5 comments about Blue's Clues - Blue's First Holiday.
  1. This episod is very cute as they showing Joe and Steve when they were little. My 2 little boys love to watch and pretending like them.

Older brother and baby brother they are gather and hug each other...they just love to watch this episod over and over!

  2. My little one LOVES this DVD the most. He completely gets the idea of the holidays. It's good they put a collection together that shows how Steve met Blue and how Joe was just a baby. The other episodes go along with the winter theme. Great!!!

  3. I bought this DVD because holiday episodes are only played at Christmas and I had never seen it. Also, these shows aren't on any of the other collections we own. Not my son's favorite, but it's still a good collection.

  4. We got this DVD for my 18 months old son and he loves it. I really like the first Bonus Episode with Steve when he and Blue are visiting their friends. The first episode explains how Blue and Steve met and how the whole game of Blue's Clues started. Pretty neat.
I like it and my sons too.

  5. We bought this item as a pre-Christmas gift for our 3 1/2 year old son. We watched it during our family movie night. Our son loved the featured episode and loved seeing Joe as a baby.

It is a great story that details how Blue came to live with Steve as well as a telling of the first time they ever played Blue's Clues. I would recommend this to anyone who knows a child that loves Blue's Clues.

After watching the featured episode about 29 times, our son moved on to the other episodes...two are of the holidays and the last is about Joe's birthday. He loves them all.

5 comments about My Friends Tigger & Pooh - Super Sleuth Christmas Movie.
  1. My 3 year old watched this movie every day and sometimes several times a day during the holiday season. If you have a fan of the super sleuth's at home this will be a big hit. This is the type of movie I can take out every holiday season and make part of her tradition.

  2. My daughter watched this video almost everyday from when we got it in the mail to when we hid it after Christmas (to watch next year). There is a cute main story and two smaller episodes as well as several interactive games. I would recommend to anyone who likes the TV show or Winnie the Pooh (as long as they are okay that the main character is a girl Darby and not Christopher Robins).

  3. This adorable DVD has great animation, color and the musical score is catchy! If you're going to have to watch a DVD over and over and over with a child this one is a winner.

  4. This is a great christmas present for little ones. My two little ones love this movie.

  5. My daughter had seemed to outgrow Pooh within the last few months, but these new Tigger & Pooh Super Sleuth movies are for a slightly older crowd. My 5 year old loves them! Good job Disney!!

5 comments about Winnie the Pooh - A Very Merry Pooh Year.
  1. A good Holiday movie with all the usual cast. I watched this movie this morning with my nephew to introduce him to the Holiday *this is his first* and I enjoyed it as much as he seemed to! My only small complaint is that when they go into different part's of the story (ie the new year celebration) it seemed a little arkward. Other then that, two thumbs up.

I hope that this will become a holiday tradition.

  2. Actually, more like New Year's and Christmas, as that's what this DVD features.

The story begins with an opening segment in which Pooh Bear hides a present he has for Piglet. Then our friends gather together and tell little Roo about a past Christmas. This segment comes from the special "Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too," featuring the characters from "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh." Pooh and his friends are getting ready for Christmas. They decide to make a Christmas list and come up with all sorts of gifts that they want to give each other. But when the list is lost to the wind, Pooh and Piglet decide to dress up as Santa and a reindeer and make gifts.

Later, they recall a New Year's in which Rabbit wanted to move away because he was irritated Pooh's eating honey, Tigger's bouncing, Piglet's being afraid and Eeyore's gloominess. So they all made resolutions to change and swapped personalities.

One reason this production is neat is that it has Gopher in it --- he really isn't seen too much lately.

This movie features songs by Carly Simon (who also did the songs for the more recent "Piglet's Big Movie" and "Heffalump Movie") as well as by the characters. She does a great job, as always. The best is "Auld Lang Syne" (with Pooh-specific lyrics mixed in.) This is great, because you don't usually get to hear lyrics for this song these days, only the tune.

DVD special features include a "Covered in Snow" game, a "New Year's Eve" countdown and song selection with on-screen lyrics. These features aren't anything overly exciting, but they are fairly nice. The "Covered in Snow" game is a bit flawed in that you're supposed to choose objects, but it lets you choose the same ones over and over and doesn't progress the game any. Otherwise, good game. You can also put the DVD in your DVD-ROM drive (if you have one) to register it.

  3. this isnt a favorite of ours. my son looses interest in in quickly.

  4. We checked this video out from the library during the holidays last year and watched it over and over. The entire family loved it so much that we're buying it for this holiday season! The animation and storyline are very sweet and beautifully done.

  5. Wonderful addition to the Winnie-the-Pooh family! I purchased this along with Winnie the Pooh - Seasons of Giving, and the new Disney show My Friends Tigger & Pooh - Super Sleuth Christmas Movie and am glad I did! This full length feature follows both perfectly as the gang counts down to New Year's recalling favorite memories. My 2-year-old daughter loves this and the others so much, she requests them each day and I'm happy to have her watch them! It is just good old fashioned fun that brings back my own memories that I'm happy to share with my daughter!

5 comments about It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
  1. This is a keepsake. I've enjoyed "It's The Great Pumpkin.." for many years, tried not to miss it on TV, finally recored it on VHS, wore out that copy. Wanted a DVD to watch with my grandkids, hopefully in the near future.

  2. This DVD was in fine shape, it just took much longer to arrive than all of my other orders. It took almost 4 weeks to get to me.

  3. Bought this for a preschooler who definitely enjoyed it. I enjoyed it as much if not more than he did.

  4. It's quintessential Charlie Brown and Snoopy as the Red Baron is perfection. I spent years trying to tape this and finally caved and bought it!!! My daughters loved it and my granddaughter has already watched it (and a few of the other Charlie Brown classics) several times!!!! It will be enjoyed by every generation thanks to Charles Schultz.
It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

  5. What can you say about this classic. Hearing Linus trying to convice everyone of the great pumpkin brought back some found memories of when I used to sneak and stay up past my bedtime a watch it. Charlie Brown classics are a always a sure fire hit.

5 comments about Winnie the Pooh - Springtime with Roo.
  1. We rented this movie from Blockbuster. A part when rabbit's friends are missing was his worst nightmare

  2. If there is justice in the universe, the ghost of A.A. Milne haunts Michael Eisner on a nightly basis for films like this one.

The plotline is almost indecipherable, and the references to "Easter" are absolutely pointless since what you have here is a determinedly secular film trying to dance around the meaning of a religious holiday.

At one point, Rabbit actually physically throws the other characters out of his house in a way that is almost violent. For anyone who has grown up loving what the Pooh stories were originally all about, this film is a new low.

  3. My 2 1/2 year-old son loves all things Pooh and I guess this is no exception. Unfortunately for him, he won't be watching it again. I don't understand why Disney decided to make an "Easter" DVD that had nothing to do with Easter. I mean they could have done a "springtime" DVD (as the show's title would imply) with their own made-up holiday, but that's not the case here. I imagine that non-Christian parents wouldn't want their kids watching anything having to do with Christian holidays, whereas Christian parents will likely be confused and disappointed by how this DVD repeatedly tries to explain "the true meaning of Easter" without ever even alluding to Christian doctrine. I certainly don't look to Disney for spiritual enlightenment, but neither do I expect from them such pointless and confusing children's fare. Please look to Heffalump, The Tigger Movie, or Piglet's Big Movie for more wholesome, innocent entertainment.

  4. What can you say, it is Pooh and friends, but this allows Roo to shine in the spotlight. We had bought this movie before, and it got broken, now that we have it again, it is watched alot, has taught her to see what she has heard about the workings of Easter

  5. I usually love everything Winnie the Pooh that comes along. This movie is almost painful to watch. There aren't any catchy songs, the storyline is stretched thin, and Rabbit's character is downright mean (I might even go as far as to say that he's abusive, while the other characters try to make excuses for him). The only glint of wit in it is when Tigger makes a Dickens reference, as this is an unabashed and abyssmal rip-off of a Dickens classic. Even my children are less than thrilled with it, and at ages 2 and 4 they are usually easy to please, as long as it's animated. The younger child is now afraid of Rabbit. Don't waste your money on this one: Pooh's Heffalump Movie, Piglet's BIG Movie, The Tigger Movie are all so much better!

5 comments about A Christmas Story [Blu-ray].
  1. Still my favorite movie and in Blu-Ray it doesn't get any better than
    this!!!

  2. This was part 1 of my husband's Christmas present (I also got him the lamp, the beer stein and the soap, decoder, and of course, the LAMP!

This DVD has a lot of extras on it we enjoyed watching. A family tradition

  3. This is our family's favorite Christmas movie. It's perfect for all ages! The narrator does a great job throughout the movie helping us all to recall fond memories of our childhood Christmases. You'll be giggling throughout the movie!

  4. I love this movie it makes you laugh and cry. By the way have you ladies seen Peter Billingsley (Ralphie) lately? He is SOOOOOOOOO HOT.

  5. New Ultimate editions of A Christmas Story are coming out in standard definition and Blu-ray. It appears from the announcement that each will repackage the current version with special memorabilia. So, the standard DVD Ultimate edition will have the same DVDs as the 2003 2-disc Special Edition, and the Blu-ray Ultimate edition will have the same DVD as the 2006 Blu-ray. In addition, they'll have these non-DVD extras:

-- a collectible retro Christmas cookie tin (the container for the set)
-- 48-page cookbook with recipes inspired by the movie
-- photos and quotes from the movie
-- a red chef's apron with an A Christmas Story logo on it
-- 5 collectible cookie cutters "in iconic Christmas Story shapes" (looks like a star, a house, a leg lamp, Ralphie in his bunny suit, and what may be Peking Duck)

And the Blu-ray will have a leg lamp stand. Not sure exactly what that will be, but it will obviously be smaller than the one in the movie if it fits in the tin.

You can find photos at various sites (google "a christmas story" "ultimate collector's edition" and, for one site I've used, "dvdactive").

There's nothing in the studio press release that indicates the new editions will be remastered.

The 2-disc Special Edition from 2003 and the Blu-ray from 2006 both have the same DVD special features, which are shared by the Ultimate editions:

-- audio commentary by director/co-writer Bob Clark and star Peter Billingsley (Ralphie)
-- two readings by Jean Shepard, author and narrator for the movie (audio only)
-- Another Christmas Story featurette, includes interviews with Clark and a few members of the cast
-- Get a Leg Up featurette, about the making and ongoing sale of the (in)famous leg lamp
-- A History of the Daisy Red Ryder featurette, on the object of great desire's actual history
-- Triple Dog Dare Interactive Trivia
    -- Decoder Match Challenge
-- easter eggs (including an actual ad for the leg lamp)
    -- original theatrical trailer

The video quality of the 2003 standard DVD release is fairly good, a bit soft, with good mono sound. It includes both the original 1.85:1 widescreen format (anamorphic) and full screen versions. The Blu-ray from 2006 is soft-looking for a hi-def version, with fairly good color and the same mono sound.

Now, about the really good stuff, the movie. A Christmas Story is that odd film that appeals to a cross-section of viewers who often can't agree on what to watch. Fans of sweet Christmas cheer are happily joined by people with a more jaundiced eye to the holiday. To be sure, the movie leans more to the sweet than the sour, but it has enough edge and good-natured twistedness to please some of our darker Christmas angels too. It conveys a genuinely warm nostalgia and some sharp, sometimes pretense-deflating observations about human nature.

The story is set at some indefinite time around 1940 in an Indiana town approaching the holidays. Young Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) wants only one thing for Christmas, the Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-Shot Lightning Loader Range Model Air Rifle with a compass in the stock. (That is, a BB gun, a very particular one.) He plans carefully well in advance how to lay the groundwork for this while avoiding the dreaded rebuff, but almost everyone says it anyway: "You'll put your eye out!" The relentless struggle for the one true gift develops alongside several other small stories and amusing details, a tongue-on-frozen-pole triple-dog dare, facing the local bully, the notorious leg lamp, the Santa slide, Peking Duck for Christmas, and several others, each memorable in itself.

The actors aren't very well known, but they're all just right. There is narration throughout, representing an older Ralphie, done by the originator of the story, Jean Shepard, also just right.

This movie, made in 1983, has gradually become a favorite Christmas classic, now shown in an annual 24-hour Christmas marathon on cable, which attracts a huge number of viewers. If you've never seen it, give it a try, even if you have a little Scrooge in you, and you'll probably enjoy it. If you're a big fan, or know one, you might want the memorabilia with one of the new Ultimate editions for yourself or a gift. If you don't care about such extras, just get one of the older editions.

There are Amazon pages to pre-order the Ultimate editions here (standard DVD) and here (Blu-ray).

  1. We think this a wonderful dvd. My sons loved clayamtion Christmas. We sang the songs and rememberd catchy phrases from the movie.
Plus you get Easter and Halloween. Any age would enjoy this.

  2. It was always a family favorite and it was great to find it in DVD format. A lot of fun and laughs.

  3. When I was a kid it was an annual event to sit around the tv and watch the Christmas Claymation. I missed this show and was more than excited to find this on DVD. I actually bought 3 sets so I could give a couple as gifts to my family.

  4. It was an impulse purchase at Christmastime. I purchased it and sent it to my parents' house while I was in Florida, with the in-laws. It was awesome to hear them recount watching it when I returned to Ohio. After reading several other reviews, I advised them to skip the Halloween & Easter segments. Its a family tradition for us to watch Claymation Christmas & now we can watch it on DVD, since the VHS tape was wearing out.

  5. My wife and I remember watching these specials as kids. It was just as we remembered them. This was a great find. The claymation is still amazing to see.

5 comments about It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown (remastered deluxe edition).
  1. Product as described. Perfect condition. Fast arrival. Extra snippets and specials on the DVD. Would recommend seller without hesitation.

  2. I am a little biased b/c my 2yo is OBSESSED with Snoopy, but this was a fun DVD. Easter Beagle is a classic and I especially enjoyed the part where Peppermint Patty tried to teach Marcie to color eggs. Easter Beagle is a classic and is enjoyable for us nostalgic adults too! And Charlie Brown--oops, I mean Schultz--allowed the female characters to be more likeable in this one, which is not usually the case. The bonus episode, Arbor Day, was cute and not an episode I'd seen before. Best of all, my 2yo loooooooves this DVD b/c there are plenty of SNOOPY scenes which cause lots of happy giggles! Definintely two thumbs up from us!

  3. it brings back memories, it's innocent, cute, funny and great for the who family to see regardless of age.

  4. It's The Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown originally aired in 1974 on the CBS network. The special features the voices of Todd Barbee, Melanie Kohn, Stephen Shea, Linda Ercoli, Lynn Mortensen, James Ahrens, and Bill Melendez. The musical score is composed by Vince Guaraldi, and the presentation is directed by Phil Roman. ***

Just in time for Easter, the classic Peanuts special has been given the remastering treatment, and released again as a "special edition." ***

It's The Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown was one of the many television specials released based on the comic strips of Charles Schulz. Naturally, this special focuses on the holiday of Easter, and a number of adventures that befall our young heroes. Amongst the plots crammed into the 25-minute television presentation are Peppermint Patty's efforts to dye Easter eggs, only to have her plans be ruined by awkward pal Marci, Linus frequently preaching to everyone that the "Easter Beagle" will come on Easter Sunday, and Snoopy's efforts to get his bird friend Woodstock a decent place to sleep. ***

All of the Peanuts television specials are classics, and well worth watching. But one thing I won't deny is that the Easter Beagle does fall short of earlier outings. For instance, the episode tends to focus more on the commercial aspects of Easter than the deeper, religious meanings (which the earlier A Charlie Brown Christmas did to perfection.) It's still worth picking up if you're a fan of the comic strip or these characters, though. ---

    Image And Sound:

While this still isn't a great DVD transfer, it's definitely a step up from the 2003 DVD release. The 2003 release had a rather soft picture, and plenty of grain throughout. The picture this time around is sharper, and while there's still some grain in many places, I won't deny that this is the best the special has looked in a home video release to date. ---

    Special Features:
Despite being billed as a "Special Edition", there are only two bonus features here. The first is the 1976 special, It's Arbor Day, Charlie Brown. This was included as a bonus feature on the original DVD issue as well, so it's nothing new to the DVD presentations of this special. The new, more noteworthy special featured here is the In Full Bloom: Peanuts on Easter featurette. This features a variety of interview footage, and while you'll probably learn some things you didn't know, at just 15 minute it leaves you wanting more. Whether or not you want to buy this special on DVD again based on the inclusion of one little new documentary is up to you. ---

    Final Words:

This is one of many classic television specials based on Charles Schulz's classic characters, but it's definitely not up to the earlier specials, namely the Christmas and Halloween ones. Should you buy this DVD? If you're a Peanuts fan and don't have this on DVD yet, go for it. But if you bought the 2003 DVD, the only things you're getting here that weren't on that DVD are improved picture quality and a new documentary that only runs about 15 minutes. It's up to you to decide whether or not the double dip is worth it.

  5. Never laughed so much during the original classic Peanuts Christmas or Halloween shows, but this one is a hoot! The kids find nothing BUT Christmas items as they search for Easter goodies, seems like today even though unfortunately we have been dealing with this nightmare since the 1970s! Peppermint Patty trying to dye eggs as Marci constantly cooks them in every imaginable way, BUT hard-boiled. Buy it, watch it with your kids and find you're both "tee-hee"ing. Enjoy!

  1. I love this cause it's a good story and it has Hanson music in it. My kids loved the fact that there is a talking snowman in it.

  3. This is a great holiday movie . Got it so we would have it on dvd.
    thanks.............

  4. The movie is just too stupid to enjoy. I can usually suspend my disbelief but this was asking way too much. It would have played better as a comedy. Things I learned was snowmen don't have snowballs, they feel cold, and they can sneak into a hockey rink unnoticed.

  5. I lost my father last year and this movie make me remember all our great times at the same time that make me remember that he will leave in my heart for ever!
    Love this movie!
