1. This delightful book gives a wonderful glimpse into the Mexican culture of fireworks, as seen by a little girl whose family are deeply involved in that culture. As a fireworks professional, I appreciated this warm and sympathetic view of fireworks. When people ask why I am involved in fireworks, I get out this book and show them the picture on the cover. Fireworks is the only way I know to put that expression of joy and awe onto the faces of children. A truly wonderful book, which captures that wonder.

1. I first discovered this book while working in a daycare center. The children loved the characters of Ann and Andy, and I loved that it taught excellent lessons regarding manners and proper behavior. I don't know how many times I read this book to the children. The book deals with the correct way we should treat others (a quality so lacking in today's society) and does so by providing little rhyming scenarios that Ann and Andy face. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to teach proper manners and treatment of others to children, but since it is out of print it will not be easy to find. I am so thankful that I have my own copy to read to my children.

1. Find your favorite reading spot and let Billy Mahoney transport you to the hilarious, offbeat world of Herbert Fogge on the Northern California coast. I haven't laughed this much in years. Not your typical Christmas tale, this book's quirky charm won't let you put it down. Highly recommended



2. I usually get about five pages into a book before I know whether it's worth my time to continue. "Christmas in Carmel" had me hooked by one and a half. I so enjoyed every character and the story, texture and color behind each one. By the time I was finished reading I had sore cheeks and couldn't figure out why. Then, I realized I had smiled through most of the book.
   
   The main character, Mr. Fogge, was an exasperating enigma. He was the type of guy that you really want to hate during most of the book but end of loving for his uniqueness. I think his secret to longevity should be shared with the world.

3. I've never been to Northern Calif, but the world of Mr. Fogge and the cast of characters makes me want to wing right out there. Bill Mahoney has written a funny, whimsical, and entertaining look at a man and his world. No heavy lifting here - just a great read even for us students with a short attention span.

4. I thought this book was wonderful. I would recomend it to everybody.



5. I found a copy of this novel on an airplane, in the seat pocket. Until I began reading it, I was glad it had been left behind -- since I had no other reading material with me.
   But I quickly changed my mind, realizing that it was dumped in the back of the seat for a very good reason.
   The author's prose is turgid, the plot tortured and his attempts at humor are sophomoric. All in all, it amazes me that this book has made it all the way to #1.4-million on the Amazon most purchased list.
   This fellow would be better served if he spent more time in online chat rooms than pretending to be a writer.
   Summary: worth every penny it cost me.

1. Our six-year-old son loved Yankee Doodle so much that he brought it home from the school library two weeks in a row. He was fascinated by the pictures, and he enjoyed telling us his own interpretation of the story. After reading (and singing) the book together for several nights in a row, his reading improved noticeably. Not surprisingly, he begged us to get him his own copy.



2. The book is wonderful. My toddler enjoys the tune very much. We had a question, needed to know how the battery for the book could be changed.
