5 comments about Garfield's Thanksgiving.
  1. Thanksgiving is coming and Garfield's in the spirt, but he is put on a diet! Jon invites Liz and creates a Thanksgiving dinner disaster! It's up to Grandma to save the holiday! This movie is great! A+!

  2. I was disapointed that the story wasn't as good as Garfield's Christmas and Garfield's Halloween. The animation in Garfield's Thanksgiving wasn't as good as the animation in Garfield's Christmas. Jon's Grandmother was very funny. The actress who did the voice of Jon's Grandmother also did her voice in the Chrismtas Special, so I disapointed that Jon's Grandmother's voice didn't sound the same. Because she is my second favorite character in Garfield's Christmas.

This is a [poor] excuse for a Garfield Holiday Special. It's not worth the high price that it is selling for. I do have it in my collection. But I didn't pay over $...for it.

I don't suggest buying this video. I do however strongly suggest Garfield's Halloween Adventure and Garfield's Christmas Special.

  3. I have watched "Garfield's Thanksgiving" every year at Thanksgiving and I never grow tired of it. It's funnier than any other Thanksgiving cartoon show ever. Here in this cute and top-notch cartoon show, Jon and Garfield have a successful shopping trip to prepare for Thanksgiving. Then they have to go to THE VET! Garfield is so tensed up, that Liz, the vet, says that Garfield has to go on a diet while Jon tries to break a date with Liz in an unusual way: he holds his breath until she says she'll go out with him. He held out pretty long. The diet is torture for Garfield, but Jon can't wait for the next day. Get this. When he's about to pull everything he needs the next morning, he takes out everything from underneath the counter including the turkey itself. That counter must have a miniature fridge and everything down there. He sets the oven at 500 degrees. That's broil! It all turns out well, before Jon ruins the whole meal, but it's Grandma to the rescue. Jon tries to stall Liz off by telling her about what countires call their Thanksgiving and the whole history. Grandma is busy in the kitchen and ready to preare the table. That is quick work. It's a nice dinner scene in there, and it sort of warms you. Don't miss this Thanksgiving treat that should include a stuffed turkey. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

  4. If there is one thing that kids are going to pick up from animated Thanksgiving specials featuring their favorite cartoon and comic strip characters it is going to be that cooking a Thanksgiving dinner is hard work (which would explain why the kids are parked in front of the television watching parades and animated Thanksgiving special featuring their favorite cartoon and comic strip characters while mom is in the kitchen doing the hard work and dad is staying out of the way watching football). This lesson is amply illustrated in "Garfield's Thanksgiving," where Jon (voice of Tom Huge) is in charge of doing the turkey with all the trimmings, which, you know, is never going to work (even with the magic counter). Meanwhile, a bad situation is made even worse when Garfield (Lorenzo Music) is forced to go on a diet just as Turkey Day is approaching. Throw Odie (Gregg Berger) and Dr. Liz Wilson (Julie Payne) into the mix and it is a good thing that Grandma (Pat Carroll) will be around to save the day. All things considered, this is one of the funnier Thanksgiving animated specials and is a good bet to make the kiddies giddy. However, as always, parents will have to watch this one at least once to explain who Orson Welles was and other jokes that are going to go right over the heads of the kiddies. Note: Actress Julie Payne is the daughter of John Payne ("Miracle on 34th Street") and Anne Shirley (formerly Dawn O'Day, who changed her name to Anne Shirley to play Anne Shirley in "Anne of Green Gables").

  5. This holiday special was really good. I had never even seen or heard of this until it came out on dvd, so I picked it up. Oh my gosh. Funny! Especially Grandma. She never fails to disappoint in the humor department. And what's Jon thinking, trying to cook a fully-frozen turkey at 500 degrees for about an hour? It's clear Mom never taught him to cook. Garfield goes to the vet once again, if only for Jon's benefit. Can Jon keep Liz from being bored to death on their Thanksgiving date? Can Garfield survive his new diet? Can Grandma pull a miracle recipe out of the hat and save Thanksgiving? Buy this great cartoon and find out!

P.S. I agree with the previous review about storing food in the lower shelves. Didn't know people kept fridges down that low. Only in a cartoon.

5 comments about It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown/A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.
  1. It's Charlie Brown and Snoopy! Who doesn't love a classic, holiday, fun video. A great video to bring back memories and create new ones with your children.

  2. I love him! He's always so annoyed and fed up with things. A bit like me!!

nd I smiled. But I laughed more.

The "chemistry" between Charlie and Peppermint Patty is one to see. And Marcie saying stuff like, "Stop holding my hand, Charlie Brown." and other things to fire Patty up!

And the grandma and teachers speaking in the, "Wo Wo Wo Wo" language provides a few laughs also!

I loved it. I laughed so hard when Patty was disappointed with the "meal" that Snoopy prepared for everyone. "Popcorn? Buttered toast!!? Where are the mashed potatoes???!"

There are fewer cartoons as good as this here.

    5+ stars.

    Love ya, Charlie Brown!!

  3. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, and the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving was something I looked forward to every year. It cracks me up when Peppermint Patty invites herself and a bunch of people over then gripes about the food. However, Charlie Brown saving the day by bringing his buddies over to Grandma's house is a good reminder of how to be a true friend.

  4. What a wonderful classic - it takes me back to my childhood days! Of course, we didn't have DVD's (or VHS for that matter!) so whenever this great movie came on t.v. it was a BIG event! I make it special for my kids too - watching it at night with JIFFY POP popcorn, just like the good ol' days! I also think you get a GREAT DEAL on Amazon - it is the best price I've found AND if you spend $40, shipping is FREE! GREAT DEAL and a GREAT MOVIE! EnJoY!

  5. I decided to watch a series of old classics on DVD and gravitated to the Charlie Browns right away. This was not only due to my loving them as a kid but also due to the big biography on Charles Schulz's life that just got released. There's an innocence about these videos one seldom feels from contemporary specials. Unquestionably, the Peanuts series are a joy to re-experience. Furthermore, there is something incredibly non-PC about the dynamics of these characters. The over-the-top manipulative ways of Peppermint Patty and Lucy are not something producers would depict today. The same is true of Marcie's habit of calling Peppermint Patty "Sir." Saying grace before dinner would not do in a 2007 film either. Snoopy is a little aggressive for our new tastes. His pop gun musket would earn him a 10 day mandatory suspension were he to take it to school with him today. Not to mention that neither the beagle nor anyone else would dare to put butter on toast as he does here. Ah, the good old days may be gone but you can savor them once again with Charlie Brown.

5 comments about Peanuts Holiday Collection (A Charlie Brown Christmas/A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving/It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown).
  1. This peanuts video is really really great and funny. This is the comic strip that teaches the 'kid' side of oral adult view points. Join Charlie Brown, (Who hates it when Peanut Butter gets stuck in the roof of your mouth) Lucy, (Her psychiatric help booths are always a scream), Linus, (Who always carries his blanket around), and Sally, (Who doesn't give a flip as to whether or not her subjects in school are correct.)And then there's the goofy black and white beagle, snoopy, and the wacky yellow bird known as Woodstock. Even though we have never seen this peanuts video, I highly recommend the books to Peanuts fans. Or if your a Calvin and Hobbes fan, don't turn it down. Truly a heartwarming, funny, and hilarious strip. The Peanuts Holiday collection definitely gets Kudos from me.

  2. Every kid should have this set. The Halloween and Christmas video are classics, while the Thanksgiving one is a little less dynamic, how do you do much with Thanksgiving? We go from Halloween to Chistmas decorations here no stops in between for Turkeys or Pilgrim hats. I think there are some good lessons in these allfor kids, plus they are still fun to watch even as an adult all these years later. These have a lot more depth than today's sad batch of cartoons.

  3. a must have for all families! you can't go wrong with Charles M. Schulz.
all three holiday movies in one set. very nice!

  4. I got this for my Daughter for Christmas, she is in her early 20's and she watch's it all the time, she loves it.

  5. The Peanuts Holiday Collection is a great collection for anyone who likes the true fun of watching Charlie Brown and his ganag of friends. The three CD's makes sharing them easy and they are all true to the original television version but without commercials. It makes a great gift for people of all ages who like these wonderful holiday classics. Moreover, on each CD you get a bonus episode. Therefore, you get six shows on three discs.
