4 comments about The Sefer Torah Parade.
- Written with a thoroughly "kid friendly" flair by Tzivia Adler and enhanced with the artwork of ito Esther Perez, The Sefer Torah Parade is the story of a young Jewish girl who observes the celebratory parade commemorating the completion of a new Torah scroll and its placement in its home in the shul. After a rousing great celebration, the tired little girl is carried home. The Impressionist-style full color illustrations capture the joy and festivity of this special day. The Sefer Torah Parade spells out fascinating details of the new Torah's creation and journey in a warm and friendly manner, and is a most welcome introduction to this aspect of Jewish tradition for little folks.

2 comments about The Wedding.
- Few occasions are as exciting or as nerve wracking as a wedding. Further, that's one occasion when everyone wants each detail to be perfect. In lilting rhyme Eve Bunting relates the story of a wedding that almost wasn't.
As Miss Brindle Cow strolls along the path to town she listens to the wedding bells of Saint Michelle. She's surprised to find Pig sitting beneath a tree woefully examining a bandaged knee. Pig's the church organist, you see, and now can't get to the wedding. Fortunately Brindle Cow is very kind hearted. She invites Pig to ride to the church on her back. It's not too long before they spy Pomeroy the turtle. He's the florist. Unfortunately a very slow florist who fears there'll be no flowers for the wedding at the rate he's going. You guessed it - Brindle Cow invites Pomeroy to join Pig on her back. Before long a stranded duck, rabbit, and chipmunk join the pair riding to the church. Thanks to the goodness of the Brindle Cow all arrived in plenty of time for the nuptials. You're going to have to guess who the bride might be. "The Wedding" is a light hearted and loving look at a very special day. - Gail Cooke
- The Wedding is a recommended and cheery picturebook by Eve Bunting about a country wedding featuring an anthropomorphic animals including the bride, the groom, and all of the guests. But it seems that one problem after another besets the organist, the chef, and the florist -- all of whom are struggling to get to the church on time. And where is the bride? The Wedding is recommended as being a humorous, gentle tale which very nicely enhanced for young readers with the fanciful color illustrations of Iza Trapani.

2 comments about More Than Matzah: A Passover Feast of Fun, Facts, and Activities (Let's Celebrate).
- This story and activity book begins with a fairly detailed 25-page account of the story of the Exodus illustrated by simple cartoon-like drawings. Additional information like "While the Bible doesn't give the name of the pharaoh's daughter, Bible commentators say it was Bithia" (p.10) is included in small text boxes along with interesting "Fun Facts." The Activity Section features craft projects ranging from a simple Haggadah book cover to a more complex Seder plate and Matzah holder. The directions are clear and easy to follow, and the accompanying illustrations are helpful. Recipes for Sephardic and Ashkenazi Charoset, the words to "Who Knows One" and "Chad Gadya" and the four questions in English are also included. Like with Eight Lights for Eight Nights: A Hanukkah Story and Activity Book (2003), this resource will be quite useful for educators and those who enjoy holiday crafts. For ages 6 - 12. Reviewed by Rachel Kamin
- This book was sent in a timely manner and was in very good condition. It is just what a team of us were looking for in developing a curriculum for this year's Bible School, based on the Jewish Passover.--Thank-you so much.--Blinda Baxter

5 comments about The Devil in Vienna.
- At first this book is boring but then towards the end it gets pretty good. I liked it a lot. It tells the story of Inge and her life during the holocaust time. And how difficult it is to keep her friendship with her best friend Lisselote. Whose father is a Nazi. Close ones are leaving and going through hard times. THis is a wonderful and exciting story! It may seem boring at the beginning but believe me it gets better! I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading books about the holocaust, WW 2 or anything similar to that.
- I would have to say that Doris Orgel's book Devil In Vienna is one of my most treasured books. The story is so magnificent that I couldn't put it down until I finished reading it. There is also a Disney movie called a Friendship in Vienna that is based on the book, I enjoyed the movie and would recommend it for viewing also. I felt that the connection between the two girls even in the darkest of time, is what friendship is really about and that's what everyone should look for in a true friend. I would like to recommend this book to any person of any age, for I didn't read it until my late teens and even at that age I felt that it was an excellent book.
- We all feel that we understand the Holoquast. Jews were seperated from thier families and tortured in concentration camps. While we can all imagine this as being horrible, most don't see the story behind the eyes in the pictures of thin, ghostly looking faces of the victims, it seems as if skin was just draped over an empty skeleton. Which, by all means is understandible because it seems as if there is nothing to look at... at all. But I have to say, although this book has not much to do with the Holoquast, it brings a new meaning into the way I think about it. I feel able to comprehend it on a new level. With the personal story of Inge unwinding, the "What If" factor comes into play as you watch Inge's family struggle for survival in thier good health. With a completley rivoting, bittersweet twist in the middle and in the end, the book will have you leaning on your chair, gasping for air as if you feel that you may be next to Dachau. AS horrible as this story sounds, the true, honest friendship of Liselotte and Inge will always put a smile and tears on your face. Orgel also incorporates the culture of Austri and Vienna specifically into the story to create a more vivid, likely story and picture. If you're looking for a book that is a stretch from the average, I strongly suggest this story. The words have provided me with a new comprehension of Hitler and his victims. I truly enjoyed this book but it's bittersweet ending has me jerking back tears. Please read this book.
- In Vienna a town witch has been peaceful until the nazi come and invade it in this town there are two best friends inge and lieselotte they have been friends since the first grade but there is a problem inge is a Jew and lieselotte is not but when lieselotte family has to move inge wants to stay friends but lieselottes dad and brothers are nazis and don't want them to stay friends but they are determined to keep there friendship alive.
- This book is about two girls named Inge Durienwoid and Liselatte Vessely. are best friends the kind of friends who almost always know what the other is thinking. but now they are thirteen and in it is 1937 in Vienna.Inge is Jewish and Liselotte. at there insistence of her Nazi Father is in the Hitler Youth thier friendship has become unwise even dangerous to sastain. now if you wont to know more about the book then you pick up the book at the libary and read i do recammened this book if you like reading about the holocaust like me.

3 comments about A Touch of the High Holidays: A Touch and Feel Book for Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot.
- The colorful artwork of Seva wonderfully enhances a charming and simple board-book text by Devorah Glazer that serves to introduce preschool children to Judaism's holiday observances and festivals including Tishrei, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, and Simchat Torah. Each page also features a tactile enhancement that will delight young pre-readers. A Touch Of The High Holidays is enthusiastically recommended for family, preschool, kindergarten, and day care board-book collections.
- What a wonderful way to introduce kids to this special time of year! The various sensations just makes everthing come to life!
- A Touch of the High Holidays is a novelty board book. It includes all the Jewish holidays that occur in the month of Tishri, from Rosh Hashanah to Simchat Torah. Two page spreads describe several aspects of each holiday before settling on one that is reinforced by something to touch. Feel the many textures of our holidays - the stickiness of honey, the smoothness of a machzor cover, the bumpiness of an esrog, and the velvety softness of a Torah cover. Best of all, children will see themselves in a sukkah. Definitely a hands-on winner.

3 comments about Lucky O'Leprechaun.
- We really enjoyed this book and recommend it to all people, especially the Irish and people who love the mythology of the "Wee Folk"! The faces are wondefully drawn and kids will love the ingenuity of the children in the book. A magical delight people the world over should love!
- First-rate illustrations are the best feature of this book. The story is entertaining but can be long for 4 and 5 year-olds.
The story faults, in that it employs too many characters with no character development, which adds unnecessary confusion and clutter to the story. There is a little boy (Sean) and girl (Meghan), three very old ladies (the children's aunties), and a leprechaun exchanging dialogue in the same 1 or 2 pages, at different points throughout the book. As a parent reading to a child, who wants to present a different voice for each character so that the child can easliy identify who is speaking in the story, there are too many characters talking, but with no distinguishing personalities to make understanding easier. However, the story is somewhat entertaining despite its flaws.
- Do you believe in leprechauns? Well, this is a great book for kids who believe in leprechauns! The books title is Lucky O' Leprechaun. This book was written and illustrated by Jana Dillon. This book took place in Louisiana.
This book is about two children, Sean and Meghan, and their Aunties' are looking for very sly leprechauns during St. Patrick's Day. There are some interesting parts about this book. There is one type of language in this book. The language is English. But, there is some Irish dialect. There are very large pictures in this book as well. But, the pictures don't have very vivid colors. Lucky O' Leprechaun (A leprechaun) says "Top of the morning to you," many times. Sean and Meghan have three aunts helping them. There names are Moira, Kathleen, and Bridget. But there are many freaky things about this book as well. First, the eyes look pretty weird when you keep staring at them. They look like big bulging eyes. Most of all there are two annoying little leprechauns that keep saying "Top of the morning to you." So, it gets a little annoying. When you read it about five times it gets boring. Also when you look at the pictures too many times you will see the same color in your eyelid. But, despite the weird things, I would totally recommend this book! I would rate this book a 3 out of 5. So, for all you children who like St. Patrick's Day read this book! You can check this book at a library or a book store. So enjoy this book whenever you want to. I recommend this book for K-2. So be lucky and for all you know you might find a pot of gold

2 comments about It's Shofar Time!.
- This is the sixth and final addition to the author's excellent Holiday Time series, just in time for Rosh Hashanah! As in the other titles, (It's Challah Time! It's Seder Time! etc.) Tod Cohen's full-color photos capture the joyousness of the children as they learn to celebrate the holiday wearing new clothes, making Jewish New Year's cards for their families, tasting new foods such as pomegranates and star fruits, and blowing the shofar. The sounds of the shofar are explained in easy, understandable terms for this young age level. The children are also shown learning such things as tying their shoes and writing their names. The brief amount of text on each page and very appealing children pictured learning to make round challot and blow the shofar make this just right for using with pre-schoolers, their parents, and in the classroom. Included is an easy shofar craft and a brief paragraph about Rosh Hashanah. Recommended for all Jewish libraries. Ages: 4-6. Reviewed by Andrea Davidson
- This installment in the photo essay series by Kropf and Cohen centers on the holiday of Rosh Hashanah. The children blow the shofar, create New Year's cards, bake round challah, dip apples in honey, see the Torah dressed in white, and perform tashlich. The text also refers to the New Year as a time to learn new things, try new things, and set goals for the coming year. Instructions for making a shofar craft project are included along with a brief note about Rosh Hashanah. Like the other editions in this series (It's Challah Time, It's Sukkah Time, It's Hanukkah Time, It's Seder Time, and It's Purim Time), It's Shofar Time will be appreciated by Jewish nursery school teachers and their students.
