5 comments about Olive the Orphan Reindeer.
- I have this book and I love it. It's a fun book for all ages. The story is unique and cute and I wouldn't be surprised to see it made into a movie someday like Rudolf.
- My 7 year old son and I just finished reading Olive, the Orphan Reindeer. What a delightful story. Each year we read The Night Before Christmas, The Christmas Carol, or Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer, it was nice to discover a new title to add to our holiday reading. The press release stated that this book was geared toward the age group 9-12. My 7 year old read this book with ease and understanding. I agree with Michael, this book is for anyone who believe in Christmas.
Good Job, Are there other books available by this author?
- It strengthened the Christmas atmosphere in my classroom. My grade two and three students were intrigued by the introduction of Olive and a new team of reindeer. The use of humour combined with suspense and adventure captured the attention of every child in the classroom. It had everyone reading!!! A teacher`s dream. A story for children and adults of the twenty first century. Keep it up Michael
- This is a beautiful little book with a captivating heroine. "Olive" is written in a style which will appeal to children and adults alike, and the illustrations are delightful. It is time for a new Christmas story, and my hat's off to Michael Christie for producing one that I'm sure will become a classic. My nieces in England loved it!
- This is a great heartwarming story for families at Christmas. I can't recommend it enough!

5 comments about Meteor!.
- Meteor is one of the best books I've ever read. I'm 14 years old and thats kind of old for a kid's book but it is really great. When I was in 4th grade. I got to meet Patricia the author of the book. She read this book to my whole school during an assembly. it was so cool. What's even cooler is that this story is true. She even brought a piece of the rock to the school and I got to touch it. Patricia is an out stand women. I love all her books she's written. Meteor is a great story about a falling odject out of the sky that brings the whole town to it. It's just great. Patricia is one of my favorite all time aurthors. I reccommend this to everyone.
- I recently had the honor of listening to Patricia Polacco tellabout this book. Not only is the story based on true events, but shecarries a piece of the meteor with her when she travels. The story isexciting, and the pictures are wonderful. Ms. Polacco has a gift for telling stories, and she also spreads a wonderful message. Many of her stories stress kindness, compassion, and acceptance of others. I recommend, not only this book, but all of the books by Patricia Polacco.
- I loved this book because it was scary and exciting. I love all of Patricia Polacco's books, because they are all personal narratives!
- Meteor is a great childs book but it is also great for anyone who reads it. The author, Patricia Polacco, wonderfully uses all the space on each page to create an experience like you are actually there. The pictures will make children stare wide-eyed for hours. The book will make you giggle on every page. What makes this book even better is that it is completely true. The author really put her heart and soul into it because it comes out of her life experience. She uses alot of different characters and animals to liven each page up. I would recommend it for anyone but especially for younger children.
- Have you ever wanted a meteor to land in your yard? If you have, read the book Meteor by Patricia Polacco. It all starts when a meteor hits a farmer's field. The whole town comes out to see it. The mysterious meteor causes miracles. If you want to learn more about this story, pick up a copy today.
I think it is a good story because it is entertaining. The story really makes you wonder. I recommend it to you because I think you would like it. That's why Meteor is a good book.

1 comments about Weird And Wacky Festivals (On the Edge).
- There are many varieties of fun and this book illustrates some of the more unusual forms. La Tomatina is a giant tomato fight held annually in Bunol, Spain. Approximately 20,000 people from all over the world throw approximately 45 tons of raw tomatoes at each other. In Ivrea, Italy the fight is with oranges, however in Millsboro, Delaware the action is more scientific. Every autumn, there is a contest to see who can fire a pumpkin the farthest. The only rule is that explosives are disallowed, yet the record is an amazing 3,800 feet, which is almost three-fourths of a mile. Other festivals described are:
*) The cockroach races in Australia.
*) The rolling of cheese wheels in Gloucester, England
*) In Bognor Regis, England they attempt to create human flying machines
*) A mixture of soccer and rugby in Florence, Italy
*) A Viking festival in York, England
*) Kinetic sculptures in Arcata, California
*) Radish sculptures in Oaxaca, Mexico
*) Ice sculpture in Sapporo, Japan
*) Crying baby contests in Japan
*) A mosque plastering festival in Mali, Africa
Written at the level of the late elementary and early middle school child, this book is an excellent introduction to some of the most unusual celebrations that take place around the world.
