5 comments about Christmas Wife.
  1. The Christmas Wife has been one of my all time favorite movies for over 10 years now and I never get tired of watching it.
As a matter of fact I watch it at least 3 times every Christmas season and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes good sentimental movies.

  2. This has remained the movie to laugh about. It's such a horrible movie with no plot. In the end, nothing happens. There is no action, no drama, and no comedy. What's left? Nothing. Watching grass grow would be more action filled than this sleeper.

  3. Sweet, sentimental movie that intrigued my youngest three children and disappointed them at the end. They wanted the traditional happy ending. The mystery kept my husband and I curious and wondering, too. It is a well made film for people not jaded by video games and fast action flicks. It made me think quite a bit afterwards, about marriage, family, and loyalty.

  4. Thanks for making the gift search so easy! I'll be back for other great buys!

  5. This is an excellent Christmas classic starring Jason Robards and Julie Harris, and brilliantly directed by David Hugh Jones. The story is about a widower named John Tanner (Jason Robards) who uses an escort service to find a Christmas companion with the stipulation that the woman must be about his age, and they sleep in different bedrooms, at a service fee of $500. The service provider (Don Francks), since his assistant is gone for the holidays, and he doesn't have access to the file, promises to provide him with a list of names to choose from. When John Tanner is called by the agency to meet the service provider at a hotel guest area, Tanner is reluctant but agrees, and then he learns that the woman named Iris (Julie Harris) wanted to see him incognito from a distance before she wants to go with him. Eventually the two meet and set a date and time to be picked up at a local bus stop and then drive to the secluded family cabin next to a lake.

Iris is beautiful, about the same age as John Tanner, nervous, quiet, and mysterious. She appears to be a reluctant participant in his company and refuses to answer any questions, which deepens the mystery. The Christmas eve is somewhat uneasy for both of them but the Christmas day gets better than expected. When John is getting to enjoy the company, she announces that the date is finished and would like to go home and she doesn't want to visit him again. It is at the end the viewers come to know that she is in fact married to the service provider and the idea behind this farce was to earn the badly needed service fee of $500 to pay their family bills. Both Julie Harris and Jason Robards offer brilliant performances as the two "older couples" trying to spend Christmas together. This movie is reminiscent, to a certain extent, of another great classic "On Golden Pond." This is an excellent movie for viewing on Christmas day with your family and it is very highly recommended.

5 comments about Disney's Beauty and the Beast - The Enchanted Christmas.
  1. Those who watched Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" knew they were watching something special. The first Disney film ever to released on Platinum Edition DVD, that movie had a powerful and compelling story with a cast and musical numbers to match.

Set in the Beast's castle, back before the spell was broken, comes "Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas." Mrs. Potts takes readers back to this tale which begins on Christmas Eve. Christmas is coming and Belle couldn't be more excited. Little Chip is excited to hear the news of Christmas too, but when Belle starts planning a celebration, she's stopped in her tracks. It seems "the Master," Beast, has forbidden Christmas and the servants don't want to go along with her plan. Belle convinces them otherwise and even when the Beast rebels, she still goes ahead.

"Beauty and the Beast" is hard act to live up to and while this film isn't quite up to the same standard, it is still another great story and one I enjoyed watching. The original "Beauty and the Beast" featured a terrible villain, Gaston, and this film has one to match --- one that is perhaps even more terrifying. Forte was the musician in the castle and when the spell was placed on the castle, he was turned into a pipe organ. He now feels useful because his gloomy music seems to be the only thing that makes the Beast forget his hardships. So when he notices what's happening with Belle, he wants to put a stop to it and uses a little flute named Fife as his lackey. At first, Forte is a bit of a sympathetic character, for it's not hard not to sympathize with his worries of loneliness should the spell be broken. But when it seems like things are not going his way, Forte becomes truly horrifying.

As with "Beauty and the Beast," whose most memorable song matched its title, this film also has one song that stands out in particular --- "As Long As There's Christmas."

As long as there's Christmas, I truly believe / That hope is the greatest / Of the gifts we'll receive.

By the time you get done watching this video, you will have heard it four times --- twice sung by characters during the film and once during the closing credits, performed by Peabo Bryson ("Aladdin") and Roberta Flack. There is one final performance --- see below.

This special edition video release is close-captioned, recorded in SP mode and Hi-Fi stereo. Before the film starts, there are previews for other film, video and DVD releases, including Miramax's "Pinocchio" and Disney's "Lilo and Stitch" (which has been out for sometime now.) After the film, stay tuned for one more rendition of "As Long As There's Christmas," a pop version performed by PLAY.

This is a film worth adding to lineup of holiday specials. It really does capture the Christmas spirit and is essential viewing for "Beauty and the Beast" fans.

  2. Doing a "prequel" to the Disney classic was a hard act to follow, and it shows. The animation here is competent but fails to dazzle like the original, the villain is too droll, and there are no memorable songs. Since computer-animated fare have taken over the theatre staples, Disney has turned toward the direct-to-video market, and unfortunately, knocked off some rather lame sequels to their classic animated films.
If you want a great film, then stick to the original "Beauty and the Beast". Better luck next time, guys!

  3. We rented this film because my daughter is obsessed with "Beauty and the Beast." Her favorite character is Chip, and he features huge in this sequel, so she was interested throughout the entire movie and wanted to watch it over and over. I played Scrooge, however, and returned the copy immediately without a second viewing. In my opinion, this video is far too scary for little kids and too dark for a Christmas movie. The songs are forgettable, and the themes are way too mature for the younger set.

  4. My 2 year old LOVES Beauty and the Beast, so I thought this would be a great movie for her. I was very disappointed with this movie. The beginning half is fairly cute, but Belle does a horrible job at singing the songs. The second half of the movie is very dark and the organ character is too much. The "Don't Fall in Love" song by the organ is absolutely horrible and dumb. I don't think the movie stayed true to the beast's character either. They made him a little too angry this time. He throws Belle in the dungeon and tells her that she will rot there forever. I still gave this three stars because my daughter was entertained, but I don't really like her watching it. I don't recommend buying this movie.

  5. Two words: absolutely enchanting.

I was looking through customer reviews for my old favorite Disney films, and I saw all of the unfavorable reviews for this title.

This follow-up to the classic Disney film is just as fun and magical as the original.

Enchanting songs and the same characters, plus a few new ones, make this a classic for kids and adults alike.

    Wonderful.

5 comments about Blue's Clues - Blue's Big Holiday.
  1. I highly recommend this video. It shows Steve and Blue explaining the different types of winter holidays with guest stars. They do this in a manner that is educational and fun. My niece absolutely loves Blue and Steve!! They've made an exceptional video about winter holidays. Adults every where can enjoy this video too!

  2. o.k. i am a 13 year old person and i watch blues clues. sad. i think this is a cute show and my parents think its educational. the series teaches you every thing from math to social skills. it also chalenges kids to take three clues and put them together. for you parents that have a toddler, get this movie and all the others. they're great!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I thought that the vidio was great. It teaches kids a little about the way that different religions spend the holiday season, and that they may know some kids that do celebrate those holidays. It also teaches kids to bundle up to play out side, share with their friends, and have fun.

  4. My 16 month old daughter has been watching Blue's Clues since she was 6 months old. It is the only show we watch, which of course means I have to buy all of the tapes!! Without Steve, because that is her main interest in the show, I would never get anything done. I, personally, am so sick of the show it's pathetic but she loves it. It goes on the minute she wakes up until the minute she goes to sleep. I think that says a lot in itself. As much as I've grown to hate Blue's Clues, she has learned a lot from it. It is educational and entertaining at the same time. Take it from a 16 month old, she knows what she likes and Blue's Clues tops her list. It has replaced everything, even all of her toys! I just hope she outgrows it.

  5. My daughters received this video awhile back and love it. We usually get it out around Christmas, because they enjoy anything relating to winter holidays. They have learned a lot from this video, through Blue, Steve, and their friends. They enjoy learning in this manner, with familiar characters from Blue's show, as well as other videos and books. If you're looking for a fun way to teach your young ones about other holidays and customs, this is a wonderful tool. Even though we don't watch Blue's Clues as often as we used to, this is still a treasured favorite.

5 comments about Engelbert Humperdinck - Engelbert Live (Bonus CD).
  1. Even in the Autumn of his career he offers up such a fine piece of work. This is as much a delight to watch as it is to listen to. What a talent. Unchained Melody shows the range and gift he has delivered to the world through his songs for so long. You can't go wrong with this one.

  2. I BOUGHT THIS AFTERBUYING TOTALLY AMAZING (2006) WHICHIS JUST INCREDIBLE,Much better than hewas in 1995!Lots offlat notes, and i Dont care for Michelina at all.Not to take anythingaway from Enge, thisconcert has its moments, but after Totally amazing, i really see hes so much better with age.I was taken by surprise in the 1995interview how old heseems in comparison to his stage appearence. Make up magic i guess. He looks better now!All in all ill say again OK,Just ok, but dissapointing.Get Totally Amazing instead, you will be amazed. Skip this one.

  3. This was the first of five dvds by Engelbert I purchased! After seeing this I HAD to have all of them! Even tho a fan for 40 years its great to have all this in a collection to watch over and over! Loved the interview and purchased many copies as gifts to share his beautiful voice! Im glad these were available and truly hope there will be more soon.
My favorite song "Unchained Melody" was always done by Bobby Hatfield of The Righteous Brothers until I heard Enge sing it here! Now 'HE IS THE BEST" I had chills listening to his version! May God take care of this beautiful man and voice! Thanks for the availabilty here also!!

  4. Engelbert Humperdinck, a name synonymous with other greats like Andy Williams, Tom Jones etc. Dubbed the King of Romance, is especially true with an exceptional voice which undoubtedly takes you to another world altogether. This is the first DVD I have picked up of EH and find it extremely good. Most of the renditions of the songs are signature EH,but I was a little disappointed with the rendition of "the shadow of your smile". This is worth a buy as it also comes with the CD.

  5. Every Engelbert fan MUST have this video/CD!! This is absolutely one of THE most spectacular performances of his life; the ultimate, ROMANTIC evening with Engelbert! I have other videos, CD's, but this is definitely my most favorite! His voice is amazing! Superb!!!!
