1. By now you no doubt know what this CD is, a concept album telling the story of an angel who is charged by God to go to Earth and bring something back that represents humanity. Along the way, the angel encounters war and loss, hope and potential fulfilled. The music ranges from light choral to hard rocking, with the famous Christmas eve Sarjevo instrumental that gets lots of radio play around the holidays. The CD is engaging throughout, with powerful music and a feel-good ending. Some reviewers have claimed that it is sappy, but it's a holiday album! What did you expect from a Christmas album, gloom and despair? The Ornament, An Angel Returned, and This Christmas Day are personal favorites. If you have a chance to catch TSO in holiday concert, do so. My wife and I saw the concert this past year, with the music being supplemented by a narrator who tied the pieces of music together, telling the story of the angel's trips around the globe. It's beautiful and moving stuff, with a hard-rocking edge.



2. This lives up to the years of superb work by the Trans Siberian Orchestra.
   The music resonated with me in ways they cannot be described in words.
   It is not just music, or just listening to music. It is an organic experience that taps into my memories of Christmas past and antiicpaiton of the Christmas season.



3. I was highly disappointed in this CD. There was only one really good tune on this.



4. I cannot rate this CD high enough! It's awsome! Words can't express how I feel about it!



5. If you love Trans Siberian Orchestra you'll love this cd but even if you don't know who they are this is a great place to start. You might find this one at your local library or might be able to listen to tracks here on Amazon.

1. This product is excellent for my elderly.they really like it and love it.its a collection of beautiful songs from the 40's & 50's.



2. I just purchased this CD Collection set Recently. In my opinion, this is the Best Mitch Miller CD that has ever been released. (5 + Stars all The Way Through! I have alot of these songs on a great 33 record album which I also purchased back in the mid-60's. This CD set is fabulous & a must to have if you like Harmony. This great CD also could be re-titled--"Songs Of Amercica" because it has all of the Great Classic Songs such as "My Wild Irish Rose", "I'll take You Home Again Kathleen", "Shine On Harvest Moon", "Rock Of Ages" for example. There is only one thing that is negative about this collection of great classic songs of days gone by & that is--It does not include the great song (" Toot, Toot Toosie Goodbye"). This CD is Wonderful & the best CD in my opinion of the ole Classic "Songs of Amercia"! Superior Quality! Excellent Harmony! You will be Very Pleased with this Collection Set. Buy It Now! You Will Love It! Also if you like great Harmony--such as Barbershop Quartet's just let me know--I'll give you some great info!



3. I am listening to it right now and I am more than satisfied. I'm 56 and oh, the memories of the bouncing ball! I will be using this with the elderly in nursing homes. There is a new percussion instrument called Dancing Hands (tap dancing rhythm for your hands)that is being used in nursing homes around the country. I will use these songs with Dancing Hands! The songs on the CD are very tappable....all 50 of them!



4. I have always enjoyed Mitch and the Gang. This album is no exception. The songs have been re-mastered with great professionalism and really sound great. The best part is such a wide asortment put together in one album. I love to play it.



5. This has got to be the single best sing along CD ever put out for the sing along genertion. A real blast from the past.

5 comments about Dr. Demento 20th Anniversary Collection: The Greatest Novelty Records of All Time.

1. My son suggested this as a birthday gift to his older sister, from him to her - I think I've listened to it more than either of them.



2. This album is just plain fun. It's great to have a nice collection of novelty songs to sprinkle in during a party or when making compilation discs for long drives or just and evening of fun with some friends.
   
   Dr. Demento's collection surely won't be one of those precious "desert island" albums, those must have albums one would never be caught without, but in the context of a complete collection, it's good to have a few laughs here and there.
   
   You'd really have to be a baby-boomer to appreciate the full context of this album as many are from the before the 1970's, still have some fun, why not?



3. Ever feeling down? This collection will surely brighten your day! Thank the stars above for the good doctor D! If you also want a good laugh to read, try the Adventures With Boys "Instru-Mental" book, excellent laugh!!



4. As usual, Amazon came through with a hard to find CD. We got it quick, and in perfect condition. I had this on cassette, and needed to replace it with the CD version. There are just two songs on this collection that I can't stand, but over all, it's really fun to listen to.

1. I too checked a copy of this out of my local library! I put it in my car stereo and rocketed down the interstate but soon had to pull over. I was crying uncontrollably! I could not believe how beautiful Lizabeth's voice was!
   I took my copy to a friend of mine, who has a B&O system and played the masterpiece for him. He was positively blown away and plays his copy every night.
   I just bought a copy of the disc along with the second version, which I am listening to now.



2. I was totally hooked on this style of music after hearing this CD. It is incredibly deep and beautiful and lyrical and just the kind of music that brings ancient language and sounds to the 21st century. I have all of the music that Lizbeth Scott records - she is a very good writer of her own contemporary style of music. The entire State of Grace series is incredible but this one is my absolute favorite. Right behind this is Aria 2.



3. I had to laugh at the tag "similar to Mehdi"...that's like saying the Beach Boys are similar to the Monkees....
   
   For a while this CD never left my rotation, and I play a lot of music. I still get a quick thrill of anticipation when I run across it in my stacks of CDs, and decide to play it again.
   
   This is spiritual music, true, but it is modern vocal/electronica as much as anything. It has a beat, it has soul, it is full-toned and gorgeous. But not too sweet, as the female vocalist puts grit into the tunes. Don't be put off by "Amazing Grace": yes, its that song, but not like you've ever heard it before. The arrangements add a new feel, and counterpoint the melody in an interesting and new way. All the "familiar songs" are like that: e.g. "Gift to be Simple (AKA Lord of the dance, the Shaker song)". The original works are similarly wonderful. You will be amazed.
   
   Paul Schwarz has found a niche that I hope he never leaves. If he can continue to match the quality, beauty, composition and orchestration on this effort, he will become one of my top favorite artists of all time. (Other artists I enjoy: Enigma, Mark O'Conner, David Arkenstone, Acoustic Alchemy, Lesiem, Mars Lasar, Secret Garden, Bela Fleck, Moby, Bill Douglas, Dave Grusin, Fourplay, David Benoit, Angels of Venice, Loreena Mckennit, Andreas Vollenweider to name a very few. Mehdi is OK to go to sleep to.)



4. Paul Schwartz recordings in all three State of Grace albums are very well composed and orchestrated. The voice of Lisbeth Scott is angellic and the chorus performs flawlessly. You'll want to listen again and again and again. I highly recommend this item.



5. My youngest son was recently deployed to Iraq...the selection, "Be Still My Soul," has created a beautiful, peaceful place in my heart and spirit that provides a sense of peace and comfort. Lisbeth Scott's voice is angelic! She brings a depth of bliss that is calming...which radiates from her sweet voice, providing a magnificent place for solitude and prayer. I adore her...and appreciate her and this beautiful song more than she will ever know.

1. Sad really. Rick's voice is pretty much shot, very little range, he sounds hoarse on every song. The best track by far is an instrumental faux-Beach Boys "Deck the Halls." My copy is already on the way to "Goodwill".

4. I couldn't buy this CD at Christmastime. It was sold out. I decided to get it after Christmas so that I could have it for Christmas 2008 which is far away. I listened to only the first track and it sounded really nice.



5. Most people don't know that all the proceeds of Christmas With You went to the families of fallen troops here in the USA. What an amazing jesture by the greatest Rocker ever, Rick Springfield. There are numerous hits on here, not just Christmas hits but they should have been played on the radio all the time and gotten the respect they deserved! This is the best Christmas CD ever.

4. I bought this for my 3 year old son after he became a HUGE fan of the movie. He knows and wants to sing along with most of the songs (and I have to admit I like to sing along too). It's a must if you are a fan of the movie!

2. This is by far the most enjoyed CD I've ever purchased! Mariah Carey has an incredible voice. Each selection has special meaning for me and enjoyment! I play this CD often -- at work, in my car and home. It's soothing, comforting and relaxing. I can't begin to describe how this CD puts me in a special mood! Throughout the holiday season, I've noticed the radio stations and stores play several selections from this CD. A real testimony to a great artist! I plan on expressing these sentiments to Mariah Carey. This is going to be a seasonless CD I plan on playing often right into the next season. I never tire of listening to this CD. Its messages are profound!

4. I absolutely loved this CD, Mariah does a fabulous rendition of Oh Holy Night. It's a must have for any collection.

She has a great voice, and I am glad she decided to record this masterpiece back in 1994. The album debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 and has sold approx. 5 million copies in the U.S. alone and 16 million copies worldwide.Making it one of the best selling Christmas albums of all time. Other standout tracks include Joy To The World,Santa Clause Is Coming To Town,Silent Night,O Holy Night,and Jesus Born On This Day. Mariah Carey is a great artist, I have always enjoyed her music. Hopefully, she can make another Christmas album one of these days. Keep rockin Mariah!

1. I bought "Nicky's Jazz Lullabies" before my baby was born and loved it, so I decided to purchase this CD. My baby is a little young for it yet, but it fun to listen to while we play. The songs are cute and catchy, and I'm sure she'll love it eventually. I'm a jazz lover and hope to introduce her to some of the greats. Plus, in my opinion, this beats those cheesy kids songs any day.



2. I rarely write reviews, but just had to write about this amazing CD. It's not your typical kiddie-fare. My three kids (ages 4, 6, and 8) listen to this one over and over again, and my husband and I are hooked, too. We are not into jazz at all, but the songs here are so catchy and fun. It's cool enough that you could even play it at an adult function, and everyone would like it. In fact, I'm buying it for my mom, who is 64, because I know that she'll be singing it around the house in no time at all -- just like we do!



3. My grandson Carlos love this CD. He is four years old and has learned half the songs.This is a great way to introduce a variety of music .



4. Not only do my children expand their horizons by listening to jazz, but I am able to listen to the cd over and over and over, and over some more every single day. My son-3- just loves it and asks for it every time we get in the van. Once the cd starts, he starts singing and doesn't want anybody singing or talking so that he can hear all of it again. Needless to say, my daughter, who is two loves it as much. Highly recommend this to anyone. By the way, we have to have it in the van and in the house, along with other favorites.

1. I bought this CD a couple weeks ago and it soon become a favorite for Christmas. I have since bought 2 more copies for friends/family memebers. Very relaxing/soothing Christmas trumpet sounds, calms you down while you're driving!



2. Relax and enjoy Chris Botti while you're writing holiday cards, wrapping packages or bustling through your hectic Christmas to-do list. We'll have this CD playing on our Christmas travels this year. Hope you do too.



3. I ordered 3 cd's (1 for myself and 1 each for my nieces). All three of us thought it was great like his other cd's. I enjoyed the one with Dean Martin.



4. This is a great CD. I love Chris Botti's work and this is no exception. A great CD for background during a Christmas party or just to get you in the Christmas spirit.



5. Botti's music is always relaxing and comfortable. I'm inclined to put a bunch of his CDs in back to back on a rainy or snowy day at home and I don't care what month it is! This CD is in keeping with the others - smooth, sultry, polished.
