5 comments about The First Christmas.
- This is a very good Christmas movie for your collection. ABC Family rarely shows it anymore, so if you can get a copy, consider yourself fortunate. The story is a good one for the family. It is typical Rankin-Bass work - classic!
Like many of the Rankin-Bass specials, I am hoping that this show will be made available on DVD.
- The First Christmas Snow is a cute and touching Christmas special from Rankin and Bass and features Angela Lansbury as the voice of a nun who helps take care of a little blind shepherd boy and though this is shown every year on The Fox Family Channel (It was show about two or three times so far this December of 2005) I wish it would be transferred to DVD!
- This is a truly unusual cartoon, by today's standards. It is less concerned with what one may get from Christmas than what one may give. It brings home the true meaning of the holiday, yet is still festive and entertaining.
Take home this classic treasure, and you'll look on giving with a whole new attitude. It will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside!
- I rate this film 5-stars because the animation is spectacular and is an excellent family film to watch, during the Christmas season.
Rankin/Bass Productions made a winner with this delightful Christmas film.
Of course anything with Rankin/Bass on it is almost always a good thing!
A DVD version needs to be released.
- I can't wait to share it with my husband and my children who have never seen it. Husband thought I was hallucinating when I told him about it and couldn't find it online.

5 comments about The Tangerine Bear.
- My 3 year old daughter loves this movie. We borrowed it from a friend (VHS Format) and enjoyed it so much that we purchased the DVD. After placing the order with Amazon, I read a review which indicated problems with the DVD format. I just want to let anyone who is interested know that the DVD which we received works just fine, and we have enjoyed multiple viewings with our daughter. It is a terrific holiday movie.
- I did not hear of this movie when it was released and only bought it because I came across it (on DVD) in a local store for $3.99 and figured I couldn't go wrong at that price, especially with Tom Bosley, David Hyde Pierce and Jonathan Taylor Thomas on board. I was pleasantly surprised. I think it has a nice story line, good characters and nice music (good job with narration and songs, courtesy of Trisha Yearwood). My daughter wanted to watch it over and over and over. We even made Tangerine Bear cut out cookies that year! She loved it so much I went back and bought another copy to add to my niece's Christmas gift. When my niece opened it her mother was astonished, "How did you know she LOVES this movie, we get it from the library all the time!?" (We shared the cookies too!) I bought it for my niece based on my daughter's reaction and it turned out to be a good call. So from a child's stand point it is fabulous, and this mom is fond of it too. Don't expect Disney animation, more like Saturday morning cartoons, but I'd pay full price if I hadn't found such a deal.
- This is a very cute kid's movie, while at the same time being warmly touching and entertaining to any adults who are obliged to watch it. This is a perfect movie for Christmastime. Reminiscent of the old story "Cordouroy" or even a little bit of "The Velveteen Rabbit", it will tug at the heartstrings and make kids from one to ninety-two smile with warmth and emotion.
The story follows an adorable little bear at Christmas time who, after not going home with a lucky child, ends up on a discount rack in the big toy store, and then finds himself in a lonely thrift shop in New York city with a few other toys looking for homes. The sun fades him to a unique tangerine color, hence the name "Tangerine Bear". He ends up becoming lost in the big city during a snowstorm, followed up of course by the requisite happy ending where he finally finds a home, sure to please your kids during Christmas, as the storyline is that of a Christmas movie.
Much better than you'd expect for the price. I was actually expecting it to be the price of a regular kid's DVD considering that the quality is on par of or exceeding that of most other movies in this genre. I received this movie as a gift for my little girl a few years back, lost it, and just recently ordered the DVD version so she can watch it for Christmas. As a lover of kid's movies, this is definitely a worthwhile addition to any animated collection.
- A most wonderful movie. It is a tradition in our family. A touching and moving story of a little bear looking for a home and not realizing that he already has the perfect home. It brings me to tears and joy.
- the movie came fast couldn't ask to be any faster. i watched this as a child and i couldn't wait to see it again i wasn't disappointed . it a great movie for young kids to watch without any parents concerns. these days that hard to find. it a wonderful movie your kids will love it ..

- Picked up this DVD by accident - just wanted some Christmas music and got pure heaven. Domingo shone but Kaas and Fernandez were unbelievable. The blending of Kaas and Fernandez on Here is Christmas transports you to new emotional heights and Alejandro's rendition of A Little Drummer Boy showcases a wonderful voice. It is the Christmas CD or DVD to own and share with ALL your friends and neighbors. I couldn't wait to find out more about Fernandez and Kaas and hope they do something together again. Spectacular album and video
- Unfortunatly someone only got half of this concert for me and put it away for 2 year, eventually it was put on my mouth fell open as i first clapped eyes on alejandro, it was march my neighbours must of thought id gone mad i am used to bing crosby singing white christmas but my GOODness me i nearly hit the floor when i saw the snow scene so beautiful along with his voice and his face it was simply heavenly the fact that he made a mistake only made him more endearing than he already is on the it must be christmas song i was suprised to hear the reggae tempo in the background my toes curled everytime he sings the word carpenter if i was ever lucky enough to see him live i would have to have handcuffs for his safety and the silent night has always been a favourite of mine i'm not a Elvis fan but i think he sounds a little like elvis. i cannot expres what i feel about this gorgious man, he sings like an angel i could only show you by putting this video on and hoping you could feel what i feel!i simply had to send off for it to see the rest. unbelievable but true my video just decided to die the day before i bought it..... help! im in torture! what have i done to derserve this!
- I'm a huge film buff, but if I could only have one video, this would be the one I'd choose. Recorded live in December of 1998, it's what Christmas is all about. There's a peace I feel when I play this. It puts a smile on my face and in my heart.
Plácido Domingo ! Such warmth and goodness flows from this man, and with his magnificent voice and elegance, he's one of the all-time greats. Alejandro Fernández is beyond description. What a gift from God to the world this man is ! The voice, the soul, the beauty, the grace. You have to hear and see this to believe it. The stunning Patricia Kaas, with her sultry unique style, is wonderful, and she has a strong enough presence to hold her own between these two extraordinary men. The children's chorus is exquisite, the orchestra, conducted by Steven Mercurio, is superb, and the editing terrific. There are so many wonderful songs..."Blanca Navidad" ("White Christmas") is a blessing captured on video, and is truly "Un mensaje de amor y de paz". I love "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", "Hay que Sembrar en Navidad" with its beautiful, moving lyrics, and the glorious "Silent Night" finale...and so much more. There aren't enough stars to give this video, or words to recommend it. Just buy it and let it lift your spirit and fill your heart with joy any day of the year.
- I am probably Alejandro Fernández' most fervent "gringo" fan. I own all his CDs and videos, including everything I can find on television, amazon, half, ebay, and download. I get chills everytime I watch this. After all these years, I am always amazed at the pure perfection that floats out of his mouth, and to hear him sing in English is a thrill. I love Plácido Domingo's unrivalled voice, and although I am not particularly fond of Patricia Kaas' style of singing, she shines as well. I start watching this video on December 1st every year since it came out. This year on big screen HDTV it is more incredible than ever. I would watch it year around if my family would allow it. Wow, THIS is Christmas! I thought I would buy a copy for a friend (paid 12.99 for mine) but had no idea that it had become such a collector's item. Now if it was for me, and I had lost mine, price would have been no object. You just can't have too much of a good thing!

- Lights was first brought to my attention by my daughter's second grade hebrew school teacher. Produced approximately twenty years ago, it stars the voice of Jewish actor Leonard Nimoy "Spock" of Star Trek fame and other famous Jewish actors. Our Rabbi's wife wanted this DVD as well as my family and friends.

- A little mystery, a little danger and a lot of excitement make a wonderful story for younger children. These new chacters are very family friendly. The songs included are great. A nice feature to the DVD is that you can access these songs individually should your child want to just sing along to the music. The animator sketching the characters is an interesting Disneyesque feature. We can't wait for the book and the plush characters to be available for purchase.
- I love the Wompkees! Finally, a holiday program I can watch with my three year old where she isn't overstimulated, and I'm not bored to tears. The Wompkees are entertaining for young and old alike. The characters are cute and funny. This is a DVD I won't mind watching over and over. The songs are catchy...not kitschy. My daughter is already hoping to find a plush "Twig" doll under the tree.
- This is an extremely enjoyable film that is perfect for young children and parents to watch together. The color, animation and sound are all excellent and the story is destined to become a classic. The DVD's bonus features include a fun 'behind the scenes' look at a very talented artist drawing the Wompkee characters. The Wompkees should be on everyone's Chistmas list this year!
- My family loves this movie! We first saw it on PBS and fell in love with the sweet green Wompkee creatures. My mom got the DVD for my little brother (who's 6)and he watches is a million times a day. He even makes up new stories for the Wompkees and tells us all about them. Also the songs are really sweet and get stuck in your head. P.S. Don't tell anyone that I watch the mnovie over his shoulder sometimes (I'm 14).
- Although the Wompkee creatures themselves are cute and the overall story is fine, the Ice Queen continually uses the word "hate" throughout her scenes in the movie. Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I don't like hearing that word, particularly with the inflection used in a young children's movie. I don't quite understand why it was necessary.
