4 comments about The Dame Edna Experience - The Christmas Specials.
- What could be more wonderful for Dame Edna fans than this dvd that includes two Dame Edna Christmas specials ("Dame Edna's Christmas Experience" and "A Night on Mount Edna"). The first of the two specials includes such stars as Roger Moore and the second features Mel Gibson and Gina Lolabridigda. But it is the Dame herself, Australia's megastar housewife that will drawn you in. With her wicked one liners and quick wit, Dame Edna will have you laughing in no time. Also included on this dvd is "One More Audience With Dame Edna", which features Dame Edna taking questions from an audience that has Ringo Starr, Jeffery Archer and Dame Judi Dench. Finally, Dame Edna's address to the Commonwealth is included from 2001. As usual, Dame Edna's New Zealand bridesmaid, Madge, is along for the ride as well. If you are a Dame Edna fan, this dvd is a MUST for your collection. If you haven't heard of Dame Edna or you are a fan of British comedy, do yourself a favor and buy this wonderfully funny dvd. Highly recommended!!!!
- I had known of the fabulous Dame Edna, of course---who could not? It would be like not knowing about Coca-Cola, or sunshine, or death---but had never experienced one of her shows for myself. What a fool I was! And I now must consider myself a complete convert to her mix of semi-surreal autobiography, narcissism, and celebrity worship. Where else would one see Charlton Heston, dressed in a pink apron, dump a potful of cheese fondue on Julio Iglesias' lap, while Gina Lolabrigida looked one in fastidious dismay? Where else would one hear remarks like "Darling! You look marvelous! It must be the lighting!" or "You have a home in Ibiza, do you? I remember when that was fashionable..."
This CD was a wonderful gift to find under the Christmas tree. While skewering the very British institutions of talk shows and celebrity love-fest interviews, the humor goes far, far beyond the topical and cultural insular--this woman is universal! A force of nature! A goddess! My instinct is to drop everything, buy a ticket to New York City, and beg, borrow, or bribe my way into one of her live performances.
- What a riot! I forgot her/him for a long time but this dvd brought back memories. Very funny with goot prat falls and sight gags, I like the little things you have to pay attention to to catch. I like to be entertained but I also like to have my brain teased, good stuff.
- Edna makes every day seem like Christmas! Every time she opens her mouth, you recieve a verbal present. I love her!!!

5 comments about A Carol Christmas.
- Limp retelling of the Dickens Christmas classic. William Shatner provides the only bright spot as the Ghost of Christmas Present. Tori Spelling proves that, with talent, hard work, and a father who was the most powerful producer in television, anyone can succeed in Hollywood. The rest of the cast is serviceable, but limited by a flat script. Strictly for the pre-teen set or mindset.
- Awsome move to have for theis tim of year n came to me in speedy time
- I HAVE MANY DIFFERENT THINGS ABOUT CHRISTMAS CAROL. I ALREADY WATCHED A CAROL CHRISTMAS, BUT I AM SAD, BECAUSE IT DIDN'T HAVE THE CLOSED CAPTIONED IN IT. WILLIAM SHATNER WAS VERY GOOD ON THIS.
- I saw this on tv and I liked it. A lot more in this than shown on tv
- I have a totally different outlook on Ms. Spelling after seeing her in this wonderful lighthearted movie. Don't really care for actors chosen to play the three ghosts (Gary Coleman!) but she is wonderful!
I have already purchased it and watch it often.

5 comments about Bah, Humduck! A Looney Tunes Christmas.
- Unlike the other two reviewers, I bought this for my kids and we all loved it. It's fun to be able to share Bugs and the gang with my kids after being raised on the Looney Tunes characters. I especially liked the Big Phat Band movie score and the bonus features - watching the band record one of the songs from the soundtrack. Pretty cool.
- There have been so many times these past few years, where Warner Brothers has tried to revamp its Looney Tunes lineup, to appeal to a younger generation. Unfortunately, that has failed miserably with last year's WB cartoon series Loonatics, and the movie Looney Tunes: Back In Action. Although myself as being a die hard fan of the animated gems, I've never seen the looney lost. Recebtly, Warner Brother brought the classics back in style with their fourth volume of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection, which definitely appeals to die hard fans of Bugs, Daffy, and all those funny characters. Now, a straight to video parody of a favorite holiday movie comes to home video.
Bah, Humduck! A Looney Tunes Christmas, is a delightful, and silly take on Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol. In the story, Daffy, plays as the manager of a department store called Lucky Duck, where he acts as if he is Scroogy against Porky Pig, and his other co-workers. In the film, Daffy is visited by spirits, each filled with humor from Granny & Tweety as the ghosts of the past, who show how saddened Daffy is, without having a family of his own, and gets lost in the shuffle from even being adopted in a orphanage, to the wild and wooly Tazmanian Devil, the fright of the future who is goofy as he debuted over 50 years ago. For Daffy, he has the real ego, and humpor to play a better animated Scrooge, than Scrooge McDuck did in Disney's Mickey's Christmas Carol years ago. The DVD has a great deal of humor, but it is sadly a bit too short for die hard Looney Tunes fanatics.
All in all, I just wish a bit more could've been added to Bah Humduck! A Looney Tunes christmas. Still, it is one of the best original holiday movies I've seen within the past several years. If you haven't seen the Looney Tunes classics of the past, you might not consider this as a must buy. I loved watching this recently on Cartoon Network, and it was looney laughter.

- I disagree with a lot of reviewers. I thought this was a great Looney Tunes film! It was just all so cute! Daffy happens to be one my favorite characters, and he was great as the role of good ole Scrooge. ^_^
- I bought this DVD for the music from the Big Phat Band wich I love.
No one else in the Netherlands nows the Big Phat Band I think but they are the best there is.
I hope that they will tour in Europe soon.
The movie is a great combine of a good christmas story ( scrooge ) in an new jacket.
Fun for everyone and special for musiclovers as me.

- My son begged me for this movie since he seen the pre-views. I orderd it and it arrived quicly. He absolutley loved this movie! A cartoon you can watch all season long, not just for the winter time. I was dissapoint though at Warner Bros for releasing it to DVD and playing it on cable at the same time. Anyhow a great movie for all children.

3 comments about Santa Claus Is Comin to Town.
- Sometimes you get sentimental and it always seems to be around Christmas time in my case. I hadn't seen Santa Claus is coming to Town for over twenty years so I checked it out the other day. Amazingly it still holds up which is mostly due to the gravitas voices of Fred Astaire and Mickey Rooney. What's kind of funny is that all the songs came back to me while I was watching them. The melodies have gone through my head from time to time and I had forgotten where I first heard them. This cartoon special explains the Kris Kringle legend in great detail, but the purity of the characters is what makes it so endearing. Yeah, "changing from bad to good is as easy as putting one foot in front of the other" is kind of silly but suspend your disbelief and enjoy this feel good hour of old school television. A film like this would never be made in the contemporary USA as you're not aloud to refer to Christmas as "the holiest night of the year" on a television network.
- I love this movie - it takes me back to my childhood watching it. DVD is great!
- Once you get past the usual Christmas movie-viewing to-dos...Frosty...Grinch...Rudolph...Charlie Brown...you MUST check out this movie! Classic cast! Fred Astaire! Mickey Rooney! Keenan Wynn!
For years the name Burgermeister Meisterburger has rolled off my lips, and this year I finally bought the movie to show to my kids, which they loved.
Add this to your collection, you won't regret it!

5 comments about Home Alone (Family Fun Edition).
- It's funny how certain films bring back fond memories of a certain time and place in one's life. I can remember back when this film came out in the early nineties and I was a kid at my Grandmother's house in Matteson, Ill (which ironically enough is a suburb of Chicago) for Christmas and sometimes Thanksgiving, always watching this film year after year for the holidays. It was like a tradition of sorts. This movie never failed to make my cousins and I laugh and I enjoyed the film enough to where I actually took my own sled and attempted to sled down the top of my staircase at home and out the front door during the wintertime...it didn't work out quite as well as the movie. I won't go over the synopsis of the film, I think it's been explained enough times. I would recommend Home Alone to any family or anyone looking for a film to watch around the holidays.
- I think just about everyone in America has seen this move.
And for good reason, it's fun, it's clean, it's a good time.
Great story, decent acting, and good direction make this a must see for parents with kids.
Recommended.
- I still remember when I saw this movie as well as the second one and to me these will always be Macaulay Culkin's two greatest movies. I think what also made the two home alone movies great were the bumbling burglars played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern it's sad that Hollywood had to make a third and fourth Home Alone with such disaster. I think we're also waiting for the first two movies two come out on blu-ray I know that I'll be getting those for my new blu-ray collection. I know it sounds a little mean but I also like watching these movies before Macaulay Culkin's sad decline from the movies and what he's done with his life. That out of the way if you're looking for a good family funny Christmas movie get these movies in your collection because while you might like to get it on blu-ray sadly there isn't a release date yet so for the price I
say again get the first two movies and leave the third and fourth movie
on the store shelves...
- This dvd has alot of deleted scene's that made me feel like watching the first time all over again. There are awhole alot of features that were worth every penny, shipping and handling and waiting that was all worth it. Now I'm gonna go watch this film again.
- Home Alone was one of the funniest film released in 1990 and is still a Christmas classic to me , tweleve years later. Macaualy Culkin became a star with this film and Joe Pesci showed more acting talent om this film. The ending in the film is one of the funniest and when I have kids I'll show them this treasured classic.

5 comments about Backstreet Boys - Video Hits, Chapter One.
- I love Backstreet Boys - Chapter One. I enjoy watching them over and over again. If you are a big fan of the Backstreet Boys you will totally enjoy watching all of these videos.
- I bought this DVD from Amazon. I would say, this DVD is a excelent video collection. All the music lovers should have this DVD. Do not miss this DVD.I'm very happy to purchased it.I gurenteed about the satisfaction as a music lover.
- This DVD is a great compilation of the hit songs and their music videos the Backstreet Boys have produced over their first three albums: Backstreet Boys, Millennium, and Black & Blue. You can watch a progression of their music and style in this video alone.
The only reason why I give this DVD a 4-star rating instead of five is because of the fact that the region 1 disk here only has the American/ Canadian hits. Hits like We've Got It Goin' On or Get Down (You're the One For Me) aren't present. Another disappointment would be the lack of the new song on The Hits CD - Drowning. The music video for Drowning isn't on this DVD, so if you wanted to buy this DVD for that purpose, you should look elsewhere for it. The DVD is amazing, though, and included my favourite video: The Call. Check it out!
- With 12 videos from their first three cds. Backstreet Boys, Milennium and Black and Blue.
Backstreet Boys:
Quit Playing Games With My Heart
As Long As You Love Me
Everybody (Backstreet's Back)
All I Have To Give
I'll Never Break Your Heart
Milennium:
I Want It That Way
Larger Than Life
Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely
The One
Black and Blue:
Shape of My Heart
The Call
More Than That
Total running time for the DVD/videos is 55 minutes. But with this at your disposal you can watch any of their vids at anytime and for a pretty good price as well.
- I find this is a great video! I love all they're songs on this video and that's unusual for me to love ALL the music videos on one disc! They really did a great job of compiling they're videos to get the best of the best. Also, I prefer not to have concert scenes, they can do that in a seperate disc. If you love the Backstreet boys, you've got to get this DVD! I love it and I'm 46 years old! So its just not for a certain age group! Great DVD!

5 comments about The Ultimate Bob Hope Collection (The Great Lover / How to Commit Marriage / The Lemon Drop Kid / My Favorite Brunette / Paris Holiday / The Private Navy of Sgt. O'Farrell / Road to Bali / Road to Rio / The Seven Little Foys / Son of Paleface).
- we have a deaf family member who excitedly ordered this set after reading the Amazon specifications which stated that the movies contained on this set were closed captioned. They are not. We were very disappointed and had to return the package to Amazon for refund. Attention all deaf and hearing impaired Bob Hope lovers! No closed captions or subtitles on this set makes for a DVD box that deserves only two stars (one star for the lack of captions, four stars for the movies).
- While not the place to look if one is seeking booklets of material, outtakes, interviews or other special features, this set of 10 movies delivers quality production and sound on each of the films. Though the packaging is quite bulky, it obviously can be rectified by purchasing any variety of DVD holders.
Inexpensive should not be confused with cheap. This is an inexpensive means to supplement or compliment any DVD collection with some of the most popular and vastly underrated movies of Bob Hope.
- Yeah, what a mess. I bought this 10 movie set in the stupid box and had to return it. Most of the spindles were broken and the discs were just banging around in the mail. I`d like to buy it again, but not until they design a better and safer package. Too much to ask ?
- All the names in movie reviews call "The Private Navy of Sgt. O'Farrell " a BOMB, but nothing could be less true! This is a later Hope movie, full of the unexpected, giving us a lighter view of WWII in the South Pacific. This film combines the hilarity of Bob Hope with the comic genius of Phyllis Diller, giving us the answer to the big question: what do a bunch of army and navy men do on a tropical island with no women and no beer?! The answer? Try to get nurses flown in, and get Diller and a bunch of male nurses insted; then, go after a sunken supply ship full of beer yourself! In between, find your long lost love (Gina Lollobrigida).
At 24, I am the 2ed of 6 children, and this movie never fails to get a laugh and smile. So I say, watch it and decide for youself!
- This was the first set of movies that I ever bought of Bob Hope and I had high expectations and all my expectations were met. I am also a huge fan of the black and white movies and I was very happy to see how these movies were restored so well. How to Commit Marriage is the only one in color. My favorite of the movies is My Favorite Brunette. Bob Hope does an amazing job and I laughed throughout the whole movie. It's a classic that will entertain for years to come. In The Seven Little Foys Bob Hope's character is mean to his children and wife and I did not enjoy watching this movie because of that. He was not the same funny person as in all his other classics. Not saying Bob didn't do a fantastic job in the movie, i just like seeing him being silly. The Private navy of Sgt. O'Farrell was similar in the fact that I did not like his character but I enjoyed it more then the Seven Little Foys. The Great Lover, Paris Holiday, Son of Paleface, Road to Bali, and Road to Rio are all great great movies and show the side of Bob that got him famous. I highly recommend this set to anyone looking for just good family movies to watch. They are still funny today without crude humor. This set also lets you see the different sides of Bob and how talented he really was. He was not only a fantastic actor and comedian but an extraordinary human being who did a lot for a country at a time of war.

1 comments about Holiday Affair.
- There have been several movies released under the title of "Holiday Affair". Since Amazon has not listed the stars of this movie I can assume (hopefully) that this is the 1949 version starring Robert Mitchum and Janet Leigh with Wendell Cory as the boyfriend. If it is then this is a 9 out of 10 star movie and I highly recommend it as a Christmas movie.
Mitchum has been discharged from the Army after serving in WW2. He takes a job as a toy salesman in a department store to raise enough money for train fare to Calif. where he plans to build boats. He meets Leigh who is employed as a comparison shopper for another store. She has a son about 6 years old and is engaged to Wendell Cory. Problems arise and Mitchum is fired from his job. Without giving away the complete plot, the gist of the story is.... does she want to stay in New York with Cory or go to Calif with Mitchum? Wonderfully funny in places and sad as only a love story can be. I have been waiting YEARS for this to come out on DVD. I hope it is the right one.

- Bought the trilogy and love it, very entertaining. Product was well-packaged and received in record time.
- A nice follow up to the huge Tim Allen hit. The story was fun and original--A must own Christmas classic!
- Tim Allen will forever be our Santa with his personality and memorable voice. This is a must see and own movie to watch for every Christmas to come. Your children will LUV it and so will the adults. [If they admit it]

Pocket of Pearls: A 30-day pocket workbook to start hearing a softer voice inside of you!
- Although nowhere near as good as the first, this is still a fun family movie.
- Well, what a movie, not that great. I think they make movies like those over the top, they start with simple ideas and then bombard the audience with alot of visual effects and no plot. I saw very little character development. It just seems to me that movie makers want to compete on who can make the most hyper movie. Visual effects are great but when it detracts from the message of the over all movie it is just plain silly. However, the scene where they give the teachers all there old favorite games and things it was really fun, those are what make movies a little more magical is to do unexspected things without the hyperness. There were some clever funny parts but the end with the battle and the wedding were too much. Over all it is a great movie to watch as a family. The best part about the movies is that it is clean and it good for everyone.

5 comments about Mrs. Doubtfire (Widescreen).
- I purchased this movie in VCR form years ago. I wanted to get it on DVD because it was a movie I wanted to last for a long time. Love Robin Williams and Sally Field.
- This item came ontime and was in perfect condition. Just the way it should be
- Mrs. Doubtfire starring Robin Williams is pretty hilarious. This is an oldie but goodie, Williams is nearly flawless in this dual role. Not sure who cast Sally Field but she seems out of place in this comedy. Pierce Brosnan is easy on the eyes, he's still gorgeous to this day! I like this film but I've watched so much I got kind of sick of it. Good movie to watch with family and friends, enjoy!
- For years, I have been waiting for this movie to come to DVD. As I had worn out the copy I had on VHS, this movie was a lost treasure. Now on DVD loaded with bonus features, this is the true DVD treasure. It's also nice to have it as a digital transfer so it looks good on an HD-upconverting dvd player. Best comedy of the 90's.
- This movie takes a hopeless premise, and mixes in two actors - Robin Williams and Sally Fields - who are so dissimilar in their talents that their pairing should be D.O.A., and pulls out a surprisingly funny and effective movie. I am stunned at the quality. Understand that Robin Williams has very limited range to his acting. See the opening scenes of Mrs. Doubtfire where he quits his job -dubbing voices into cartoons - over a trivial moral issue. Is the scene convincing? Does he appear to have the right level of passion to truly walk out on his job? No. As an actor, he is merely Robin Williams in his films. But his manic side really distinguishes him from any other actor alive. Sally Field, however, is a great actress (and greatly unappreciated, too.) She has the range to do almost anything - but cracking jokes is not her forte, and manic is not within her range at all. So what happens? Robin is enormously funny when he is getting his makeup applied by Harvey Fierstein, gigging the court-appointed monitor, and tormenting Pierce Brosnan. But in the Robin-only scenes, the film stands still -as if he is doing a stand-up routine. But when Sally is on-camera, the story moves.... and there is emotional power in the scenes. She is dead-on convincing in almost every scene, in almost every emotional state. She tells no jokes and creates a realness and a context that brings the best out of Robin's emoting. There would be no movie without Robin, but it is Sally that makes the movie something much more than Three Men and A Baby. Even Pierce Brosnan works - in an unusual twist he plays a male version of the type of role that many gorgeous actresses are accustomed to play - his role is simply to be good-looking and charming so that other characters can be jealous or lust-filled. And yet, even he shows 3-dimensionality to his character, with the help of some sensitive script-writing. So its a triumph - a genuinely interesting and fun film. Bravo!
