  1. Here's another total charmer from Tanen. I read "Coco All Year Round" to my 10-month old son and he seemed to really enjoy the pictures. And I love the clever captions and quirky characters. I'm a big fan of Tanen's chicken books and highly recommend this newest one (and all the others) for the young and the young-at-heart.

  2. Small children and the adults who read to them must both delight in Coco. This chic avian ingenue engages both wide-eyed pre-schoolers and their sophisticated elders. Who could resist Coco in her Halloween frog costume?

  3. When we read Coco All Year Round to my 9 month old, he goes APE. The pictures are so colorful and chock full of imagery and the text is short, sweet and, as usual for Tanen, clever. Coco covers everything from stepping in poop to vegetarianism. We love it at our house.

  4. Once again, Sloane Tanen has created a great early childhood book that will become a child's favorite. I love this book and all the Sloane Tanen books!
Every home with very young children should have this book...it is wonderful!

  1. I think people should really read this book to find out why we celebrate Cinco de Mayo. I also never knew that Mexico and the United States worked together in history. The pictures are great!

5 comments about The Cupid Chronicles (The Wedding Planner's Daughter #2).
  1. Again, Ms. Paratore has written a fun adventure set in a great summer time place. If you can't go to the Cape, reading this will take you there. If you're there, what fun to read about the very place you are in! The best part about this series (well, it's the second book about the character, we can only hope it's a series) is the wonderful literature referenced throughout the story. It's a great way to find some meatier books to indulge in over the summer!

  2. C.M.P. is such a gifted writer. What a gift to see a child as a child should be! I love Willa (I celebrate the real way you chose to characterize our Willa).

Talk about a book that makes you feel. You do not just read it, you feel it. You feel Willa, you feel her mother, you feel her grandmother...you feel!

I tell you...these "little novels" are appropriate for their audience; however, they are mature enough to capture the attention of a light-hearted and loving adult (such as me)! I am so greatful to have something that my daughter and I can read (and love) together. I cannot wait for the 3rd book!

Thank you for sharing Willa with us (and all the other characters, which we also love)!

  3. Willafred Havisham is not your everyday Bramble, Cape Cod kind-of girl. She's the girl that sits in the corner and reads, rather than joining the party. But in the The Cupid Chronicles, Willafred, also known as Willa, steps out of the box and speaks up.Willa and her best friend Tina are enjoying their wonderful life in Bramble. But when Willa hears the news that the Bramble Board is closing the local library, Willa looks for ways to stop them. But with things getting in her way, like her cutie crush Joey(also known to Willa as JFK) who kissed her, then moved away. Well he moves back and is excited to see Willa again. Can she fight to save the library and fight against cupid for the chance at love with JFK? You will just have to read the book to find out!

2 comments about Easy-To-Do Holiday Crafts From Everyday Household Items!: Including Crafts for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, and Every Day of the Year!.
  1. I got this book for my 5 year old daughter and 5 year old niece. They both love to make things and loved the items in this book. My daughter wanted to make so many things for each holiday, we didn't come close to making all of them. There are some items that are a bit lame, but the others make the book worth it. I only had to buy a few low cost craft items like felt squares, pipe cleaners, ribbon, and the like to make the items in the book. Everything else we had in the house (egg cartons, construction paper, material scraps, ...).
If you have "crafty kids" this is a good idea book for them. It would also be good for preschools, elementary schools, and churches.

  2. This is a fantastic book for parents, teachers, or anyone who likes to make crafts. Moms and teachers especially are always looking for ways to make crafts that don't cost much. This book shows you how to make really cute and original projects out of things we would recycle (or throw away!). I recommend it highly!

4 comments about Happy Birthday, Maisy: Mini Edition (Maisy).
  1. My 2-year old daughter received this on her 2nd birthday and loved the simple, bright pictures and the moving features. We've read it to her at least twice a day for 3 weeks now. Not much text. the Happy Birthday song in big letters really gets her going.

  2. Cousins "has it down" when it comes to the perfect books for children ages 0-4. Simple stories, two-dimensional drawings and bright primary colors. The subtle "lessons" that she passes on are a refreshing break from the sledgehammer approach to teaching taken by Barney, etc. No wonder Maisy is so popular!

  3. We love all Maisy books but this one is by far the best, tons of flaps and pull tabs make this book a favorite w/ my three yr old AND her 3 month old little brother! This book is so much fun, anytime! If your not familiar w/Lucy Cousins, she hits it right on target w/ her simple, bold primary colored illustrations and simple stories, kids just love!

  4. We all love this one. It's our favorite of all the Maisy books we've read so far. Unlike many others that just have flaps this one does so much more. My daughter loves to blow out the birthday candles, (while I pull the tab), and slurp the juice, (while I again make it disappear.) I think my husband was won over by the happy birthday underwear under the party dress. All and all, a lot of fun and the mini version does the same as the bigger one for such a low price.

5 comments about Scratch and Sniff: Halloween.
  1. The DK sniff books are just way above all the other scratch n' sniff books I've seen. The are sturdy and have a thick layer of scent that withstands lots of scratching. I just wish they would make more with some new scnets. I'd buy them.

  2. Good first book for children, the Scratch and Sniff gets their attention and is fun..

  3. I introduced my daughter to the world of scratch and sniff, and she is hooked. Unfortunately there are not a lot of good scratch and sniff books out there. DK seems to do a great job at them, so that's why we bought this book months before Halloween. We've had so much fun reading and smelling this book, the scents are truly divine. I agree with the other reviewer though, and we couldn't smell the lollipop on the last page either. Too bad... but we still loved the book!

  4. My 2-year-old (who was born in the month of October) is a big-time Halloween fan and talks incessantly about trick-or-treat, pumpkins, ghosts, and everything else Halloween ALL...YEAR...LONG (aauugh!). As such, she really loves this book. I think it is cute with good pictures. Most of the smells are pretty good, although my two gripes would be the pumpkin smell (as it STINKS to high heaven, in my opinion) and the lollipop (which we can't smell at all).

  5. My boys (4 & 6) love this book and have been reading it for the past couple of years. They really enjoy halloween and this is such a great book for kids from 1 through 6. The smells are great, and for the two years we have had this book the smells are still working well.

We read this around halloween and also my youngest son will pull this one out at least 3-4 times per month. It is a fun book for a gift or for your kids.
