5 comments about The Three Tenors Christmas.
- When these three get together nothing less than greatness should be expected. this has greatness
- Without doubt the three greatest tenors on the planet today particularly the gorgeous voice of Placido Domingo! In this Christmas programme they are supported by a Master Conductor, and accompanied by a truly superb Choir. Certainly a DVD to own and to be placed in a prominent spot in my library.
- OK, the whole Three Tenors franchise was an exercise in shark-jumping, so the title and one-star rating may be beside the point. This whole venture was never much more than high camp, and if that's your taste, you can't do better than this DVD. When I tuned in to a PBS broadcast (how proud I am that our fine public television folks use this as a fundraising device) my wife's first reaction was that it seemed like a Saturday Night Live spoof (actually, even SNL did better, with a remarkably lovely rendition of Adeste Fideles with Pavarotti and Vanessa Williams back around 1999). Watching these fellows sing Winter Wonderland or Sleigh Ride, it's hard not to die from laughter (sort of like when they sang My Way in their Dodger Stadium show). Well produced, but if you want great Christmas-season music making, I'd refer you to Pavarotti's 1978 concert in Montreal's Notre Dame Basilica (a PBS staple for much of the 1980s and 90s), and I'll be forever happy that I heard the great Domingo sing Siegmund in Washington last year.
- Excelente CD !!!
if you are looking for the best Christmas songs in a very charming way and with the best tenors of the world then GO FOR IT.
- The visuals of Paris are stunning and beautiful. The visuals of the orchestra is movingly wonderful. The visuals of the singers is stunning. So often on TV infomercials, one sees sales of CD music while a video of the original singer is displayed. Listening to the music alone is one experience, but listening and watching the singer sing is a whole other experience that transcends simply listening. The Three Tenors lifts one to a higher standard above the listening which is also heavenly.

- This is the worst movie/video in the history of cinema/ anorexia. It is so fake, like all the others. They save people, their is some loser slut girl who wants to be mean to them and steal the two "hot" guys that they found in the Mary-Kate and Ashely "BANK OF BOYS AND CHEESEY COMEBACKS". Thier is 2 bad guys in this movie, Brianna Wallis, and Champlain (who named him, Shwine and Shwodka), and they "beat biranna" and save the world from champlain and his smugiling ways. They are rich pansies who have a dad who is a CEO of a huge company/ superhero/ pilot. who has planes and limos all over the world. and their is their dads partenr in bissness who has a son who likes MK and in one scene wears his trowsers too low and you can see his Crotch line. They get everything their way and have everthing. the guys they like are ugly and need traning bras because they "work out" too much. Ahsleys boyfreind goes to jail, the stop champlaine, and are announced heros. They are really shallow and care more about guys named Scott, Jordan, and Griffin, (all boy's names who are oozing stupitiy) than thier own family. They ignore curfue and get rewarded with dates and fun, they do it agian and are punished with a 50 second time out, they do it agian with an ugly yatch and save the world. The songs are luckily not sung by them but they stink anyway. THIS THING STINKS.
- I didn't really like this film I thought it was to slow and boring. It mainly about mary-kate and ashley and they find boyfriends and it goes on very slowly. Not my cup of tea but thats just my oppion I think a lot of people won't like this film. You know I do love mary-kate and Ashley but just not in this film. Although I think New york minute is very good (with mary-kate and ashley). i wasn't dissing you girls but not very good.
- Along with Our Lips Are Sealed, Passport to Paris, and that one movie that took place in Italy, the Olsen twins have made another crappy film.
Between desperate Griffin trying to help clueless Scott get Madison to think he's "smart" and Jordan being Mr. Cool over Alex...what's the difference between Madison and Alex??? This movie truly stinks.
It's all MK and Ash having fluffy fun at an island resort, and then saving the US from Champlain.
Give this movie to an 8-year-old girl for Christmas...they'll love it.
- Mary-Kate and Ashley are spending Winter Break at the lavish Atlantis, Paradise Island resort in The Bahamas. Their parents bring them along, but that means they have to miss their school trip to Hawaii with all their friends.
Determined to make the best of the situation, the girls decide there's only one thing to do: unleash a tropical hurricane of off-the-hock action and head-over-heals tropical romance.
But, amid the yachts, private jets, waverunners, scuba diving, motor scooters, horseback riding and moonlit strolls, Mary-Kate and Ashley stumble across an antiquities smuggling ring! Mary-Kate and Ashley discover the time of their lives on their...
Holiday in the Sun!
- This by-far my favorite Mary-Kate and Ashley movie! The others were pretty good but I just can't get this one out of my head. The girls go the the Bahamas and there is adventure, romance, and just plain fun. Every since I've watched this I have wanted to go visit The Atlantis. The movie starts out with 2 girls and their parents doing vacation at the Bahamas. Of course they are heart broken because all their other friends got to go to Hawaii. They meet with the family friends and the adventure begins. The scrawny young friend they used to have is now a VERY cute, not so scrawny young man. There is also an employee at the resort that turns a couple of heads himself. They catch crooks, swim with dolphins, shop in some cool locations, and fall for the best guys, lol. Anyone that likes M-K and A movies will definitely love it. You won't be able to resist.

5 comments about The Holiday (2006) [Blu-ray].
- Have you ever had a moment in your life where things have dramatically changed? And you didn't know how you were going to pick yourself up? Well I happened to catch this movie half way through when a relationship literally came to an end. This movie has to be one of the most heart mending movies I've ever seen. Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Jack Black are very enjoyable in this. It's so great to see Jack Black in a serious love interest role. If I had never seen this movie, I would've never believed he could pull this off. This movie will warm your heart no matter where you are in life.
- If you are an "Under The Tuscan Sun" fan you'll want to add this one to your chick flick collection. It gets better and better with each viewing (great to watch in bed, especially if you are an insomniac). Nancy Meyers is just a genius at adding the perfect complimentary music to her films. There's an atmosphere to the whole thing. If only to watch the brilliant, BRILLIANT Kate Winslet act, you should get it. First time I saw the movie I thought Diaz was a little broad but the more I watch it the more I am impressed by her and appreciate her comedic talents. Jude Law, yummy. Not sure why Meyers cast Jack Black, but he delivers. This DVD is a no brainer to buy if you have even the slightest hint of a romantic bone in your body.
- Amanda Woods (Cameron Diaz) is a Hollywood producer who's just gotten her heart broken; Iris Simkins (Kate Winslet) lives in England and is also at the losing end of a romance. Both ladies are miserable and decide to get away from home for Christmas. They find each other on an online house-switch site and before you can say "I know how this is going to end!" Amanda is living in a cozy English cottage and Iris is ensconced in a luxurious LA mansion. And you'll never guess what happens next. (Okay, you will guess - in about half a minute.)
Diaz, Winslet, and co-stars Jude Law and Jack Black are all fine here, looking beautiful and clever and giving sincere performances. It's not their fault that the script is so predictable and corny with no room for WHY these new loves blossom so quickly, so blissfully, and so conveniently, considering the women are emotionally wounded and would need some time to heal and the men are not looking for relationships. And what exactly are the odds of meeting your dream mate within hours of moving to a foreign country? Eli Wallach gives a winning performance as a doddering old scriptwriter befriended by Iris, but again, it's all too perfect; there's no question that they will become instant buddies and that their lives will both be enriched by their friendship.
If I were a woman in the 18-26 target group, I'd probably love this movie and even shed a few tears at it; as it is, I just kept thinking, "Well, there's five hours of my life I'll never get back." (What? It's only 136 minutes? Impossible! I thought it would never end.)
- Happy music and a happy, feel good movie (Director, Nancy Meyers) (Music by Hans Zimmer). When I need a romantic comedy pick-me-up, I also reach for Love Actually, Wedding Date, You've Got Mail, Walk in the Clouds, Must Love Dogs, Mamma Mia...
- This movie makes me wanna cry. I love the actors and Black Jack is totally different in this movie. Worth to watch with boyfriend or husband, haha.

5 comments about Winnie the Pooh - Springtime with Roo.
- We rented this movie from Blockbuster. A part when rabbit's friends are missing was his worst nightmare
- If there is justice in the universe, the ghost of A.A. Milne haunts Michael Eisner on a nightly basis for films like this one.
The plotline is almost indecipherable, and the references to "Easter" are absolutely pointless since what you have here is a determinedly secular film trying to dance around the meaning of a religious holiday.
At one point, Rabbit actually physically throws the other characters out of his house in a way that is almost violent. For anyone who has grown up loving what the Pooh stories were originally all about, this film is a new low.
- My 2 1/2 year-old son loves all things Pooh and I guess this is no exception. Unfortunately for him, he won't be watching it again. I don't understand why Disney decided to make an "Easter" DVD that had nothing to do with Easter. I mean they could have done a "springtime" DVD (as the show's title would imply) with their own made-up holiday, but that's not the case here. I imagine that non-Christian parents wouldn't want their kids watching anything having to do with Christian holidays, whereas Christian parents will likely be confused and disappointed by how this DVD repeatedly tries to explain "the true meaning of Easter" without ever even alluding to Christian doctrine. I certainly don't look to Disney for spiritual enlightenment, but neither do I expect from them such pointless and confusing children's fare. Please look to Heffalump, The Tigger Movie, or Piglet's Big Movie for more wholesome, innocent entertainment.
- What can you say, it is Pooh and friends, but this allows Roo to shine in the spotlight. We had bought this movie before, and it got broken, now that we have it again, it is watched alot, has taught her to see what she has heard about the workings of Easter
- I usually love everything Winnie the Pooh that comes along. This movie is almost painful to watch. There aren't any catchy songs, the storyline is stretched thin, and Rabbit's character is downright mean (I might even go as far as to say that he's abusive, while the other characters try to make excuses for him). The only glint of wit in it is when Tigger makes a Dickens reference, as this is an unabashed and abyssmal rip-off of a Dickens classic. Even my children are less than thrilled with it, and at ages 2 and 4 they are usually easy to please, as long as it's animated. The younger child is now afraid of Rabbit. Don't waste your money on this one: Pooh's Heffalump Movie, Piglet's BIG Movie, The Tigger Movie are all so much better!

5 comments about Silent Night.
- This is a great movie for the entire family. Enough action, drama, and great ending.
- Silent Night is a story about how peace can transform and heal. In the midst of terrible fighting between the Americans and Germans during World War II, an isolated cabin in a German forest, and its two inhabitants, becomes the stage for what is a gripping drama on Christmas Eve. From the moment it starts, there is something special about this movie. Linda Hamilton puts in a convincing and riviting performance as a German mother left alone with her son in her isolated cabin as they become embroiled in a confrontation between American and German soldiers, both sides out to destroy each other, in her very house. It's only because of the mother's deep faith in the meaning of peace that the opposing forces are transformed. Although this is a movie set on the eve of Christmas and as such has an understandably religious undertone, its message of the power of peace trancends all faiths whether one is a believer or not and is a cathartic experience. The wonderful black and white filming serves to underscore the isolation of the cabin in the cold German winter and the acting is outstanding from all members of the cast. Linda Hamilton is so transformed in her role that you might not recognize her as the Linda Hamilton of the well-known Terminator movies. Whether you are a beleiver in Christian faith or not, this is a movie for all people to experience. And if you are a believer you'll want to see this movie on Christmas Eve. Run out and get this movie, it's a movie you'll never forget.
- I love this story for its warmth and humanity shown at Christmas time...I'm delighted to add it to my Christmas collection.
- There are not enough superlatives to heap on SILENT NIGHT! I can nearly always do without Christmas movies, and war pictures usually put me to sleep, but this gem is a not-to-be-missed film for anyone with half a heart. The writing, and direction were excellent. The absolute absurdity of war was brought home in this movie, deftly, but firmly, and with a warmth that all of the other feel-good, holiday pics I've been exposed to in my lifetime never have come close to.
The cast for SILENT NIGHT was excellent, but it is Linda Hamilton's wonderfully moving performance as a war-weary German mother trying desperately to protect her son that is unforgettable.
- This is certainly a classic--one to be watched again and again, especially during the Christmas season. Silent Night, which is based on a true story, is fast paced, entertaining and inspiring. A great movie for the whole family (as long as parents review it first because of the violence of war ).

5 comments about A Child's Christmas in Wales.
- I have an LP recording of the story which is narrated by the author, Dylan Thomas. This beautiful film is surely the next best thing, if not better because it is enhanced by a sensitive and faithful dramatization. Denholm Eliot's narration does justice to Thomas' exquisite language.
- A four-person, three-generation family tucked into a charming little cottage in Wales on Christmas eve. Grandpa's stories of the Christmases of his youth (Dylan Thomas' words brought to life by Denholm Elliott's wonderful face and marvelous voice and an extended series of beautifully filmed "flashbacks" to an earlier and even simpler time.)
It's everything you could want a Christmas eve story to be without any of the modern-day Santa Claus or superficially religious clap-trap. Wistful. Elegant. A thoroughly believable masterpiece.
No cynicism. No saccharine silliness. No "Little Drummer Boy" or "Do You Hear What I Hear?" Just a purity of purpose and performance that leaves one on the verge of tears and bliss simultaneously.
- Thank you so very much for this DVD. We didn't get our first mailing and you graciously gave us another with no charge. We will send back anything that may arrive at a later date.
Again, thank you for being so generous.

- have searched long and hard for this dvd....one of my most favourite Thomas creations...I know some libeties were taken with the story and text but still a gem! thank you some much for a very early Christmas present!
- I really love this movie. My grandparents came over from Wales and it makes me think of what their childhoods might have been like. It's a wonderful movie and I watch it every year, plus I purchased afew as gifts and everyone has loved it...

- A Wiggly Wiggly Christmas is a fabulous CD for all ages! The tunes are very catchy! My 10 month old and my 4 year old love it! It really keeps them entertained. They love to dance along with the festive sounds!
- NOT AS GOOD AS THE NEW MOVIES THEY HAVE OUT. SUCH AS THE BIG RED BOAT. NOT AS CREATIVE IN THE OLD SHOWS.
- What can I say.. I have a 2.5 year old addicted to this movie!! But I love it cause as I play my Christmas CD's around the house he will sing Silent night with me & knows the words cause he loves watching this movie & they sing Silent night too!! Very catchy tunes!! I catch my 10 & 12 year old glued now & then too as they pass through the room!! :) Enjoy!
- This is the best Wiggles Christmas video. The set and production quality is low budget but the songs are so upbeat and catchy we have such a hard time putting it away in January! This is our third christmas with this video, and I hope they are not too old for it next year because my husband and I both love it too!
- Wonderful Christmas video! We were shocked that in this politically correct world they (very popular kid's entertainers) actually still make videos that talk about the true meaning of Christmas, Baby Jesus!!! Kudos to the Wiggles! Both my kids love it!! They are almost 4 years old and 14 months old! Buy it, buy it!!!!

5 comments about Black Christmas (Unrated Widescreen Edition).
- I have to say, I really hate when classic films are remade to get the attention of new audiences, but when it comes to a film like Black Christmas, it certainly needed a remake. The original dud was so over-the-top boring that a remake actual sounds like a horrible idea, but by completely refreshing the idea a pretty good movie came along. I'm not saying this is the greatest horror film of all time, but at least this Black Christmas is a fun way to spend 90 minutes. I've really missed the slasher films of the 80's and everyone's out there doing their own takes on "Scream" over and over, it's about time we fans get a big budget campy gore movie. The acting isn't horrible, the gore is awesome, the villain is new, it's creepy, funny, and just all around awesome. I honestly don't see how people expect to go into a film like Black Christmas and get an intelligent spine-tingling film, and I'm pretty sure that's where the bad reviews come from. If you go into a horror movie expecting a good time, this one can't disappoint.
- The quality of the DVD was great, however, this movie wasn't worth the $1 that I spent for it. Poor acting and a dry plot plaqued it. STAY AWAY, FAR AWAY!!!!
- Horror purists weren't too happy about a remake to Bob Clark's 1974 cult classic Black Christmas, but don't go into the remake expecting anything like the original about the only thing this version has in common with the original, is the name and setting. We don't learn much about whom Billy or Agnes is. But in the remake that is all explained.
Outside of the opening murder scene, Black Christmas 06 is a totally different movie. If anything this is more of a remake to your run of the mill 80s slasher movie. The original Black Christmas is one of the all time greats and I would recommend any aspiring horror filmmaker to watch it so they can learn how to craft a story, suspense and effective scares. The sense of dread and looming danger never lets up from the opening scene, even in the slower scenes that sense of dread remains. The same cannot be said about the remake; there really was very little suspense or tension. All that is replaced with a high body count and a lot of gore; at least there is some action something this movie needed. Violence and gore doesn't make a movie good, but at least something is happening and again this movie very much needed all of that.
The script by Glen Morgan is rather weak; the characters are your standard slasher movie characters with very little depth. But one thing I did like is Kate Cassidy, Michelle Trachtenberg or Mary Elizabeth Winstead could have easily been the final girl. I won't spoil, which one of them is, but either one could have been. Glen Morgan was one of the writers of the first Final Destination, which I thought was excellent and he also did a good job with Willard, but here it's like a whole different filmmaker.
As director Glen Morgan doesn't fair much better; his scenes lack any suspense or tension, but he does make a movie that is absolutely hysterical even if it wasn't the intentions of Glen Morgan. The flashback scenes are so silly and over the top one can't help, but be amused. The last flashback with Billy had me cracking up. Maybe that was the intention?
The final act is so over the top I refuse to believe that Glen Morgan was making a serious movie. I think some of the problems were after Willard flopped Glen Morgan had trouble getting another job. On the DVD he clearly shows no passion for the project and says this isn't the type of movie he wanted to make. He's doing what the audience wants. Big mistake, as a filmmaker you have to do what you think is best. Of course you keep the audience in mind, but at the end of the day you have to make the movie you want. If you give in and make a movie you have no passion for it very much shows. I'm sure the Weinstein's played a part as well so I won't put all the blame on Glen Morgan. The Weinstein's are known for interfering with the movies they are involved in and I'm sure they played a part in the outcome.
The kills scenes are pretty much the same, when someone is stabbed it's done with such rage, but instead of being scary or disturbing it's rather funny. When Billy stabs someone he does it so fast that odds are you'll be laughing rather than be freaked out. And when did Billy become a cannibal? I wasn't grossed out nor was I disturbed at that. I found it so silly that I couldn't help, but laugh.
The cast is your typical cast you'll find in a lot of the more mainstream movies these days. With that said though the cast does do a good job and even though I prefer unknowns or cult actors in horror movies I was pleased with the cast. The one thing Black Christmas has going for it over other horror movies is the women are beautiful. Easily this is one the best looking casts I have ever seen in a horror flick.
Just take the movie for what it is. What I found was a decent 80s style slasher movie that has the so bad its good quality. By no means is Black Christmas a good movie; several times I rolled my eyes, but I have to admit I was very entertained. As a remake this movie is no doubt a travesty of a remake, but as it's own film, while still bad, but works on the so bad its good level. I'll be the first to admit I had fun watching this and really enjoyed it.
The original is by far the better movie and I highly recommend it, but again the remake is a fun film in how bad it is. Just try and put the original out of your head and take this for what it is; a silly slasher flick.
- A group of girls are staying in their sorority house for X-mas. Later, they start disappearing one at a time. After realizing something is wrong, they then come to believe they are being stalked by the killer who once lived in the house.
These days I give mostly all remakes a chance. I don't come into them with intentions to compare it to the original and torch it. I was willing to give this a fair chance. Even if this remake didn't carry the name of the original. It's still a very bad horror movie to me and one of the worst as well.
Black X-Mas does a horrendous job using the atmosphere and mood to instill fear on the most basic level. Cheap scares are present of course and come off more annoying than anything else. There is very little reason to care for any of the characters. And what's a horror movie these days without background via flashbacks on the killer? The gore is the biggest attraction but it comes off so cheesy at times. And I'm not sure but it seems ever since Hostel. Writers are just obsessed with the eyeball. I just don't get it.
I can give very detailed reasons to express my dislike for this movie. But that will require very big spoilers. Something I'm not big on at all. I recommend this to those who love bad horror movies, gore, and just find fun in practically everything. Anyone who despises remakes right off the back, shouldn't even waste their time or money.
- What is with this recent need to create back-stories for psychopaths? Am I supposed to be stirred by the poor-pitiful-me exposition? I wasted 90 minutes watching this drivel and don't want to spend much more time even thinking about it, but here's the scoop:
* the killings are ridiculous and implausible (the icicle impalement and death by thrown ice skates in particular are howl-worthy and, let's see...IMPOSSIBLE)
* characters are lame and of course act in typical "bad horror film" fashion (although when one loses an eye, the natural response SURELY MUST BE to want to eat all the eyes of your victims) ??!!!??
* and are we actually supposed to believe that the killers are body bagged and taken to the morgue with no one ever noticing that THEY'RE NOT REALLY DEAD?!
Sometimes bad horror can be good -- alas, this is merely bad horror. Period.
Shame on Andrea Martin and Bob Clark for having anything to do with this pathetic mess.

2 comments about Warner Brothers Holiday Collection, Vol. 2.
- Of the four films in this collection, only "Blossoms in the Dust" will not be available as a single DVD. The following is the press release.
All Mine To Give (1957)
A touching drama, All Mine To Give tells the sad story of six pioneer children who struggle to stay together on Christmas Day following the deaths of their parents. It stars Patty McCormack and Glynnis Johns along with Ellen Corby. This is perhaps one of the saddest movies I've ever seen, and I can remember the first time I saw it 40 years ago when I was 10.
Holiday Affair (1949)
This classic Christmas romantic comedy stars Janet Leigh as a poor young widow torn between a boring successful businessman and a romantic ne'er-do-well. Robert Mitchum and Wendell Corey co-star. I'm sure you can figure out which actor plays which man. This movie is very mature and realistic. Nobody is all bad or all good in this film.
It Happened on 5th Avenue (1947)
This screwball comedy is about a hobo and friends who move into a mansion while the owners are out of town for their Christmas holiday. The film was directed by Roy Del Ruth and stars Don DeFore and Ann Harding.
Blossoms in the Dust (1941)
Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon star in this true story of Edna Gladney, a woman who devoted her life to finding homes for unwanted infants. Felix Bressart co-stars. Directed by Mervyn LeRoy. This film is good, but doesn't tell anywhere close to the true story of Edna Gladney. She didn't need all of the family melodrama portrayed in the film to motivate her, and she was a real force in the care of children in Fort Worth,Tx. throughout her life.
- Don't get me wrong; I love this movie! But to include this in a holiday collection is absurd. The only holiday reference in the movie is when Greer and Walter's kid gets killed on Christmas day. Somebody at Warner Bros. has a sick sense of humor....or is just plain stupid!

5 comments about Disney Princess - A Christmas of Enchantment.
- This DVD rehashes old Disney cartoons into a "Christmas" theme--I say "Christmas," beacuse a couple of the cartoons have little to do with Christmas. Additionally, the new animation that was created for this DVD is as bad as I've ever seen. If you like rehashed older cartoons that you can get on better DVD sets and crappy animation that makes the princesses look robotic, go ahead and waste your money on this one. Otherwise, skip it.
SHAME ON YOU DISNEY--THIS DVD IS NOTHING BUT A CHEAP AND SHODDY ATTEMPT TO GET A FEW DOLLARS!
IF I COULD, I'D GIVE THIS DVD A RATING OF "0"
- I actually was a little bummed with the animation in this, but the songs are great, and my four year old watched it well into July then I finally had to "lose" it for awhile because I couldn't handle hearing anymore Christmas songs when it was over onr hundred degrees outside!
I have a 2 year old & 4 year old who love it more than anything!
- I ordered this product in early (very early) December -- it is now, the 2nd week of January & I still haven't received my item. This was to be a gift for my niece but I haven't received it yet. Amazon provided no reason for the delay, just that it was not being sent yet. Not a good reason.
- I watched... I TRIED to watch this dreadful movie. It is clear how much Disney spent on this awful movie.
Basically they use old cartoons, pre-made stuff and even clips from the original movies.
The newly animated parts are laughable, the princes move as much as a stone statue and the princesses mouths don't even match the voice-work.
The absolute worst was "12 Days of Christmas", the princesses sing about what they are getting. Jasmine sings she is going to get an emerald ring or something.
They just us a scene from Aladdin where she and Aladdin ride on the carpet and have only put an emerald ring in the upper right of the screen - how creative!
The cover is better than the whole movie combined, I hope Disney are ashamed of themselves after this.
- I purchased Disney Princess-A Christmas of Enchantment for my granddaughter age 4. She loved it and we watched well into July! My second granddaughter age 3 is expecting a baby brother next month and has requested Grammy bring the DVD to Seattle for her to watch after her brother is born. Grammy purchased a second DVD for her to keep at her house.
Grammy like this particular DVD because it is old cartoons she watched when she was very young! Everyone is a winner!!
