2. During this last Christmas I was watching PBS and saw a singer that brought me to tears. Her voice was so pure and angelic, I could not believe what I was hearing.
   Sissel has the voice of an angel, her voice is literally God given.
   I went out and bought the Christmas concert on DVD and CD and spent weeks listening to it almost exclusively.
   She not only had a great voice, but you kept wanting more and more.
   I was hesitant to buy this CD because I was afraid she would not capture the spirit she did with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
   I finally broke down and bought this CD, figuring that if the songs were about Christmas and winter, maybe it was worth buying.
   What she has put together here is nothing short of a masterpiece.
   If you watch the Northern Lights DVD, she sings again several songs she did with the MTC. I chose to buy the CD first, wanting to hear the new songs she had recorded.
   Hymn to Winter is a great song about true love with poignant lyrics.
   When will my Heart Arise is an English version of Mitt hjerte alltid vanker, which she states is her favorite Christmas song. I loved hearing the lyrics in English as opposed to Norwegian like she sang with the MTC.
   Going Home is another great song. The entire CD is excellant and certainly worth buying.
   What you have here, is the finest soprano voice in the world, She will Captivate you with your voice and the music will haunt you like you have never heard before. Sissel is not well known in the United States ( or at least not as popular as she is in Europe. I used to think Celine Dion on Titanic was a great voice. Sissel puts Celine Dion to shame. Now I listen to Titanic with new ears and hear her incredible voice. Sissel is on the verge of being very big in the United States........It's only a matter of time. This could be the break she needs.
   This is for people who love Classical, or Traditional Folk music from other countries than the United States.
   I recommend this CD to anyone who loves music at its purest, and its finest..........Enjoy



3. Again an incredible Sissel performance. I saw her in concert recently and had to have this album. A beautiful recording of a beautiful artist!



4. Amazon had a video clip of Sissel singing a track from this CD. Had never heard of her until then, what a find! She is one of the few vocalist that truly is versatile and able to sing a wide variety of styles. All the music contained in this CD is well suited to Sissel's voice and showcases the depth of her maturity. Added this CD plus three more to my library.



5. This CD showed up earlyer than I thought. The case was shattered but I had an extra. Sissels music brings me to tears.

1. I missed out on purchasing the 2004 Christmas album James Taylor recorded for Hallmark, but this album more than makes up for that oversight on my part. I love his renditions of "Go Tell It on the Mountain," "Some Children See Him," and "In the Bleak Midwinter." The highlight of the album, for me, is not the collaborations w/the other performers (Chris Botti, Natalie Cole, Toots Thielemans) but JT's cover of Joni Mitchell's "River." I like it better than Sarah McLachlan's version on her Wintersong album.



2. Is there anything much better than JT's voice and melodies?? "Winter Wonderland" is a favorite-

5. I like James Taylor. There's something about his voice that is so unpretentious, with it-is-what-it-is immediacy. I simply love his new Christmas CD. It's classic, jazz-flavored, but folksy and accessible. It's like sitting around a fireplace with your best friends. Speaking of friends, James brings trumpeter Chris Botti in for a few riffs on Winter Wonderland, and he does a cute Baby It's Cold Outside with Natalie Cole that's getting some airplay.
   
   Taylor does a mean Jingle Bells, having a lot of fun that seems to come across through the speakers. I guarantee that you'll never want to hear anyone else's version after hearing this one. But James hasn't forgotten his roots, and Christmas music was made with his voice in mind. His acoustic guitar sets a very comfortable, season-ready mood on old chestnuts like Have Yourself a Merry Christmas. Speaking of chestnuts, check out The Christmas Song with harmonica man Toots Thielemans backing him up. And Some Children See Him almost makes a believer of me.
   
   Remember the first winter night you tried hot cocoa... and added marshmellows? James Taylor at Christmas goes down that easy... and it feels good all the way.

1. This product is excellent for my elderly.they really like it and love it.its a collection of beautiful songs from the 40's & 50's.



2. I just purchased this CD Collection set Recently. In my opinion, this is the Best Mitch Miller CD that has ever been released. (5 + Stars all The Way Through! I have alot of these songs on a great 33 record album which I also purchased back in the mid-60's. This CD set is fabulous & a must to have if you like Harmony. This great CD also could be re-titled--"Songs Of Amercica" because it has all of the Great Classic Songs such as "My Wild Irish Rose", "I'll take You Home Again Kathleen", "Shine On Harvest Moon", "Rock Of Ages" for example. There is only one thing that is negative about this collection of great classic songs of days gone by & that is--It does not include the great song (" Toot, Toot Toosie Goodbye"). This CD is Wonderful & the best CD in my opinion of the ole Classic "Songs of Amercia"! Superior Quality! Excellent Harmony! You will be Very Pleased with this Collection Set. Buy It Now! You Will Love It! Also if you like great Harmony--such as Barbershop Quartet's just let me know--I'll give you some great info!



3. I am listening to it right now and I am more than satisfied. I'm 56 and oh, the memories of the bouncing ball! I will be using this with the elderly in nursing homes. There is a new percussion instrument called Dancing Hands (tap dancing rhythm for your hands)that is being used in nursing homes around the country. I will use these songs with Dancing Hands! The songs on the CD are very tappable....all 50 of them!



4. I have always enjoyed Mitch and the Gang. This album is no exception. The songs have been re-mastered with great professionalism and really sound great. The best part is such a wide asortment put together in one album. I love to play it.



5. This has got to be the single best sing along CD ever put out for the sing along genertion. A real blast from the past.

1. Great music - our kids 1-3 have loved loved loved this one (it's their pre-bed time favorite each night for YEARS). They loved it so much we bought a 2nd copy when the first wore out. If Elmo annoys some parents, this is a happy compromise - much less Elmo talk, and more awesome songs.



2. My son watched this movie ALL the time when he was a toddler. So much that we wore the dvd out! Now we purchased another copy for my toddler daughter who is an Elmo fanatic. What a great kid's video! (Entertaining for adults too!)



3. Had I known Rosie O'Donnell was a musical(?) guest on the video, I would never have purchased it.



4. So this was a hit at my house. The 13mo old grooves and claps to most of the songs, and my 5yr old enjoys it too. The 5yr old follows the interim bits, and the baby doesn't need to be so glued. The older one started singing the songs around the house by the second watching. I don't mind the hearing the songs repeatedly in the background either. Rosie O'Donnell's song is the 5yr old's favorite (who's also been a big Jimmy Buffet fan and enjoyed seeing him,) and the baby goes nuts for the Fugees. This is my favorite Elmo simply by virtue of not leaving that awful "Elmo's World" song stuck on repeat in my head.... Elmo loves his goooldfish, his crayon toooo - Ack, I only had to think about it a second for it to happen. I might turn Elmopalooza back on.



5. WE ALL LOVE THIS VIDEO. IT IS NOT ONLY FOR CHILDREN, BUT ADULTS AS WELL. IT IS ONE OF FEW VIDEOS SHE WILL WATCH FOR SHE IS NOT A TV FAN. KEEPS HER ENTERTAINED WHILE I GET DINNER READY. ITS A MUST HAVE IN MY OPINION!!!!

5 comments about The Lost Christmas Eve.

1. This is an entirely different take on some classic Christmas songs, and several not so well known ones. Some of them are really great but others are incredibly bad. When they stick to performing just music it can be very rewarding. The vocal songs however are strange and not very appealing



2. The first time I listened to a friend's TSO Christmas album, I thought "What is all this guitar and loudness...for Christmas?" A couple years later, we heard Wizards of Winter on-line, along with a viewing of some timed lighting - I was shocked to find out the awesome song was TSO! We bought the album and have loved TSO ever since! If you ever get a chance to go to a concert...GO...we went this last Christmas and loved it, even from the nosebleeds!



3. We've seen TSO in concert & loved them so we buy their videos as they're released. It's fun having dinner guests over during the holidays & then watching a video or two. No one goes home disappointed!



4. TSO is the best Christmas concert ever! If you can't be there, you must get the CD.



5. The music on this CD is superb. I will now buy the trilogy of which this is the third CD. It is very good rock!!!

1. Sad really. Rick's voice is pretty much shot, very little range, he sounds hoarse on every song. The best track by far is an instrumental faux-Beach Boys "Deck the Halls." My copy is already on the way to "Goodwill".



2. Cd was good for not having anything new from Rick in awhile.
   Nice for the holiday season.
   Would recommend if you are a fan of Ricks



3. As a long time fan of Rick Springfield, back to the seventies, I totally enjoyed this cd.
   
   Christmas is my favorite time and even though I got this cd afterwards, I am still playing it. Love it



4. I couldn't buy this CD at Christmastime. It was sold out. I decided to get it after Christmas so that I could have it for Christmas 2008 which is far away. I listened to only the first track and it sounded really nice.



5. Most people don't know that all the proceeds of Christmas With You went to the families of fallen troops here in the USA. What an amazing jesture by the greatest Rocker ever, Rick Springfield. There are numerous hits on here, not just Christmas hits but they should have been played on the radio all the time and gotten the respect they deserved! This is the best Christmas CD ever.

1. Destiny's Child has been named the best-selling girl group of all time and it's not hard to figure out the reason why! Their tight melodies, slammin' beats and looks definitely shout "superstardom" and Destiny Fulfilled (their first--and last--disc as a regrouped act) showcases them nearly at their best. Lead single "Lose My Breath" combines a sample of a marching band and Hip Hop-induced R&B hooks to make one slice of pure ear candy; "Soldier" is another example of DC at the top, but had it not involved the typical overused rapper appearance it'd have been much better (in my opinion T.I. and Lil' Wayne only bring the song down). "Cater 2 U" opens with a soft, introspective raindrop-like introduction and shimmers into a great R&B ballad. The trademark Destiny's Child harmonies are apparent on the opening of "If," another beautiful ballad on Fulfilled. In the past Michelle hasn't had much chance to have solos (Beyonce is no doubt the powerhouse singer here--but that doesn't mean she has to overpower the other two girls) but here she has several. Aside from the stellar opener "Lose My Breath," "Through With Love" is almost as addictive. Overall, Destiny's Child could have done a little better since this disc is a little dragged down by too many bland ballads, but in the end it's still a great tribute to the world's best-selling girl group and should leave the listener indeed feeling fulfilled.



2. Ok... Beyonce sings about being a very independent woman and being a Survivor but she's singing about have a ghetto thug in Soldier to make her complete and that she will slave over a man in Cater 2 You? She lacks substance in her music and she's contradicts herself. There's a better word for this a Hypocrite. First of all, the Destiny's Child girls are from a upper middle class neighborhood in Texas but they're dressing up as ghetto girls in the Soldier video? And they're singing about that they want a ghetto thug as a boyfriend. No girl wants a ghetto dude as a boyfriend. They mays sell more albums than most girls groups but TLC, the Supremes, and En Vogue and even latin freestyle girl groups from the 1980's like the Cover Girls, Sweet Sensation, Seduction, Expose have more substance in their music and lyrics.



3. I must confess, I was so mad at Destiny's Child when I first purchased this album because I saw it only had eleven tracks. With that being said, I have since learned to appreciate the quality of work that went into this album. Their harmonies are at its best and each member appears to have equal time on all of the songs. To my surprise, all three members participated in the songwriting process and are listed as album producers, which was a smart business move. The main reason why I love this album is because of the amount of growth displayed. Remember, the last album was Survivor, so in comparison to the songs on that album, as well as any albums before Survivor, Destiny Fulfilled is a vocal masterpiece. The maturity of the lyrics is such songs as Bad Habit, T-Shirt, Girl, Free shows that they have experienced the same pitfalls of love as anyone else. My favorite tracks are: Bad Habit, which was written by Solange and Kelly, Girl, Cater To You, and Love. I would have to say that Kelly shows the most growth. Her voice is purely angelic and one thing I have noticed is that Kelly sounds best when produced by Beyonce. I believe that due to their closeness, Beyonce really knows Kelly's voice, so she is able to pull out certain elements in her voice that other prodcuers can't. All I can say is get this album, because it is their best work yet.



4. This is the first Destiny Child CD made for grown ups. Consequently, this is the first Destiny Child CD I have purchased. Buy this one. There are a few excellent songs on this CD.

5 comments about Good Vibrations: Thirty Years of the Beach Boys.

1. Great songs, lots of demos, pre-release takes, and even some radio promos. This CD set is only for the serious Beach Boys aficionado. If you just want the songs you heard on the radio, buy a "Best of" CD.

2. I got these for a friend who is a beachboy fan. He loves them. It has a great information packet and has all the original songs including demo songs that were never released.



3. This box set covers the first thirty years of the Beach Boys. Of course, much more space is devoted to the group's early glory days than to the uneven later years. The first four discs cover the high points of the band's career, featuring their most popular songs with a few rarities thrown into the mix. Disc 5 is all rarities, with backing tracks without vocals and such, which will appeal to serious Beach Boys fans but may be of little interest to the casual listener. As a big fan of the Beach Boys, I liked all of it.



4. I purchased this 5 CD set for my husband as a Father's Day gift. He's enjoyed listening to it. It's a excellent CD and includes the many Beach Boy hits and extra material never released. Extremely great value for the money and I encourage any Beach Boy fans to make it a purchase.



5. I haven't even listen to all of the CDs, but what I have heard brings back great memories of what I couldn't find anywhere else on CD. It's a great collection of work along with behind the scenes studio recordings. Recommended for any Beach Boys casual or die hard fan.

1. You only need to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra one time in concert to become an all time fan. A must-have CD to add to your TSO collection.



2. Really great composition - the way I was introduced to this orchestra was by way of a Xmas Light Display that was featured on a video site of the computer and the music was so entrancing!!!!



3. I bought this cd solely for Patti Russo's tracks. The writing could have been better, but her voice goes a long way in pulling off the lyrics. I rarely listen to the other songs--only Patti's, but I consider the cd worth the money.



4. This is one of my favorite CDs. The combination of rock and classical music is amazing! Most of the vocalists have great voices and do a great job also.
   
   One of the only problems with this CD is with the keyboards. The keyboardist does an absolutely awful job. "Moonlight Sonata," "Fur Elise," and "Ode to Joy" are ruined - they are extremely clunky and immature. Even "What is Eternal" could be a lot better with a better keyboardist. (Disclaimer: I am a classically trained pianist, so I'm probably hard on other pianists.)
   
   Other than the keyboards, the CD is great.



5. This experience is like a broadway show without people. The first time through I lost a little in listening and following the booklet at the same time. BUT, the second time I listened, ALL of the beauty and meaning hit me full force. Give it a try. The musical snippit does not do justice.

1. All of the songs are beautifully performed but "Rejoice" makes your heart leap with joy. It's worth the price of the CD just to hear this song.

3. I listen to Il Divo while I'm driving.Their voices create the most
   beautiful harmony. Each voice is distinct and unique. All 4 of these
   young men are so handsome and talented.I hope they make another CD soon
   and have a long career.



4. This CD remains in my car and is played year-round -- WONDERFUL, goosebump-provoking voices, and very complementary harmonizing and blending. (I've never been a fan of the song, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," and, despite other reviewers' explanations, I still don't think it belongs in a Christmas collection -- but I HIGHLY recommend this CD in general, as ALL of the songs are performed beautifully)!
   
   Prior to the release of this recording, my all-time favorite version of "Oh Holy Night" was sung by Pavarotti -- but the Il Divo version is also absolutely breathtaking!
   
   This CD was my first exposure to Il Divo (I know -- it seems unbelievable, in light of their popularity), but it has inspired me to purchase more of their CD's (I prefer the songs which they sing in English, since comprehension of the lyrics certainly stirs the emotions to a greater degree -- "Every Time I Look at You" is one of my favorites), and I am now going to order one of their DVD's, so I can actually SEE them perform (I rarely watch TV, so this will be a "first" for me, too). I am also going to order copies of this CD to give to friends next Christmas, and I'm hoping that Il Divo will release more Christmas collections in the future.
   
   I've read the reviews of those who have posted negative comments, accusing the producers and promoters of Il Divo of "crass commercialism," but I am VERY THANKFUL to Simon Cowell, et al, for having brought these VERY TALENTED AND DIGNIFIED GENTLEMEN together -- and for having provided them the opportunity to share their musical gifts with all of us. BRAVO! -- SUCH a breath of fresh air, under the label of "popular music." One can only hope that this trend continues.



5. I'm in love with these young men's voices! Il Divo will be playing in my house every Christmas from now on.
