  1. I saw this cartoon the other day on Cartoon Network. I thought it was wonderful! I can see this cartoon becoming the next holiday classic.

  2. I really thought this cartoon had a nice message, especially since we are experiencing problems with our children who think they need more and never seem to be satisfied. I am definetly going to buy the video so we can review it when we are feeling selfish again.

  3. This special was on TV and I watched it, and it was better than I expected! The character (Jeremy) is a selfish spoiled little boy (hmmm remind you of any kids you know today?!) who only thinks about himself and the next toy he can get. Its perfect to watch with any kids who are a little too focused on the gift aspect of christmas, or even if you yourself feel like you just want everything for christmas. Its also narrated by someone famous (Im forget who, maybe Dick Van Dyke...) Its funny and the goes at a fairly fast pace (for kids with short attention spans) I would love it if the Cartoon Network would release this and some other Xmas Specials on DVD.

  4. Wish this came in DVD format but until then I will just keep watching the video each year! Love the narrator, love the rhyme and love the message!

  1. I bought this because Whoppi Goldberg was one of the voices.

It is a cute cartoon & follows the story pretty well. They have added a a few extra things but not to ruin it

  2. Don't listen to any negative reviews about this "yet another" cartoon version of A Christmas Carol. While the animation is just fair and admittedly does not compare to some of the movies out today, the delivery of the story is wonderful. The tale is familiar, albeit with the addition of a dog for Scrooge fittingly named Debit, but it is the addition of broadway worthy song that makes this version of A Christmas Carol unforgettable. A must see!

  1. This movie is a sweet depiction of the Birth of Jesus. It is well written and produced.

  2. I bought this for my 3 and 1 year old children. It uses words like stupid, ugly, and dumb (the donkey has a bad attitude in the beginning and after helping Mary, Joseph and Jesus he becomes a good donkey). Now it may be naive of me in today's society, but I do not want my children learning these words from a Christian video about the birth of Christ! If your kids are older and/or already know these words then it is a very cute story (although it could do a better job of reinforcing that name calling can be very hurtful).

  3. This is a terrible movie. I thought it would be a nice movie for kids and was very upset when I watched it and the nativity characters called each other stupid and screamed at each other. Ours is in a box in the basement because I can't in good conscience sell it at a garage sale and have some other poor family watch it. Really, really terrible movie.

  1. This DVD has been around for many years but it has been updated. It is great for children to hear and learn Christmas songs, especially the traditional ones. I use it in my day care and buy it as gifts for the younger children. They love it!!!

  2. I purchased this one for my 4 years old girl for the Holidays. She loved it and it was wonderful to play it to bring our home some Christmas spirit.

Some songs have slow pictures which possibly won't entertain smaller Children. For my 4 years old who loves Christmas songs and know most of them word for word it was very entertaining.

Great songs choices and presentation for the most part.

  3. This is a cute video. It has more religious songs than I would of liked. I expected mostly fun goofy songs about Christmas. It is a children's video after all. The music itself is well done. There is a wide range of characters singing. Not a bad video over all.

  4. This is an excellent Christmas DVD.
Preschoolers through 2nd graders love this music.
    Great animation.
    Adult friendly!

  5. I completely agree that they really messed this one up. The original was charming and heart warming, but the new one is...well, a little creepy. I think the voiceover reminds me of The Nightmare Before Christmas, which is a great film, but not at all what this video was about. The new songs don't flow well, and the differences in animation are jarring at best. I really can't see why they changed it at all, except maybe to lengthen it. I just shelved my DVD and ordered another VHS to replace my old one. I don't think the DVD wil get pulled out anytime soon....

  1. I am sitting here in the living room next to the Christmas tree and with my family watching this video (we just hit repeat, so this is the second time around). It is wonderful. My six year old loves it (we've made him a big Frank fan over the years). It makes me yearn for these simpler times and evokes a wonderful warmth of the holidays. If you like Frank and/or Bing you need this video. I haven't seen the extras so I can't comment on those...just the half hour show is worth $10.

  2. This was an entertaining dvd. I especially liked the period decor and the interaction between Frank and Bing. These guys were icons in their time, and they sang excellent together.

  3. the film type was older and not as enjoyable. it was just the 2 of them enjoying an evening, it was a very short dvd,Shipped as promised.

  4. I was looking for old Christmas specials, and I ordered this, not really knowing what I would get. What a wonderful surprise! My children absolutely adored this special, which features Bing Crosby as a dinner guest being entertained by Frank Sinatra. There's a bit of a time travel sequence back to Merry Old England as well. This made for a delightful veiwing one evening over the holidays.

  5. What can I say...a short 30 minute show (then there is another bonus feature on the disk which adds more to the viewing minutes). Great music, very easy listening. I enjoyed this DVD, I think you would too!

1 comments about Sin You Sinners/Dance Hall Racket.
  1. An aging stripper wields great powers over others with the aid of a mysterious amulet in SIN, YOU SINNERS.
The word `aging' seems a kind way to put it. By the look of things, Mama's 30-year-lease on middle age is about to expire soon, although that fact doesn't seem to threaten her hold over manager Dave and her daughter. Nor, saints preserve us, does it stop her from grinding and bumping every 15 minutes or so.
Dave, Mama's bought and paid for boy toy, is her manager and bongo drum accompanist when she's plying her second trade as an amulet waving spiritualist who specializes in bilking the rich. Dave also has the hots for the daughter, and the 20-something daughter has the hots for Dave, but neither can unrage a hormone whilst Mama wears the amulet. Even though Mama, saints preserve us, gets to shimmy and shake in her skimpy bikini with the fringe on top, this isn't really a blue movie. Beyond awful, I don't know what it is or how to explain it.
The second howler on this dvd, the reason I picked it up in the first place, is the Lenny Bruce scripted and starring vehicle (the only real movie he was ever in) DANCE HALL RACKET. This one is about a dance hall bilking its customer and the hall's dancing girls bilking the management. Bruce is a revered by stand up comedians as an edgy, topical, pioneering genius of the first order. That may all be so, but his first scripting credited movie doesn't bear it out. No stand up, no jokes, no ha-ha in this one. It stinks.
It doesn't help that the transfer print was in pretty bad shape, and at some point between 1953 and today someone clipped out all the brief nudie shots in the girls' dressing room. Losing the quick peeks is no big deal, but it fouls up the soundtrack and dialogue and renders some conversations even more ridiculous than I imagine they'd be otherwise.
Two stinkers for the price of one. Not recommended as entertainment, although this is probably the best chance you have to see a walking and talking Lenny Bruce. If that doesn't do it for you, avoid this dvd like the plague.

  1. This definitely has to be near the bottom of the barrel when it comes to Christmas specials, although it seems not to prevent this monstrosity from blighting the airwaves every Christmas season. It is so bad on so many levels --- a typically cheesy good vs. evil Christmas story, mundane "stars on ice" skating, and of course the always godawful music of Mannheim Steamroller. In a day & age when the airwaves are littered with embarrassingly tacky holiday specials, "The Christmas Angel" dexterously combines several dreadful elements which result in a holiday experience which will burn itself onto your memory --- unfortunately --- for all time. If you like this sort of stuff, you may be grateful for this, but if you possess a modicum of good taste, you may want to avoid this like the plague.

  2. This was an excellent production and enjoyed by our 8 and 10 year old grand daughters. We previewed the DVD first and then prior to showing it to our grand daughters talked about good and evil in life and that there was good and evil in what they were going to see. We thought the devil looking skaters would bother them.

  3. GREAT ALBUM! Not quite as BIG as Trans Siberian but still a keeper!

  4. when i saw this on TV the first time i knew i had to own it. its Dorothy at her absolute best. she is a gem in the skating world and she really shines in this production, along with the wonderful cast and my favorite Christmas music. we watch it every holiday season as well as throughout the year. thanks, Chip!

  5. Thoroughly enjoyable DVD. I have long followed the skaters and skating shows. So I am familiar with the cast of this show. The addition of Mannheim Steamroller music adds to its uniqueness. I bought a sample of this DVD last year and decided I must have the complete show. Well executed wih a cute story line. Randy Gardner's choreography is amazing.
