5 comments about A Sesame Street Christmas Carol.
- My son is 2 years old and loves sesame street including ELMO - this is the only DVD we have of a holiday on Sesame Street and he loved it! He was so excited to see all of the characters on here and he absolutley LOVED seeing Elmo talking with Santa and sitting on Santa's lap. That's how I got him to sit on santa's lap this year.
We watch it all the time and he seems to love it more and more each time.
- We got this for our daughter in hopes for some great entertainment, yet for an awesome lesson in the spirit of Christmas. The Muppets did it with "Muppet Christmas Carol", but this is WAY off base. I've always loved Oscar the Grouch, and I was really hoping for something great. The back of this says that it is in tradition with Charles Dickens' classic novel. Not at all. The ONLY thing that the 2 have in common is that there are 3 ghosts. Read on!
The great things about this is that there is some Sesame Street past, such as well remembered Mr. Hooper. That was kind of a shock, and in the beginning (which is where Mr. Hooper makes his appearance) I thought this might be a real treat. Oscar is clearly seen as his usual grouchy self, and wants nothing but a night of Christmas sleep. So we see some great Christmas moments, like with Bert and Ernie. We also see some cool moments with Elmo and Santa Claus. That was an awesome lesson in giving. What was rather disappointing was that Christ was blatantly kept out of this Christmas "special", so there wasn't much special about it in the SPIRIT of Christmas. Jesus Christ was the perfect gift from our Lord.
The problem with this is that Sesame Street producers decided that lessons on Hanukkah and Quanza should be included. The lessons are awesome, yet this turns this "CHRISTMAS SPECIAL" into merely a "holiday treat". They showed even how at Hanukkah and Quanza that candles are lit, in tradition of both holidays. What about Advent candles at Christmas time? We need to at least hear about the awesome virgin birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. I feel that the point of this is disappointing, and therefore missed.
So in the end, Oscar is still a grouch, and there is probably peace on Earth in Sesame Street. I would suggest that when watching this with your children that you open your Bibles and read them the Christmas story. I believe that Sesame Street will remain educational, and that's awesome. Yet when educating MY daughter, or any kid for that matter with the word "Christmas" in the title, stick to the main idea. My America was founded on ideas such as "Merry Christmas", not some wimpy "happy holiday", which is the unfortunate idea of this presentation.
- I was so disappointed by this movie. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! As all the other reviews have noted, it is just old material recycled. But the transition into this old material was also horrible. My two year old daughter even recognized that these were just the old movies rolled into one.
- This dvd was the most boring i have ever seen. I played it for three different kids ages 1,3 and 5. Not one of them liked it or watched it.
- Excellent Sesame Street DVD. Great sesame st. version of the classic Christmas Carol. Right up there w/ Mickey's Christmas Carol.

5 comments about The Little Drummer Boy.
- The collaborative work of Katherine Davis, Henry Onorati and harry Simeone, "The Little Drummer Boy" is delightful retelling of a classic Christmas story and song wonderfully combined with the glowing, full-color illustrations of Ezra Jack Keats and the iconic music and vocals of John Jennings in superbly produced, flawlessly recorded, six-minute DVD format. A very highly recommended addition to family, school, and community library Christmas DVD collections, "The Little Drummer Boy" is also available from Weston Woods in a Paperback/CD format (NPCD124, $18.95) and a Paperback/Cassette format (NPRA124, $14.95).
- When I was a little boy, Christmas time was never complete until I had the opportunity to see "The Little Drummer Boy" on TV. Now that it's out on DVD I don't have to wait to see it on TV. That's right, I still consider it a pinnacle of my Christmas traditions. It's a beautiful, but sad story about a little boy who loses his parents in a house fire deliberately set by some roaving thieves. He, along with his camel and sheep, teams up with a wondering junk dealer and low and behold winds up being at the stable in Bethlehem on the night of The Savior's birth. Since he lost everything he owned in the house fire, he decides as a gift for the new born King he would play his drum. Again, this is a beautiful story that leaves me in tears each time I watch it.
- This is a fairly short Christmas special but it was made in the old days when a half hour on TV contained only four minutes of commercials. The best part about The Little Drummer Boy is its wholesome simplicity. The fact that it is so unabashedly religious is its strongest point in my opinion. Chasing the hate out of your heart and replacing it with love is a valuable lesson for all children, so I agree with another reviewer about its being a timeless family classic. It begins rather slowly but the last five minutes are absolutely outstanding and worth scanning back to watch a second time. The quotations from scripture give it its oomph but this also means that it would never be televised today on any of the big three networks. This might be a good DVD to buy because you probably won't catch it for free.
- The movie is as good as I remember from my childhood but unfortunately the quality of the reproduction is very poor. My mother-in-law happens to have a copy of it on VHS that must have been made before the producers lost the 35mm original, because her VHS reproduction is much clearer than what's on my DVD. It's a real pity the 35mm was lost because it makes a big difference to watch it with the original quality. I imagine if someone redid the story from scratch it would be saccharine and puerile just like all the christmas movies made these days.
Anyway, as far as I can tell from searching for this item on other sites, this DVD is as good a copy as anyone is going to be able to find.
- Probably the only true spiritual Christmas movie. Excellent story line and thought provking meaning of Christmas. Hope that it is some day remastered.

5 comments about A Perfect Day.
- I cannot improve on the title of this movie. I saw it on one of the networks about a year ago and taped it. Am thrilled it is going to be released on dvd. Bear with me if I don't remember all the names. Rob Lowe's character has just been fired from his job. He and his wife have a daughter about age six or seven. Money is tight and Lowe's character decides to finish a book he started entitled "A perfect day." He finishes the book, gets tons of rejection slips then an agent contacts him and wants to market his book. The book soars in popularity. Lowe's character is traveling the country, misses all his daughter's Christmas plays, misses his aunt's funeral, etc. Weaved into the story toward the end is an older gentlemen who predicts "Rob's death." I don't want to give away the story or the ending. The movie is appropriate for all ages - little ones would probably not understand it. Good discussion movie. What is more important - money or family? How much money do you really need? And what is a perfect day. The story takes place around Thanksgiving and Christmas but is appropriate for anytime. I give 5 stars for not only the acting but the great story.
- for being a made for tv movie (TNT) it think this movie is really good. has a great story, great message, great cast...
great addition for any holiday movie collection.
- A perfect Day is one of those films that are great for a cool winter evening. Cuddle up on the couch with your family and enjoy the heart warming journey to success and back to valuing what is really important. Rob Lowe, Christopher Lloyd and a well chosen cast bring the Richard Paul Evans novel to life.
It's not a Hallmark production, but it is packed with good solid storytelling and performances. Love never goes out of style.

- I liked this movie. It is a good family movie. It doesn't go by the book all the way through but I have given up on hollywood ever going by the book! The acting is good, and the story is good. The book gives soooo many more details that make the story make sense. Read the book first, then watch the movie.
A man's dream of a national best seller and his dream comes true. What he does with that sucess is not so good.
- A good movie that shows you what is important in life.Watch this when you need to feel good about life.

5 comments about A Lawrence Welk Family Christmas.
- This is the Best Christmas Lawrence Welk Family Show Musical Special that is Great for all the family around Christmas time with Lovely Norma Zimmer hosting and singing. The special is a bright happy Christmas music special.Jo Ann Castle sings the song Santa Claus is Coming To Town and plays the piano.Bobby Burgess sings and he dances with Elaine and his daughter while the song The Christmas Waltz plays.Mary Lou Metzger and Jack sing and dance. They are all so talented. The Lawrence Welk Show was and is a favorite for all ages and is a Great group of people who are all very nice and they are so good. There is Tom Netherton who sings. The Lennon Sisters sing The Christmas Song Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. The Lennon Sisters daughters sing. The Lennon Brothers sing.A Special Guest is Myron Floren and The Osmond Brothers are also guests who sing.Ken Delo sings.Annacani sings.Guy Hovis sings.(Ralna English was not in the special because of her schedule).Joe Fenney and his son Chris sing. With Very Special Guest Mrs Fern Welk the wife of Lawrence Welk and her children and Grandchildren are introduced. This DVD is for all ages and is a Great family special for Christmas a real Great entertaining show.
- This was purchased for my 90 year old mother in law who has severe dementia. Hearing the music and watching the show that she always loved gave her immense joy as she sang along.
- I can't say it was anyone's fault in particular but let me keep others from making my mistake. At the time I bought this dvd from Amazon I do not believe it said anything about being a "reunion concert."
This is a 1995 reunion dvd rather than the actual Christmas show from yester-year. If you like that sort of thing that's cool, but for myself I purchased the dvd for more of a time period nostalgic purpose and was pretty disappointed.
For those who would like a better description, the back of the dvd says:
"In the 40 year holiday tradition of the Lawrence Welk Television Show, the musical family of stars gather at the Champagne Theatre in Branson, Missouri, for an all new Christmas Reunion Concert."
Appearances by:
Norma Zimmer (Host)
Fern Welk (Lawrence's wife)
The Lennon Sisters- Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Jo Ann Castle- The Skater's Watz
Jack Imel- Winter Wonderland
Mary Lou Metzger & Ken Delo- White Christmas
Tom Netherton- The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Bobby Burgess & Elaine Balden- Christmas Waltz & Jingle Bell Rock
Guy Hovis- Some Children See Him
Anacani- It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
Joe Feeney- O Holy Night & How Great Thou Art
The show was really boring to me but I couldn't drive myself to give it 1 star because I believe that fans of the show that grew up with the show would probably really enjoy it. I did give it a 3 because I felt it could have been described better than what it was at the time I bought it.
- My wife bought this expecting to see a vintage Lawrence Welk Christmas Show and was disappointed to find upon viewing it that it was a 1995 show done in Branson, Missouri. It had almost no actual views of the old Welk show but rather a modern somewhat Welk-like reproduction. It did have some of the performers from that show but seeing more of those old shows would have been much better.
If you wish to view Lawrence Welk himself or his original shows, do not buy this DVD. That said, many of the songs and presentations were entertaining but most not up to the best of the old Welk shows.
- THIS DVD WILL CURE THOSE HOLIDAY BLUES AND MAKE YOU SMILE. AN OLD FASHIONED MUSICAL CHRISTMAS WITH GREAT MUSIC, FABULOUS SINGERS, AND DANCERS. THIS ISN'T JUST ANOTHER MUSICAL PERFORMANCE. THIS SHOW WAS DESIGNED WITH WARMTH AND TALENTED INDIVIDUALS WHO LOVE WHAT THEY DO. IT IS A MUSICAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE AND THAT INDESCRIBABLE FEELING KNOWN AS "THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT." WE NEED MORE SHOWS LIKE THIS TODAY. MY FAMILY WATCHES THIS DVD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

5 comments about Happy Holidays From Sesame Street! Gift Collection.
- Three Sesame street movies. No redundancy between the movies. One is a nice old school movie and the other two involve Elmo. One being an Elmo movie and one being a giant Holiday themed "Elmo's world". They did a good job of trying to make kids aware of other cultures and how they celebrate Christmas. For us, it was a nice alternative to our kids wanting to watch cartoons and it got them into the spirit of the holidays.
- My 20-month old daughter, my husband and I all love this set. Three great Sesame Street dvds. Perfect addition to your Elmo or holiday collection.
- My kids LOVE Elmo's World and Sesame Street. The Elmo Saves Christmas was a little over my 2 & 3 year olds heads and the Christmas Eve on Sesame Street was an oldie that I remember as a kid, but my kids didn't care for it either. They did enjoy the Elmo's World Holiday DVD though...
- Christmas Eve on Sesame Street was my favorite when I was a kid. It's great to watch it now with my son. And how can you not love Elmo?! It's time to start some new traditions with Elmo's Christmas movies too.
- The kids love it. Their favorite is Christmas Eve on Sesame Street. It was the reason we purchased the box set. Great price.

5 comments about Mickey's Magical Christmas - Snowed in at the House of Mouse.

- excellent entertainment
disney needs to do more house of mouse dvds
- hello Disney Fans. I am wondering if anyone has ever seen the holiday short about Goofy learning to ski. It was a great little narrated short that I saw when I was a kid. I saw it on television way back when and it was tagged along with a couple of other holiday shorts to a broadcast of the classic "Mickey's Christmas Carol". I have been reading reviews and dvd discriptions on here for an hour and I cannot find anything that mentions this particular short. If anyone knows if it is even available on any of these disney dvd's and if so which one. Please email me and let me know, Thanks. my email address is
ryback78@hotmail.com
- Hello, I am writing this because my kids love this and ask for it (specifically Mickey's version of the Nutcracker). Kids, in general, do not care about whether or not the dvd is truly feature length, they just want to watch it. This is aimed at children. I think we, as adults, would do well to follow their lead in attitudes sometimes.
The video is entertaining and has the classics characters from Disney. We as a family love Disney and this video.
Merry Christmas!
- Mickeys magical christmas vcr tape was never received and and i have contacted seller twice now and nothing. i would like this taken care of either with the movie i ordered or a refund so i can order a different movie. thank you

1 comments about Roman Holiday - The Centennial Collection.
- Fairy tales don't really happen in our world -- especially not the kind that actually involve princesses.
But you wouldn't know that from "Roman Holiday," one of Audrey Hepburn's earliest ever movie roles -- as well as her breakout one. This adorable romantic comedy balances itself nicely between a sweet little romance, a lighthearted romance and the bittersweet, overhanging specter of royal duty.
Bored young Princess Ann (Hepburn) goes on a "Roman Holiday," when she gets upset, is sedated by a doctor, and has an odd reaction to it. Soon she has wandered out of the palace and into the streets of Rome, where she is found by struggling American journalist Joe Bradley (Gregory Peck). Since she appears to be drunk, he takes her home.
When Joe realizes that he has the missing princess in his apartment, he takes her on a whirlwind tour of Rome, with his pal taking photographs for a full article about her. But he doesn't count on falling in love with Ann, or having her truly fall for him. And Ann has a tough choice to make -- should she give up her royal life and stay with Joe, or fulfil her responsibilities as a princess?
"Roman Holiday" is one of those rare movies that sounds incredibly trite and Hollywoodish when you just hear what it's about, because it's been done so many times before. Surprise -- instead we get a movie that is mostly a cute, innocent little romance, but with an inevitable choice that looms over Anne throughout her fun.
But it's a fun ride while it lasts, with Anne and Joe careening through Rome on a scooter, dancing by the river, and getting her hair cut. This doesn't sound very funny, but William Wyler plays it with plenty of little jokes, including Joe's scandalized landlady raving at poor Anne in Italian, assuming that she's a one-night stand. And near the end he twists the storyline into a bittersweet examination of duty vs. love, with Anne forced to consider which way her life will go.
And there's one joke that Peck played on Hepburn in reality -- the infamous "Mouth of Truth" scene. There's a reason Hepburn shrieked so convincingly: she had really been tricked.
Hepburn and Gregory Peck are thoroughly solid as love interests -- Peck is breezy and likable as the jaded American journalist who is seizing an opportunity. And Hepburn showed off her range here -- she can be funny and quirky (including a hilarious "drunk" scene), then switch over into a doe-eyed sadness that breaks the heart.
The Centennial Edition of this movie comes with an extra disk of assorted featurettes -- aside from the usual gallery and trailers, we have a half-hour special on Hepburn's Paramount years, and another twelve minutes commemorating her in general. Also has some stuff on the filming, the costumes, 1950s Paramount, and about restoring the film to primo glory.
"Roman Holiday" is a modern-day fairy tale that never sacrifices integrity for cheap gooey romance. A truly magical, bittersweet little movie.

1 comments about The Ultimate DVD of New Zealand 2009 Edition.
- This DVD is very aptly named and I for one would highly recommend it... "The Ultimate DVD of New Zealand" is as it says...3 wonderful videos of New Zealand on 1 DVD...very good value for a start!! The first video is entitled "Naturally Its New Zealand"...this is a documentary that takes you through the country as a typical tour may be...I found the narration informative and the video footage excellent. The second video on the DVD is all about the Native Maori people on this country. This is presented by a well spoken historian and covers the history of these people. The third video is a superb example of New Zealand's great outdoor. "Great Walks of New Zealand - The Able Tasman National Park" follows a typical 5 day guide tour through this wonderful coastal track. I've walked this South Island track and can truly say that is it is a wonderful part of New Zealand. This DVD shows many aspects of New Zealand that I've found help aid my love for this country...Highly Recommended Viewing!!!
