- I found the DVD "Maori culture traditions and history" to be an excellent documentary about the Maori Culture of New Zealand. Historian, Mr Don Stafford, presents the program in an easy yet informative style. The art and traditions on the culture are well covered...there is eve a bonus video clip of a full Maori Haka (War dance)!!. Regarding value...there is a beautiful bonus documentary entitled "Wonders of Nature" also included in the DVD...this shows all the beautiful natural sights and scenery New Zealand is renowned for!!...Highly recommended!!

- This is the most hilarious, in your face depiction of the "normal dysfunctional" family get-together ever. The casting, script and acting is so good that I never tire of the film. It is fast paced and witty to the core. I put it right up there with the classic, A Christmas Story--a must see for every holiday season. Even the teenagers in the family love it. My daughter asked for her own copy this year.
- This great story about a more "normal" family than most will ever admit starts funny and ends nicely (and you will need to pay attention to get it). In between we are taken on a roller coaster ride of insanity, dark humor, insight, observation and discomfort - as in "OMG-that's my sister (brother, dad, etc.). I laughed, cried, puzzled, identified and it seemed to all sum up in Dad's thanksgiving prayer and "bogey, bogey, par, par son."
With Jody Foster directing, Holly Hunter and Robert Downey Jr., Anne Bancroft and Charles Dunning starring in a movie about Families at Thanksgiving and raising kids --- I can only say "perfect"... My family and friends make this a Thanksgiving/Christmas watch... not everyone is ready for this level of reality but hey--- it only comes once a year!
- This seller (Movie Mars)sent defective merchandise. After returning it at MY cost, I had to keep contacting the company to find out what happened to my replacement. Home for the Holidays
- This is such a great movie, saw it years ago and always wanted it. So I added it to my movie library, and love it. Great holiday movie.
- This film embodies the abject misery a lot of people experience when forced to go home to The Family for the holidays. You have to confront aging parents, aging siblings and old school friends/rivals. Nothing is the same anymore; yet you are bombarded with bittersweet memories. This film delivers in all those areas. You identify with the characters because you either know people like this or are related to them!
Robert Downey Jr really shines in this - which is amazing since the cast was brilliant. His performance just sparkles. He plays the gay brother of Holly Hunter who starts out just plain weird and becomes The Star of the film. I was disappointed when his character just goes away by escaping the insanity of The Family when he goes back to his real home to be with people who really love and appreciate the person he is rather than the little boy his family remembers. It seemed to me that the spark was gone after that.
Anyway, buy this film, put on the popcorn, curl up and enjoy. Oh, and Merry Christmas. Heh heh heh.

- There was a time television Christmas specials and yearly Christmas episodes dominated the TV schedule in December. Those days are sadly gone. Most of the great entertainers who delivered yuletide fun have passed on. Red Skelton was a fixture on TV during the 50s and 60s. This 3 DVD set provides Skelton fans with some great Christmas bits and some complete Christmas episodes from Red. If you're looking for some laughs and feeling a bit nostalgic you won't go wrong giving this set a view over the holidays.
- Red Skelton, One of Americas Clowns. His "Pledge of Alligence" is a MUST see for all Americans.

- This item is set to release 10/18/2005. But also scheduled to release in October/November, 2005 are Volumes 2, 3, and 4. What isn't clear so far, is that the Holiday Spectacular IS Volumes 2, 3, and 4 in one package, according to the distributor's website: Starlight Home Entertainment. So save your money and just buy this one 3 disk set. You get 18 15-minute episodes, plus three 30-minute Holiday-themed episodes (Halloween, Christmas, New Years) for a total of 6 hours of viewing.
- Amazon has posted the contents of the 3 individual DVDs that comprise this set, but they haven't duplicated that information here so I will. This set will contain the following episodes:
"The Zillion Dollar Combo", "Good Neighbor", "The Wild Goat", "Big Apple", "Ready or Not", "Kum Ba Ya", "Officer Bob", "The Runaway", "Lemonade Stand", "Bully Up A Tree", "Doghouse Dreamhouse", "Jeep In The Deep", "A Diller A Dollar", "Boy In Trouble", "Who, Me?", "Who's George?", "Rags and Buttons" and "The Dog Show", as well as the 3 aforementioned holiday specials: "Halloween Who-Dun-It", "Christmas Lost and Found", and "New Year Promise".
Quite a lot of episodes for the money, definitely a good deal.
- i remember getting up t 6 a.m. on a sunday morning and watching at least two fifteen minute episodes of this classic childrens show. great dvd package.
- I never missed this as a child. When I found it on DVD I was so excited. Got it for my God children. Very good morals that never get outdated. The anamation is still cool today. They are digitally remastered and much beter than I remember on TV Great for children to learn right from wrong and it doesn't preach any certain religion even though the Lutheran Church produced them. Lessons on being kind to one another, telling the truth, Minding your parents, Not stealing. What American children need before so much super heros and violent cartoons.

- The DVD won't play at all. (the other 2 is okay) For some reason our player cannot read this DVD. Is it possible if i can return it? Please advice.
Also, follow up on the Microwave rice cooker that I ordered , until now I haven't received it. Please advice if you sent it too..
tks.
- Love Audrey, especially Sabrina Fair. Full of glamour and fun, especially good for watching while on a treadmill.
- I was thrilled when I saw that you could buy 3 of the best Audrey Hepburn movies all in one. Each one of these movies is fantastic, and I would encourage everyone to see them. Audrey Hepburn gives a flawless performance in each one. Sabrina is constantly overlooked and yet one of my favorites. Audrey stars opposite Humphrey Bogart in Sabrina, and the two shine. This is a movie set that every DVD collection needs!
- In this astounding collection featuring some of Audrey Hepburn's best movies, (Roman Holiday, Sabrina, Breakfast at Tiffany's) she is just as charming and beautiful as ever. Hepburn is an incredible actress who is one of the greatest fashion icons ever, and shows it in these three wonderful movies.
- I bought this collection after seeing Sabrina one night on tv. The three films included are really just beautiful stories, but each one is drastically different than the last. They've made me fall in love with Audrey Hepburn. I watch them over and over again, each movie is good for different moods.
The best part of any Audrey Hepburn film, imho is her personal style. I find myself trying out scarves, pearls, and other feminine items I never would have thought - all because she wore them so well.
Anyways, I just love this set. It's one of the few DVD sets I would not want to get rid of.

- During Christmas this Holiday show runs on HBO. It is beautiful and has become a part of our holiday. We love the music and the animation. As always it is fun to hear children talk about the holidays.
- This is a Rare and Wonderful DVD irginally from HBO....I just love it..sit down with the kids and make popcorn and enjoy...it's just one of those specials....a must...and the animation and the Children in this Hearwarming Special are just that HeartWarming.....blessings
- I got this DVD for my young children (aged 2 & 4) even though I'm not too hip on TV. Anything goes for the holidays in our home & we're trying to instill the 'reason for the season'. The kids totally enjoyed this DVD. It opened the door for conversation about Holiday celebrations from other cultures and was mellow enough to be viewed before bedtime when we didn't read a book.
- This collection of classic holiday songs set to animation is peppered with live interviews with children that are hilarious and magical! We now quote some of the precious things the kids say about their holiday memories! If you love music and the holiday season....don't miss this wonderful film!!
- This is a wonderful introduction for young children on all the different holidays (Chanukah, Christmas, Kwaanza). I strongly recommended it, and have purchased it as gifts for parents with young children (3 years old and on).

3 comments about Nine Dog Christmas.
- I was surprised to find a new holiday moving starring canines that I hadn't yet heard of; clearly, it was brand new and had made its way silently onto shelves. Somehow, it struck me as being a cartoon movie worth seeing and not a cheesey disappointment. I was right. The DVD features are surprisingly good; a music video, game, instructional holiday crafts video for kids, and a particularly nice segment on the dog breeds represented in the movie as well as mixed breeds comprise the features. The story, although geared toward younger viewers, is unique enough and clever enough to make 'Nine Dog Christmas' suitable for almost any viewer.
I found the characters of the movie to be in many ways similar to previously known canine characters. In fact, the movie reminded me of a six-way cross among "Homeward Bound 2," "All Dogs go to Heaven 2," "Oliver and Company," "Lady and the Tramp," "101 Dalmatians," and "Nick and Noel." It's not that the movie is simply a conglomeration of these and hasn't got a style all its own. It's simply that MacGreggor, the Scottie, strongly brings to mind Jock of "Lady and the Tramp." Snowplow, the Old English sheepdog, resembles both Nick from "Nick and Noel" and the Colonel from "101 Dalmatians." Further, the Chihuahua Cheech is like Tito of "Oliver and Company." Almost as though cousins of these dogs were now starring in their own film. The other dogs are great; Chester the Boxer is perhaps the funniest. No Name is a lovable old dog obsessed with going 'home' and never realizes that he hadn't had a real home until Santa gave him one. Fetch is a hyper hound, and Tank is cute and one of the main characters. Q.T. is the pretty girl who falls in love with Tank rather quickly; the fantasy scene between those two is quite unexpected but fun. Frenchy the Bull Terrier might be the best character because he is the most multi-faceted. He's complex, interesting, and somewhat gruff, and does change sides during the film. On the whole, though, the dogs seem to be quite 'Disney-esque.'
The songs, especially the Tank/Q.T. one (which reminded me of Audrey's 'Somewhere that's Green' number from 'Little Shop of Horrors' because it involves dreaming of that sort of perfect home with someone else), and the song between elves Buzz and Agnes Anne, are not half bad. Where do I find the most fault with this movie? Without a doubt: its length. I felt it could have been made much longer without losing the audience's interest. In fact, had the story been elaborated, it would have drawn an audience in even more effectively. An hour just passes for 'full length,' but I thought it could have stood to be even longer. Still, 'Nine Dog Christmas' did impress me as one of the better little holiday cartoon movies of late. Clever and entertaining, it focuses on the holiday in general (in a way anyone could appreciate), and also doesn't beat the usual kids-movie morals to death. It finds its own way to get messages across. All in all 'Nine Dog Christmas' is awesome for children but has good enough dialogue (and, let's face it, cute enough dogs and music and such) for everybody.
- There are many "children's movies" that I, as an adult, still enjoy. Some I remember fondly from when I was a child (Like the cartoon How the Grinch Stole Christmas) and others are enjoyable to children and to adults (such as Shreck or Pixar films)--this movie doesn't fall into either category.
I watched this movie with some of my nephews and neices (kindergarten to first grade in age) and they enjoyed it--at least it kept their attention the whole time. However, I couldn't help finding fault with the movie as I watched with them. The songs were not great, the plot had contradictions (and little logic), and the animation seemed slow and off-set at times. I think the only redeeming feature of the movie was the narration by James Earl Jones, and it wasn't necessarily his very best work either (noththing to compare to Darth Vader).
Now I realize this is a kids movie, so they won't have a problem with logic and overused cliches--and normally I might not either. However, there was nothing beyond these bad points to redeem the movie in my eyes, except as a purely children's movie. If you have kids get it for them, but don't necessarily expect to enjoy it with them.
- Kids will love this great christmas movie. The dogs are all wonderful. Frenchie is our favorite. The kids watch it over and over. We think it has a real family feel.Good hearted warm(or cold)fun!

- I have loved this movie since it first came out and watch it every christmas. It came quickly and in good condition.
- One of the most entertaining performances of the Christmas Carol. Michael caine does an exceptional acting job and the muppets add an interesting and enjoyable twist to the story. A must for anyone who has a Christmas movie collection.
- A bonnet movie for your children. And adults love it too. Very moving. Michael Caine is brilliant. Rizzo is great. Gonzo make a wonderful narrator. BEST Christmas Carol out there. All ages love it.
- This was an amazing blast from the past that brings you right back to your childhood. From the two old grumpy guys from the balcony to Rizzo the Rat; there are classic and well-beloved characters that bring you back to your childhood and share the wonderful classic of The Christmas Carol. The opening menu is quite funny, and several of my friends and I spent quite a bit of time just watching Kermits antics there. The children of Miss Piggy and Kermit are cute, humorous and everything they ought to have been. We follow Gonzo and Rizzo as they take us through the classic tale and show us the meaning of MERRY CHRISTMAS! With hilarious scenes from Kermit ice-skating to Miss Piggy taking on Scrooge in a battle of words, this timeless tale is a must-buy and a wonderful keepsake for the generations to come. A grand example of a G-rated movie with cleverness and excellent production value!
- My all-time favorite Christmas movie. It's my favorite version of the Christmas Carol--forget "live" actors. And the Scrooge in this one is the best of any I've seen.
