  1. I really enjoyed watching this movie, it was so touching and brung out the true meaning of Love and Forgiveness. The acting was wonderful and on point.

  2. Ving Rhames & Alfre Woodard in the same movie why would it not be good. This movie will have you laughing and also touch your heart. Ving Rhames a cross-dresser and Alfre Woodard a recovering drug addict and her daughter Nikki are given shelter to by Holiday (Ving Rhames)Hard times fall on mother and daughter and Holiday is stuck in the middle trying to hold the small family together. Holiday has past issues of his own that he must face in order to help his new found friends.

  3. Love this movie. It shows how love is unconditional, between mother and child. How even a gay male figure can take on the mother and father role of a child.

  4. I've been looking for this movie for a very long time in the video store and no one had the movie, I asked friends and family about this and no one could help. When I purchased this computer, I was just messing around one day and stubled across your company. so I started browsing around to see what you have in the movie section of you list. I typed in this movie and I screamed. I finally found what I was looking for. This Movie is my most favorite movie in the world. I play this movie often. Thanks. I Love this Company, you guys have almost everything a person could want. thanks again.

  5. This movie was a favorite of ours so we wanted to purchase it, Ving Rhames as a cross dresser is not a pretty sight for the eyes but he did some very good acting.

5 comments about Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! / Horton Hears a Who!.
  1. I got this for my granddaughter and she loves it! she is a big Grinch Fan.
I would reccommend it for any viewing age.

  2. I'm looking for the original (60's or 70's) television version of Horton Hears a Who that have the songs and chants like "Boil that dustpeck..."
Is that the version of Horton that is on this?

  3. Some reviews talk about the color of the grinch. In the 50th Birthday Edition (2006) he is green not yellow. I love this film and I have been replacing all my VHS copies with DVDs. It had been several years since I'd seen the grinch. So, I torn open the package and popped it in and laughed like I'd never seen it. I love the remake with Jim Carrey, but nothing beats the original!

  4. When I was a child, I watched this film for the first time on TV. Now, I'm so glad in having this product on DVD and I watch it once and once again in Christmas time. There are new or modern versions for "The grinch" and also for "Horton" but I prefere these ancient films because they were the first and touched my heart.

  5. Dr. Seuss' classic holiday story was already adapted for the screen in a beloved animated version by Chuck Jones. This gratingly unfunny retread fails its predecessors in every way. It's just awful.

  1. This is one of the most gorgeous technicolor films ever. Director Rouben Mamoulian is second only to Vincente Minnelli when it comes to having an eye for color design. This film is a musical remake of
Eugene O'Neil's play "Ah, Wilderness!" The cast is first rate--Walter Huston, Mickey Rooney, Frank Morgan (a delight as always), Agnes Moorehead, and the lovely Gloria DeHaven, who is a
fine singer. The songs by Harry Warren and Ralph Blane aren't what
you could call tunes you'll sing after viewing the film; they help
advance the story in a way similiar to Meet Me in St. Louis. This
movie was filmed in 1946 but not released until 1948 when Rooney's MGM contract came to its end. A simple turn of the century family story--high school graduation, Fourth of July
celebration (a beautiful sequence), first love (and first taste
of alcohol) and paternal wisdom. The section with Rooney and
Marilyn Miller as a bar floozy whose look grows more lascivious
as he has his first drink is a triumph of color cinematography
design. If you love technicolor this is a must-see film.

  2. I really liked this musical. I admit it don't have much of a story line but it was throughly enjoyable. Especially Mickey Rooney...this was one of the very last movies he made for MGM. I guess the best part about this movie is waiting to see if his girlfriend Murial will ever kiss him. Of course I'm writing this review based on the fact that I'm very partial to Mickey Rooney. I don't think there is an actor a ever liked better. This movie is cute. My favorite song is The Stanley Steemer. Cute flick and if you are a Mickey Rooney fan you should see this one. ;)

  3. Most people dont have VHS anymore! We cant watch this movie on out Plasma tvs. Please re-master it on DVD so we too can enjoy it !!!

  4. This movie is a sad piece of cinema. I found it difficult to watch. The only reason I gave it two stars is the cast, but they can't save this film. The storyline is so then. They also seem to be taking bits from other musicals that were popular and meshing them all in to one. Also, Mickey Rooney is playing a 17 year old lovestruck high school graduate again! This entire film is unbelievable. There isn't a single song that catches the ear. Oh well, I guess this is one musical MGM got wrong.

  3. I watched this for the first time this afternoon (Christmas Eve) and found it amazing. Too bad it is not available in DVD. Vince is at his best, along with Amy Grant, Chet Atkins, the Tulsa Philharmonic, the Oral Roberts University Chapel Choir and others. Seeing it along with hearing the music adds to the enjoyment of these treasured traditional Christmas songs.

  4. This is a beautiful video. I love every minute of it. I am now buying it for a friend who saw Vince in concert and fell in love with him!!

  1. This movie was good, containing good characters, but Isn't sociaty tired of the Christmas Carol Plot? It has been done MANY Times. The Flintstones, The Muppets, All Dogs go to Heaven, 101 Dalmatians, and the list goes on..

The Story starts when Anita gets Fired by Cruella on Christmas Eve, making the Dearly's undable to pay for the Presents for the Dogs and Each other. Then Cruella is visited byt three ghosts (Played by Cute-as-a-button- Cadpig, Spot the Chicken, and Rolly).. and you know the rest.

  2. I think it is a good movie because Tara Strong played Spot the Chicken! That is the only reason I give it 5 stars. If she wasn't in it I would give it 3 stars!

  1. I thought that the movie had a lot of potential, but lacked a lot at the end. There was so much build up in the film about their son, and then it sort of fades away and...well, lets just say that it was quite disapointing near and at the end of the film. I think it could have been something very special, but having only the father understanding who the visitor really is, really takes away from the whole story.

  2. A wonderful, heart warming story. I cry good tears everytime I watch it.

  3. This is a sad and touching Christmas movie about a family who hasn't celebrated Christmas for years. They had stopped celebrating Christmas because only a couple of days before Christmas the last time they had their tree, and decorations up they had found out that their son had been killed in the Gulf War. It is several years later and their daughter may have cancer and a mysterious stranger shows up saying that he knew their son and he helps them to have faith and to rediscover the true meaning of Christmas and there is a nice surprise at the end of this movie. Get out the tissues or hankies for this one!

  4. This will truly get you inspired for the holidays. This movie takes you to an unbearable hurt that a family endures over the holidays and how they overcome it years later in a most miraculous holiday that turns their lives around. Truly inspiring and a must see.

  5. One of my favorite parts of the Christmas season are the television movies. They are sometimes sentimental and sappy. Those are my favorites. A Christmas Visitor is one of my recent favorites. The story of a family who has lost a son in the first Persian Gulf war is as relevant today as it would have been 20 years ago. This story is about healing and letting go. It is about family, hope and love. It is a beautifully-acted film with realistic characters and it is one that I look forward to seeing each Christmas season.

  1. I really enjoyed this one by Kitaro. The interesting style all his own mixed with the traditional Christmas hymns all together makes for one beautiful album. Kitaro is a man with an unusual talent, and it is so cool to relax to the soothing sounds of Christmas music.Especially KITARO style.

  2. I mean, as such. Look, a lot of electronic, instrumental prog, "space" music--what evurrr!--artists got lumped into this New Age category once the term was invented. Veteran artists like Vangelis and Kitaro, for example. It was a convenient way to pigeonhole them so that people knew what you were talking about--I did it, you did it, we all did it, right? The trouble was that it got them associated with the spiritual kitsch of New Age, a form of philosophical repudiation of the "stress" of the world, along with a mistrust of religion to help the soul. So a whole bunch of Christians, Jews and Muslims decided that the messed-up way their brethren approached the issue of the spiritual meant their faiths themselves were no longer valid. Geez, Islam has these fundamentalist extremists, Christianity has the Klan and David Koresh, yadda-yadda. Errnngh! Wrong answer. But hey, don't get me started. And when it comes to music, both Vangelis and Kitaro got their starts in early prog bands in their native lands, and decided that a look outside their native cultures would help them in a creative sense. They made that decision as musicians, hear what I'm saying? If Kitaro has always seemed "other-worldly" to the Westerner in the themes he uses, that's because he's Japanese, okay? On his other albums, listen to those synth lines and picture them done on shamisen or koto. And that cultural flavoring comes through on this Christmas album. Behind the signature Kitaro phrasing, these Holiday classics are basically played straight, as composed. That's not so unusual--look at the Harry Simeone treatment of "Little Drummer Boy" as contrasted with two different versions of it by Johnny Mathis. And now we have one by Kitaro. And there's an international flavor to this album overall. Kitaro reminds us of one thing we've forgotten--that our Holiday favorites are of diverse national origins. And he underscores that by organizing an international children's choir to do the vocals. It wouldn't be too shabby an idea for him to re-do this as a TV special the way he did with "One Enchanted Evening"--that one was a huge PBS hit. And that, my friends, is how a so-called "New Age" artist can do a Christmas album. He does it as a musician, not a philosophical zealot.

  3. Only kitaro can play and compose beutiful music like this, very relaxing and peaceful.releases all your tensions in your body and helps you to relax.

  4. the track list is correct
but the cd cover is wrong
    i own peace on earth

  5. I absolutely loved the CD Peace on Earth. One of my all time favorite holiday CD's in fact. However, none of the other reviews gave the whole picture of what I was getting.
I was quite surprised when I first watched the DVD and realized there would be no performance footage. There were some really nice still shots of footage that appeared to be Colorado "ish" in the winter time. Somehow, this really should have been mentioned. Also I admit to be disappointed that Great Spirit was not included in this collection.
I still love the music, but this DVD is basically a "video fireplace" to have on the big screen during the holiday season. I still give it 4 stars becuse it is the best of its kind. I got this DVD on Amazon marketplace for $7.20. Had I paid full price, I probably wouldn't have been as generous with the number of stars.
