  1. A great movie for those who would like to see items from the 40's to remind us of when we were growing up. A wholesome movie for all to see.

  2. I was disappointed in the several reviewers here and at the IMDb site who criticized this cute little movie for being what it is. Talk about Grinches. The movie is only 56 minutes long, clearly a local production made in a small town in the Ozark foothills of Arkansas. To criticize it for lacking the production values of "Miracle on 34th Street" is like comparing your child's dance recital with the Kirov Ballet.

I loved the two little girls who reminded me of my own grand-daughters. They appear only about 4 and 5, an age where they have the attention span of butterflies. They are clearly more little girls than actresses. There is a wonderful blooper sequence that shows the director's difficulties in trying to keep them focused. Very funny.

The elder, Ireland Rose Maddox dearly wants a bike for Christmas. But it is Christmas 1941, just after the attack on Pearl Harbor. And dad's job at a local print shop is too low paying to allow buying a new bike costing over $24. This simple problem forms the plot.

My only real criticism is that the Production Notes on the DVD are unreadable. Too bad. I would have liked to know the background for the story and why and how it was made.

Nonetheless, this is a cute little movie, well worth the price.

  3. This story, with its nostalgia-evoking setting and charming premise, could make a holiday staple, but the level of acting will not allow that. To be sure, there is a valid point in the assertion of the "A for Effort" reviewer, but on the other hand, no amount of allowance for production constraints can gloss over the reality that the actors cannot convince the viewer of anything more than the fact that they are reciting their lines.

It's a nice story and the costumes and sets are commendable, but it can't sincerely deliver its message when the acting leaves the characters devoid of authenticity.

  4. I haven't seen this. I bought for my mom. She wanted it because it was made in Eureka Springs, AR. She said that it was short and sweet. Not awful, but not great!!

  5. I just saw this movie. It is so beatiful. I can watch it over and over again. The children and parents are such wonderful actors. I love the sincerity, simplicity, and love they express.I believe those we have written negative reviews have no clue what it means to expereince the financial hardship they were faced with, and efforts some parents make to give their children truly awesome gifts that are priceless.I will recommend this movie. It is excellent.

  1. this video is a exellent overview of disney's musical talents featuring x-mas, this isn't even the movies and it is dreadful This video is short and not really fufilling in any way I suggest that the full movies should be bought and forget this made up stuff

  2. My four year old has learned a lot from this video. If your child likes Disney characters then this is a must buy. Yes, it
is shorter than a movie. But my son likes me to watch it with him and we sing and dance to each song. I'm glad it's not a 2 hour movie! He sees the words across the screen and is learning new words that way. Xmas is over but we watch it everyday.

  1. I'm in this! Okay, in something that can't even really be called a cameo, but nonetheless...in one of the early scenes the host goes to a 'costume party' where almost no one else dresses up; he starts looking at all the people there and describing them to the audience, "Suit, suit, suit, suit, suit, a couple of dresses, suit, almost a costume, suit, pirate."

And yes, I am the pirate.

I've never been prouder. It was a benefit for the Hong Kong ballet.

And, dammit, if they hadn't been filming the show, I would have won!

Oh, but about the DVD, they explore the seldom seen parts of HK, from some lovely kayaking in the outlying islands, to a fantastic traditional village house; they visit local racconteur Nuri Vittachi and a fascinating and somewhat strange photographer/visual-performance artist identified only as Amy; they go shopping in Mong Kok, one of the most densely crowded places on Earth; they ride along with the marine police on a night patrol to catch smugglers (which they don't actually manage to do), and they meet a kung-fu artist/stuntman. It's loads of fun, and I saw parts of Hong kong that I hadn't seen here in real life having been here 17 years! But it was rather odd that the majority of people they met here were NOT CHINESE. Sure, there are a lot of expats living here, but you'd think that more locals would give you more of a local sense of the place.

And keep an eye out for the pirate. (The Marine Police still haven't brought me in! HAHAHAHAHA!)

  2. I was hoping this would be a good overview of things to see on my trip in Hong Kong. But it didn't really offer much information.

The host is nice enough, but there wasn't much info about things to see, places to go, what to expect, etc...

If you're looking for something to help plan your trip. Save your money. On the other hand, the Frommers guide is quite helpful.

  1. The video consists of the words only scrolling across the screen, the audio has the tunes so badly played that the melody is often hard to recognize. The product review supplied is downright dishonest and I feel cheated. One star is too high a rating, but 0 or (-) were not choices.

  1. From Australia a truly unique musical built around an actor who has the amazing gift, for a middle-aged Aussie male, to sing just like Billie Holiday! The story is structured around this gift and plot wise not much but the musical numbers are well staged and his singing carries the light froth of a tale. It's all in good fun and enjoyable. The R-rating is for 2 expletives that are totally unnecessary. Enjoy the music. It's comparable to LITTLE VOICES.

  2. This is another superb Australian comedy that in my opinion is much better than another great Australian comedy"Strictly Ballroom",but that's just my opinion.Anyway, both movies are highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. It's an excellent film, a classic DVD everybody should have. The only problem is that the DVD menu itself is a little confusing, so you may have a little trouble finding trailers, or specific special features listed in the box. In other words, everything written in the box is in the DVD, but it may take some time until you find it...

  2. Bob took a mime class so you can see the weight of the rabbit. Bob Hoskins is a superb actor!

  3. Highly enjoyable for parents and kids. Amazing to think this is twenty years old. Fantastic filmaking!

  4. This movie is a cartoon bonanza mixed with live action. A ridiculous and roller coaster spoof of the 1940's film noir genre. Cleverly written and executed in so many ways. This a movie the whole family can enjoy.
There are many toons (cartoons) here borrowed from the likes of Disney, Looney Toons etc. You have the typical plot with bad guys the weasels and the good guys Eddie Valiant and Roger. Of course, along with the action you get understated adult humor that children will not get until older. Aside from a few sight gags, the most notable example is the extremely sexy and curvy Jessica Rabbit who says, "I'm not bad, I'm only drawn that way". Shades of Lauren Bacall and Veronica Lake. This why this movie will appeal to everyone. Even to those who they try to frame in real life.
The action and energy here keeps you interested throughout. And the cliff-hanging situation of Jessica and Roger will have you biting your nails. I won't give away the plot. But that is not the main thing. It is the world they have created here and certainly the unforgettable characters.
It is more than a good time. It's one of the reasons we watch movies in the first place. Much fun and recommended.

  5. I am a huge fan of Roger Rabbit! It was great ordering products from this company. Not only did I get it in one piece but it still had all the origional stuff inside. I will definately order from this company again.. Thank you!!!

  1. it my me feel very glad and joyous which is put of the christmas season.

  2. This item came in time for Christmas and my children just loved it. I had been having a hard time finding these shows for them...so I was so happy to get them.

  3. The seller sent it to the wrong address and when it was returned to them they kept my shipping fee and never sent out the product to the correct address. My daughter was expecting this before christmas and was extremeley disappointed. This was by far the worst customer service i have ever received. It was also unethical to keep my shipping fee as well. I would recommend never doing business with this retailer.

  4. I loved most (don't personally care for Frosty Returns - don't consider it one of the classics) of these movies growing up and to get them in 1 pack instead of purchasing all individually is wonderful, considering my husband recently bought the Rudolph one by itself and spent almost $[...] for just the one. My 1 complaint: some of the footage is less sharp than the DVDs you normally purchase, but I would assume there were some restoration issues (and hey - these are from 35+ years ago). Frankly, I think only DVD snobs will be bothered by this (except the footage of Little Drummer Boy is rather dark in some places - yet you can still certainly see everything.) My 2 year old loves them too!

  5. It's a series of classic Christmas cartoons...who needs a review? My kids love it!
