1. I enjoyed "Madeline at the North Pole", but was very disappointed when I went to the 'Languages' section and did not have 'French' as one of the languages to hear the movie in. Madeline is French! All of her DVDs should offer a French language choice under the 'languages' setting of all Madeline DVDs. My 7 year old daughter has been studying French for 2 years because she loves Madeline and the idea that she is French.

   I only gave this DVD 3 stars because the French language was not available as a choice on this DVD. When the setting of all Madeline books, VHS, and DVDs are in France and the main character is French, then the sensible thing would be to offer French as one of the language choices on all of Madeline's DVDs in the future.

2. Well, I have only one complaint, and it should serve as a warning to DVD viewers: The DVD does not go directly to the menu when you put it in to the player. It plays the three episodes BEFORE going to the menu.

   Other than that, the episodes were great! I just love the songs there!




3. After seeing the poor reviews available, I thought I would add something more helpful -- about the programs themselves. The Madeline programs are sweet, well produced, have clever songs and important messages. My daughters have discovered and love Madeline - I am thankful for something that is good quality to watch, that doesn't have villains, violence and messages that fly over my 2 & 4 yr. olds' heads. (Message re previous reviews: You can choose the episode by pressing "menu"; and the fact that they are not in French does not detract from the quality and impact of the programs.

1. I'm not going to review the content, since many others have done a good job of that on each DVD's product page. But since there's so little product information on this page, I thought I'd add some.

   I thought it was a good value at $15 (+$2.98 shipping), which was for "used-like new" condition. If I had to pay more than that, I would have just picked one or two and bought them new from Amazon, with free shipping.

1. It is a DVD to own, maybe see again in a few years, and relive these moments all over again. As other viewers mentioned though, the quality is not top, many interesting towns are missing (like Saigon, where I was), and in some instances four cities were on the split screens: HELLO, we are not live anymore! I won't mind seeing Washington in full size after seeing NY. No need to put them together at the same time and have to squint. Plus, I thought President Clinton's speech was really good and would have liked to see it on the DVD...

   It could have been much much better, but it is the only one available: it is the monopoly law.




2. I feel there is too much focus given to just the fireworks displays at each site. If you have seen one sky rocket, you've seen them all. ABC's video tape on the 2000 celebration (which I would personally rate 4 stars) is much better, giving more time to other events.

   I'm glad I didn't erase the 5 tapes that I recorded ABC for 26 hours straight. CNN could have done much better.

4. I enjoyed "CNN Millennium 2000." I really liked the events as they unfolded. I had written a customer review of "CNN Millennium 2000" for both netflix.com and dvdempire.com and e-mailed copies of it to CNN's Paul Vercammen, SHOWBIZ correspondent, in the Los Angeles Bureau of CNN. I told him that it's a historic memento, not just for now, but for many years to come, because it's the only time in our lives will we ever see a new year like this-a new year dawn, a new century, and a new millennium. I also told him that I liked the report he gave from Las Vegas, Nevada, and liked Bernard Shaw and Judy Woodruff manning the newsdesk at the CNN Center in Atlanta. I also told him that I really liked watching the celebrations in the Pacific (Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Victoria, and Vancouver, the latter 2 are in British Columbia, the westernmost province in Canada, our neighbor to the north) because it really "heated it up," since all of the United States and all of Canada, its neighbor to the north, entered the new century. He sent me a reply thanking him for the kind words and support. He also told that he liked his assignment. I then e-mailed a copy of his reply to Scott Leon, his boss, in the New York Bureau of CNN.



5. This could have been good, if attention had been paid to the transfer to DVD format. The fireworks look more like indistinguishable blobs of light even on a TV... on a progressive scan computer monitor or hi-res TV, forget it. Don't waste your money if you want to see sharp, clear fireworks & images... clearly this presentation was thrown together with no thought at all. Maybe you taped something off cable on new years eve, 2000... if so, what you have almost certainly looks better than this, so see if you can get it digitized.

1. Loved all three videos. Mainly bought them cause I had recorded them from tv. yrs. ago and tapes were wearing out. Enjoyed them just the same. Would recommend.



2. The tax collecter song is AWESOME!!! i rewind this movie over
   and over again just to watch that song. Aaron also sings the reprise of the song. i have to admit, there is probbally a diffrent actor for Aaron in this one. his voice sounds higher.



3. It's So Awesome. The Movie Starts When We See The Little Drummer Boy Named Arron Playing His Drum To The Baby Jesus. Then One Of The Three Wise Men Named Melchior Told Him That He Was Going To See A Friend Of His A Man Named Simeon. Then We See Simeon At His House Looking At The Little Cute Silver Bells. Then He Looked At The Big Silver Bells. Then There Was A Knock On The Door. And It's The Tax Collecter. And He Demanded Simeon To Pay His Tax's. Until He Discovered The Silver Bells. Then The Tax Collecter And His Men Took The Bells Away. Then We See Arron With The Donkey And The Cute Little Lamb And The Camle. And One Of The Wise Men Melchior Is Riding On The Camle. Then Simeon Told Them That The Tax Collecter And His Men Have Taking The Bells. Then The Three Of Them Were Comming Up With A Plan To Get The Silver Bells. So If You Want To Know What Happens Next. Then You Should Buy This Movie. It's A Great Christmas Present For Your Little One.



4. Rankin/Bass studios hardly ever made sequels of any of their holiday specials, but this 3 pack has two sequels! First is the sequel to the Drummer Boy that plays every Christmas, but the sequel is harder to find. At the time I wrtie this, I do not think this has been on DVD yet. Next up is the true Frosty sequel, which is pretty rare as well. There is another awful show made by another studio that gets added to some tapes with the original Frosty, but THIS one is the true Frosty sequel, made by the same studio and producers as the first one. Last we have Pinnochios Christmas, made years later than most of the studio's Christmas shows. It is worth seeing to see how far their stop motion skills had come by then. Get this set while you can, it is worth every penny.
   
   Rankin/Bass Studio. Their studio has brought us such memorable holiday classics such as Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, Year without a Santa Claus, Nestor the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey, Mad Monster Party, The Little Drummer Boy, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Mouse on the Mayflower, Here Comes Peter Cottontail, Cricket on the Hearth, the Stingiest Man in Town, Jack Frost, Rudolph's Shiny New Year, the First Easter Bunny. They also made non-holiday films such as the Hobbit, Flight of Dragons, the Last Unicorn. It is incredible that one company is responsible for all those TV specials, 95% of the ones we see every year. Their work includes standard animation, stop-motion animagic, and live action.
   
   I hope this comes out on a restored DVD soon, I have bought all the other Rankin/Bass that have been released on DVD.



5. This followup show to the original is very well thought out and carries on the Christian theme of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

4. This is a great Christmas movie! It is a new take on an old favorite that stars Bill Murray. He plays the sharp tongued Frank Cross, and he is really good at being mean. David Johansen was scary as the ghost of Christmas past, Carol Kane was the ghost of Christmas present, and Chaz Conner was the ghost of Christmas future. Carol Kane was a scream, and I am sure Bill Murray had a bruise or two when they finished filming.

   Murray is flat-out perfect here, his first really nasty role and he nails it. Allen is a good foil for him, and there are many excellent twists on Dickens' tale. This may be a little too accurate for some in its portrayal of our materially-obsessed shallow natures, but hey, Jesus would certainly agree.

1. This DVD was very helpful to my family in planning a recent trip to California. It discusses many regions of the state and is actually pretty current, rather than the old-fashioned production you might have seen with other travel videos.
