5 comments about The Wheels on the Bus (Books with Holes).
- My 13 month old daughter loves this book and likes to listen as I sing along when we read this book. She also likes to poke her fingers through the holes and has a great time. Overall a good book.
- Very nice illustrations. Every time my baby reads it she notices some new character and thats very exciting for her. Each page is packed with action.
- This book was a super choice for my 13 month old grand daughter. When she comes over, she goes for this book and she studies each page as I sing the words to her.
- My daughter aged 2, loves this book, she sings along and loves turning the pages and looks forward to the party at the end.
- I bought this book for my 16 month old grandson......he just loves it and when I ask him to bring me a book to read to him he most often pick this one out of all his book.
Great Choice.

1 comments about Megan in Maine : Summer Surprises (Story House Dolls).
- I liked the way soft dolls and doll house settings were used in portraying this story. The photographs were lovely. The softness of the dolls added to the gentle feel of the story.
Megan, a pre-teen lives in rural Maine near the Atlantic Ocean. Bright and musically endowed, she entertains herself by playing the harmonica when she isn't helping her parents run their Bed & Breakfast. Money is often hard to come by, so she learns to scrimp and save and enjoy the visiting travelers. She also has good friends in the area.
One visitor makes a surprise splash into Megan's life. Ten-year-old Sylvia presents behavior that is classic or Kanner's autism. She does not speak nor show any discernible response to anything or anybody in her environment; much to Megan's dismay, Sylvia shows no interest in her black poodle.
Determined to find a window of interest, Megan plays the harmonica for her. Sylvia takes an immediate interest, so Megan gives it to her. That is the most interaction she can elicit from her summer guest.
When Sylvia and her family depart for Boston to keep an appointment they made with an autism specialist, they thank Megan for her gift and are astounded as Sylvia teaches herself how to play it. The reward Megan receives far exceeds her wildest dreams.
A nice, gentle story that makes no promises and does a fairly good job of portaying Kanner's autism. I like the way Megan accepted Sylvia and was a little surprised that Sylvia's parents confided in her to the extent that they did. All in all, a good story.

1 comments about Fiesta Fireworks (1-2).
- This delightful book gives a wonderful glimpse into the Mexican culture of fireworks, as seen by a little girl whose family are deeply involved in that culture. As a fireworks professional, I appreciated this warm and sympathetic view of fireworks. When people ask why I am involved in fireworks, I get out this book and show them the picture on the cover. Fireworks is the only way I know to put that expression of joy and awe onto the faces of children. A truly wonderful book, which captures that wonder.

1 comments about There Goes Lowell's Party.
- When Lowell's birthday dawns with a red sky, Lowell's siblings, Earl and 'retta Sue, take such delight in predicting foul weather and the cancellation of the birthday celebration. But in raucous tall tale tradition, Lowell imagines the many ways his far-flung relatives will find to get to the party. Rogers' exuberant art is the perfect accompaniment to this original tale that highlights weather lore based on scientific fact and begs to be read aloud in a down-home accent. Bravo!

3 comments about Touch and Feel: Birthday (Touch and Feel).
- I was hoping this book would be spectacular due to the high ratings of other DK touch-and-feel books. I was disappointed to find that the range of textures are pretty small....and just not as exciting or realistic as other books we have. I'd stick with bigger books with more on each page that don't cost much more, such as the touch-and-feel books put out by the author of the Baby Einstein series.
- I bought a bunch of these to give away as favors to the little ones at my son's first birthday. Cute book- especially for birthdays! But, I wish it had more pages. Very short.
- The text is boring, the pictures are uninspiring, and the textures are bland (and sometimes repetitive).
Nobody in the family ever got into it, not as babies or toddlers.
I would not buy it again if I had a chance.

5 comments about Sam and the Lucky Money.
- my three year old loves this and I do too! it is a great book to share at Xmas as well. The pictures are wonderful and we are giving it to nursery school as part of Chinese New Year celebration.
- I cry almost every time I read this book to my 5 1/2 year-old daughter, who is from Hunan. She doesn't...but I do...and we've been reading it for over a year now. I'm hoping she learns compassion and generosity from the story, which it teaches so beautifully in both words and rich illustrations.
- Read for a pre-k school Chinese New Year celebration and for a kindergarten celebration and all children were very attentive and interested in the story. Also has a good moral message to about giving.
- Great for pre-schoolers to learn about giving and introduce them to Chinese New Year Celebration. Read the book to 3 year olds at a pre-school. Everyone was very attentive. Kids got the message, learnd about giving and appreciation, as well as were introduced to Asian culture. Recommend to ages 3-7.
- Everyone loves this book; mothers, teachers and of course, children. Many books about Chinese New Year are non-fiction books that describe the customs of the holiday. What makes this different is that this is a piece of fiction that gives you all the flavors of what it's like in an urban Chinatown during Chinese New Years while at the same time sending a wonderful message of giving. My 3 and 5 year old love this book. My 5 year old's kindergarten teacher loved the book for the same reasons plus it fostered discusssions about the story and the holiday. A class of 18 children sat quietly; listening attentively. The children found the illustrations fascinating. The teacher even loaned our book to another kindergarten teacher. I'm online because I'm getting them their own copy.

1 comments about Happy Birthday, S-U-B-B-Y! (Squeak-and-Go).
- From the age of six months my son loved to hold this book and squeak the little toy in the center.
The text is easy and rhythmic and the illustrations fit nicely with the squeak toy in the center. My son loves looking at the cartoons of fish and other undersea creatures almost as much as he loves squeaking the toy. He recognizes the symbol used to indicate time to squeak the toy and sometimes even does it at the right time. All in all, I'm very impressed with this book as both a toy and a book. It has been loved to death in our house and I'm anxiously looking for a new copy.
