  1. I love this claymation video! It's full of Christmas songs and carols sung by fun claymation characters. "The Carol of the Bells" led by Quasimodo is hilarious, and you'll be tapping your feet to "We Three Kings" sung by three camels. Two dinosaurs host the show and they are really fun to watch. Fun for all ages!

  2. This has been a favorite in my family for years. It's a fun video to watch over and over. I'm so glad it's back in print - I jumped through hoops ten years ago trying to find it!! Get this - you won't be sorry!!

  3. We look forward to this show every year, it's great lighthearted family fun!! Just watch as the california raisins take over our favorite holiday it's absolute ravoc!

  1. This is a wonderful Halloween tale centered around a teenage boy who's very distraught by his parents' divorce. As he reluctantly goes trick-or-treating with his friends, he comes upon the magic spirit of Halloween in the form of a Pumpkin and a scary but kind neighborhood hermit who offers understanding and guidance to our young hero. I highly recommend it - it is one of my children (8 & 12) favorite videos and very uplifting.

  2. This is a great story showing how a family and community can come together and help a child in need. And this, unlike most Halloween fare, really illustrates the good natured spirit of Halloween the way it's suppose to be for kids. Thank you.

  1. A little mystery, a little danger and a lot of excitement make a wonderful story for younger children. These new chacters are very family friendly. The songs included are great. A nice feature to the DVD is that you can access these songs individually should your child want to just sing along to the music. The animator sketching the characters is an interesting Disneyesque feature. We can't wait for the book and the plush characters to be available for purchase.

  2. I love the Wompkees! Finally, a holiday program I can watch with my three year old where she isn't overstimulated, and I'm not bored to tears. The Wompkees are entertaining for young and old alike. The characters are cute and funny. This is a DVD I won't mind watching over and over. The songs are catchy...not kitschy. My daughter is already hoping to find a plush "Twig" doll under the tree.

  3. This is an extremely enjoyable film that is perfect for young children and parents to watch together. The color, animation and sound are all excellent and the story is destined to become a classic. The DVD's bonus features include a fun 'behind the scenes' look at a very talented artist drawing the Wompkee characters. The Wompkees should be on everyone's Chistmas list this year!

  4. My family loves this movie! We first saw it on PBS and fell in love with the sweet green Wompkee creatures. My mom got the DVD for my little brother (who's 6)and he watches is a million times a day. He even makes up new stories for the Wompkees and tells us all about them. Also the songs are really sweet and get stuck in your head. P.S. Don't tell anyone that I watch the mnovie over his shoulder sometimes (I'm 14).

  5. Although the Wompkee creatures themselves are cute and the overall story is fine, the Ice Queen continually uses the word "hate" throughout her scenes in the movie. Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I don't like hearing that word, particularly with the inflection used in a young children's movie. I don't quite understand why it was necessary.

  1. The Wompkees, big-eared elfin characters, are preparing for a wonderful Christmas celebration, as it is Christmas Eve in the magical world or Wompkee Wood. Twig, the smallest Wompkee, is praying and hoping that her wish will come true. That she will be able to fly just like all of the other Wompkees of Wompkee Wood, like Scout, and Buster, and Daisy. It doesn't look as if little Twig will get her wish, until Iglora Borealis, the evil ice witch, tries to ruin Christmas for the Wompkees, and it's up to little Twig to save Christmas, and all of Wompkee Wood.

A VERY WOMPKEE CHRISTMAS is an adorable movie for all fans of Teletubbies, as it is done with 3D animation that will have toddlers bursting with joy and excitement. Twig is a fun character, with an adorably squeaking voice, who learns a very important lesson just in time for the holidays. Filled with original songs that young viewers will love to sing-along with, A VERY WOMPKEE CHRISTMAS is a must-have, that you can watch the whole year through.

1 comments about Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
  1. In just telling the story in the song "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" would make for a decent enough animated holiday television show. But where the 1964 production from Jules Bass and Arthur Rankin Jr. achieved greatness was in the creativeness it showed with the supporting cast. The story is narrated by Sam the Snowman, voiced by Burl Ives (who sang the second most popular version of the song after Gene Autry's orignal), and Rudolph (Billie Mae Richards) becomes friends with both Hermey (Paul Soles), the elf who marches to his own drummer, and Yukon Cornelius (Larry D. Mann), the prospector. However, the most unforgettable characters in this story are the toys from the Island of Misfit Toys: Charlie-in-the-Box, the Spotted Elephant, and the others, along with their leader, King Moonracer.

The result is a much deeper version of the story than was even hinted at in the lyrics of Johnny Marks' classic Christmas song. We all now how the story is going to end on that foggy Christmas eve, so it is everything leading up to that fateful night that is where this story gets its deserved reputation as Rudolph is not the only one who ends up having their life take a turn for the better, as even the Abominable Snowman finds he can put the finishing touches on a perfect Christmas. Besides, how often does a dentist get to be the hero in a Christmas story?

Bass-Rankin took at similar approach in 1970 with "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town," and while that animated holiday show is pretty good and worth watching each Christmas season, this one is better. If you have been in a store and seen the looks of pure delight on people's faces when they see the line of toy figures associated with "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," then you already know this. Hard to believe this particular "Rudolph" will enjoy its fortieth anniversary next year.

  1. Four classic Christmas tales are featured on this collection; each tale was originally produced for television in the 1950s. The collection begins with "The Adventures of Long John Silver: The Orphans' Christmas," in which Miss Purity and Long John Silver demonstrate their kindness by helping a group of orphans enjoy the holiday season. "Annie Oakley: Santa Claus Wears A Gun" follows, telling the story of a Santa Claus lookalike who is accused of armed robbery. Next up, "The Adventures of Robin Hood: The Christmas Goose" sees Robin and his merry bunch of men trying to save a cute little goose from ending up on the Christmas dinner table. Then, completing the collection, "The Adventures of the Scarlet Pimpernel: The Christmas Present" tells the story of four children trapped in a house in France, who are desperate to make it back to their native England for the holiday season.

  1. This is masterpice. Mr. Davis and Mannheim Steamroller shows a beautiful voyage through of the Renaissance and Modern Christmas. Obligator item for a different Christmas. One programs for all the family.

  2. CHIP DAVIS AND MANNHEIM STEAMROLLER MAKE CHRISTMAS MORE WONDERFUL
WITH THIS VIDEO. CHIP'S DISCRIPTION OF THE DIFFERENT SONGS AND
THEIR MEANINGS HELP MAKE THIS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.

  3. This is an absolutely wonderful concert. My entire family watches it every year, from my 7 year old son (who begs to see it over and over starting right after Thanksgiving) to my 64 year old mother. The music is top notch, and the stories it tells are heart warming. It has now become one of our most favorite holiday videos. It is very different from the normal holiday videos like A Charlie Brown Christmas or A Christmas Story (two of our favorites). It can be used to sit and watch or to put on for background music during your Christmas dinner. It is an excellent addition to any Christmas video collection.

  4. I was at this concert. I have been a huge fan of Manheim Steamroller since the 1970's. I paid $75 for a front seat to what I thought would be one of the greatest 'Live' performances I'd ever seen. Each of the songs was played exactly as it was arranged in the original studio recordings. I spoke personally with the sound technician at the concert and he admitted that there were up to 12 'backing' tracks which were taken from the original studio recordings. Even their sacred rendition of 'Silent Night' with its tear invoking solo violin was actually pre-recorded, not 'Live'. When I spoke with the Manheim Steamroller spokesperson on the phone after I had gone to the concert, I was told that "...most professional performers used backing tracks in their 'Live' concerts." I paid $75 to hear pre-recorded songs at a 'Live' concert. So I guess you could say that Chip Davis is like all the rest, Milly Vanilly, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, etc. etc. Sad. If you want to hear Manheim Steamroller, play their studio recorded cd's. If you want to see them, go see a concert. But if you want to actually hear them perform their music live, forget it. They don't do 'Live'.

  5. This is a wonderful holiday tape. It has superb stereo Christmas music with a very clear sound. Some of the Christmas music is original. The music is supported by vivid original videos, some intricately acted out. Don't miss this one.
