5 comments about Angelina Ballerina - The Show Must Go On (Christmas in Mouseland).
- We recently purchased this DVD, it is a very nice story and entertaining! My daughter loved it!
- It's Christmastime in Mouseland, and everyone's favorite little ballerina, Angelina, is auditioning for the role of Cinderella in the ballet Cinderella Mouse and the Ugly Whiskers. Angelina is absolutely positive that she will get the coveted role, as she is the best dancer, but when horrible Priscilla Pinkpaws is chosen to play Cinderella, thanks to Angelina's fear of singing in public, and Angelina gets the less-important role of the Wicked Stepmouse, and storms off in a fit of temper, much to Miss Lily's disapproval. But when a toboggan race between Angelina and Priscilla turns bad, she realizes that thanks to her bad additude, the show will be cancelled, and knows that it's her who has to save the day, because, as we all know, the show must go on!
Fans of the ANGELINA BALLERINA book series, written by Katharine Holabird, and illustrated by Helen Craig, will relish in the screen version of the world's favorite little ballerina. Angelina is a fun, spunky character, and her friends, including Alice, and her little cousin, Henry, make the movie much better. While THE SHOW MUST GO ON is a fun holiday/ballet movie for children of all ages, it also teaches a lesson: you don't always get what you want, but you need to make the best of it. Parents will love the great message that THE SHOW MUST GO ON delivers, and children will love the animation, and storyline. A must-have this holiday season. Erika Sorocco
- My grandson (he is 3) LOVES Angelina. And, unlike most of the squeaky voiced children's videos, the Angelina Ballerina videos are actually adult-friendly. The artwork is lovely, the stories have morals/lessons, and what I like best is the music! It is not only not irritating, but pleasant to listen to. The voices are Judith Densch and her daughter, among others, and very British, but that is fun too. If you like the books, you will LOVE the videos!
- It is a very charming and intelligent story with very good production quality. My six year old and three year old Grandaughters love it.
- I really love this DVD, even though I haven't seen it before. If I were in ballet class and it was auditioning for a dance production called Cinderella, I would want the starring role of Cinderella instead of playing the Wicked Stepmother or Stepsister. I didn't like the part where horrible Priscilla Pinkpaws is chosen to play Cinderella and Angelina is cast as the Wicked Stepmouse. When Angelina quits the ballet, Mr. Operatski re-casts Miss Lilly as the Wicked Stepmouse. But if the show must go on, I might not care about getting the part of Cinderella at all. When Angelina injures Miss Lilly, Mr. Operatski re-casts Angelina as the Wicked Stepmouse again. I don't know why Mr. Operatski wants Angelina to play the Wicked Stepmouse if she is Miss Lilly's best dancer. I might like getting the part of the Wicked Stepmother or Stepsister.

5 comments about Home For Christmas.
- Hewitt & Hessman were nicely matched for this comedy.
- Two great actresses! A great family movie!
- Can't take my eyes off on Jennifer "Love" Hewitt while watching this movie. I'm glued to it. I enjoy watching her. She's so natural as if she's not acting. I really love and adore her so much that I want to kiss her because she is so CUTE on her younger days. I recommend watching this movie because it brings the holiday spirit on what it reallly means, being with the family and the values the goes with it.
- I remember seeing this on TV several years ago, and thinking this is going to be horrible! Was I ever wrong! Its a surprisingly touching holiday movie, with great performances from Howard Hessman, and Jennifer Love Hewitt(Here billed as Love Hewitt).
With the exception of "Part Of Five," I was never a huge Hewitt fan. Home For Christmas was a great example of how good she can be when Hollywood isn't giving her bad scripts. Her chemistry with Hessman was terrific, and that smile could light up the night. A very pleasant surprise, and one that I will continue to watch form time to time.
- Nice holiday fun flick watch this with your kids. it will make you go awwww!

5 comments about Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer - The Movie.
- John Goodman Was The Rigt One to Play Santa I Liked the Movie My Granny Gave me that on Video Are You Going to Have one on DVD in FullScreen ? Hunter
- This movie is the best. Dont listen to the people who dont like it-they are just jealous because this movie is better than that old 1964 one with horable sound and bad picture. This movie has perfect sound and great picture. Rudolph is so cute! With some extra characters and events (The fairies were annoying, though)this movie is the best!
- I am over 6 yrs. old and I long to see this movie again. It was my favorite when I was younger.I love the fairies and Zoey. i happen to think it is better than the original. The 1964 one was to plain and boring this one was spiced up. I have'nt seen it for so long bescause they don't have it at our new stupid blockbuster. For those of you who said it was retarted and stupid... you are just wrong!
- This movie is fresh and funny with new ideas. It's so much better than the 1964 version. The latter is probably only of interest to VERY young children. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Movie is better for older kids. Here are five reasons why it is better than the 1964 version:
1. The animation is way better than those freaky looking puppets!
2. The sound is better.
3. The villian (Stormella) has a reason for being 'villianous.' Her priceless ice garden was destroyed by two elves and she wants revenge. Whils twith the '64 version, all the villain wanted to do was to steal toys for no reason whatsoever. ('Toy Taker,' *very* scary).
4. The sidekicks aren't nearly as annoying.
5. It shows the Arctic for what it really is, a cold harsh environment with bears and wolves, not a little snowy candy cane village where it is cold but not enough to freeze to death.
So buy the '64 version if you have 3 year olds, but if they are over that age, they'll love this movie!
- This is a fun and great movie. My daugher (8) watches this all year and loves it.

3 comments about Christmas with Bing Crosby and Kate Smith.
- Beware...this DVD is in Black & White, not color as advertised! It is a b/w kinescope of the 12/24/66 episode of ABC-tv's Hollywood Palace. The show originally aired in color.
- I love Bing and Kate. I was not disappointed in their performances, but I did forget that since it was so old, it would be in black and white. The picture wasn't as clear as I had hoped but the singing made up for whatever the picture lacked.
- While the "main" feature of this DVD is a Christmas-Eve themed "Hollywood Cavalcade" from 1966, hosted by Bing Crosby, the real highlight is an "extra" which is a rare 1954 hour-long TV version of "A Christmas Carol" with Frederic March.
The main program is not what we've come to expect from Christmas specials, but is really nothing more than a vaudeville show, complete with comic (Bob Newhart), trained dogs, and a dance number (Cyd Cyrisse, dressed as a marionette). It's fairly ordinary (and typical of the time), but the best parts are when Bing sings, alone, with Kate Smith and with his family and very young children, ages 5-9. These parts are more reminiscent of Bing's Christmas specials which more people are familiar with.
But the extra "Christmas Carol" is a delight. Most people have never heard of it, and it has many excellent actors, especially Frederic March as Scrooge. But the highlight of it is the music by famed film composer Bernard Herrmann (more known for his association with Hitchcock than for his heartwarming Christmas tales--but he pulls it off beautifully)! His Christmas Carols are sung by the outstanding Roger Wagner Chorale, and they also provide a very etheral background for Jacob Marley's ghost, played by Basil Rathbone (better known as Sherlock Holmes in the 1940s).
It's early TV, but it was filmed, not live (rare for the time), so production values are higher than for the time. But, it is an old print, so don't be expecting modern sound or picture quality. But, how nice to have this available again.

5 comments about Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol.
- Timely delivery of a timeless Christmas video from my childhood. No problems of any sort with order, delivery, payment or product. Thanks Amazon!
- Yousa! This show seems to have eluded airplay at xmastime by the networks, both cable and over the air. It is absolutely charming.... I have missed it enough to buy it. The music is delightful, and Jim Backus is wonderful. Tiny Tim puts a tear to my eye every time!
It is a classic, & I am glad to have it!
- This is the greatest film in the history of the universe. It's an epic masterpiece and a sublime accomplishment that will be remembered for centuries. It is art at its finest, right up there with the Sistine Chapel, Beethoven or Shakespeare. I last watched this months ago and I can still taste the razzleberry dressing. Jacob Marley even visited me in my sleep the other night.
It's a family tradition for us, but unless you have been exposed to it from an early age, you may be like our in-laws and just not get it. I don't know that there's any middle ground. It either becomes a part of you or you fall asleep while watching it.
- I was well satisfied with the VHS tape of Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol. The color was good, and as always, Jim Backus' voice was excellent. This was a good addition to my seasonal tapes and DVDs. Anyone who already enjoys this tale by Dickens would like this. It was a good match to have Mr. Magoo portray Scrooge.
- There are dozens of versions of the Dickens Christmas classic, and hundreds if not thousands of stage productions have been done. What does this one have that the others do not? Music. GREAT music. And the songs support and put a new twist on the well-known story. You'll be singing (or humming) the tunes all year long. It's great fun for the whole family. If you haven't seen it yet, you're missing something wonderful.

5 comments about Twas the Night Before Christmas.
- I will be 35 in December. This is still my all time favorite Christmas cartoon....I often will (especially during the Christmas season) hum the tunes or quote the lines while watching (could quote the whole movie while watching), or even when cleaning the house.....ditto to most of the above comments, including, WHERE IS THE DVD???
- I just want lovers of this show to know that it did indeed get released on DVD...I have been waiting for a long time and never would have known had I not come across it by chance...It is not out on DVD by itself, rather, it is on the DVD "Frosty's Winter Wonderland" (The Rankin Bass Version) If you want this DVD, check it out and pick it up, it will not let you down...It is the same version as we all know and love
- This is one my favorite Christmas cartoon specials. My only problem I have is now that the Family Channel shows it each year. The song, "There's more to the world that meets the eye" is always edited out. I guess to make room for commercials. Other then that complaint. The cartoon is excellent!
- I love this special, mostly because it has some great songs in it. It's meant for kids, and it's good for kids, but it's not limited to kids. No matter what age someone is, I believe they can appreciate this great work of art. Adults can go beneath the surface and find deeper meaning in the message sent out. For instance, Albert doesn't believe anything he can't see. His father tells him, "You don't know as much as you think you do because you only think with your head." Then he sings a song about the beautiful things in the world you can't see or touch. This short film shows how important it is to consult your heart in life and it sends out a very hopeful and entertaining message. It makes you aware that miracles ARE possible, but you need to be at least a little active to get them going. Even when Santa bypasses the town because of doubters, there are those in the town that refuse to give up hope and do whatever it takes to bring Santa back. It's inspiring. There are just so many great things to ponder in this short little song-filled Christmas film.
- It's My Favorite Christmas Movie. I Just Love It. The Movie Starts In A Snowy Town Called Junktionville. In A Clockmaker's house We See A Fireplace With Two Stockings And A Note Between The Two Stockings. And A Thin Christmas Tree. Then We See Two Children. A Boy And A Girl Sleeping In The Bed. Then We See The Clockmaker Named Joshua Trundle Reading A Book By Candlelight While His Wife Is Sleeping Beside Him. Then Joshua Trundle Was Reading A Book Called Twas The Night Before Christmas. Then He Said If Only He Could Sleep, If Only He Knew. Then He Looked At The Clock. Then We See A Mouse Hole. And We See Two Mice Children Sleeping In There Beds. Then We See Father Mouse Also Reading A Book By Candlelight. And His Wife Is Sleeping Too. Then Father Mouse Was Remanising Of What Happened. Then We See That It's Morning In The Town. And The Mailman Came. And A Mouse Was Delvering The Mail Too. Then The Two Mice Children Said That The Letters Were From Santa. Then In The Joshua Trundle's Living Room. His Two Children Also Got There Letters Back From Santa. So If You Want To Know What Happens Next. Then You Should Buy This Movie. It's A Great Christmas Present.

5 comments about Halloween III - Season of the Witch.
- This Dvd is a success, though a minimal one.
First and formost, the original (well what I remember anyway) poster or at least vhs art on the cover. Not some poorly photoshoped from movie, or worse, unrelated image with a new tile over the "art". This has the picture I've always thought of as the cover of Halloween 3.
Secondly, the movie. Widescreen, which is a nessecity for me in any format anymore. If there is a possiblity of widescreen over full, wide is the only screen for me. So success. The movie itself is satisfactory quality, and better than vhs. Which is really all I need anyway. Not a high def guy as of yet.
Thirdly, special features. Forget it, there arent any. And to be specific, I dont qualify original trailer as a special feature. To be special the features should be something of note, or pasing trivial intrest, and preferably loads of them. But I dont NEED special features. I want the Feature, as in the movie. And if it's lucky enough to be widescreen, errata be damned.
So a very satisfactory dvd, with my 3 main points: Original (or fondly rememberd) cover art/poster art, Widesceen, and finally better than Vhs quality. So success.
Perhaps eventually a disc will come out with loads of special features, like John Carpenter explaining his theory that this movie was the next in a thematic Halloween series, with each movie focusing on different aspects of the holiday. Not a Michael fest every time. Many people arent aware of this and that knowledge alone may finally cause them to understand what was going on in this movie.
For what it's worth, if you have never seen it, it has nothing whatsoever to do with Michael. If you have heard about it, or have seen it and always hated that it didnt have anything to do with Michael, think of this. It is a very effective movie made by one of the great modern horror directors about an aspect of halloween not often delt with, at least at the time (irish origins, ect) and in an inventive way, with some good scary and memorable moments (six more days to halloween, halloween) that you cant soon forget.
- This has to be the biggest gyp in horror movie history. Im not irate that Michael Myers wasnt in this one but this movie is not scary plain and simple. The plot is this. A toyship dies so a guy and his daugher investigate the death. They later find out that it was a conspiracy involving corporate weasels as well a sorcerer with an evil scheme up the sleeve. The kids in the town wear these shamrock masks and through the TV screen, a program involving a flashing pumpkin and cheesey polka music turns the heads of those children into bugs and serpents. After sitting through this long and tedious movie you would wish you had a shamrock mask too. Like I said in the beginning. Michael Myers not being in this movie is not why I trash it: Its boring and unfrightening. Was the polka music and the flashing pumpkin on the TV screen supposed to be scary? Is the end scene where the TV stations all cut of except one station and the guy is screaming his head off to get them to turn of that staion supposed to be scary? Of course not. They should have just called it Season Of The Witch instead of Halloween III because this movie soiled the legacy of one the best horror movies of all time. Well, horror movie fans this is Ashton Butcher and you just got Pimp'd.
- Let me get this straight: I am no Halloween fan. Of course, the first movie is a horror classic, but just about the only tolerable sequel is Halloween II, and even that threw aside some of the things that made the original great (the sometimes gratuitous blood and gore feels tacked on, for instance). I am not bothered, like some people are, by Michael Myers' absence from this movie; it could have been a good movie, considering sci-fi master Nigel Kneale (who wrote the Quatermass television serials for the BBC) wrote it. Unfortunately, he is uncredited, as his script was butchered by the studio and he requested his name be removed from the credits. I imagine his script wasn't perfect, but it certainly would have been superior to what we see on screen in this, one of the poorest horror movies I have ever seen (and that includes The Amityville Horror).
Many people are killed in this film by Ralf Hutter lookalikes, and all of these scenes are gratuitously, needlessly violent. Seriously, this is the most pointlessly violent film I've seen since The End of Evangelion. And like that film, Halloween III essentially is nothing more than the cinematic equivalent of two middle fingers thrust at the audience. We even see the original Halloween playing in some scenes, as if to remind us that film was so much better than what you're currently watching.
The script is also remarkably poor, even for a Halloween movie. It conveniently ignores the fact that the United States spans multiple time zones, and it also ignores an explanation for why watching the magic pumpkin broadcast will cause children wearing the Silver Shamrock masks to die and have insects crawl out of their heads, other than the line "A good magician never explains". Now that's what I call lazy scriptwriting. The script gets progressively worse as the film drags on, until it stops dead. This film does not end; it stops, right at an obnoxious cliffhanger. If that doesn't give you a hint that the movie is going to be terrible, I don't know what does.
If there's anything to recommend this movie for, it's John Carpenter's reasonably eerie electronic score. But you can pick that up on CD anyway, so why bother slogging through this garbage to listen to it?
- What was Hollyweird thinking???
As usual, they weren't.
They saw $$$ with the Halloween name and decided to take the franchise in a different direction, the WRONG direction.
Horrid story, horrid script, horrid acting, horrid directing, horrid EVERYTHING!!!!
An insult to fans of the first two.
An insult to any movie fan with any intelligence.
This is without a doubt the worst Halloween in the series.
It has no redeeming value what so ever.
AVOID!!!!!!!!!!
- John Carpenter tried to extend the HALLOWEEN franchise with this 1982 entry, released, of course, just days before the holiday. His friend Tommy Lee Wallace, who had acted as Production Designer and Editor on both the original HALLOWEEN and THE FOG, made his directorial bow with this film. The original story was written by the great Nigel Kneale, creator of Professor Quatermass, but Kneale had his name removed from the credits when Wallace re-, re-, and then re-rewrote his script. It would have been lovely to see what SEASON OF THE WITCH would have been like with Kneale's original story. In any case, Wallace's version of the story is very much a Fifties-style horror/sci-fi film, with mysterious goings on in an isolated Southern California town (a la INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS), a terrible computer-age secret which is obligingly explained by the villain (wonderfully played by veteran character actor Dan O'Herlihy), a lead performer who is not your usual hero (TV character actor Tom Atkins), a damsel in distress (Stacey Nelkin, ditto, TV), and plenty of available victims for the baddies to dispatch in creative ways.
The very atmospheric cinematography in Anamorphic 2:35 to 1 Widescreen is by Carpenter stalwart Dean Cundey, who has also lensed JURASSIC PARK, all three BACK TO THE FUTURE films, WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT and ROCK AND ROLL HIGH SCHOOL along with about 65 other films and TV shows. He and Carpenter support Wallace at every turn, making SEASON much better than the usual debut Director feature. And, even though the film had a microscopic budget (courtesy of Universal), the clever use of color, light, shade and available props and standing sets give the film the look of a moderately budgeted feature. Special makeup (by Oscar and Emmy nominated wizard Tom Burman) and effects are used sparingly and judiciously for maximum impact.
The music, surprise surprise, is by John Carpenter and Alan Howarth (and there was even a soundtrack elpee on genuine vinyl, which did contain that "Silver Shamrock" commercial that will bore into your brain by the end of the movie. The music was also reissued on CD on Varese Sarabande, now out of print, but re-reissued on Alan Howarth's own label with 13 bonus tracks, in a limited edition of 1000 (and you can still get it, as of this writing, July 2008, right here on Amazon!)
If you are looking for the further adventures of Michael Myers, you won't find them in SEASON. At the time of release, Carpenter said he hoped that he could start a tradition of a different "Halloween" film every year. SEASON failed miserably at the box office, mainly because, despite the television and print advertising, the public expected The Shape. Too bad.
The DVD edition of SEASON is available in a stand-alone as well as in a double-feature pack with HALLOWEEN 2. Both versions are through Universal. The DVD is in full 2:35 to 1 Widescreen, but has no bonus features, not even the trailer. Darn.
So, if you are in the mood for witches and warlocks and things that go "misfire" in the night, try HALLOWEEN 3: SEASON OF THE WITCH. And if you want to know what I mean by "misfire", you'll just have to watch the movie. Closely. Heh, heh, heh. . .
