2 comments about Biscuit Loves Mother's Day (Biscuit (Paperback)) (Biscuit).
- Another Biscuit holiday flap book that gets right to the point. This time it is Mother's Day and The-Girl-In-Purple-Sneakers and Biscuit are going to make it a special day for Mom and show how much they care. Gifts are made, Mom seeps in, and a special breakfast in bed are just the beginning of Mom's special day.
The book is packed with the typically adorable artwork that has been a backbone to the Biscuit series. The end flaps reveal what Biscuit is up to in his usual puppyish ways. All in all another good holiday book that is attractive and fun to read.
- I believe that all the Biscuit books are written very well and I know that my child loves them all. This book shows how the little girl and her dog Biscuit prepare for Mother's Day. It is written very well and I would recommend it to anyone with small children.

4 comments about Gooney Bird and the Room Mother.
- Gooney Bird Greene is a precocious second grader who loves to be "right smack in the middle of everything." Gooney has her own colorful and unusual sense of fashion, which includes wearing mismatched socks, elbow-length gloves, straw hats with flowers and silver wet-look ski pants. Her high-spirited personality stands out when she's telling her "absolutely true" stories, and she has no problem being the center of attention. This is a youngster with incredible self-esteem.
Gooney Bird also shares a few challenging vocabulary words with her class and obtains dictionaries for every class member so they can check out the meaning of new words.
Mrs. Pidgeon's class also needs a room mother. But with all the children's parents otherwise occupied, no parents are prepared to bring cupcakes to the Thanksgiving pageant. Gooney Bird promises to find a room mother if she is given the lead in the Thanksgiving pageant. There is also another rule: The room mother will remain incognito.
The suspense builds as we wait to learn if the Thanksgiving pageant is a success and who is the mysterious room mother.
Gooney Bird and the Room Mother is a charming book that 6-to-10-year-olds will read again and again. Gooney Bird is comical; her teacher is every child's dream teacher. And the room mother, well you'll have to read the book to learn about the room mother.
- Advanced elementary to early middle school readers will relish Lois Lowry's Gooney Bird And The Room Mother telling of Gooney Bird Greene, who likes to be the center of attention most of the time. Her roles are changing as she enter second grade, leaving her in doubt about her future roles - and a mysterious Room Mother. Black and white drawings by Middy Thomas embellish the second Gooney Bird story, which needs no introduction to prove intriguing.
- Gooney Bird Green is in search of the perfect room mother for her second grade class. The teacher has set up a contest. The person who finds the class a room mother will get to be Squanto in the Thanksgiving play. Join Gooney Bird in her search. You will be surprised to find out who she finds to fill the role!
The book was very funny.
I would recommend this book. It's a must read for all Lois Lowry Fans.
- I loved Gooney Bird Greene and so did my class of second graders. This one was less exciting. I had high hopes for it because we study Sqaunto. We will read it next year and I am sure we will learn to use our dictionaries like GB's class.

1 comments about Happy Mother's Day, Mami!.
- Happy Mother's Day, Mami! tells the story of Dora finding the ingedients she needs in order to make a special Mother's Day cake for her Mami. There are 3 recipe cards laid out, and Dora asks the reader "Do you see the recipe card that has bananas, nuts, and chocolate?"
Dora doesn't have the needed ingredients, so with the help of trusty Map, she ventures to the Banana Grove, through the Nutty Forest, and finally arrives at the Chocolate Tree. Along the way, she encounters her friends Boots, Tico the squirrel, Benny the bull, and Isa the iguana...all who have created beautiful presents for their Mothers in celebration of El Dia de las Madres.
Of course, no Dora story would be complete without sneaky Swiper the fox trying to swipe something...and in this case, it's Isa's bouquet of flowers that she's about to give to her Mom for Mother's Day.
Dora brings back the needed ingredients, and her papi (father) helps mix the batter for the special cake. Mami thinks the cake tastes delicioso!
This fun story teaches children several Spanish words, including how to count one through six in Spanish. In fact, the inside front cover features a chart featuring 13 English words, the Spanish term, and the Spanish pronunciation of each.

1 comments about Mother's Day.
- I read this book to my class for Mothers Day. We visit Mrs Madoffs class as we have just about every holiday. (I want to be in her class, she is so nice)! The children discuss the different ways that they will celebrate the holiday, making breakfast, snuggling, and various other ways. The children were asked to bring in a button for class. The children used the button to make a tissue paper flower as a gift. The book gives step by step directions. As always Anne deals with the difficulties of the holday with a student who was celebrating with her grandmother as her mother had passed away. The craft is really cute, the children and mothers spent lots of time picking out their button and had little stories about why they chose that button. Mom's didn't know what the button was for and were so surprised that it was to make a flower. Really great!

5 comments about The Mother's Day Mice.
- This is another heart warming story. It shows how much love there is for family and what family will do to do something special for the people they love. The mice were searching for special gifts for Mother Mouse on Mother's day..... and Little Mouse found the most wonderful gift of all!!! I think it's a very sweet book on how much family will do for each other. It tells what the little mice had to do to get their mother their own special present for a special day.
- I thought that this story is an excellent story for young children and their mothers to read together. This story about three, cute little mice is precious. They want to find the perfect present for their mother. The Little Mouse is the sweetest character I have read about in a while. They pass some dangerous situations as they search the meadow for the gifts. The surprise at the end of the story will make you so happy, that'll you'd do that for your mother! The story is a very cute story to read, especially around Mother's Day. The illustrations in it are very, very well done and the mice are the cutest mice ever!
- Favorite characters: Biggest Little Mouse, Middle Mouse, Little Mouse, and Mother
This book is about three mice who want to each get their mother a gift for Mother's Day. Each mouse wants to get the best gift, but it ends up being the littlest mouse who gets her the most unusual gift of all. A nice book illustrated with colorful pictures that show these three little mice along their journey for presents. A nice story that shows how to share your love for your mother on Mother's Day.
- Though I like the idea of this book, as well as the talent behind the illustrations, after reading this to my children and seeing their anxiety about the huge, menacing black cat that scares the mice, my husband and I have decided not to read this anymore to them. The mouse family is sweet, and the intent of the story is admirable, with the littlest mouse giving his mother a thoughtful gift for Mother's Day. I understand that most plots have some type of conflict that is resolved, but we discovered that the cat in this book was too scary for young children. There is a full-page illustration of this cat's scary face and head which is unnecessary, I believe, to make this story a success. We absolutely love reading stories to our children, and in fact, don't watch T.V. as we want books to be a bigger part of their lives. I understand that some people value exposing their children to scariness in books as a way to explain these things in the safety of their home, but sometimes images can remain in a child's mind for a long time, and if it comes from a contrived situation, such as in a fictional story, the child may find it harder to reconcile within the context of real life. We found that our children had a hard time appreciating the point of the story, because they were too thrown by the big, black cat. These happen to be children who live on a farm and have a pet cat themselves! They've dealt with real-life "scariness" such as the death of animals, nearby sightings of bears, foxes and other wild animals...etc., but all of these fit within the context of their lives. I books, they seem to appreciate images and text that work well together-in this case, the cat is bigger than life.
- The story is ok, good even - three little mice wake up early to find their mother presents for Mother's Day. But the real joy of this one is the pictures - very detailed and fun to look at.

1 comments about Clifford's Happy Mother's Day (Clifford).
- Ever wonder how Clifford came to be Emily Elizabeth's special pet pal? Or what Clifford's mother was like? Well this book will tell you. It explains that Clifford came from an apartment next door to Emily Elizabeth, and it also describes Clifford's first Mother's Day adventure; an episode where he thwarts Emily's plans but everything comes out all right after a little creative thinking.
Four Stars. [B-]. Good Read-aloud. This book tells two separate stories: how Clifford came to be in Emily Elizabeth's family, as well as how Clifford celebrated his first Mother's Day. Artwork is the original by the author, and not like that of the television show.

1 comments about I Like Noisy Mom Likes Quiet: A Mother's Day Story.
- Written by Eileen Spinelli and illustrated by Lydia Halverson, I Like Noisy Mom Likes Quiet is a lighthearted picturebook about a racoon mother and son. The mother likes quiet activities, such as drying the cat on the porch, and the son loves nothing more than making lots of noise! But one day the noisy boy does his best to tiptoe and whisper all day long, because he wants nothing more than for his mother to enjoy Mother's Day just as she wants. The playful, humorous and finely detailed color illustrations bring this charming family story to life.

4 comments about Henry and Mudge and the Funny Lunch Level 2 Reader (Henry and Mudge Ready-to-Read).
- With this Level 2 focus on independent reading skills, kids will more readily move from beginning reader to enjoying more complex tales with paragraphs and short chapters. What better place to start than with Henry and Mudge & The Funny Lunch, Cynthia Rylant's zany story of kids determined to put together the best Mother's Day lunch ever ? against all odds?color drawings add to the appeal.
- Another Henry and Mudge... we love the series (have everything offered in paperback), but this one wasn't quite up "Henry and Mudge and the Green Time" or "Henry and Mudge and the Happy Cat". My son, nevertheless, wants to make me a funny lunch next Mother's Day. If you love the series, get it. If you are new to Henry and Mudge, start with some of the first books in the series.
- The attractivness of this story is the special bond that has occurred with Henry and his family. He is so excited about Mothers Day "knowing" that he and dad will take a secret trip to get something special for mom. Arriving home they creatively make something together, that they think mom will just love! Mudge and his appetite just enhance the humor that makes this an all around fun story.
- Henry and his Dad enjoy some bonding time when they take Mudge to the market so they can pick out some special goodies. It's Mothers' Day, and it's time to prepare a special meal for Mom -- a fabulously funny lunch!
Kids will laugh with delight as the special meal with hilariously named courses is prepared by the family, and might just be inspired to prepare a funny lunch of their own.
Henry and Mudge and the Funny Lunch will be read by your child over and over again.

5 comments about I Love My Mama.
- Toddlers and Preschoolers will identify with the little elephant and how he enjoys the mom's company through the different activities of the day. It's a good book to reflect on the blessing of families. Good bedtime story. Beautiful illustrations.
- My 2 year old and I read this every night. It is a wonderful book and we look forward to it every night.
- We have been reading this story to our 2 year old daughter since she was 2 months old and it's still her favorite book. She now recites the words as I flip through the pages - this book has definitely left an impression. Additionally, the pictures are colorful and fun! It's such a sweet story about the fun a mother and child have together, and the special bond the two share. I'm sure your little one will love this story just as much as mine does!
- My son -loves- elephants so it would be hard for this book to be a miss. The illustrations are beautiful.
- My 3-year old daughter loves the story so much that she reads it over and over again until she is able to recite. This is an excellent book that helps mommy and child bond. Highly recommended!
