  1. I saw this picture over 20 years ago when my children were from 2-6 years old. Since the first time we saw it, it became a tradition in my home every Three King Days to see the movie. All the family sit and enjoy it.
Since I have internet I have been searching for it without success.
I will buy it for my 6 y/o grandson who lives in Houston Tx.
I hope it will help him to learn about our traditional "Día de Reyes" [Three King Days].
I strongly recommend every latin american that celebrate this festivity to buy this DVD.

5 comments about Animaniacs: Helloooo Holidays.
  1. This video is great! It has lots of Animaniacs episodes about winter. Besides a little belching, it has a few good lessons, takeoffs, and jokes. The Animaniacs are just as zany as ever! If you like Animaniacs, you'll love this video. You'll probably also like other Animaniacs tapes(see Customers Who Bougth This Also Bought:). :-)

  2. Every year, my family gathers 'round the TV and laughs as we watch "Twas the Day Before Christmas", which we can all recite by heart. The rest of the tape is excellent as well no matter how many times you watch it, it just gets better. I recomend it to anyone who likes to laugh.

  3. This particular Videos is amazingly funny for adults and the kids. It's got Holiday flavor, music and more. It is fun and energetic and clever. Clever anuimation and color schemes for the Holiday Season.

You'll hum at the tunes and laugh at the two brothers and one sister Yakko, Wakko and Dot.

Twas The Night Before Christmas: An interesting telling of a Classics. Funny and witty.

Yakko's Universe: This is a Christmas rehash of the famed explination by the Warner kids of how the universe works.

Little Drummer Warner: An upbeat and traditional telling of the special gift for a special child.

A Gift Of Gold: A real sweet story of the short lived lif of wrapping paper.

A Christmas Plotz: A great twist of Dickens A Christams Carol. And fun too!

The Great Wakkorotti: Okay this is my least favorite. Why its a little much, cute, but I'm sure the kids will love the belching Musical.

I watch this abong 30 others every Holiday Season. Watch it! Buy it! (11-30-03)

  4. Why aren't these cartoons on DVD yet? If you too love the Animaniacs, go here to help us get them put out on DVD... www.petitiononline.com/toon0001/petition.html

  5. Just sat back and watched this tape with the family last night for the first time in a few years. Boy this is some funny stuff. Wakko, Yakko, and Dot are Warner Bros. crazies in the best tradition of Warner's golden age of the 30's and 40's. This 45 minute or so tape features 6 holiday shorts featuring the Animaniacs, Wacky Squirrel and Pinky and the Brain.

Thier take on an upbeat and swinging "Little Drummer Boy" is a joy. The Great Wakkorotti (read Pavarotti) Belches "jingle Bells" and is sure do delight the kids.

There's a nice take on Scrooge as the Animaniacs save Ralph the Security guard's job at the Warner Brothers lot from mean old studio Head Mr. Plotz...

All very good and fun stuff. Good animation and songs.

1 comments about Handel - Messiah / Brown, Kallisch, Sacca, Miles, Rilling, Bach-Collegium Stuttgart.
  1. This DVD is actually titled, correctly, 'Der Messias,' as this is a performance sung in German of Mozart's 1789 arrangement of the work. Between 1788 and 1790, Mozart's sometime patron Baron van Swieten contributed to Mozart's welfare by having him arrange for private performance several works by Handel, including Acis and Galatea (K566, November 1788), Messiah (K572, March 1789) and Alexander's Feast and the Ode for St Cecilia's Day (K591 and 592, both July 1790). For 'Messiah' Mozart added winds and percussion and composed new inner voices in places, enough that this work has its own designation, as noted above, in the Köchel catalog. I am old enough to have heard this arrangement in live performance but in the last thirty years there have been very few performances of it as the tide of musical taste has dictated a return to Handel's original orchestration and arrangement of the numbers (although, as many people know, there are questions even yet as to what should be considered Handel's final thoughts about some of the individual numbers; at least one number in the oratorio had seven different arrangements from Handel's own hand!). Still, if one wants to see and hear Mozart's arrangement one would certainly need go no further than this DVD. Helmut Rilling and his Bach-Collegium and Kantorei of Stuttgart are old hands at this sort of music. The Bach-Collegium is a modern-instrument group who nonetheless play using some of the historically-informed performance practice from the baroque and classical eras. The Kantorei, a forty-voice group that has recorded all of the Bach cantatas, is well-versed in baroque vocal music. The four soloists--the Canadian soprano Donna Brown, German mezzo Cornelia Kallisch, Italian tenor Roberto Saccà, and British basso Alastair Miles--acquit themselves admirably. I was particularly impressed with young Signor Saccà whose light tenor falls sweetly on the ear.

One more versed than I could tell you the differences between this version of 'Messiah' and the one we generally hear. The most noticeable, of course, is the use of a German text. 'Messiah' was set to King James Version biblical verses chosen and arranged by Charles Jennens, and it is in English that most people reading this review will know the work. It is a bit unsettling to hear 'Every valley' as 'Alle Tale,' and 'Glory to God in the Highest!' as 'Ehre sei Gott in der Höhe!,' for example. It also seems strange to hear the male chorus's 'And peace on Earth' intoned to martial timpani or to hear clarinets tootling countermelodies. One other oddity that I noticed is that 'For unto us' ('Uns ist zum Heil ein Kind geboren') is arranged as a solo vocal quartet rather than sung by the whole chorus who come in only at the end at 'Wonderful, Counselor.'

Although it is not stated anywhere in the DVD's booklet or case, I discovered by going to ArtHaus's website that this is a performance from 1991. It was filmed in the small baroque Stadtkirche in the Palatinate city of Ellwangen. Sound is reasonably good, videography is a bit frenetic at times, sometimes cutting away from soloists for no obvious reason. This is not really objectionable but it does get one's attention. Also, opening and closing credits are scrolled for each of the oratorio's three parts; one suspects this DVD was put together from three separate TV presentations, one for each part.

The bottom line on this release is this: If you are interested in hearing Mozart's arrangement of 'Messiah,' or if you are a big fan of Rilling's performances of baroque music, then this one might be for you. Otherwise, be warned and read the fine print: This is not the usual 'Messiah.'

    TT=136min.

    Scott Morrison

5 comments about Frosty Returns.
  1. I just watched this sad excuse for a cartoon for the first time after viewing the original classic Frosty the Snowman. All I could think was is this country in trouble. Simply put the movie was worse than anything I could have ever imagined. It is an insult to the original cartoon. This is the result you get when left wing communist atheists attempt to destroy our American culture and traditions. How often do you hear any commercials on television or radio mention Christmas anymore? The term Christmas is practically banned from the public airwaves. I say boycott any business that refuses to use the term Christmas in their advertising. Thank god there are some of us old enough to remember what this country and it's traditions use to be like. It was at one time the greatest country in the world, currently being destroyed by the communist enemy within. I fear for the future of this Country. And in closing I must add, who ever heard of a winter carnival? I can say with confidence that this cartoon caused Jimmy Durante to turn over in his grave. An absolute disgrace.

  2. Narration is OK but the story is weak and the songs are brilliantly unremarkable. I cringed when I watched this with my son. I admit I grew up with the original show with Jimmy Durante narrating and the title song a well written classic, rather than a lame paean to 1990's PC themes. This is probably inevitable in that you unfortunately can't re-make something from that era with the same innocence and feel: not in an era where Christmas has become lifeless. Oops! I said Christmas, I meant Happy Holidays!

  3. I wish I had never seen this. I didn't realize it wasn't a follow up to the original Frosty. It's a shame it was done by the same person who gave us the charming Peanuts classics.

  4. I was disappointed when I saw how it had nothing to do with the lovable Original classic. I thought maybe its my maturity setting in - but my 3 and 2 year old basically gave this a bad review - they walked off after a few minutes into the story - too uninterested. I think the target audience is wrong in this one. The makers are trying way too hard to incorporate political issues at a time when all kids just want to see kid stuff!

  5. Okay. Sat down to watch this for the first time with my son figuring that it would be good ole' Frosty with a new storyline. Wrong. We got about 5 minutes into it and I realized that someone had hi-jacked a kids character and storyline and replaced it with greeny, pagan propaganda. First, one of the little boys says "Let's go outside and make a fertility goddess". I'm like.....what the.....what the ....what is this doing in a kids Christmas time animated classic? Then the fact that Frosty doesn't need his magic hat anymore. Then the obvious corporate knocking message about a snow eliminating spray. That was it. Turned it off and instead put in the original Rankin-Bass classic. This one is going to get hung in the window as a sun catcher, that is all it is good for.
