5 comments about Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town/The Little Drummer Boy.
- I was a bit stunned to see that this first appeard on TV in 1970. I could have sworn I watched it in the 1960's alongside Rudolph and Charlie Brown.
In anycase this is one of those great Rankin & Bass stop motion animated films detailing the life of Santa Claus from the time he was just a baby. The story is told by a friendly postman voiced by Fred Astaire.
Santa is taken in by the Kringles a family of toymakers and once he grows into a young man he begins delivering the toys to the children of Sombertown.
This earns him the status of public enemy #1 from the towns Burgomeister who has outlawed all toys and Kris must think of more secret methods to get the toys to the children.
Along the way we see how Kris gets the name Santa clause, his red suit, flying reindeer, and how the night for delivering toys was chosen.
Mickey rooney voices Kris/Santa and does so with gusto. But Keenan Wynn is the standout as his gruff, but sweet portrayal of the Winter Warlock.
The film also features some great songs such as the title sung by Astaire and "Put one foot in front of the Other".
Over 30 years later I now watch this one with my kids and still enjoy it. But get it on DVD since so much is cut out today to make room for commercials.
- I watched these Rankin and Bass Christmas productions on TV when I was a child and I loved them, I especially like The Little Drummer Boy which is narrated by Greer Garson and is a beautiful heart-stirring story about the true meaning of Christmas! Santa Claus is Coming to Town is good too about how this boy grew up to became Santa Claus and I highly recommend this DVD set!
- Rankin-Bass presentations (from full-length films like The Hobbit and The Last Unicorn to their classic Christmas specials) are legendary. They might seem a bit out-of-date compared to today's high-tech standards of animation, but Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town (presented in claymation style) still retains the innocent exhuberance it had since it was first televised in the late 60s. The Little Drummer Boy is a lesser known holiday claymation by Rankin-Bass, but tells an interesting take on the Christmas story. These two movies, along with Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, Frosty, Jack Frost, etc., are classics of Christmastime--enjoyable for people of all ages!
- The DVD includes two classics for almost the same price as one. Also, Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town includes the full length version that is not seen on television any more because of commercials. On TV there are two scenes deleted that you will get on this DVD.
- Warm blankets, rocket jammies and hot chocolate. This film brings back all the memories of childhood while at the same time creating new ones for a new generation!

1 comments about Almost Home For The Holidays.
- A Home for the Holidays is your basic Christmas music with beautiful winter and Chrismas scenes. The scenes are set to beautiful piano Christmas songs like Joy to the World, Silent Night, Away in a Manager, Hark the Herald Angels Sings and many more. The scenery includes majectics snow covered landscapes, sleigh rides, classic home scenes and more.
The run time is only 30 minutes, however there is a great option on the dvd menu that allows you to loop the content.
At 5.99, you cannot be disappointed. This will be great for the entire holiday season as this music and scenery warm the heart.
Therefore, I highly recommend the product.

5 comments about Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
- Highly enjoyable for parents and kids. Amazing to think this is twenty years old. Fantastic filmaking!
- This movie is a cartoon bonanza mixed with live action. A ridiculous and roller coaster spoof of the 1940's film noir genre. Cleverly written and executed in so many ways. This a movie the whole family can enjoy.
There are many toons (cartoons) here borrowed from the likes of Disney, Looney Toons etc. You have the typical plot with bad guys the weasels and the good guys Eddie Valiant and Roger. Of course, along with the action you get understated adult humor that children will not get until older. Aside from a few sight gags, the most notable example is the extremely sexy and curvy Jessica Rabbit who says, "I'm not bad, I'm only drawn that way". Shades of Lauren Bacall and Veronica Lake. This why this movie will appeal to everyone. Even to those who they try to frame in real life.
The action and energy here keeps you interested throughout. And the cliff-hanging situation of Jessica and Roger will have you biting your nails. I won't give away the plot. But that is not the main thing. It is the world they have created here and certainly the unforgettable characters.
It is more than a good time. It's one of the reasons we watch movies in the first place. Much fun and recommended.
- I am a huge fan of Roger Rabbit! It was great ordering products from this company. Not only did I get it in one piece but it still had all the origional stuff inside. I will definately order from this company again.. Thank you!!!
- The quality of the film itself isn't in debate; this DVD is a very nice set for any fan. The special features are great, it comes with some nice touches like nice packaging and design. You can tell they put a lot of effort into it. It's not cheap or a cop-out in any way. I bought it for my boyfriend as a present and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for this movie.
- This is a very inventive, technically brilliant cartoon. It has a lot of incredibly funny scenes and a great many superb comic in jokes.
For the time this was made, the special effects are stunning. This is a great piece of entertainment.

5 comments about Christmans Series.
- This movie was so touching. It was a great story and my 6 year old daughter loved this movie!!
- They are huge Holly Hobbie fans. I haven't sat down to watch this movie with them but they watched it a lot at Christmas time and even several times since then.
- This is a really nice story where the characters do thougthful things for one another, helping out a family who lost their father since the previous Christmas (so if your recipients had this happen recently you might want to preview the movie or skip it until more time has passed).
There is a religious element to the movie, which you don't see in movies these days. They sing some Christian Christmas songs and Leanne Rhimes voice is beautiful (as is the other female singer... I can't remember her name... but she's just as wonderful as Leanne).
My girls are 4 and 6 and they love this movie as well as the previously released DVD. We're looking forward to the preview for the next Holly Hobbie DVD coming out in Feb. 2007. I love the Holly Hobbie movies because the characters are positive role models for children and reinforce the importance of being thoughtful and kind to one another.
- My girls love this movie! They are three and two, and this is all they want to watch since it came in the mail two weeks ago. The story is cute, and well written. I love that they describe the Christmas season as celebration of the birth of Jesus which it is.(They put that in the pagent parts), but still included some silly santa stuff. My husband and I have watched it with them, and we laugh at the same times they do. They also show the discription of a loss of a loved one, and how people deal with that kind of event emotionally. I appreciated that they described this all very clearly and beautifully in a way that my little girls can understand. Good family movie.
- My granddaughter has watched this movie many times. Even when it isn't christmas. I think all young kids should watch this movie. It teaches them all about helping other people and sharing. It's a really great movie.

5 comments about Teletubbies - Christmas in the Snow.
- My ONLY complaint about this video is that it is so long. Two videos is a little bit much in my opinion.
The positives are that this video is typical of all Teletubbie videos. There are short segments that provide good stopping points with little shows between the Teletubbies shows. They are fun and gentle and encourage hugs and respect. They are fun. My young daughter, who is 2 still likes Teletubbies. My son, who is 4, has recently outgrown the Teletubbies. So that might provide potential buyers of an age range (0-3/4) when buying this video. Enjoy.
- We are big fans of the Teletubbies in our house, so to find a holiday DVD for our daughter was really a treat. In this installment of Tubby bliss, the Teletubbies are introduced to snow for the first time. Their adventures, from 'sliding' down hills to making a 'Snow Tubby', are a hit with my daughter, and the snipets of 'Christmases from Around the World' are interesting for us all to see. And there's a bonus segment of 'Teletubbies Everywhere', which always draws smiles. We found this to be a nice diversion from the 'usual' Tubby stuff...:).
- We bought Teletubbies Christmas in the Snow a few weeks ago for our 15 month old (13.5 months adjusted-preemie)...Figured it would be the typical teletubbies fare-which it was- but once again it explored many cultures and their handling of Christmas...My husband and I both loved watching the various Christmas activities of other nationalities...Really cool stuff! We may incorporate some into our next holiday celebration aside from our existing italian and german traditions...Oh and my little guy just loved it!
- My children adore the teletubbies and watching them play in the snow is great fun (especially since we live in the South and don't see much snow). We are fans of all the teletubbies videos!
- I absolutely love this DVD because it has so many entertaining clips that differ from the rest of the series because of the unique snowy environment. My daughter loves to watch the Tubbies go sliding down a snowy hill and build a snow Tubby. The clips of real children around the world celebrating Christmas are also a lot of fun, and the music from those clips is carried through the rest of the video.

1 comments about Jessye Norman at Christmas.
- Phillips should be commended for pairing Jessye Norman's two holiday concerts on one DVD. I never had the chance to acquire LaserDisc, nor the VHSs of either concert, so having them together here is a plus.
The video quality is good without being exceptional - not too much difference from A&E cable years ago. There's a "being there" quality to these concerts. The music making is top-notch with chorus, orchestra, musical leadership and arrangements that are light years away from the typical embarassing big opera star holiday concert on video. Madame Norman is at the prime of herself vocally, emotionally involved, and musical throughout.
It's nice to see Notre Dame again, even on video. I attended a Sunday organ concert close to the Christmas Holidays years ago, and I'll never forget it.

1 comments about Sin You Sinners/Dance Hall Racket.
- An aging stripper wields great powers over others with the aid of a mysterious amulet in SIN, YOU SINNERS.
The word `aging' seems a kind way to put it. By the look of things, Mama's 30-year-lease on middle age is about to expire soon, although that fact doesn't seem to threaten her hold over manager Dave and her daughter. Nor, saints preserve us, does it stop her from grinding and bumping every 15 minutes or so.
Dave, Mama's bought and paid for boy toy, is her manager and bongo drum accompanist when she's plying her second trade as an amulet waving spiritualist who specializes in bilking the rich. Dave also has the hots for the daughter, and the 20-something daughter has the hots for Dave, but neither can unrage a hormone whilst Mama wears the amulet. Even though Mama, saints preserve us, gets to shimmy and shake in her skimpy bikini with the fringe on top, this isn't really a blue movie. Beyond awful, I don't know what it is or how to explain it.
The second howler on this dvd, the reason I picked it up in the first place, is the Lenny Bruce scripted and starring vehicle (the only real movie he was ever in) DANCE HALL RACKET. This one is about a dance hall bilking its customer and the hall's dancing girls bilking the management. Bruce is a revered by stand up comedians as an edgy, topical, pioneering genius of the first order. That may all be so, but his first scripting credited movie doesn't bear it out. No stand up, no jokes, no ha-ha in this one. It stinks.
It doesn't help that the transfer print was in pretty bad shape, and at some point between 1953 and today someone clipped out all the brief nudie shots in the girls' dressing room. Losing the quick peeks is no big deal, but it fouls up the soundtrack and dialogue and renders some conversations even more ridiculous than I imagine they'd be otherwise.
Two stinkers for the price of one. Not recommended as entertainment, although this is probably the best chance you have to see a walking and talking Lenny Bruce. If that doesn't do it for you, avoid this dvd like the plague.
