- This is a good selection of hits. Don't expect superior image quality as this was recorded in 1995. I played in on my 1080i Sony with a good DVD. But the sound quality and songs are excellent and will outweigh the image quality. A must have for any Engelbert fan.
- This one is one of my favorites! I love Engelbert's humor and how comfortable he is on stage. Once again Engelbert performs with ease with the many different styles of music to include, Spanish, rock & roll & Engelbert's classics. I never get tired of hearing "Release Me", I loved it when I was a child and I love & appreciate it as an adult.
- Get a look at this magnificient performer. So much carisma , talent, and a voice to compare to no other. He is always at the top of performance. Always is singing to perfection. Never off, and can touch your heart like no other singer in this century. Surely he is a gift from God.
- How can you NOT give this 5 stars!! He never sings a bad song! He is just as graceful with his songs as ever and even tho time is going by he can still sing better than anyone out there today!! He deserves much more recognition than he receives for his talent and he should be knightd by the Queen!! His personal life is nothing to what he has given to millions of fans and people around the globe for over 40 years! Thats what you call Gods creations!! Perfection in a voice!!
- This DVD was and is pure magic. Englebert is in good form and excellent voice. I was mesmerized by his presence on camera. I loved the way he looked and how he carries himself. I was elated with the selection of the songs and with Michaelina who sang Malaguena and in a duet of Ave Maria at the very end encore presentation. I fell in love with the whole production and I am getting this DVD for my sister for Christmas and watch her fall in love.

- I liked certain parts of this video a LOT! It was quite sexy! Basically this movie centers around two women: one, aspiring to make it in the business world, where she gets passed over for a big promotion because she's a woman; and the other, a gorgeous stripper at a gentlemen's club. When the two accidentally meet up at an auto garage after years apart, the stripper suggests to her equally beautiful business-executive friend that she come down to her club and check it out. The businesswoman does exactly that, and even gets an unrequested erotic table-dance from her stripper friend! The businesswoman decides to give it a try as a stripper, and soon she's the hottest girl at the club. That doesn't settle very well with her blonde friend, who, nevertheless makes money on-the-side doing girl-girl performances with another pretty blonde who works at the club. A LOT of eroticism in this flick! I applaud the writer/producer/director for a great effort!

- I really threw good money away on this one!I am such a sucker for all Christmas movies, but my goodness it was torture sitting thru this.I kept thinking it has to get better, but alas it never did.....
- I was looking forward to this movie, as I am a fan of Christmas movies. As there are two versions on this DVD, I opted to watch the B&W first. The movie was heartwarming and charming, but there were obvious parts that the editing seemed somewhat off. Since this movie is in the public domain, I watched the original version at archive.org. What a difference!!! I'm sorry that Legend Films decided to edit this the way they did. They actually cut out 5 minutes of the film and added it to the DVD marked as "deleted scenes". How disappointing, since the "deleted scenes" really established some important points and made the ending more plausible. In addition, there is a point in the film where they messed up the editing and actually put a couple of seconds of a scene in twice, thus making one part of the film very confusing. How disappointing! My feeling is if you're going to colorize and otherwise tamper with these films, at least keep the editing in the original order that it was in! What's the point of cutting up a film and presenting it in this manner? Also, the color on this particular film wasn't very well done. It had that "pastel smear" type of effect applied and it was mostly distracting and not very appealing, like in some of their other efforts.
My recommendation would be to purchase another version of this movie. I have several other Legend Film DVDs that have been "colorized" just to see the various techniques used. This is certainly not one of their high points. I am glad they include the B&W with the color version, but tampering with the editing is where I draw the line. Purchase the 84 minute version. The colorization isn't worth it, as this movie plays better in B&W anyway. 4 stars for the movie, 2 stars for the format, average 3 stars.
- George Melton (Harry Carey), Alan Chadwick (Aubrey Smith), and Michael O'Brien (Charles Winninger) are rich lonely owners of an engineering firm invite two young strangers named James Houston (Richard Carlson), and Jean Lawrence (Jean Parker) to spend the Christmas eve with them and enjoy a luxurious meal at their Manhattan home. James is a singer from Texas falls in love with Jean instantly. The two date under the watchful eye of three gentlemen and also their housekeepers, Madame Tanya (Maria Ouspenskaya) and the butler Josef (Alex Melesh).
During a business trip, when the tragedy strikes for the three gentlemen, they perish in a plane crash but they return home to "manage affairs" as ghosts. In the meanwhile, Jim is discovered as a singing sensation and is being seduced by the married actress Arlene Terry (Helen Vinson). Jean is increasingly left alone while Jim pursues his career. The ghosts fail to save the day but the jealous husband finishes the job by shooting his wife and James. The movie has an interesting Christmas tone when the three rich men offer to entertain two ordinary people in their palatial home. There is lot of love, romance, comedy and tragedy, and still proves to be a wonderful Christmas classic: Highly recommended.
- I am afraid I was very disappointed in the movie. The content was not what was described, and the picture quality was poor. It was not objectionable, however, not a great Christmas movie for me.
- This film only holds up as a relic of a very much ago.
I saw this film in the early day of TV. It still put
a lump in my throat mainly because of rememberance
of a childhood viewing. Shmaltz yes from a very simple time.

- Beware of Marketplace Sellers who gouge on prices for this item, it is available at Target every holiday season for 25 to 50 cents.
- This DVD has some really old cartoons. It contains a total of 9 cartoons. They are: Christmas Comes but Once a Year, Hector's Hectic Life, Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, A Christmas Dream, Winter Draws On, Somewhere In Dreamland, Snow Foolin', Christmas Visit, and O Come, All Ye Faithful. I found my copy at the The One Spot section at my local Target store for $1 and I am sure it's half that after the holidays. It's good as a stocking stuffer.

5 comments about John Denver and the Muppets - Rocky Mountain Holiday.
- I've loved this movie since I was a little kid and was thrilled to get it on DVD, since our old taped copy wasn't in the greatest condition and was missing some portions. The special effects aren't that amazing--Fozzie is attacked, at one point, by "wasps" that look like drawn-on yellow blobs, and some of the backgrounds look pretty disconnected from the action--but some of the little details are fantastic! The trees, the lake, and Robin's movement are examples of the implementation of impressive forethought.
Rocky Mountain Holiday is not nearly as cheesy as the John Denver & the Muppets Christmas movie, and there's so much to love about it. Highlights include a Ford truck, a giant maneating chicken, a disgustingly pink Jeep for Miss Piggy to ride in, hilarious jokes, a cozy campfire scene, lovely scenery, enjoyable songs (some of them John's, others not), and the opportunity to see the familiar Muppet characters in flannel and down. John is completely natural with the Muppets--he doesn't seem to be one of those people who's uncomfortable around puppets.
I am kind of disappointed that the scene where John took Rowlf up in a plane to cure his hiccups was removed. Still, it wasn't my favorite part of the movie, and we still have our old copy, so I guess it's not that big a deal to me. Plus, after watching that bit again, I guess I can see why it was taken out. Rowlf mentions "Amelia Airedale," and his fear of flying just isn't as funny given the way John died.
The DVD presentation is simple but effective. This movie is a good buy for the whole family--snatch it up while you can!
- We really enjoyed watching John Denver & the Muppets, it made us feel we were in Colorado with them. It's worth watching just to see John sing Durango Mountain Caballero by the campfire, which we think is one of his greatest songs he ever did. There was all sorts of fun with the muppet gang, plenty of traditional songs & more of John's famous songs. We can definitely recommend this video if you are a John Denver fan.
Paul & Val Gilbert.
- If you saw the episode of the Muppet Show where John Denver was the guest, you know he was trying to get the muppets to go on a camping trip with him, but it was not to be. (Well, at least until some years later.) It is virtually impossible to not see this special as a sequel to that episode. John Denver and the muppets go to the Colorado mountains. Overall, there is a good combination of story and music. John and the muppets begin their walk to the campgrounds; Fozzie has some typical mishaps. (But nothing too dangerous.) Statler and Waldorph are present to provide some heckling. John and Floyd go fishing. There is one sad moment in how John asks Robin to do something he is too short to do. (Setting up the clothes line.) John for a moment gets frustrated, but of course, they reconcile, and Robin is able to tie the clothes line if John can hold him high enough. This is one of the few Muppet gatherings that does not include Miss Piggy. But in her absence, there is a comical flashback of her trying to bring her photographers, flatterers, and hair dressers on a previous camping trip. (If you saw the episode with John Denver, then you will recall she was planning to go camping in a high fashion outfit, and a gold plated backpack.) The story is charming enough, and of course John Denver's songs are in their element with the background of the wilderness. To top of this gathering, there is a climactic (but still hilarious) moment when John tells the story of a man eating chicken who might be roaming the area. Some of the muppets begin to fear that the story is true. This does of course sound silly. And even John (the story teller) tries to explain that it was just a story. But Gonzo finds some evidence that would suggest the story is true. Overall, this is a good story that has comedy, a touch of drama, nice scenery, some of John Denver's great acting and musical skills, and just the right touch of suspense. If you liked the episode of the Muppets with John Denver as the guest star, you will not want to miss this special.
- I love John Denver, I love the Muppets. I was searching for The Christmas show these two did, But you can only get the Cd. I found this and bought it
Its ok, Its cute. But the songs are forgettable except the first one "Hey old Pal" and for those who like her I think Miss Piggy only did a cameo. Way to much of Kermits little nephew
The best suggestion I can give you is, If you have some kids about five or so, Buy it, Watch it with them, so you can visit some old friends like; John Denver and Kermit and Fozzie when they are not at their best but still good to be with.
- I love this DVD.
I have taken a bit of abuse
from the unenlightened
for adding this video to my collection,
being a "grown-up " and all,
but it is great entertainment.
The muppets (!) on a camping trip (!)
in the Rocky Mountains (!)
with John Denver (!).
It doesn't get any better than that.
Lots of beautiful scenery,
gags and great music.
Children will love this,
and for you "grown -ups",
touch base with your inner child
and go to your happy place.
