5 comments about Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
  1. Highly enjoyable for parents and kids. Amazing to think this is twenty years old. Fantastic filmaking!

  2. This movie is a cartoon bonanza mixed with live action. A ridiculous and roller coaster spoof of the 1940's film noir genre. Cleverly written and executed in so many ways. This a movie the whole family can enjoy.
There are many toons (cartoons) here borrowed from the likes of Disney, Looney Toons etc. You have the typical plot with bad guys the weasels and the good guys Eddie Valiant and Roger. Of course, along with the action you get understated adult humor that children will not get until older. Aside from a few sight gags, the most notable example is the extremely sexy and curvy Jessica Rabbit who says, "I'm not bad, I'm only drawn that way". Shades of Lauren Bacall and Veronica Lake. This why this movie will appeal to everyone. Even to those who they try to frame in real life.
The action and energy here keeps you interested throughout. And the cliff-hanging situation of Jessica and Roger will have you biting your nails. I won't give away the plot. But that is not the main thing. It is the world they have created here and certainly the unforgettable characters.
It is more than a good time. It's one of the reasons we watch movies in the first place. Much fun and recommended.

  3. I am a huge fan of Roger Rabbit! It was great ordering products from this company. Not only did I get it in one piece but it still had all the origional stuff inside. I will definately order from this company again.. Thank you!!!

  4. The quality of the film itself isn't in debate; this DVD is a very nice set for any fan. The special features are great, it comes with some nice touches like nice packaging and design. You can tell they put a lot of effort into it. It's not cheap or a cop-out in any way. I bought it for my boyfriend as a present and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for this movie.

  5. This is a very inventive, technically brilliant cartoon. It has a lot of incredibly funny scenes and a great many superb comic in jokes.

For the time this was made, the special effects are stunning. This is a great piece of entertainment.

5 comments about Gone in 60 Seconds (2000).
  1. This movie is great just to see the cars and the chase. I won't even compair this movie to the original because there is no compairison.

  2. Gone in 60 Seconds
Usually I am not the type of guy that loves car movies, but I love this movie. The car action is good for the most part. The scenes that are meant to garner emotion do it well. The music on this movie is perfectly done. This movie was just brilliantly put together.

Kip Raines and his crew go on a boost (high profile car theft) for 50 cars and fail miserably. Kip's old brother, Memphis Raines, is contacted about Kip's failure. Memphis soon learns that they are going to kill Kip if Memphis can't get the cars in 3 days. So on the first day he assembles a small crew of men, and a woman, to help him steal 50 cars. On the second day they find out where all the cars are. On the third and final night they are going to steal all 50 cars. You are on the edge of your seat all the time. Memphis is unsure if they are even going to make it. That is different then most movies where they are trying to be positive.

The entire time this is going on, there is a timer that keeps appearing at the bottom of the screen. It is a count down until they are out of time. Kip is played to perfection with a combination of being scared, but still wanting to help. There are so many different stories going on in this movie, and it works very well. You see why Memphis left his brother, which is really tear jerking.

One gripe I have with the entire movie is a ridiculous jump sequence. The entire movie looks fairly realistic, but near the end of the movie they added an extremely fake looking jump sequence. All the events leading up to that moment are great, but the jump is just too fake. That is the only thing that knocks this down to four stars.

  3. It was a few years after watching the remake of Gone in 60 Seconds before I learned that it was even a remake at all. Watching the original was pretty cool because they had similar scenes. What was even better though was the chase scene with Eleanor, a Mustang Mach I, and it lasted waaaay longer than the one with Nic Cage. If you love cars, then you have to have this movie

  4. Yes, this movie went out of my memory 60 seconds after I watched it. There are nothing interesting in the plot, acting and car scenes.

  5. The DVD's I ordered have been great. And you cannot beat the price. Thanks.

5 comments about John Denver - Montana Christmas Skies.
  1. Overall an excellent video. The only thing that keeps it from being a 5 in my book is the interuption of some songs with talk that is not related to the song -- the most glaring occurs during the song "Wild Montana Skies" when after 2 verses it is interupted for a cowboy poem (about a cowboy's bad luck when it comes to marriage) when the song resumes it is for the ending chorus.

If you love John Denver then this DVD is a must have.

  2. I am thankful that John Denver was a contemporary of mine. He has inspired and motivated me during most of my adult life. Only John Denver could have given us Montana Christmas Skies. I cherish its beauty, its warmth, and its message. John Denver's music is a Christmas staple at our house, and this DVD, along with John Denver's legacy, will continue to touch my heart and spirit in the years to come. I recommend John Denver's music in general, and Montana Christmas Skies in particular, as nourishment for the soul.

  3. I found this DVD in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart. Not being a particular John Denver fan (I like some of his stuff, but for the most part I can take it or leave it) I decided to take a chance.

I was very pleasantly surprised. JD, Clint Black, Kathy Mattea, and Patty Loveless jammin' in the barn is the best! Personal highlights for me are Clint Black's "Till Santa's Gone", Kathy Mattea's "Christ Child Lullaby", and Patty Loveless & Kathy Mattea do a great duet of "Someday Soon".

There are other highlights too like the JD classic "Grandma's Feather Bed", John singing "Rudolph" and "Away In A Manger" with a group of kids, and the bittersweet emotions evoked by John singing "I want to Live". Although I'm not a number one fan, the world is a much sadder place without him.

If you're thinking twice about purchasing this video, think no more. It's a wise purchase that you'll enjoy for years to come. I know I have.

  4. This is a wonderful John Denver live concert. Enjoy this one along with John Denver's Wildlife Concert. This one mixes in some nice holiday music. Good sound and video quality on the VHS tape. Some of the songs are:

    1. Away In A Manger
    2. Someday Soon
    3. Grandma's Feather Bed
    4. Jingle Bells
    5. Feelings Of Love
    6. Wild Montana Skies
    7. Eagles And Horses
    8. Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer
    9. A Change In The Air
    10. I Want To Live

    (Amazon Marketplace)

  5. John Denver loved Christmas! And it really shows on this DVD. I have a tradition of watching this every year, and I never tire of it. The songs are beautiful, the scenery gorgeous, and it's fun seeing John singing along with some wonderful country singers in a barn. The barn atmosphere brings a real intimacy to the entire experience. Some highlights for me are "Christmas for Cowboys", "Someday Soon", " A Change in the Air", and the Scottish lullaby that Kathy Mattea sings, while rocking a tiny infant. That song never fails to bring a tear to my eye!
If you love John Denver, or even if you don't, I highly recommend this Christmas DVD. I think it will become a family tradition to watch it every year in your home too!

5 comments about Claymation Christmas.
  1. I am so glad to have a copy of Claymation Christmas. Why the networks don't show this at Christmastime anymore is beyond me. It is so well done, and delightful each time we watch it. Would like to see more videos from Will Vinton's Studio!

  2. This is a must have for anyone with kids, or who is still a kid at heart. The claymation technique is unique and versatile, the music is wonderful (the camels are my favorite), and the joyous feel to the pieces make it well worth your 24 minutes.

"Joy to the World", done soul style, is a truly amazing piece -- it's hard to believe THAT was done with clay.

If you love animation, if you love rampant silliness, if you love the spirit of the holidays, this is one you should have in your collection. It's finally been released to DVD, and I grabbed it, plus a copy for my sister -- the DVD also contains claymation specials on Easter and Halloween, but this one is by far the best segment. Pour some eggnog, grab some gingerbread, and enjoy!

  3. This is the classic Claymation Christmas. Unfortunately, the manufacturer used the cheaper mode of duplication...EP Mode. For the viewer, that means tracking problems and poor picture and audio quality.

Recommended--This has been newly reissued in VHS and DVD. In addition to Claymation Christmas, both include the other Claymation holiday specials, Comedy of Horrors (Halloween) and Claymation Easter. And the VHS version is now released in the best video quality SP Mode.

  4. This is by far one of the most memorable Christmas movies yet. I have watched this every year since it came out and still laugh. This is the type of movie that someone doesn't forget, like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman. The Camels are great, as are the Crazy Bells. Definitely a movie to add to the collection. Can't wait until it gets put on DVD. As for the person that reviewed this, they definitely don't have an imagination nor a sense of humor.

  5. This has been my favorite Christmas Special since the night my sister and I watched it for the first time as kids. None of the other specials out there have the this type of creativity or the unique take on holiday classics.
"Joy" is one of the most visually beautiful, touching versions I've ever seen or heard, I'm moved by it every time and find myself singing the song in the car around the holidays.
The Camels and the Bells will have your stomach hurting, from laughing too hard! My daughter fell for this special like a ton of bricks, and we've been watching it every night since she got it in the mail. I'm still not tired of it, that's how good it is.

3 comments about Holiday Workout.
  1. This video has a great balance of aerobic/ weight intervals and simple/challenging steps. It's a great beginning to intermediate workout. I love the music and holiday set.

  2. This is a 30 minute workout led by Joanie Greggains, who is best known for her "Morning Stretch" TV show. The workout takes place on a set which looks like a living room including a fully decorated Christmas Tree with presents around it and a fireplace.

There are several sequences, each done to a different holiday song. You will alternate simple aerobic routines, with upper body exercises using light weights with simple aerobic moves.

First you will warm up to Winter Wonderland, the warmup is basic, step taps and lunging side to side with assorted arm movements, there is no stretch though.

The first section is titled Basic Moves Intensity 1, the song is Sleigh Ride. It is all simple aerobics, step touches and hamstring curls along with simple arm movements.

The second section is weight work performed to Jingle Bells. Light weights are used, 1-3 or maybe 5lbs for more advanced are recommended, of course the routine could be done without weights. Bicep curls, traditional and alternating, tricep extensions, chest presses, shoulder crosses, pec squeezes and upright rows are some of the exercises you will see. These are all done with step touches, you don't stand in place at all. Kind of resembles the "4 limb aerobics" often seen in the Firm videos.

The next section is called Combination Moves Intensity 2, more aerobics with Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. You will see more step touches and marches with claps. This section uses much more space as Joanie will have you moving from one side of the room to the other and also going diagonal. Again simple aerobics moves with assorted arm movements.

Another weight segment follows, this time to Joy to The World. More simple aerobics with upper body exercises, step touches, marching, walking side to side (which Joanie calls "The Downtown Walk"). You will also see more bicep curls, tricep extensions, pec squeezes, lat pulls, upright rows, shoulder crosses and alternating shoulder presses.

The next segment is Combination Moves Intensity 3 performed to White Christmas. The aerobic section is mainly high impact, but Joanie says to keep it low if you prefer. You will see jogging, scissors (Joanie calls this Cross Country Skiing), twists, kicks, a hip twisting move Joanie calls Turkey Hips, all done with assorted arm movements.

The final weight sequence follows, 12 Days of Christmas is the song choice. More step touches with bicep curls, traditional and alternating, upright rows, shoulder shrugs, tricep extensions, chest presses and lat pulls.

You will go into the Transitional Phase, which are simple aerobics to bring the heartrate down. Silver Bells is the song playing here, very simple segment, more step touches and simple arms. Finally you will cooldown to We Wish You A Merry Christmas where Joanie leads you through a stretch.

This workout would be best for beginner/intermediate levels, I would recommend watching it once before doing it as there really isn't much cuing at all, you just do the moves as they happen. The choreography is very simple and easy to follow. Joanie has a fun personality and looks like she is having a good time. She has her funny comments and will even sing along once in a while. This would be a good workout to do on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Morning when you are not up to anything strenuous but still want some physical activity. Or anytime during the busy holiday season.

  3. This video is a 30-minutes workout led by the classic, Joanie Greggains. Her humor is cheesy, her direction is scatterbrained, and her choreography is downright boring. Which is why you have to love this video! It's more like having your friend in your living room working out with you!

The workout starts with a brief warm-up and then alternates aerobics, with aerobics with light (1-3lbs) hand weights in 3-5 minutes segments. Then she cools you down. The end of the tape has a host of helpful hints for those new to working out.

The reason this tape appeals to me is that it's filled with a Christmas background and has "dance" mixes of songs of the season. The premise is that you do this workout between Thanksgiving and Christmas, in addition to what you would normally do, and you won't gain any holiday weight. Works for me! I will be keeping this video.

PRICE; $2 at the Goodwill; Amazon has some used for $3.75
    YEAR: 1995 (Amazon says (2000)
    FITNESS LEVEL:Beginner to intermediate
    CHOREOGRAPHY LEVEL: Beginner
    RATING: 4 stars
    EQUIPMENT: light hand weights
