "Peanuts" fan.

  5. No Peanuts special can ever compare to the gold standard: the Christmas special. However, any special where Snoopy does a puppet show (the "Pawpet Theatre") isn't all bad. "Be My Valentine" isn't very funny and is rather depressing. But there are a few cute moments and it makes for a quick holiday treat. Worth owning and rewatching? Possibly not...

  1. While no Scream, Valentine still manages to rise above other horror films like I Know What you Did Last Summer and the like. It's not original by any means, but it makes the regurgitated scare tactics it uses seem somewhat fresh and with a cast as beautiful as this one your willing for forgive the many mistakes. The film follows a group of friends as they try and decide who is trying to kill them. These girls were all horridly mean to a boy in school and it appears that he has come back on Valentines day to exact his revenge. As the body count rises their fear grows stronger, and with a large Valentine bash on the way things start to escelate rappidly. It's far from perfect but it's far from dull and that counts for a lot. It's a nice deversion from the mundane and serves up some decent scares, some hot bodies and some bloody aftermaths (if your into that kinda thing, and judging on the fact your interested in this type of film tells me you are). Recommended for any fan of the Scream franchise and the like.

  2. Wow,this movie is quite possibly one of the most uninteresting slasher movies in years. At no time does this create even a small amount of suspense. The actors appear to be uninterested in the movie and look almost ashamed to be in the film.
After the tired cliched opening of a young picked on boy being beat and humiliated at a school dance we flash forward 13 years and find that he is now looking to get even with the girls who rejected him. The fact that the girls are made to look like horrible mean spirted witches almost has you cheering for their demise. The final revelation of who the killer is is a big let down and raises questions as to how he was able to commit some of the murders.
Give yourself a break and save your money for something that is really scary. Spend your money on flowers and skip this valentine!

  3. "Valentine" is great holiday slasher fare. Though it is not a horror classic like "My Bloody Valentine," it is still enjoyable to watch. The body count is high and the death scenes are immaginative. The actors/actresses are gorgeous, the settings are beautiful, the musical score rocks, and the action is well paced. However, I strongly suspected who the killer was early into the movie because of a lack of surviving male characters. Therefore, it succeeds as a Jason-type slasher (the killer wears a Kewpie doll mask in lieu of a hockey mask) but fails as a mystery thriller/giallo. "Valentine" tried hard to have a "twist" ending but never succeeded because the viewer knows the killer has to be male due to their nose bleeding everytime they kill. Favorite scene: When one character is shot with three archery bows, falls down a steep stairwell and lands inside a trash bin.

  4. VALENTINE is a terrific homage / tribute / throwback movie. Watching it takes me back to the gory-glory days of 70s and 80s classics like HALLOWEEN, PROM NIGHT, MY BLOODY VALENTINE, HE KNOWS YOU'RE ALONE, etc. I love the cherub-masked killer! There's just something very unsettling about a giant baby w/ a butcher-knife! As for the gorgeous gaggle of gals, I must say that I was impressed! Denise Richards (Starship Troopers, Wild Things) and co. are all knockouts, even while being knocked off! So, if you pine away for those good old days of SSS (Silent Sinister Stalkers), beautiful victims, and mobs of red-herrings, then VALENTINE should do you true...

  5. This review is really like a companion piece to Daniel Jolley's Amazon review of October 12, 2002. He has already expressed everything I could about this movie in the best possible way. So many have panned it which is why I found Daniel's review to be so refreshing, and it inspired me to chime in my own two cents and up the review average in favor of this highly entertaining and very fun horror movie.

Some have said that "Scream" reignited the slasher genre in the mid '90s but I have never been a big fan of that one as it is to me almost like a play or satire on the familiar slasher movie formulas rather than a bona fide slasher itself. "Valentine" director Jamie Blanks however, clearly a die hard slasher fan just like I and perhaps you are if you're reading this, seems to realize that those same familiar formulas that "Scream" pokes fun at are formulas that work, and have made for some great entertainment since the late '70s and early '80s when the slasher wave first broke. Blanks even admits in the director's commentary track of the DVD that "Valentine's" plot is not the most original but boy does this one ever deliver.

And just what is that plot. It concerns revenge for cruel taunting in junior high school, with each of the young women involved years later receiving warped Valentine's greetings from the unknown perpetrator, who proceeds to stalk and pick them off one by one.

And how beautiful each of those women have grown to be! To echo what Daniel said in his review, from the male perspective "Valentine" is a delight to behold. You get the brief early appearance by Katherine Heigl, who looks awesome and fetching as a med student in a tank top; Marley Shelton, a stunning blonde who plays nice girl Kate, and Denise Richards, who sizzles as the not so nice Paige. Oh yeah, and for the female contingent, I'm told that David Boreanaz (as Kate's mysterious alcoholic-leaning boyfriend) is not unpleasant on the eyes. True, as compared to the early '80s, in these slightly more enlightened and dare I say "politically correct" times, there is no out and out nudity in "Valentine" but as Daniel stated, the sultry bedroom bondage scene and Denise Richards in the hot tub scene to me more than make up for it.

But at the heart of it, "Valentine" succeeds in large part because of its sense of fun and that it presents hip humor (like the bit on the perils of speed dating) in place of the usual stomach-churning gore. In the spirit of my favorite slashers, it does not take itself at all seriously and is played mainly for fun.

That's not to say there is no gore or sleaze to behold here; it is a slasher movie after all. Blanks directs the film very stylishly and presents the perfect update on the classic slasher template for a new generation. The killer wears a very cool cherub mask and the stalk and slash scenes are great and very inventive and quite suspenseful. While the premise may not be too original (which again, Blanks readily admits), to echo the proverbial saying, if it ain't broke, why fix it?

I love slasher movies and for all the reasons stated here and in Daniel's earlier review "Valentine" is a new classic for a new generation that stands up with the best slashers of the past.

  1. I saw these movies on the WE channel some time ago and was excited to find them on DVD. I know they edit movies for TV so I hoped that the NR rating wasn't bad. I Loved "At the Midnight Hour", just as I remembered it. "This Matter of Marriage" we still cute, but the last scene in the shower was a bit uncomfortable because it went on for a long time just showing unclothed profiles. What saddened me most, was "Another Woman". I have to say this was my favorite from TV and I was so excited to get it. What a disappointment to find they had added a nude scene on the beach that ruined this movie for me. I will be disguarding this movie from my library and hoping to record it when it comes on TV again.

  1. I saw these movies on the WE channel some time ago and really enjoyed them so I was happy to see them on DVD. I realize that TV edits movies so I checked the ratings before I bought this and found it was NR. Hoping for the best, I made the purchase. I was glad I watched Treacherous Beauties without my kids because there was one scene that contained a lot of nudity that ruined the whole movie for me. In addition, this particular movie kept looping back to one scene and I had to go to scene selection to get out of it. The other two movies were fun and just as I remembered from TV with only a few extra scenes. I will be disguarding the movie Treacherous Beauties and hope it comes on TV again so I can record it.

  1. This DVD was geat quality and exactly what we wanted. It was a film we watched years ago and enjoyed seeing again!!!

  2. There was nothing wrong with the product. The shipping was too slow but hey, it made it here and it made the person that received it smile

  3. My husband and I were undecided between 2 and 3 stars. Back in it's day I would give it a strong 3 stars. Seeing it now for the first time, I don't know. It starts off a little hokey but then it picks up quite nicely. There are some funny moments. A wee bit of suspense. Not too much gore. The mine makes for good scary movie scenery. Worth the rental.

  4. I remember watching this movie on Sunday afternoons during the eighties on Commander or [Captain] USA's groovy movies or something like that.A really good slasher film that boasts a cool ending folk song.A must watch with your significant other on Valentines Day. I love the ending of this movie, one of my favorites!

  5. Ahhh, the early `80s. It was a wonderful time if you were a horror movie junkie like me. After "Halloween" and "Friday the 13th", you had a string of masked killer slasher movies that were, if not exactly Oscar worthy, they were good escapist entertainment. "My Bloody Valentine" was a gory, nasty little thriller about Valentine Bluffs, a community that hasn't had a Valentines Day dance in 20 years, after a mine accident and some subsequent murders. Now the town elders are trying to put the past behind them, but as V-Day approaches, new murders and warnings start popping up everywhere. The kids decide to hold the dance/party in the old mine (the town's biggest employer), but a figure in a miner's outfit and breathing mask appears with his pick-ax to murder the happy go lucky kids.

OK, so this is the plot of all those movies back then, but who cares. It works now better than it did back in 1981, mostly for the nostalgia effect. "My Bloody Valentine" is one of the better "Halloween" knock-offs because it takes its material pretty seriously (believe it or not). I lived through the horror hay day back then and I love revisiting these old movies. They remind me of when the only thing I had to be afraid of was that shadow that seems to move on its own (I was pretty young back then).

The mines that are the towns main fixture is a really creepy place, the narrow, cold and cramped shafts induce a fear of cave-ins, which is a natural fear of mans since the dawn of time. Throw in a masked serial killer and it works pretty well. The killer's identity at the end is the only let down, but I guess they were trying to leave the possibility of a sequel open. The acting was not the best, but the cast did a good job of at least not embarrassing themselves.

If you like the `80s Golden Age of horror movies, then you have probably already seen "My Bloody Valentine". For those who are going through the current regurgitation (the pale imitation of our glory period) then you owe it to yourself to check these movies out.

5 comments about The St. Valentine's Day Massacre.
  1. One who looks to the theatre, a venue created for the sole purpose of entertainment, for the purpose of witnessing factual accounts of true life stories is a bit naive and more than a little foolish.

What? You mean the epic battles depicted in "300" didn't REALLY happen that way?

No way! Are you telling me that Mozart wasn't REALLY the bawdy buffoon obsessed with lowbrow humor as depicted in "Amadeus"?

When was the last time you saw a film that stuck to straight facts? For me, it was "1492: Conquest of Paradise" back in '92. And yet some still argue that the film is a poor distillation of the truth.

"The St. Valentine's Day Massacre" isn't a film full of actual truths, because Roger Corman never meant it to be. It's a fun, fast-paced, and extremely entertaining film with some truly exceptional sets. Do you think he may have been shooting for that instead?

Sure, for starters, Robards is a bit hammy as Capone. Yes, he does look nothing like Capone did. But if you're a fan of the era and gangster movies in general, give this one a chance, because it's unquestionably one of the finest b-movies ever to emerge from the storied career of Corman.

And by the way, if you want the hard facts, watch a documentary.

  2. Don't like this kind of movie, but it is good quality and arrived quickly. Purchased as a gift.

  3. The St. Valentine's Day Massacre (1967), is a movie that has an
overwhelmingly historical feel to it, in the self-contained,
razor-focused story its tells. As a result, there's a challenge that
modern audience may struggle in relating to the time and space
    during which the action unfolded.

For the 3 or 4 decades following the turn of the 20th century, many
significant events occurred, such as the Great Depression,
Prohibition, the Wall St market crash, etc, coupled with a very
robust fertility rate in Italy and Sicily, added to a tremendous ease
in immigration of "paisani" from that region to the USA.

Roger Corman prepares a very professionally made, no-nonsense
picture, starring Jason Robards ( a Humphrey Bogard clone ) as Al
Capone. The other actors are naturally credible from their own
    charisma.

Unfortunately, this work seems to reinforce the Italian rooted
reputation of underground organizations operating first in Brooklyn,
then in Chicago, encompassing gambling, protection rackets,
bordellos, commodity trucks hijacksing, bribing of city officials and
politicians, law enforcement, intimidation tactics of pubs ( in terms
of the brand of beer, and suppliers selected), etc. To be fair,
Irish, German, American gangsters are also shown, such as Bugs Moran.

The numbers speak for themselves...over 600 grown men victims of
rubouts, shootings, in just a few years, during the violent fight for
control over the commercial and financial aspects of Chicago, divided
in territories by the underworld, for the rackets.

To the astonishment of modern city dwellers, drive-by shootings with
high powered, quick repetition machine guns, is carried out on a
regular basis, seen as a necessary evil, shamelessly carried out in
broad daylight, more blatant than at a shooting range, with no
containment or intervention by the law. Capone's Machevellian
tendencies is touched upon, breaking negotiated deals with other
gangs, the double cross with sniper executions, the ends justifying
    the means.

The visuals of the picture are spotless, mainly from the street
boutiques shown, numerous Model T and magnificent automobiles of the
era, and outdoor simulations, such as Winter temperatures preceding
the massacre (snow flakes...) which is enhanced by a wide-screen
    format.

Remarkably, the highest echelons of mobsters have access to all the
latest police news, all the confidential legal dossiers of each and
    every citizen.

An unanswered question, is the realism of the script ... since none
of it is biographical or autobiographical, and most if not all of the
underground participants admittedly got killed in less than 3 years
    from joining it.

How real is the tale ? The constant struggle in fleshing out who is
the Judas in the group vs. who are the loyal members is
understandable. But why did Capone not believe in forgiveness, but
simply in pistol or baseball bat executions?

Corman suggests it is explained by an eye-for-an-eye mentality and
gang rivalry "Qui-bono" thus, easily explains most of the action, in
    terms of who did them.

Another question, is whether Capone actually wore a 3 piece suit to
work every day, and resided in multiple luxury dwellings, and often
had several board-of-directors calibre men advising him in his daily
    operations, on a regular basis.

The closest to comedy this picture comes to, is a man and woman
argument over a fur coat, in a bedroom scene, which is unique to this
picture, and rarely seen in any movie.

  4. This is an old gangster movie with all the blood and gore. It is pretty well done and I liked it. Being based on a true story makes it more interesting.

  5. This movie was very good. My grandfather is Howard Browne, the author of this screenplay. Even though he wrote it, it still is very good. Fans of mobster movies would love this movie.

  1. You have to watch this one more than once just to catch all the quick punch lines. To me it is like watching an episode of something like West Wing. The dialog is fast and you have to pay attention to keep up. I enjoyed the movie and the What Love Is topic really hits home.

  2. Ahhh...Well this is surely to get people talking. More of a play than a movie type setting, this story bounces the personalities of 5 male and 5 female individuals in a dance between friendship, reality, and love. Well played, written, and especially directed (if you watch the extra's) this movie is a modern day event. Oscar worthy,,,,,no! Interesting and maybe a guilty pleasure...sure. Enjoy. Only complaint....the title and boxcover can turn people off. Ignore them and watch it. But, this movie is really directed at the 30 - 50 age group who can actually understand mature relationships.

  3. I've known about this movie for some time, but had not seen it. Some may complain about the language which is a little strong early. However, I would argue that it is true to what may happen in real life when 5 guys and 5 girls of their lifestyles get together in an emotionally charged situation?

I agree that the cover doesn't do the movie justice...get into the movie & you'll see a well played and designed story written, directed, produced, and starred in by Mars Callahan. The personalities were matched beautifully to the stars who played them. It was fun to match up the male & female counterparts as they were developing!! Go get this movie...

  4. Great dialogue between the characters. its nice to see Gina back on screen. enjoyed the differnt kinds of love expressed not just between a guy and a girl but love for companionship, love for attention and love for the sake of love. Cuba is certainly aging but he did a fantastic job as a love-eager man.

  1. I loved this movie. I recently saw it on the Hallmark Channel and found it heartwarming and sweet to see the transformation these characters underwent. It could have used a little more explanation in areas of the characters lives before their transplant, but the ending left me smiling and I love that.

  2. I too saw this movie on the Hallmark Channel. It was recommended by a friend of mine who had a transplant 10 years ago. I also have a daughter who had a bone marrow and kidney transplant, 19 yrs and 3 years ago. This movie brought back memories I had forgotten. The feelings of helplessness, of living in hospitals, seeing other patients pass away, withdrawing from life ... so many conflicting emotions. I felt it was an accurate portrayal of what a person experiences. The characters could have been more developed and some of the details seemed a little bit stretched, but still believable. It is a heart-warming story and makes you want to truly treasure your health and the blessings you've been given.

  3. I liked this movie when I saw it on TV - and I have seen it twice. It was good but could have been better. At times it seemed disjointed, but at other times was truly moving. In some ways it just seemed unfinished. It is a good story though and I recommend it but do not set your expectations too high.

  1. So I have Diego fans. All 3 of my kids love this movie. I actually don't mind watching this movie with them. The great thing about this video is it has a few different episodes on it. We own quite a few Diego items. Great expansion of Dora which my kids love as well. Definitely recommend this DVD.

  2. Both of my kids, [..], enjoy watching this video. It has cute stories and they learn a little about animals and there habitat while watching. The DVD has entertainment and some educational value.

  3. It is highly educational with lots of interesting facts about the animals and their habitat. The way the facts were presented in this DVD makes learning easy and memorable.

My 3YO daughter could remember the number of toes a jaguar have, the types of animals who sleep in the day and the features of a macaw, by just after watching the DVD once!

This show is a good extension to Dora. Now i'm convinced that i should get the whole series of Go Diego Go!

  4. ...and educational, as well. My daughter learns about animals, working together, and a foreign language. I recommend this 100% to anyone with young children.
