5 comments about The Simpsons - Christmas.
- This is a neat collection of clever Christmas episodes. I especially loved seeing legendary opera soprano Maria Callas in the classic "Mr. Plow." She appears in Homer's TV commercial. (Unfortunately, she is uncredited on the DVD box.) It was a pleasant surprise and a great Christmas gift! I would buy the DVD for this episode alone.
- Last year I bought this Simpsons Christmas DVD and it is good and has some really good Christmas and winter themed episodes from The Simpsons and the best is Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire, and I also liked Mr. Plow, Miracle on Evergreen Terrace, and She of Little Faith but didn't like Gift of the Magi which only had one funny moment but was mostly very unfunny! This DVD is good but lacking any good special features!
- I bought this DVD for my brother for Christmas, so I opened it up to see if the disk was broken and I ended up watching it.
"Simpsons roasting on an Open Fire" is a classic. I'll never get tired of Homer dressing up as Santa to bring in extra money because Marge had to spend all of the money on removing Bart's tattoo.
The stupidest Christmas episode, in my opinion, is the one with Gary Coleman. The school shuts down because Principal Skinner had to pay Fat Tony $2,000 for a broken wheelchair ramp, so the school ends up being bought by a toy company.
Anyway, great DVD for the Simpsons fan who has everything, and wants more.

- This is nice offbeat answer to the endless Rudolf and Frosty movies that go on ;)
Even my kid has asked for it a couple times.
In this collection; you have: Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire, Mr Plow, Miracle on Evergreen Terrace, Grift of the Magi, She of Little Faith and the the Mr Burns Finest Moments Featurette.
Overall they are not bad. The featurette I could care less about.
One nice aspect of this DVD is the theme of Christmas as you will not have to sift through the box sets if you have them.
However, one problem is the missing play all option. I docked it one point for that.
Now if they would only make the Treetop of Horror into one set!
- It was exactly what I wanted when I purchased it and I LOVED watching these episodes but it really made me wish the Simpsons would do more Christmas episodes like this! I wanted more at the end.
Mr. Plow though it was not a Christmas episode was freaking hilarious.
"Could you try not to scrape my asphalt?"-Plow Customer
"Kiss my asphalt"-Homer
"Put it in H!"- Foreign Car Dealer!
Freaking hilarious, so I even loved having that on there even if it wasn't a real Christmas episode. The Christmas ones were wonderful too. I always sort of hated Miracle on Evergreen Terrace but after watching it again now on DVD I can appreciate it for what it is and it is very funny. I was just kind of poed at how Bart ruined Christmas, but the references to It's a Wonderful Life and the hilarious things that ensue in the episode after it all goes down are worth it.
The extra isn't really that great IMO. Mr. Burns had more great moments than that, but the episodes make up for that big time.
Easily one of my favorite DVDs.

5 comments about A Perfect Day.
- I cannot improve on the title of this movie. I saw it on one of the networks about a year ago and taped it. Am thrilled it is going to be released on dvd. Bear with me if I don't remember all the names. Rob Lowe's character has just been fired from his job. He and his wife have a daughter about age six or seven. Money is tight and Lowe's character decides to finish a book he started entitled "A perfect day." He finishes the book, gets tons of rejection slips then an agent contacts him and wants to market his book. The book soars in popularity. Lowe's character is traveling the country, misses all his daughter's Christmas plays, misses his aunt's funeral, etc. Weaved into the story toward the end is an older gentlemen who predicts "Rob's death." I don't want to give away the story or the ending. The movie is appropriate for all ages - little ones would probably not understand it. Good discussion movie. What is more important - money or family? How much money do you really need? And what is a perfect day. The story takes place around Thanksgiving and Christmas but is appropriate for anytime. I give 5 stars for not only the acting but the great story.
- for being a made for tv movie (TNT) it think this movie is really good. has a great story, great message, great cast...
great addition for any holiday movie collection.
- A perfect Day is one of those films that are great for a cool winter evening. Cuddle up on the couch with your family and enjoy the heart warming journey to success and back to valuing what is really important. Rob Lowe, Christopher Lloyd and a well chosen cast bring the Richard Paul Evans novel to life.
It's not a Hallmark production, but it is packed with good solid storytelling and performances. Love never goes out of style.
Tim Lasiuta
- I liked this movie. It is a good family movie. It doesn't go by the book all the way through but I have given up on hollywood ever going by the book! The acting is good, and the story is good. The book gives soooo many more details that make the story make sense. Read the book first, then watch the movie.
A man's dream of a national best seller and his dream comes true. What he does with that sucess is not so good.
- A good movie that shows you what is important in life.Watch this when you need to feel good about life.

- This is Way overdue. This movie was something I saw on a vhs rental back in 1985. It's been way out of print, and I have a vhs copy that I recorded last Christmas morning on Turner Classic Movies. This is a true story, and considered among many lists to be one of the strongest tear jerking movies of all time. I can't wait for this to come on dvd in November. Even the box looks just like the original cover art of the Vhs version from long ago. I can't wait. If only it was in widescreen, oh well.

5 comments about Rugrats Holiday Celebration (Halloween/Turkey & Mistletoe).
- It was great it had all the holiday episodes except for the jewish flood one and some extra ones totalling to 206 minutes of rugrats
- This is a great set of some of the best Rugrat shows. Fun for everyone from infant to adult. Some of the best holiday cartoons that are out there. Great explanations of Kwanzaa, and Chanukah. Hilarious Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Halloween shows.
- MY KIDS AGES 4 AND 6YRS OLD LOVE RUGRATS.WE HAVE ALL THE RUGRATS COLLECTION IN FORM OF DVDS N VHS.ALL OF WHICH I FOUND SO INTERESTING N ADVENTUROUS.EVERY EACH OF THE RUGRATS CHARACTER IS UNIQUE.I, MYSELF LOVE TO WATCH THEM.EVEN THE "BAD" ANGELICA IS INTERESTING!!!.WE LOVE IT
- The video came very quickly, and it was everything I knew Rugrats to be. I higly recommend it!
- The one reason I had wanted this set the most was for the first Halloween episode where the babies scare the older children in the haunted house. I had hoped it would be there, no such luck.
The first DVD Disc "Halloween", includes "Curse of the Wereruff" the only true Halloween feature. The episode has the gang attending a holiday theme park, where Chuckie fears becoming a werewolf.
Tommy's Brother, Dill is in this story too.
"Ghost Story" has the characters in round adding parts to a silly, and sometimes a bit creepy story.
"Aunt Marian" the babies think a visiting aunt is really from outer space.
"Sleep Trouble" has Tommy and Chuckie worried about the Sand Man, after hearing a story from Tommy's Dad, Stu.
"Spike's Night Scare" a turkey's giving Spike a run for his money.
Disc two "Turkey & Mistletoe" is a better set. "Babes In Toyland has Angelica hunting down Santa with her long list, as Stu's robotic, and electrical land fall apart.
"The Turkey Who Came To Dinner" has a moral attached. This episode has all the main characters. Tommy, Chuckie, Angelica and the Twins "Phil and Lil find Grandpa's winning, and uncooked turkey.
Angelica tricks the crew into being in her holiday parade, and not telling the grownups about the turkey.
The Rugrats try to keep their feathered friend safe, and hope to come up with an escape plan. Each attempt fails, and the adults soon see this turkey.
The grownups blame their day's disappointment on the turkey. The babies surround their new friend, protecting him. Their actions shed light on the true meaning of the holiday.
"A Rugrat's Kwanzaa" focuses on Susie Carmichael. Everyone she feels has a trophy, but her. Without an award makes celebration difficult.
"The Santa Experience" has the toddlers going to a log cabin for Christmas.
An earlier trip to see a store Santa sends Angelica into a frenzy. Not impressed with the store's free Christmas presents she cons the babies to trade toys for each other, losing their importance.
Hearing that bad children get coal for Christmas changes her train of thought.
"Chanukah" has the youngsters assisting Grandpa,Boris, in a theatrical retelling of the holiday.

5 comments about Christmas Child (A Max Lucado Story).
- but the acting is not that great. It is typical of a lot of Christian movies though. The story line is great and can be viewed by all family members.
A husband and wife are going through a tough time in their marriage so one of them goes on a journey of sorts to find out more about themself and where they came from. A beautiful ending to a very good movie.
- A wonderful story with a Christmas and Christian message. A must-have for any Christmas library.
- Unlike so many Christmas stories where everything is all nice and neat and tied with a bow, this is more true to life. A childless couple's marriage is having some problems, Jack (William Moses) is going through an identity crisis and a dry spell in his writing career. His wife Meg (Megan Follows) is going through some changes of her own and seeks a nice romantic holiday in which to share them. This is not to be and Jack's need to go away to do a story in Dallas is feeling like the last straw for her. His career needs the story, but he also needs to find some answers about his past and detours to Clearwater to find them. Jack does act like a bit of a jerk, guys going through career, marriage, and personal problems often do. The way he is treated by those who work with him indicate that he is a nice guy but is maybe being hard on Meg who wants more than he has been able to give for a while.
Megan Follows doesn't get nearly the screen time I would have liked, but she is impeccable as a loving wife who is facing doubts about the future of her relationship with her husband just as she needs him to be closer than ever. She is able to say so much with a look and expression and is the best I've seen at emotional scenes, and there are a few. She also has a chance to get dolled up for a party and is simply lovely.
The supporting cast is competent and often shines. Fans of Steven Curtis Chapman will be happy with his role as the Pastor and are familiar with his advocacy of adoption, a thread that runs through the film. All of the roles seem well filled and the story has a natural feel to it. All in all it is a good clean story of finding, or remembering that the things that are really important in life aren't things. The behind the scenes look is very well done and covers all aspects of the story from the idea behind the book to adaptation to film, including the creation of a life sized nativity carved from solid blocks of wood like the one that inspired the story. View the trailer online to get a feel for this Christmas time story that is more for daddies and mommies than tiny tots.
- When I first saw a few minutes of this movie, I was afraid it might be a trite TV film. After deciding to read the Lucado book it's based on, however, watching the film became a must and I am so glad to own this treasure! It does both the gem of a book it's based on and its brilliant author Max Lucado proud.
A young husband and journalist, Jack Davenport, is in search of his past and clues to his birth parents. His search takes him to Clearwater Texas, where he finds several more crossroads and many kind, though sometimes secretive people. This movie is perfectly true to the book, though of course several characters and a big stretch of time is added. In the book, for example, Jack finds what he's searching for the same day of his arrival in the small town; in the movie, naturally, more time was needed and it takes him several days and a lot of frusteration before he finds what he seeks. The transition from book to film was brilliantly done; this gorgeous movie simultaneously stands by itself well and perfectly compliments the book.
The addition of characters in the film were wonderful and, rather than being a cheesy TV film, this gem is wonderfully realistic. I've rarely ever seen a TV film which portrays such realistic and fleshed-out characters and situations. This beautiful film, while aimed at grown-ups, is not inappropriate for children and could serve as a prime family film. With its timeless message of love, committment, forgiveness, and redemption, I know I'll be treasuring it forever :)
- This movie I saw on TV last year. I thought it was something else. I nearly nixed it, but wanted to watch a little bit more. Finally, I got involved with the search and had to see the solution to the mystery. This is a good movie. I recommend it highly.

4 comments about The Christmas Star.
- This wonderful Christmas film debuted in 1986, and stars Ed Asner as a mean crook named Horace McNickle who escapes from jail- his partner in crime got off, and he wants revenge. When he escapes, he meets some kids who live in an apartment building who are faced with a grim Christmas. Their parents are struggling financially, and may be evicted if they can't make the rent. The landlord is Rene Auberjonois (Odo from Deep Space Nine), and has a son who is the "bully" played by Zachary Ansley (The Journey of Natty Gan). Asner is following the clues left to him leading to a fortune, and he enlists the children (who have no idea that he is an escape convict- they even think he's Santa!) to help him find it. There is a great scene where Ed is on a train and has a supernatural experience, very Scrooge-like, which changes his life forever.
As the movie progresses, the mean are transformed and all begin to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. I remember watching this on the Wonderful World of Disney which at the time was hosted by Michael Eisner (the current President of Disney). I am delightfully surprised and glad that Disney is releasing this great film on dvd. If you want to see Ed Asner in a role like never before, get this movie in time for the next holiday season. You won't regret it!
- One of the truly great Christmas films at long last comes to DVD. Ed Asner, Fred Gwynne, Rene Auberjenois, and writer/director Alan Shapiro and his talented crew make this Dickens-esque family perennial a must-see. Do yourself a favor and get a copy.
- This film in my opinion bears as much weight and power as Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol." It depicts the power of family and love in an amazing fashion and features a wonderfully done soundtrack... if you watch only two Christmas films next season, let those two be "A Christmas Carol" and "The Christmas Star."
The story begins when a bearded man breaks out of prison during the holidays disguised as Santa Claus. He hides from police in a utility cellar and is found by a couple of children who actually believe him to be the one and only true Santa. The love and warmth shared between the children's parents is seen as it filters down, out and through their own children-- who unknowingly help to bring the light of love and peace into the heart and soul of a most wanted man.
This film is rich in every respect... it has some moments that are laugh-out-loud funny, moments of great warmth, moments that are deeply moving, as well as others that are thought provoking as they are serious. This film is clean and good in every respect... and is probably one of Disney's greatest masterpieces. If you buy one film this year, make it this one. You won't regret it.
- This is a very good movie for Christmas time showing the Spirit of giving even from a criminal. Very touching movie.

- it my me feel very glad and joyous which is put of the christmas season.
- This item came in time for Christmas and my children just loved it. I had been having a hard time finding these shows for them...so I was so happy to get them.
- The seller sent it to the wrong address and when it was returned to them they kept my shipping fee and never sent out the product to the correct address. My daughter was expecting this before christmas and was extremeley disappointed. This was by far the worst customer service i have ever received. It was also unethical to keep my shipping fee as well. I would recommend never doing business with this retailer.
- I loved most (don't personally care for Frosty Returns - don't consider it one of the classics) of these movies growing up and to get them in 1 pack instead of purchasing all individually is wonderful, considering my husband recently bought the Rudolph one by itself and spent almost $[...] for just the one. My 1 complaint: some of the footage is less sharp than the DVDs you normally purchase, but I would assume there were some restoration issues (and hey - these are from 35+ years ago). Frankly, I think only DVD snobs will be bothered by this (except the footage of Little Drummer Boy is rather dark in some places - yet you can still certainly see everything.) My 2 year old loves them too!
- It's a series of classic Christmas cartoons...who needs a review? My kids love it!

2 comments about Nick Jr. Favorites - Holiday.
- Nick Jr. Favorites Holiday is the latest release in the series, featuring holiday-themed episodes of some top Nick Jr. shows, some of which are no longer making new episodes. Fans of these wonderful Nick Jr. programs won't want to pass on this.
"Blue's Big Holiday"
Blue and Steve celebrate a variety of holidays. This is a fun episode, though I'm pretty sure it's available on another DVD.
"Merry Christmas, Little Bill!"
"Little Bill" no longer airs on Nick Jr. in the U.S. and doesn't air on Noggin, so any episodes they give us on DVD are golden. In this episode, twice the length of a normal two-story "Little Bill" episode, the Glover Family is celebrating Christmas. No Kwanzaa for them, Christmas. Little Bill is excited about a visit from Alice the Great, but disappointed when her flight home from a visit to a cousin in Cincinnati (is it just me or do cousins / uncles / aunts, etc. on TV shows always come from somewhere in my home state of Ohio?) is delayed. Will he find a way to bring her home?
"The Snow Fort"
I adore "The Backyardigans," but once again, this is available elsewhere. Still, it's pretty cool. In this one, Pablo and Tyrone are Mounties protecting a fort, while Uniqua and Tasha are the Ski Patrol.
"Catrina's First Snow / The Snow Festival"
Ah, Oswald. A delightful show that used to air on both Nick Jr. and Noggin, but is no longer on either in the U.S. Fred Savage's voice for Oswald reminds me of the late John Ritter's for Clifford the Big Red Dog. In these two relaxing, comfortable stories, Oswald first takes baby Catrina out for fun in the snow and then organizes fun activities for a snow festival after a freak snowstorm changes plans for a fall festival.
This DVD also includes "Dora the Explorer" --- "To the South Pole" and "Max and Ruby" --- "Max's Christmas / Ruby's Snow Queen / Max's Rocket Run." I don't really think much of either show (except for the swinging theme song for "Dora"), but I know they're reasonably popular. Oh --- and the "Dora" episode is a more recent one, featuring star-catching.
- My kids love this DVD! All the holiday episodes in one DVD. It's great!

5 comments about Blizzard.
- This was a wonderful, magical movie. My sister & I loved it. I liked how Katie learned about friendship and I liked the ice skating. The North Pole was cool. Blizzard was funny, but she really cared about others. We watched it during a heat wave, but can't wait til Christmas to watch it again.
- Finally a modern movie with the the old quality charm and warmth of the older classics! Once you begin watching, you won't want to stop until you have seen it all. It has everything that you could want in a movie: suspense, warmth, a plot that will surprise and amaze you, happiness, tears, and a surprise ending. Now for the bonus. There is no foul language or inappropriate content. All ages can watch this film together. This is one DVD that my family will probably wear out.
- Blizzard is a superb family Christmas show. This show will be in my collection of movies I will be watching every Christmas season.
I give the movie high ratings all the way around.
- THIS IS AN EXCELLENT MOVIE. IT WAS ONLY ON ONE TIME DURING THE WHOLE CHRISTMAS SEASON IN 2007. YOU CANNOT BUY THIS MOVIE OR RENT IT ANYWHERE EXCEPT ON AMAZON. YOU WILL BE VERY PLEASED IT IS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS.
- This is a heart warming movie that says to me, when we dream and have visions of who we are and want to be, 'let nothing stand in our way of believing we can be what we want to be', as with Katie. Whether we are young or old, 'never stop believing in Santa Claus'.
